A dragon has a cold. A phoenix tries to convince the dragon to rest, but the dragon insists on being strong, brave, invulnerable, resilient.
What I liked: Uses symbols of Chinese mythology that represent the male and female. It's a book that tackles toxic masculinity without using the words toxic or masculinity. And of course, Dan Santat's artwork is always on point.
What I didn't like: I think the message about toxic masculinity is too coded for kids to pick up on.
Overall, probably a no for me.
