A descendant of legendary wise women, Lissa Capoen has a gift. She can see the future. But the visions don't include capture by the Spanish, nor her rescue by a handsome captain.
Rand Van Locken expects to find treasure when he and his crew board the galleon. Instead, they discover a bedraggled beauty in chains behind a locked door.
He wants to know more about her. She wonders if he can be trusted with her secrets. Hunted by the Spanish, they embark on a quest to rescue Lissa's kidnapped sister. But when Lissa disappears in the ghost mists, is Rand's love enough to bring her back?
Making an impossible love quite possible after all...
Debbie is an author of sweet paranormal and fantasy romance. She has always had a soft spot for fairy tales, the joy of falling in love, making an impossible love possible, and happily ever after endings. She loves music, art, beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and thunder storms.
When she's not busy conjuring her latest novel, She spends time with the members of her very large and nutty family in the lovely, arid deserts of southern Nevada. She also pursues her interests in family history, mythology, and history.
Debbie Peterson weaves a spelling blend of history, romance and the supernatural in her latest, Van Locken’s Witch. As always, this author delivers a tale with characters who steal your heart, and Lissa Capoen and Rand Van Locken are no different. I also fell in love with the crew of Rand’s ship, especially first mate Wolf. Fortunately, Wolf gets his own tale in the Shadow of the Witte Wieven, already available, and next on my reading radar.
Ms. Peterson knows her history, which is woven throughout this tale in just the right amount. We also get an intriguing legend about the Witte Wieven, ancient wise women of Dutch mythology. As someone who loves folklore, I found the legend enthralling, particularly the skill with which Ms. Peterson wove it into her plot. As for the romance, it’s sweet, soul-searching and tender. Van Locken’s Witch is another wonderful read from an author who is on my automatic buy list.
I loved Shadow of the Witte Wieven and was really excited to see Debbie Peterson give us a prequel! She did not disappoint.I loved this one every bit as much as the other! Now! One more please?
Heart of the Witch by Debbie Peterson is a mesmerizing blend of historical adventure, romance, and a touch of the supernatural that completely swept me away. Lissa Capoen is a beautifully written heroine strong, gifted, and deeply human. Her ability to see the future feels both mystical and intimate, drawing readers right into her world of danger and destiny.
