As a small child, she was always intrigued by all forms of art: whether it was dancing to island rhythms, or painting with any medium she could get her hands on. She’s a short and sassy Latina with an adorable pup, a kiddo that keeps her on her toes, and a husband who claims she’ll cause him to go bald prematurely. Lol

Somebody shoot me now. Jeez, this was one giant eye roll.

-Perfect heroine that everybody wants (men and women)

-Beefy tattooed neanderthal manho 'hero' that every woman tries it on with

-Boring storyline and highly unlikeable characters. NO THANK YOU!

ARC Received from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

Talon's world is about to be rocked. When Maya walks into his tattoo parlor he is hit with an urge he's not used to feeling. Sure, he's had his fair share of ladies, but there is something about this one that makes him want to go slow and put his mark on her virgin skin. Maya is not just a pretty face, she is a little fire cracker set to go off. And when the two of them meet, the attraction is undeniable but Talon's not used to wanting to have more with anyone and Maya's not the kind of girl not to go all in.

=====================================

This was a quick read that was entertaining. There was a small issue for me with the age gap and the way the characters held themselves. With Maya at twenty and Talon in his mid-thirties, their ages never met their personalities. Since this story is part of a series, we don't get too far into their story with the first read. We do get to see them meet and couple up, but the whole picture is not quite in focus yet.

I think this is one of those stories will come together as each segment is available, being too short to fully connect in just the first installment, but being just enough to make you wonder what the hell is coming next.

I had the pleasure of getting an advance copy of this enjoyable story. I loved Talan and the clear desire he has for Maya right off the bat. The age difference, while some may dislike, never seemed to be a problem between the two. They enjoyed each other, had fun, got to know each other, let the sexual tension build to an all-consuming level and then they finally indulged.

This passage was my favorite, “I will ravage every inch of you before the night is through, Maya. It will be my name you scream in ecstasy and my bed you wake up in tomorrow.” My words had the desired effect as I pulled away. “No more brakes. Sixty.”

I got my copy and thought it would take a few days to read, but I could not put it down and finished it the same day! I really can’t wait for the next book to come out! Elena M. Reyes did a remarkable job!

Wow I really am liking Talan hes so damn sexy, with bad boy written all over him. Tattoo God lol. I can't wait for more of him he makes my blood bump fast lol. Maya absolutely love her, she's tough but she can also be submissive which makes the story even better. Can't wait for the next book.

Talan Cox wants to mark Maya—with more than his ink. The owner of a prominent tattoo shop, he’s used to being hit on by easy women. Though “easy” is not a word associated with Maya when she comes in to support her friend. Flirtation ensues, but what will it take to break the painted man.

“‘Don’t start, Maya. We already agreed, and you are my girl. You want the whole dating/doting/spending time together deal, to make it feel rea? Done. But I was serious when I said we saw no one but each other.’”

5 mark me stars!!! So deliciously good, I’m ready to get in line so Talan can “mark” me!

Talon is no stranger to being hit on by women, he’s seen his fair share of them come and go out of his tattoo shop. But when Maya walks into his shop to be a helpful support to her friend….Talon’s world is rocked. He knows he has to have her the minute she walks into his shop. But he’s a tough cookie to crack, can the spunky Maya be the girl to crack him?

This was a fun, sexy read. I love Elena’s books and I’ve loved this book just as much!!!

So this 6'4 Tatted guy walks into a bar... No that is not the start to a bad joke, it's the start to your next smexy fantasy featuring Talan, the dirty hottie, make you want to lick him, tattoo artist that is the center of this delicious little series starter. So Talan is a man-whore, yes this is pretty clear from the beginning but he is one of those man-whores you can't help but dream about getting in your bedroom despite his reputation, he is delectable and in Marking Her he meets not only the woman of his dreams but his mental match.

Maya aka Bitty which is Talan's term of endearment for her, is a spunky 20yr old college student. She is full of vibrance, intelligence and man can she put you in your place.Damsel in distress in this book? No no, Maya is just about as feisty, balls to the walls and tough as her counterpart. She gives Talan a challenge to his skills department as well as his boundaries on relationships; and what does Talan give her in return? Sexual Frustration, yes that is exactly what he does, haha. Talan and Bitty decide to take things slow in the book and that is exactly what happens and guess what I loved it. It was a breath of fresh air that these two were not humping each other and proclaiming their undying love 20 pages in especially since the book itself is not too long. Elena gives us a relationship that we can actually relate too. Its up and down, confusing, new, fun, nerve-racking, intense and REAL. Talan and Maya have their moments of flaming attraction and their moments of genuine tenderness where you can see how their relationship is developing into something more.

I think this is a great start to the series. The male POV is done well and I like the pace and flow of the story. I would have liked a little more background into the characters, maybe some more info on not just Talan's past but Maya's as well. I am also very curious of the supporting characters like Esther, Simon, Lance and Veronica and I am excited to see how their stories may develop through out this series.

3 1/2 Stars!!

