She knew the kidnapper's innermost feelings, but could she stop him in time? Talia Dane had her life just the way she liked it. She did her job as a bookkeeper at the occult bookstore Strange Days, hung out with a few friends and had her nice, safe apartment in the city. Being an empath in New York City might seem insane, but the mass of humanity masked her differences and that was all she wanted. Someday she might want more, but for now blending in was just fine with her. Finn O'Brien has a problem on his hands. Twenty-something girls are missing around the city and he can't buy a clue. When Talia's friend Cassidy disappears he's willing to listen to just about anyone-including some kook who thinks she can feel other people's emotions. Talia and Finn embark on mission to find the kidnapper, but will they be able to stop him in time? Or will Talia be the next victim?
Arianna Hart enjoys spending time with her family, reading anything she can get her hands on, and of course writing! She’d love to spend her days on a beach with a drink in one hand and a book in the other, but until she wins the lottery she’ll just have to settle for chasing her girls around the pool.
Arianna Hart is going on my 'authors to watch' list. She tells very good, very sexy stories without sacrificing emotional growth and relationship building.
Talia is an empath who must shield herself from others emotions. Most of the time it works, with two exceptions. She can't block especially strong senders, and she can't block the strong emotions of those she cares about. So when her good friend and co-worker is kidnapped by a man who exudes evil, Talia is determined to do everything she can to help catch this devil.
Finn is a cop who is desperately trying to find a lead, any lead, on the wacko who has kidnapped a series of women. Although none of them have turned up dead, that still leaves the ominious question of what he IS doing with them! When he learns of Talia's empath abilities, he knows that it doesn't matter how attracted he is to her, he'll have to use any help he can get...especially once the Mayor's daughter joins the ranks of the missing.
Not one of her strongest stories, but still had a lot of good points. Hot guy afraid to 'open up', shy girl who needs to 'close down'. He's so strongly attracted to her, he makes bonehead relationship mistakes. She doesn't just take it, she makes him pay!! Just a fun read.
Police Officer Finn O'Brien is searching for a missing woman when he enters Strange Days, an occult bookstore. There he meets their bookkeeper, Talia Dane. About a month later Talia's friend goes missing and the two meet again. Talia is an empath and feels her friend's fear and anger. She is determined to rescue her friend.
I have decided I like this author. She blends the romance and suspense in a way that I enjoy. This book has a small element of the paranormal in that the heroine is an empath. Because of this she stays to herself mostly. When her friend is kidnapped she teams up with a hot cop to find the kidnapper.
Nicely done for a suspense novel in less than 300 pages. The story revolves around Talia, a bookkeeper in an occult bookstore, and Finn, a NYC police detective investigating the disappearance of Talia's girlfriend. The story line was interesting and the characters well enough developed that you couldn't help rooting for them. I never could figure out how the title of the novel related to the contents, though.
Yeah, I'm not impressed at all. The story line was a bit far fetched. Talia the empath and the Detective Finn O'Brien try to crack a kidnapping case, oh and they fall in love. BLAH
