Derinda Love normally is the woman behind the scenes, promoting other authors of all genres. She has created a name for herself with her bestselling book, Today Only. Her writing is full of love and hope. She allows a reader to remember 'What their beautiful is today.'
On her off time she is a devoted mother, trusted blogger, and a talented writer who not only ventures in romance but also fantasy that always lets readers feel emotions.
WOW!!!! Wow is all I have for this book. D. Love has a way of capturing you with her stories. Her first book Today Only made me a blubbering mess. This one had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next thing to happen and then falling off the couch when I reached the meanest cliffhanger I have ever read. :D
Honestly words can barely describe this amazing book. It is so different than Today Only but just as good. She kept me guessing through the whole book. I will admit I didn’t kinda figure out one thing before it happened but other than that I had no clue. The emotions that Bailey felt. The way she was treated growing up. They way everything played out for this girl was at times heartbreaking. I was so happy Ethan was there for her through everything and took care of her and loved her like brothers should.
I felt so bad for Jaxon. How everything played out for this guy sucked big time. That was the worst way to find out. (You have to read to know what I’m talking about. lol). And after all that he was trying to do. It actually made me giggle a little thinking back to all his trying to find that out.
Steven… I love Steven… I feel like Steven needs a happily ever after. I feel like he deserves one. He is showing change and true feelings. I don’t even know what to say but that I want him to be happy.
Aunt Sheila and Uncle Kent are AMAZING!!! If only all parents were like them.
Now on to Tim. You meet Tim in the beginning of the book. It all starts with him. I have to admit I love Tim and feel really really bad for Tim. My heart broke for him. I felt depressed for him. He is another one that I hope gets a happily ever after. After what he has went through I want to see him happy and moving on… He needs it..
So there is my crazy break down. This book ROCKS and I can’t wait for book two.. Is it ready yet??? I recommend this book to everyone and if you haven’t read her first book then you MUST pick up Today Only.
I was given for honest review by author. I found the characters to be simply amazing. The way the story unfolds is beautiful with all the twists and turns. The way the characters life mix and mingle is beautifully done makes you feel like you part of the tale being spun by D.Love she has done a amazing job of writing this tale and I can't wait to see what she has planned next for these characters. Simply put this book has been done exceptional well.
AMAZING BOOK!!! I was fortunate enough to be a beta reader for D. Love.
I was drawn in from the very first page. I instantly fell in love with the main character Bailey. She has had a difficult life but doesn't let that stand in her way of making a new start. She moves to Maine to work for her aunt and meets Steven and Nora. Both live there and work for Bailey's aunt Sheila.
Sheila is one of my favorite characters in this book. She takes in kids who appear broken and love them like her own. What a beautiful concept. This quote sums her up the best. "That is one thing I admire about Sheila, she is always willing to take on the next forgotten child, without making them feel as if they are any less of a person."
What I love most about D. Love's books are the characters. You feel connected with them and you feel their pain. She knows how to tell a story with such love and tenderness that you can't help but be pulled in. I truly felt so many emotions when I met each of the characters. I found myself wanting each of them to have a HEA. One thing I will warn you about, I did not want he book to end. When it did, I couldn't believe she left me hanging like she did! (I need to know what happens.)
This story is full of emotion, suspense and a few surprises. Loveable characters and a great storyline. A 5 star book by a 5 star author.
One of my favorite quotes from Learning the Lies. "Relationships are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together."
