The Wilcox Wombats #1

The Wedding Winger

Rate this book
Sly Remington has a plan. And it does not involve falling in love with his high school crush, the literal girl next door. But sometimes, fate makes plans of its own...

Pro hockey has always been my destiny. And now that I’m right wing for the Wilcox Wombats? It’s my past and present… but I’m not so sure if it’s my future. I’m on the older side now, as hockey stars go, and I’m starting to worry about my lack of a backup plan.

The issue?

I’m no rocket scientist. Hockey’s what I’m good at. Sure, I graduated high school (with the help of my ultimate high school crush, Clara Connor, who was literally the girl next door.) And I got through college because everyone there was pretty invested in keeping me on the ice.

Now?

I’m working on the next phase of my life, but I can’t pretend I’ve got much faith that it’ll work out. I know who I am and what I’m good at. The same thing the women I date an athlete. Period.

But when my little brother drops the bomb of his engagement and Mom insists I come home solo, everything gets thrown into question. Not because Mom doesn't want me bringing a puck bunny to the wedding, but because she's got a matchmaking master plan up her sleeve.

And guess who she has in mind? None other than my HS tutor, Clara Connor, the newly divorced single mom living right next door. Did I mention she has a five-year-old daughter who’s better at getting my goat than my little brother on his best day?

Clara is a scientist now, and she’s got a lot on her plate already. So when Mom thrusts us together repeatedly, I do my best to be a good guy. Standup. Respectable. Friendly.

The thing is, Clara still gets under my skin. And when she tells me she had a crush on me back then too, and that maybe she still does?

The gloves are off.

I want the next book, and I want it now!

The Wedding Winger is a titillating, enchanting, small-town romantic comedy. Still need convincing? It’s also a second chance, single mom, matchmaking mother, hockey playing romance wrapped together with a giant glittery pink bow. 🎀

For Sly Remington, Claire Connor has always been the girl next door—in every sense. For Claire Connor, Sly was always the unattainable, charming, popular, homecoming king. When Sly’s brother gets engaged, Sly finds himself re-living high school with his brilliant teenage crush living next door—but maybe this time his wish will come true.

I was very excited to get into this story, having already fallen in love with the Wombats hockey team (in Checking the Center). This was just as entertaining and engaging as Rock and Drea's story, and I am thoroughly addicted to this team now.

This story revolves around Clara, her daughter Katie, and Sylvester - one of the Right Wings of the Wilcox Wombats. I enjoyed the second chance aspect of this story, but absolutely melted at Sly's connection to Katie.

There were a couple times I was frustrated with Sly's self-doubt, but the chemistry between these two turned my frown upside down!! *wink* She was exactly what he needed, as he was for her. Their connection made their HEA even sweeter!

As a fan of this author already, I knew that this story would be easy to read, connect with, and enjoy, and I was not disappointed. I recommend this author, this series, and any of the others in her catalog of creative works. Worth your time.

I was fortunate to receive a free ARC of this book and happily leave my review. I look forward to meeting the next couple!

All the swoony feels amidst the laughs

This book. The love. The laughs. The anticipation. The teenage fantasies. The painful inadequacies. The big feels. I loved it all. Sly and Clara’s high school crush, opposites attract, single mom was a beautiful romance of all the things. It will give you all the swoony swoons while also pulling at your heartstrings with all the emotions. Sly is a professional hockey player who is staying at his childhood home during the team’s off season break. Clara is a single mom to a 5 year old, Katie, and a wildlife biologist. Sly and Clara lived next door to each other as teenagers and Clara tutored Sly in math for a time. They both also unknowingly had unrequited crushes on each other. Despite the chemistry and the deepening connection the more time they spend together, there are lots of obstacles to a relationship and a lot of baggage to unpack. But what a funny, sweet, and steamy journey to their HEA it is. I have a soft spot for the people who are a bit uncomfortable in their skin because they don’t feel like they fit in or are worthy, like Sly. So I love when they finally see their truth and they get swoon worthy HEAs. I also loved that Katie was a wonderful and integral addition to the story rather than a flimsy story prop. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steam, laughs, messy families, painful pasts, surprises, and all the love. I am excited to read more in this series and I will never think about Yahtzee the same way again.

