Deliverer was such a twisted, thrilling ride! It's the story of Jeff Truman, and if you don't know who that is, you definitely need to read the first two books. On that same note, while the story begins with events that happened before the first book, it covers all the way to pretty much the end of Altercation, so it definitely works as a 2.5 in the series. It answers questions that had been left unanswered in the previous books while exploring more of this dark world and even darker characters (the Carnicero included). Truly, Trumann was a way more complex character than I imagined in the beginning, with his tumbling into the darker parts of the world he already dealt in, while still fighting with his conscience every step of the way. The lines he was forced to cross as his world started to crumble, the flashes from his past and even his love for Shakespeare made him a hard-to-figure-out enigma. With all his choices and the path of his character arc (or is it, descend?), I think this reads more like watching a trainwreck happen but being unable to look away. Or, being here for the ride, not the ending. ~ 4 stars (due to violence being a bit more graphic/dark than it's been so far in the series).

Content:
Sex: mention of a girl being raped (off-screen, never shown).
Language: present, less than a handful
Violence: yes (gunshots, punches, slaps, killing people, dismemberment, threats, etc).

I have been enthralled in this series since Perilous book.1. This added novel from the perspective of The Hand, the Boss of the group of men who kidnapped the girls. It Explains the reasons behind why he made the decisions he did with the them. Why he went from being a man who only dealt in robberies to being a kidnapper and murderer. I found it hard to feel any compassion for the man, especially knowing what he puts the girls he kidnaps through. I can’t really say much more because it will leave spoilers for you. Tamara Hart Heiner once again puts her excellent ability for realism behind the characters, and storyline. It will make you question his reasons, will make you question your understanding,. Will it make you feel any compassion? That’s entirely upto
You. I know my decisions, now you need to make yours, it was definitely a good addition to the series.

Perilous and Altercation from the badman's perspective. Modern gangster or mob story. The best of the characters is a deadly, vigilante assassin: Carnicero. The worst is McAllister out for revenge against the main character: a jewel thief turned kidnapper. I tried to read this before Perilous and Altercation, but couldn't develop any interest. After reading them, it seemed to fill in a number of minor holes.

Excellent Antagonist Story

For sure read this as 2.5 in the series (or later). This story walks us through The Hand’s side of the story and it was emotionally charged and at times I *almost* wanted to like the guy. This was excellent and well thought out. I really look forward to reading book 3 in the series!
