The Power of Imagination

Rate this book
Just imagine!

Does God want you to use your imagination? Are Christians to turn off their imaginative, creative side when they become mature believers? The answers may surprise you! The Power of Imagination reveals the part of spiritual life that is often shunned or closeted away because it may seem New Age or too unconventional. On the contrary, when believers use their imaginations to see beyond current circumstances into the realm where God paints pictures in their minds, healings are commonplace, goals are accomplished, dreams come true, and victories are celebrated! But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:14-18). You can develop the ability to see as God sees. You can see the future that He planned for you before you were born. Through the power of your God-given imagination, nothing is impossible—no problem too big, no relationship too broken. This exciting new way of living is thoughtfully and biblically presented in a refreshing and empowering way that will keep you imagining for years to come. Topics         How to Develop a Godly Imagination         Supernatural Vision         Living from the Inside Out         Discerning Vain Imaginations         Seeing the Unseen         Deep Calls Unto Deep A special chapter is devoted to healing the orphan spirit that can keep people from becoming all God intended for them—walls are identified and torn down, replaced with a beacon of beauty and light shining throughout the spirit, body, and soul. Just imagine!

Absolutely LOVED this book! Not only did it reinforce some things I have been studying but it gave me even more insight in taking this wonderful gift even further in my walk. Reclaiming my imagination for the kingdom of God!! C'mon! For those of us who have done Hearts Design, this book handles the subject of imagination richly and in depth. Both books I have ready by Kerry Kirkwood were very good. Definitely recommends.

This was a great book for sure. It tailed a little bit at the end here and there, but overall a very satisfying read to start or continue your spiritual learning of Jesus and God. Here are some great quotes.

In the original Hebrew text, we word image is tselem, which means a shadow of or resemblance or representation. We know that He was not referring to God as looking like us physically, because the Bible says that God is a spirit. However, the resemblance is our spiritual makeup. We were also created with an imagination.

When we allow the power of His love to be part of our speech and actions, we then can see things through His eyes. If a person treats others with sarcasm and hateful speech, they should not expect to view others with the favor of God. the way we treat others is the same way we view God.

Once faith has entered your heart, start giving thanks that the Lord has heard the cry of your heart.

When we allow the image of Christ to be fully formed in us, it grows far beyond the initial encounter.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:3 that when you give alms to the poor, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. we sometimes hear this verse being used during an offering at church. The word hand was not used in the original translation from the Greek. It says don't let the left interrupt the right.

The left side of the brain is for calculations and math. It is where we weigh evidence before making a decision. it is the rational part of our thinking. It is also where skepticism comes from and doubt. From the right comes the emotional part that is romantic and we are more likely to use the right side for faith thoughts. I suggest to you that Jesus was not referring only to hands but to our thinking as well. We could perhaps say that we are not to let doubt and unbelief control us, but let faith take us into the place of generosity.

During the time when people were arriving, I heard various stories about how different ones got in trouble with the government for killing their own cow or goat for food. Under communism, the government owns everything, so if you kill your goat, they consider it stealing from the government. Because we had bought the chicken from a government-sanctioned store, we were OK. The crowd had grown to 40 people, and I am not sure how many children were there. Most of them were used to eating one meal per day. I told our hosts to go ahead and feed everyone else; our group could wait until we returned to our hotel. They seemed to be somewhat offended. The interpreter quickly said that the hosts insisted that we be served first. The small house could only seat four people at a time. After we had a portion of chicken with rice and beans, we moved out so others could come in. I stayed near the little burner used to cook the meal. I don’t know how it happened, but they kept dipping into the pots of food and the same amount of food remained in the pots. This process continued until the last person was fed. Only then could I hear the spoon scraping the bottom of the pot. I was amazed and obviously excited. They saw my amazement and said, “This happens all the time. We have to believe God to supply or we don’t survive.” I realised the Cuban Christians didn’t inventory the supply; they simply offered to God what they had as an offering and He multiplied to fit the need.

Thank you, Kerry Kirkwood and Sid Roth

An intriguingly interesting book on using the power of imagination to fulfill God's plans for you and the godly goals that you've set out to complete. The author has very rightly stated that imagination is of God since HE was the one who created us and gave us the ability (and the power) to imagine. We can all use this God-given ability to fulfill what HE has called us to do.

Not my favorite book. The concept is that imagination is from God and we should use it. To me that’s a fairly simple concept not requiring an entire book.

The Power of Imagination authored by Kerry Kirkwood was very inspirational and it confirmed that my imagination is a blessing. Those things that I imagine have been goals or desires of my heart. These things have come to pass in almost every case. I recommend this book to Christians who want to deepen their walk with God.