I really really really enjoyed this story. I started it and could not put it down. I finished it within hours. I love Bailey, she is so adorable and the relationship she has with her brother Ethan is fantastic. I love all the characters that were in this story. All had something broken but all found a way to be there for each other even through lies. The lies weren't kept just because but because they wanted to protect that person. I can understand that as well as see how that could hurt as well. I really cannot wait to read the next especially with that cliff. I get so entranced in this authors books that I read them so fast that I now have to wait. That is the worst to always have to wait but it is usually worth it. The flow of the story worked really well. The connection and timing of all the events fit together. I think a lot of people can connect to this story. All these characters may have had a broken family or something that was traumatic happen in their lives but they were able to find away to be a family without being blood related. The twist and turns make this story so relatable and really makes you want to keep reading. You have feelings for all the characters. I also really liked that you got a guy and Bailey's perspective throughout the story. That really makes it even more interesting to see how Stephan was seeing reactions to certain plots and vise verse. I really look forward to picking up the next book to read and find out what more Bailey has to go through as well as all the other characters.
I loved this book. Learning the Lies draws you in from the very first sentence.
I am so honored to have been given the opportunity to beta read this book by D. Love. She really knows how to pull on my heartstrings.
I loved Derinda’s first book, Today Only, and let me tell you, Learning The Lies is just as good. It won’t make you cry like the first one, but it has a wonderful message. Those awesome messages that only Derinda can deliver. You can’t help but fall in love with D. Love’s story telling.
This is a wonderful coming of age story about a ordinary young girl, wanting so much to belong and make a new start in her life.
Annnnnd if a new heartthrob happens to cross her path, so much the better. There are so many twists, turns, and secrets in this book, you will be amazed and you would never guess them. Well, maybe one, but not until you close to the ending, which is fine, because by then, all you want is for everything to work out.
Oh yeah, I absolutely love the cover.
This is a great pick-up-your-spirits book and I highly recommend it to everyone who likes sweet romance. ♥♥♥♥♥
I read Learning the Lies by D. Love. I recommend this book! This book tells different perspectives from some of the main characters. I love this writing style. It starts with a girl named Bailey who has a difficult past, and she wants a different future. Being hurt emotionally is a mainstay in her life, but she wants it to change. She is a "warrior". :) She has decided to leave her hometown in Indiana and go live with her Aunt and Uncle in Maine. What are the lies you ask?? They are revealed to Bailey slowly, but she is not the only one being lied to. This book has things that I didn't see coming; I love how this story unfolds! Can't wait for book #2 in this trilogy!
Spoiler Alert... I was given an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. It is about a girl who gets her heart broken by a boy named Tim. Her brother is her rock. She moves to her aunts house in Maine. She really loves it there. She starts having feelings for a boy named Steven. She learns along the way that there are secrets being kept from her. The story is captivating and intriguing. It sucks you right in from the beginning. This is a must read for everyone. i can not wait for the next book in this series. Way to go D. Love. You rock!!!
I was given this book for my honest review.. I will say that if you've read Today Only by D. Love you know that her heart pours out in her writing and this book is no exception. This dis functional family thrown together by cerium stance is way closer than any blood related family I've seen.m
Sheila and Kent are the adults of the house and hey make sure every one in the house knows they are loved and accepted., don't get me wrong, if they act up there are consequences but together they either work them out or explain what needs to be done for the kids to get out of their own messes.
This book is about Bailey and how her life growing up was not easy. She always felt hat she was never good enough for her mom. Her mom made her feel like an annoyance, a pebble in her shoe, and she couldn't wait to leave Indiana to stay with her aunt and uncle in Maine Especially after the horribly confusing breakup she had with her boyfriend Tim.
You would think that since her Brother Ethan was the one who got everything he wanted they would have a horrible relationship but it was the complete opposite. Ethan took care of her and they were very very close.
Of course you meet not one but two bad boys in this story Steven and Jaxson along with the only female Baileys age Nora.
At first things were a little rough and as weeks passed you could tell that everything started to be easy and Bailey loved it in her new house.
I especially loved how they were always teasing each other, good naturedly of course, and how they were always laughing. That's exactly how I'd picture things being. This family was not perfect by any means but they learn to service and get through the hard times together.
Oh, I have a bone to pick with D. Love on how the book ended.. Really!
Seriously though, If you want a cute and family friendly book to read I totally recommend this one for you. I giggled quite a few times so I know you will to.