Since I’m already in love with this series from the prequel, Sly and Clara's romance was a no-brainer. There's so much to love about this one, sports romance fan, or not.

Sly and Clara knew each other growing up. They lived next door to each other and she tutored him in some of his classes. Then life happened and he became a famous hockey player. She got married, then divorced, and now lives back in her childhood home with her five-year-old daughter, Katie. Right next to Sly Remington's parents.

Sly is in for a big surprise when he comes home for his brother's wedding. Clara is still smart and even more beautiful, and little Katie has a way of keeping him on his toes. Then there's his matchmaking mother, throwing them together every chance she gets.

Small town, single parent, hockey player in an existential crisis, and epic team banter are just a few of the things you’ll find in this charming sports romance. It's laugh-out-loud funny, with plenty of steam and tons of heart, and little Katie steals every scene she’s in. If you’re looking for a fun, low angst romance, you'll love this phenomenal, heartfelt, delightfully entertaining read

I was waiting for this book; after the intro, Checking the Center, I need more of the Wilcox Wombats.
Sly plays for the Wombats, Clara is a single mom. She was the girl next door, his tutor, and out of his league. Sly is now home, and his mom has set him up. Be prepared to laugh and fall in love with this series. Katie will steal your heart as well.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

The way this guy could twist any comment anyone made that was remotely about him into an insult on his intelligence deserves an award of some kind because their entire mutual pining relationship was unnecessarily drawn out all because he kept feeling like he wasn't smart enough for her bc of the dumbest comments that weren't even insinuating that. So of course because he can't have the girl he wants, he has to spend the next 10 years being a manwh0re because puck bunnies are down on his level or something (major eye roll).

This could have been such a cute book despite all of that, but the grovel really sucked and was awkward all around (the thing he did in the bonus epilogue that you had to sign up for with an email account should have been used instead). But of course because she loves him and he also said those three little words to her, everything is magically okay now.

The book skipped all of the parts we needed to see, like his realization that he made a huge mistake before he suddenly showed up with a grand gesture weeks later. And it never addresses the fact that he kept wanting her to change her job and she really hated that, until he's mentally like, "she can wrestle bears for all I care, as long as she forgives me." It also never addresses how he heartlessly fcked her and left her naked and feeling used because he spiraled. But in this story apparently feeling love for someone you've rejected since you were a teenager, who has had you watch you choose everyone except them your entire life, and who you ran from when you got scared, is enough to make up for it all without offering any signs of actual self change.

They were also only shown together a few times before they realize they love each other and then there's the third act breakup. We're just told that it's been a few weeks, but it felt like much shorter because so much was glossed over.

On the surface, this is a cute book. It had all the right parts, it just skipped over letting us actually experience them.

Kudos for having a well written child character with a unique personality, like I would have read a whole book just about her days talking circles around the adults around her.

The Wedding Winger: A second chance, single mom, hockey romcom (The Zamboni Diaries)

By: Delancey Stewart

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Too hot to handle!

In this fun book from Delancey Stewardship we get Sly and Clara.
In what Sly might say is a missed change we get taken on a will they won’t they fun live story. The authors writing flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: I play pro hockey.
But despite being admittedly talented and unquestionably tough (not to mention devastatingly handsome), my future after the game is dangling precariously on thin ice.
I've been set on earning an MBA in the off-season, but a surprise wedding and a maternal summons means my summer study plans vanish like a hockey rink in a heatwave.

Enter Clara Connor: my high school math tutor, my unattainable teenage crush, and now my divorced next-door neighbor and mom of a mischievous little blond whirlwind named Katie.

My past is chirping in my ear and the gloves are definitely off.
Clara’s brilliant. She's beautiful. She's a force of nature (I mean… she wrestles bears for a living). And she’s still leagues away from a jock like me. My pursuit of an MBA? Not exactly a hat trick. But Clara steps in with an offer to help. And suddenly, I'm right back in high school - pining over the mathlete next door and wishing I had a snowball's chance in hell with her.

As Clara and I begin to spend more time together, and mom's matchmaking efforts become as transparent as ice after the Zamboni goes by, I need to figure out who I am off the rink.

Can I ever match up to a woman like Clara? Or will I forever be stuck in the penalty box of her perception, just the jock next door?

