The thing with Louise Simonson is that, if the issue does not co-incide with some important cross-over event spanning not only Superman comics, but other comics as well... her writing is terrible. And the drawings does not help either. Out of all mainline Superman titles that came out since the triangles were introduced, The Man of Steel (1991) is the most terrible out of the bunch.

Looks like I was the only one who really enjoyed this compared to the other reviews. After reading one from the early 40s this one was a lot more superhero friendly and had foes rather then petty little bits. Solid comic, may check out the others.

Never have been a fan of Superman, but I still give him a shot every so often to see if I can finally understand why he's a big deal. This didn't help change my opinion.

An average Superman story

A pretty generic story though it's interesting seeing Ma and Pa in Metropolis. It finally got interesting in the last few pages