This is a great pick up your spirits book and I highly recommend it to everyone who likes sweet romance.
Learning The Lies by D. Love is a YA contemporary romance. It follows Bailey as she leaves her home in Indiana and travels to her Aunt's in Maine. Bailey is a sweet and innocent girl who wants to be loved. She was adopted as a young child but has never felt Luke her adopted mom loves her as much as her brother. Her first love, Tim, is injured in a farming accident and pushes Bailey away. The only person Bailey can always count on is her brother, E. Until she gets to her Aunt Sheila's and she finds loving acceptance. This was a sweet story woven together amid many lies. As Bailey discovers the truth behind the secrets and lies she grows into a stronger person. The plot flowed smoothly and kept my interest. There were a few grammatical errors but they were minor and did not detract from the story. The characters were well developed and very realistic. The ending was quite a cliffhanger - I tried scrolling over several times before I had to admit to myself that that was actually the end. But that just means that I'll be anxiously waiting for the next book.
This book is such an amazing story I fell in love with all the characters Bailey especially and the heartbreak she endures but how strong it all makes her along with the other characters in this book. Learning the Lies is such a great book D Love has done it again made me laugh, cry and love her writing even more. Moving from what is familiar to a whole different place makes things even harder. I love the fact that she has a character with heart and a caring nature as in Sheila. I recommend this book to all readers. Thanks Derinda for such an amazing book as always.
Another great book by the author D. Love - learn the heartbreak of Bailey and her love Tim - learn the heartbreak of Steven - Nora - Jaxon and how they all came to live with Aunt Sheila and Uncle Kent - find out how they all deal with the heartaches of things they had no control over -- Ms. Love has done it again and given us a book that will bring tears to your eyes and a smile to your face and will also have you yelling at the people in the book - would definitely recommend this book as a must read - thank you Derinda for this wonderful book - can't wait to read more
Wow! I knew after reading Today Only that D. Love would become one of my favorite authors and this one does not disappoint either.
Bailey is a young broken hatred young lady looking for change. She decides to move to Maine with her aunt and uncle. There she learns the meaning of family and friendship. Will she also have another chance at love?
This is the second book from author D. Love, and while very different from Today Only, Learning the Lies carries the same theme throughout the story. Kindness and love can bring people through terrible circumstances. The characters are diverse and you come to care very much about them. There are twists and turns that I never saw coming!! I can't wait for the next installment!!
I was gifted this book and read the story not realizing at first I have read this..Great read then as is again.fixing to read the second one if I find it..thank you D for sharing it sad thing I forgot about this story and I'm so glad I stumbled a cross the author again now I can continue the story..
Wow. So many lies in this book. It cause so much distress and heart break. But it also bring a boy a new sister and brother. I feel like there could have been more to this book. But it is a trilogy. I just don't like cliff hangers. Oh well. Loved the book anyways. Can't wait for the second one to come out.
Fanfreakingtastic!!! This was "wow" what a read. Im pretty sure Derinda Love knows what shes doing. Holly hell, what a great read. I'm seriously in need of the next book. I need to know what happens. In the blink of an eye, what you always thought was, ended up not being.
Fantastic book I think this is a must read I can't wait to start the second book I was sucked in right from the first few pages and could not put it down,

My Review~ I was gifted this book from amazon. I adore the emotions of the cover and also the title. It invokes what is hidden in the pages just lurking below the amazing exterior. I read this book in a single setting! I could not and did not want to put down this riveting read. It was quite a fast paced page turner that at the end your left wanting and begging for more and what will happen next. I love that throughout this book there are twists and turns and secrets that are revealed and that I have a feeling that there will be more to come. Great read! I love this authors writing and can't wait to read what else she comes up with. The characters are loveable and secretive. I love that through the story we the readers get a broader picture as the plot unfolds. Great new author! I think I may have found a new author to stalk thanks to my friend who bought me this book.