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

In the first full novel of this series, Sly and his neighbor Clara get a second chance at a relationship when he comes home for his brother's engagement celebration. Sly had a huge crush on Clara in high school but figured a smart girl like her would never go for a jock like him. But his mother is doing some serious matchmaking now, so he thinks maybe he will give it a shot. Now if he and Clara can get past their erroneous ideas about each other, maybe they can sort out the other obstacles in their way.
I enjoyed the characters in this one, especially Katie (Clara's daughter). She and Sly were very funny together. There is also a zamboni in here! You don't get that in many novels. I am looking forward to the books for the other guys on the team.

Clara Conner grew up living next door to Sylvester Remington, who would become the Wilcox Wombats right winger, In high school she was a sophomore tutoring him, as a senior, in algebra. Unbeknownst to each other, they both had very strong feelings for each other but never acted upon them. Twelve years later things changed and they finally got their HEA. It's a great book with several issues involving self-worth, self-love, and self esteem that I'm sure everyone will enjoy. I highly recommend this book!

If you are a fan of hockey romances you will like THE WEDDING WINGER for the team camaraderie and the family vibe. There is not a lot of the game itself since most of the story takes place in the off season.

Clara is an interesting character and I loved her mom persona with her daughter Katie. The author managed to get the right feel for the creative logic of a five year old. Her interactions with Sly were a fun part of the story.

It’s a good unrequited love-type second chance romance. I read an advance copy of the book from the author. This is my voluntary review.

Excellent Second Chance Romance. Great homecoming...Heartfelt, comical, romantic, sweet and spicy. Love this story it's engaging, their predicament is challenging and their attraction is magnetic. Who can resist such neighborly temptation. Characters are likeable, dealing with some realistic stuff pours out some raw familial and romantic emotions as everyone tries to work their way through rekindling and building, kept me entertained from start to finish. When picking up a Delancey Stewart book, I know I’m guaranteed a fun read!!! Her perfect formula of fun characters, interesting storylines, passionate moments, and sweet HEAs make each book a must-read.

I highly recommend reading this series in order. It will give you background and context to really enjoy the story. That being said, you won’t be disappointed when reading this as a stand-alone! (Because of course Katie steals the show!)

I received this book as arc member . Sylvester a hockey player goes home for his brother wedding and sees the neighbor he has had a crush on since high school . Her and her daughter Katie gets invited to several things next door . Sylvester believes he is just a dumb job and she is a smart biologist . Can this difference work ? Loved this story what a sweet way to ask for her hand in marriage and the parade to ask for forgiveness for being stupid breaking her heart . Way better then 5 stars . Want to read this book .

Delancey Stewart has done it again, loved this book & loving this series!! Sly & Clara were neighbors and unbeknownst to them had crushes on each other in high school. Sly comes home for his brother’s engagement party & sparks fly between him & Clara, who also has an adorable daughter Katie. This author always makes you laugh but you also experience all the feels in her books & this one is no exception. They both have their own insecurities to tackle to make their relationship work & they get through them together with the support of their friends & family. All of the characters are wonderful & I can’t wait for the next book!! A definite must read!! I voluntarily read for an honest review.

What an utterly adorable story. Sly and Clara have gone through teenage angst infatuation with each other. Grew up as neighbors and now it is finally their chance to live their HEA. Sly, the hockey god. Clara, the single mother nerd are so opposite they fit perfectly. Little Katie is a treat and a cold dose of young child reality. You will giggle, sigh, and swoon with this story that has a hint of heat. This story will leave you with a smile on your face.

Delancey Stewart lights the lamp with THE WEDDING WINGER (The Zamboni Diaries #1). Wilcox Wombats right winger Sylvester (Sly) Remington heads home for the summer. He does not expect his high school crush, Clara Connor, to be living next door. She is a single mom with a daughter, Katie.

I love that both Clara and Sly had crushes on each other in high school but thought they were out of each other’s league, Clara being smart and Sly the star athlete. They both have some insecurities they deal with in this story. I love Clara’s job. She is a biologist tracking bear. Katie is adorable. I appreciated how good Sylvester is with her.