Let me just start by saying that I really enjoyed this book!! I mean we have a deliciously hot, tattooed hero and a feisty, take no shit heroine so what's not to love right? Right! My only complaint is it was too short, IMO! Now, I know that there is more story to come and this is only the first book in the series but this girl is impatient! Especially when it involves a tattooed, pierced hottie!!

Talon is the yummy owner of a prominent tattooed shop and has had his fill of women throwing themselves at him. That is until a regular brings a sassy friend with her for her tattoo appointment. Holy Crap, do we watch Talon fall hard and fast! But Maya isn't going to make it way for Talon.

Maya wants Talon but not for one night and she knows that if she gives in he is likely to be the love 'em and leave 'em type so she makes him work for it.

This book is a lot of alpha posturing, flirting and sexual tension! Ya know, if that's your thing! :)

I am anxiously waiting the next installment!

Marking Her (marked Series #1)
by Elena Reyes
One Steamy Read
This is a short sexy story, less than 100 pages, but that doesn't mean it is any less good. It pulls you in right away and holds you until the very end. This is the story of a sexy bad boy, tattoo artist, man-whore, alpha, named Talan, and a hot, smart, kick-ass, tough, hold-her-own, witty, 20 year old college student named Maya. When the two meet there is immediate chemistry. This story is funny, and sexy, and full of sexual tension and real tenderness. I love the fact that these two don't meet and immediately start having sex all over the place, there is real attraction and restraint. This story is well written, the characters are very real and relatable. As soon as I finished, I grabbed the second in the series, definitely wanting more, plus there is a cliffhanger at the end, but never fear because part two is already out. This is really a great read that I highly recommend.

What a great, quick read to curl up with on a cold afternoon! Talon is the owner of a tattoo shop where he meets Maya (Bitty) one day when her friend comes in for some fresh ink. It's attraction and sexual frustration at first glance. The relationship that Maya and Talon have is hot one minute and cold the next because Talon isn't sure he wants a committed relationship. All he knows for sure is that he wants her and wants to mark her...in more than one way. They eventually find themselves on the same page and become officially a couple. You'll also meet psycho crazy Janice. She's delusional and thinks that Talon is hers and can't stand that he wants Maya over her. For a novella, it's got all the perks of a full length novel: a smokin' hot alpha male, a sassy "take no shit" female, drama and hot sexual encounters. You'll be left hot and bothered, and wanting more! I can't wait for the second book to be released so that we can find out what happens next for Talon and Maya!

*Disclosure: Primary edits done by me. Review may be considered biased*

I've worked with Reyes since she first began writing, and sharing, her work about two years ago. In that time I've watched her plot lines become more solid and her writing more fluid. To date, the Marked series is her greatest undertaking, and in my opinion, her best writing. Reyes can only go up from here!

Her characters, not just the main players but the side elements as well, are thought out and developed; strong, yet with a touch of vulnerability that makes them realistic. I have to add that Talan Cox has some one-liners that'll make the toughest of critics swoon.

Why don't you give this inked gang a shot. You might be surprised at how much you enjoy it. ;)

The moment Talan met Maya, he knew she was different from any woman he had been with. Although there is a big age difference, Talan and Maya both have found a mutual flirtation with one another. Despite the chemistry between them, their relationship has not been more than teasing and a few stolen kisses. The problem though is Talan wants her, but he isn't looking to settle down, Maya though is not willing to give herself fully with out one.

The beginning started out fantastic but it just kind of dragged. I really didn't understand Talan, he was instinctively protective of Maya from the get go but wouldn't take her on a date? I am curious though about the next book, had not realized it was a series.

Loved it!!! I recieved and advance copy and extremely enjoyed the story, there is great built up between Talon and Maya, plenty of teasing and flirting which makes you wonder who will come out on top…So far, I'm going to say Maya… Secondary characters also fits in nicely and actually made me want to know a bit more of their story... Looking forward to reading the next one.

This is a perfect book to read curdled up in your cozies and blankets on a cold day!!!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was fantastic! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down until I was finished. I really liked that this book was written from the point of view of the alpha male. The sexual tension between Talan and Maya is smoking hot and so very frustrating. Maya is so sassy, smart and strong and it was refreshing to have a female lead character who wasn't wimpy, dependent and poor. I can't wait until the next book comes out.

ARC Was Given To Blog For An Honest Review

I really enjoyed this novella; it was short but packed a hard punch. It has all the characteristics that full-length novels have in a shorter book. The author had a great start as soon as I met Talan, the hot tattoo artist with his own shop. I love the tattoo manwhore that falls hard for the girl, so it was easy for me to slip into loving the entire story. Maya is a real spitfire, cute, quirky, and smart and if she were not a girl I would say she owns a set of brass balls.

Talan becomes very Alpha with Maya and it is cute to watch the sexual tension escalate between these two. Maya is on a mission to get her way with Talan. I loved watching him try not to falter against her advances because he wanted to take his time with her. Maya is not just some girl. You could tell the minute these two interacted that they belonged to each other.

