There are seven weeks of daily blessing to your children. I hope you will receive as much joy from blessing the children in your life as I have. And remember, it's never too late to start.
Internationally renowned nutritionist and Christian author Dr. Mary Ruth Swope is a popular seminar leader and speaker. She appears on many TV and radio programs in America and Canada. This is her fifth book and she considers its message the most exciting ever.
While the author originally wrote the 49 Scripturally-based blessings in this book for her 7-year-old grandson, I feel they apply to everyone. For the last 7 weeks, I have been praying the blessings over my two teenage children and in turn, I have been blessed by praying for them. There is great power in the words that we speak to and over others. I highly recommend this book if you want to be intentional about blessing your children.
The Bible provides plenty of examples and direction on how to bless our children, but our culture rarely applies this knowledge to our everyday lives. In the first part of this book, Dr. Swope succinctly pulls together important biblical support for blessing our children. The remainder of the book is filled with short blessings by topic, such as courage and authority. Each blessing is based on God's promises throughout the Bible and includes scriptural support to help you dig deeper into the topic.
We've been reading these blessings over our little one for a couple months, and I trust it's having a positive impact on his spirit because God's Word never returns void. In the meantime, these blessings are certainly encouraging to my husband and me.
Love this book! It started as a springboard for writing a blessing for my daughter at the end of a mother/daughter retreat when she was about 10 years old. I pulled it back out in recent years and have written Christmas/New Year blessings for each member of my family (parents, husband, grown children) three of the past four years.