THE WEDDING WINGER is a heartfelt and entertaining second chance romance. Like CHECKING THE CENTER (The Zamboni Diaries #0.5), THE WEDDING WINGER starts out with the insight of Julius Ramon, the Wilcox Wombat’s Zamboni Driver. It is an excellent addition to The Zamboni Diaries series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Oh my. This is my favorite book from Delancey so far and I have read nearly all her books. I’m not going to rant about players although I could be doing it all night. Just let me say that some of them are redeemable and this one is the perfect mix of insecure and skilled. He starts out with a foot in his mouth and grumpy behavior and ends up being a sweetheart.

The heroine is the good girl, nerd next door and has a few interesting things to learn that jock next door. The biggest thing is that he’s better off when he’s not hiding anything from his team and that he’s loved the way he is. After all she’s a bear wrestling kind of girl.

I’m loving this series and just want to sit here watching the ice freeze while I wait for more.

I’m new to Delancey Stewart’s ARC team so I haven’t read too many of her books, but so far, I’m a fan. This one is about Sylvester “Sly” Remington and Clara Connor, and her five-year-old daughter Katie. This is written by someone who knows kids and doesn’t throw them in as props to enhance a love story. Katie is a fully fleshed-out character with spunk and very strong opinions. From the start, I love how she reacted to Sylvester’s name—verifying that was, in fact, his name by sounding it out Siiiillllll-veeeessssst-errrr. He responds by calling her Kaaaaaattiiiiieeee. She dubs him Silvesterrrr, and uses that even when he’s not around to hear it. She’s endearing, but I especially love when she comments on his scent as reminding her of “dirty candy.” Clara compares it to caramel and leather, which sounds more yummy, but I guess it’s all perspective. I don’t know what dirty candy smells like, but when I hear caramel and leather (a much more sophisticated description) it makes sense.

Speaking of scents, when Sly goes home to visit his family, he suspects his mom has something up her sleeve and describes it like this: “Mom smiled, but didn’t say anything else as the scent of some devious plan wafted by on the breeze.” What a fun, poetic way to engage the senses in something that shouldn’t actually be experienced through olfactory means.

As it turns out, Sly and Clara always had secret crushes on one another as teens. She always saw him as the popular jock (hockey player) who could have anyone he wanted. Two years younger than him, she even tutored him in math when he was a senior and fantasized about him seeing her as more than just a nerdy, smart girl. He never let on that he did see her as a potential love interest because he thought she was so much better than he was and would reject him. It was a classic case of both being so blinded by their own insecurities, they allowed them to prevent possible happiness. Unfortunately, this is an insecurity that carries into Sly’s present life and he continues to believe he’s not smart enough, not good enough for Clara. He’s the one who has some serious growing and introspection to go through.

In a classic case of “like father, like son,” Sly laments his father’s behavior since his heart attack. “He was stubborn and angry, and possibly depressed. I’d tried to strike up a variety of conversations while we’d worked on the fence, but he was like a stone wall. It was hard to watch, and it was like he’d decided he wasn’t worth the effort it would require to change any of that. I hated seeing him like that.” It takes a while for Sly to realize he has been playing the same game, thinking he’s not worth the effort it would take to change people’s perception of him as more than a jock, or to allow himself to enjoy his relationship with Clara without the constant fear she’ll realize he’s dumb and dump him.

In his fear, Sly acts by running away, breaking Clara’s heart. And Katie’s, even though she doesn’t understand it. Luckily, he’s smart enough to reach out to the team psych for advice and is told, “Sylvester, there’s a very real chance that running away from the things that are difficult doesn’t eliminate them. Think of them like actual physical obstacles. You can turn back to avoid them, but then you don’t make any real progress on your path, right?... They’re still there. And until you actually deal with the obstacles, they’ll be in your way, making it impossible to get any real clarity to focus on anything.” He wisely takes her words to heart and vows to make everything right again. Knowing how badly he screwed up with Clara, he determines a simple apology is insufficient. What follows is a Hollywood-style, fairytale romantic gesture that’s both touching and funny. Katie’s reaction upon first spying him is especially poignant and spot-on for what you’d expect from a five-year-old little girl with a big personality.

I highly recommend the story. Of course, it ends with an HEA, which is why I have no qualms about sharing some of the details of the plot. However, I’ll leave the storytelling to Ms. Stewart who is more than up for the job.