I can say with a smile that this new series was truly a pleasant surprise. It had the character development, content and concept that I crave for my stories. The supporting characters are very likeable and there is a crazy chick to contend with. It also has all of the fantastic makings of great story. I do wish it were a full-length book; I generally do not read many novellas unless a stand-alone or companion but I am really looking forward to continuing this series. I want to know more about Talan and Maya.

Well, this book was well on it's way to a 4 or 5 star rating until it ended like it did. I'm all for letting the sexual tension build before couple have sex for the first time. About halfway through the book, I was getting tired of all of Talan's internal dialog and a whole lot of nothing actually happening. Talan said that word "slow" was the worst word and complete torture. The same could be said about the pacing of this book...and the build up was not rewarded with the type of physical connection that the long wait warranted...

That all said, the things I liked about the book was that Talan and Maya were well developed and likeable characters, and, despite my bitching about the pacing, I thought it was sweet that Talan was affected enough by her that he wanted to wait- something he was not used to doing. Janice was an interesting addition to the story, with her gall and instability...but again, not only was there no resolution, there was no culmination of the conflict which was foreshadowed more than once.

In the end, I liked Talan and Maya, but I got sick of waiting for things to happen and the long awaited end left me unsatisfied. I know this is the first book in a series but I won't read the sequel. I just don't really care enough anymore to see what happens next.

Sorry about the long winded review...and the negativity within...there is just as much good as bad in this book but it was ultimately not for me.

This book is part of a series and I had the pleasure of reading of Volume I. H/h are Talan and Maya and boy are they hot for each other. Maya meet Talan when she tags along with her friend for moral support to get a tat at his parlor. Talan is known for his art work and has an outstanding business, and also attracts women because his appearance is that of a badass, (all tatted up) with a attitude.
Talan knows that Maya is something special and does not immediately enter into a sexual relationship with
her. By the time they finally have sex Maya is begging for his lovin and it was so worth the wait. Now there was only one incident of lovemaking, but many many instances of Talan whispering what she did to him and how she made him feel. and what he was going to do her body when they did make love…..Very Very Sexy. He is one hot hot lover, and I am sure that we will get much more of the lovin in the next book,” Marking Him”. There is no kink, but he does mention spanking that Arse…so no doubt that kink is scheduled in the next volume.

I enjoyed this. Received it as an ARC for an honest review, though I can't remember now where I requested the copy from. I enjoyed the story, and I would really like to read more though I don't generally care for books that are released in serial format. I prefer to just pay 6-8 bucks and have the whole story rather than paying 1-2 bucks for a few chapters and end up paying way more in the end than for a comparable length book that was published all at once. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the author didn't have the main characters fall into bed with each other right in the beginning, instead the story builds up the anticipation not only for the characters but for the reader as well. I'm also a sucker for the perceived bad boy, be he a biker, rocker, or in this case a tattoo artist. The story is reasonably well written and had very few editing issues, none of which effected the readability and flow of the story. All in all a solid and believable read, in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this story to others.

I abso LOVE Elena's book. This was the second book of her that I read. And what the heck is better than HOT guys with tattoos and girls that take no 'ish!

Talan pulls you in from the beginning. Falling in love with his Bitty from the first second they meet. She is his, and will stop at nothing until she, and everyone else, knows it!

Wow this was an amazing book from start to finish. The passion and feistiness and friendship all through out was great. Talan is a sexy man that owns a tattoo shop and doesn't want nothing but a fling with girls. Relationships are to much work he says until he meets Maya. Maya is a firecracker and is in college for marine biology. She came to his shop with a friend to finish her tattoo. Once Talan laid eyes on Maya or bitty as he calls her he felt the connection and wanted to make her his in every way. A situation happens and his friend comes to warn him and that day he realized how special she was. Does he have the balls to tell her his feelings and start a relationship with her? This is a must read.

3 1/2 stars from Kota for Kota's Book Kollection

"Marking her is a 90 page serial. It is a quick read that lays the foundations for a potentially very good series. There is a depth to the characters that has been touched on and once explored further would likely make them very appealing. So far, too much is unknown to understand the personalities and behaviours to a great extent.

Throw in some drama, some sexual tension, and the beginnings of some great secondary characters, and this read is pleasant." ~ Kota

I was one of the lucky ones to get this story before it was published. Talon is a very interesting hot piece of man meat ;) Maya is the kind of girl that I would want to be friends with. The fact that she comes into Talon's life and in a way wakes him up is not a new concept, but Elena writes it in a way that it feels brand new. Im looking forward to reading book two when it comes out. AWESOME read, and you, the reader of this lovely review needs to go and get your copy now and fall in LOVE with Talon.

I had a very hard time getting into the book. The writing is quite simplistic and a lot of scene could be improved with more showing and less telling. Talan keeps saying he's obsessed with Maya, but we never see the relationship between the both of them develop. The reader has to take a lot for granted.
I finished it because it was a short read.
One redeeming quality is that the heat between the characters when they finally get to it is very well depicted. Too bad I couldn't feel as much in the rest of the book.
I probably won't read the sequel.