I'm here for ALL the dirty candy!

Sly and Clara grew up as next-door neighbors, each with a seemingly unrequited crush on the other, who finally get their chance a decade after their high school years. Clara was Sly's younger math tutor, always thinking the popular athlete was well out of her league. Sly, likewise, felt that Clara was too beautiful and too smart to ever be interested in a dumb jock. A lot of the book focused on Sly's insecurities as he tries to establish a future for himself beyond his natural athletic ability.

I loved how the book was set up in three sections, like three periods of a hockey game, with an "interlude" in between each that gives us insight from the POV of the "matchmaker." I also loved how the girlfriends used a clever code to be able to discuss the romance over the head of the child in the room.

I really enjoyed the family connections, the banter between Sly and Clara, the camaraderie with Sly and his teammates, and I especially appreciated that the five-year-old was portrayed realistically, with age-appropriate attitudes and more depth than the usual perfectly precocious child that I've found in single-parent romances.

The only thing that kept this from being a five-star read was the way Clara compared her intimate relationship with Sly to that with her ex-husband:

"But sex with Zach was never like this. With him it felt like something to be done in the dark, handled and then moved on from. It felt sneaky and a little bit shameful even. This, with Sly, felt more like a destination to be explored, enjoyed."

OK, I get that we want the HEA relationship to be "the best they've ever had" but come on, it's 2023 and Clara is at least 50% responsible for the enjoyment and satisfaction in any relationship. It's not necessary to slam the ex's abilities in bed to convince us she's happier with her HEA mate.
Aside from this, the book was flawless and I enjoyed reading every single page.

I love this author's writing style and am looking forward to reading more in this delightful series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Sly and Clara’s second chance story in The Wedding Winger by Delancey Stewart, book one in her Zamboni Diaries series, is a heartfelt, comical, romantic, sweet and spicy small-town romantic comedy. Sly Remington plays professional hockey for the Wilcox Wombats while single mom Clara Connor, a single mom, wildlife biologist, and girl next door, were friends during high school. Sly and Clara knew each other growing up. They lived next door to each other and she tutored him in some of his classes; each crushing on the other. Then life happened and Sly became a famous hockey player. Clara got married, had a daughter, then divorced and now lives back in her childhood home with her five-year-old daughter, Katie; right next to Sly Remington's parents. Sly is in for a big surprise when he comes home for his engagement celebration. Clara is still smart and beautiful, and little Katie has a way of keeping him on his toes. Then there's his matchmaking mother, throwing them together every chance she gets.

Sly might have been a hunky hockey player, but his vulnerable side was exposed; with self-doubt and his future after hockey. Sly took quickly to Katie, considering he had no experience with kid; the interactions between these two were adorable, funny and heartwarming. It was cute how she called him Silly and pronounced Sylvester, all drawn out, and amazing that she was a little girl who loves pink tutus and pickup trucks. Clara had gone through so much and because of that, had no confidence with guys. Sly and Clara were amazing together; with sizzling chemistry, witty banter, and the camaraderie of the Wombats. I am excited to read more in this series and I will never think about Yahtzee the same way again. I highly recommend The Wedding Winger and look forward to the next story in this series.

5 Stars for this laugh-out-loud romance!

I loved Sly and Clara ... and especially Katie! I love it when there are kids in a story and Katie is one of my favorites ... she has her own little quirky personality. When Clara and her friend were talking about Yatzee ... I was laughing so hard that tears were running down my face. It was a nice change that the hunky hockey player was a little vulnerable and wasn't sure about how his life would go after hockey. I loved the way Sly took to Katie considering he had no experience with kids. And Clara ... I felt so sorry for her that she had gone through so much and had no confidence with guys. This is a great start to a new series and I can't wait for the next book!

Sly plays professional hockey for the Wilcox Wombats and he's beginning to think about his life after hockey. When he goes home for the off season, he's taken right back to high school with his big time crush on the smart good girl next door. The only thing that was good about Clara's marriage was Katie ... her daughter. A year after her divorce, her parents died so she moved into her childhood home. But when Sly comes home for his break, all those feelings she had in high school for her popular next-door neighbour come rushing back. She's seen pictures of the girls that Sly dates ... and she is nothing like them. Maybe they can be friends.

Retired himbos make the world go 'round, and Sly is no exception. He likes his life - and his women - simple and easy. Until his mom interferes. The hot next-door neighbor he crushed on in high school is back in town, and his mom is determined to throw them together.

Clara and her little girl, Katie, move into Clara's childhood home after her divorce and the death of her parents. Don't worry - the angst is off-screen, and the reader is left with a thriving little girl who loves glitter and construction equipment and a woman whose life is coming together.

When Sly re-enters her life, she's understandably cautious. She spent years pining over him only to be rebuffed. He was the popular jock every girl wanted, and she was the nerdy girl he couldn't possibly like. Or so she thought...

The Wedding Winger is an adorable second-chance romance full of laughs, family, and a dash of hockey. There were several kinds of love explored:

💜 The love of a mother and child
💜 The love of a father and son
💜 The love of the one who got away
💜 Learning to love yourself after a life of self-doubt

This book had so many wonderful layers and just the right amount of spice. Clara and Sly both fought for their relationship in different ways, and the way he took to Katie will make you swoon!

Thank you, Delancey Stewart and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is Book 1 of The Zamboni Diaries. I read the prequel and absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to read this one. I was not disappointed! This small-town, second chance charming romantic comedy captured my interest from the very beginning and kept me interested and engaged till the very end. Sly and Clara, unbeknownst to each other, have had a crush on one another since high school. Sly was the popular, out of her league jock, and he always saw her as the girl next door. Sly's life since he graduated college has been all about pro hockey, but now that he's older, he needs to figure out a plan about what comes next. When he comes back to town for his brother's engagement, his mother just might have something up her sleeve to help him with that and to give him a nudge in the right direction right towards Clara. Clara has a lot on her plate, being newly divorced and a single mom, but when the two get together, the sparks are still bright and strong between them. But despite the strong chemistry and the past connection they share, there are still obstacles and challenges they will need to face before reaching their HEA.
A very well-written and entertaining story that included a great cast of characters. I enjoyed the witty banter and dialogue, and all the sweet and funny moments throughout. Such a great story! I can't wait to continue the series!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

The Wedding Winger is the first full length book in the Zamboni Diaries series by Delancey Stewart.

This is the story of Sly and Clara.

Sly is a professional hockey player who is struggling with his worth outside of hockey and what his future beyond that may look like.

Clara is a single mom, wildlife biologist, who is also the girl next door.

Do high school crushes ever truly die or do they live dormant in our hearts? Sly and Clara shared mutual crushes on each other in high school but neither ever acted upon it. Years later they get a second chance when Sly visits home to celebrate his brother’s engagement. Can their younger selves’ fantasies live up to reality?

Clara cannot fathom how a guy like Sly could be interested in the nerdy girl next door while Sly does not believe that he is good enough for Clara and that everyone views him as the stereotypical “dumb jock”. Can they each overcome their insecurities and truly allow themselves the second chance they both deserve?
I loved the relationship between Sly and Clara’s young daughter, Katie. The interactions between these two were adorable, funny and heartwarming.

I truly enjoyed this book and recommend to anyone who loves a good second chance romance, dual POV romance, filled with humor, steam and love.

I look forward to the next book in the series!

4.5 Stars for The Wedding Winger (The Zamboni Diaries #1)
After reading the first book Checking The Center i was excited for this release and all I need to say is…I wasn’t disappointed and I believe Ms Stewart is certainly going to have a hit series on her hands. If you love romantic comedy, single parent romances look no further than this wonderful read.
Sly Remington plays professional hockey for the Wilcox Wombats (don’t you just love this teams name) and single mum Clara Connor is one of his friends from high school. Clara has crushed on Sly for as long as she can remember but believes she is out of his league. What she doesn’t know is the feelings are mutual and he has wanted her her since she tutored him in high school. So what happens when they are pushed together by his mum and then realise they both want the same thing. Will Clara take a chance and risk her adorable little girl Katie getting close to a man who may walk away……
This book ticked my boxes, I fell hard and fast for Sly, I adored Clara, the chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty, I loved the camaraderie of the Wombats but it was a little girl named Katie who loves pink tutus and pickup trucks that took this book to another level. A great addition to the series and I can’t wait for more romances from the Wombats ( I love this team name).
