Escaping ITEX in Florida, the Flock head west, with Max more burdened than ever by the knowledge that she's meant to save the world. But while their leader is keen to stay on the path leading to her destiny, Fang and the others are more interested in settling down and letting the chips fall where they may. With the Erasers eerily absent from their lives of late, has the Flock finally earned a bit of peace...or is this all just the calm before the storm?
Discovered by Yen Press Senior Editor JuYoun Lee, NaRae was able to make her U.S. debut working on a series that already had legions of devoted fans. It's a lot to live up to, but NaRae proved to be up to the challenge by delivering artwork that looks remarkably polished for a relative newbie to the world of international manga publishing.
I want to start out by saying that I've read the actual books, and that I know the graphic novels aren't suppose to be exactly like them or as good as them. But that doesn't mean they should be bad, making me not want to read them! Things wrong with them- 1) No enough detail/background -if I hadn't read the books, I would be kinda lost. 2) They take WAY to long to create-If it takes 12 months to make one of this poor of quality, I say something needs to change. 3)Out of all of the current five out, the fifth one is the worst! I don't like the spin of it at all. 4) About 1/6th of the book is ADVERTISING!!I wanted to read Maximum Ride, NOT Daniel X!!!!! The one good thing I have to say about this book, and the reason for the one star, is the drawings. I love the way the characters are portrayed. Good job on that. But the summaries? Needs lots of work.
The only thing that disappointed me in this volume of the series was that Narae failed to put in everyone's favorite line: "I vill no destroy de Snickhas bahrs." (Or however you spell it with that accent in mind.) I loved the artwork in this one. My favorite picture was one from the chapter pages, which was of Ari when he was younger with his older self. I loved the contrast between the two and think that the next volume will be just as enjoyable as this one was.
This took me exactly 1 hour to read. Pretty good but not my favorite. I'm realizing that it's getting a little repetitive with them being captured and escaping multiple times. And Fang annoyed me so much in this book. And not the cute way that he usually is but the annoying get out of my life way. He was also acting really strange and I thought it would be concluded but not really
'Maximum Ride, Vol. 5' is REALLY starting to pick up the pace. Lots of new action and ideas emerge in this lovely instalment. Angel does surprising things and Fang and Max finally admit their feeling for each other. Somewhat. HOORAY! I really miss the full colour drawings on the first few pages and have gotten used to reading manga. Big eyes are still weirding me out but are not a repellent anymore. The instalment also closely follows the original novel series which is awesome! Congratulations to James Patterson on having the FIFTH instalment in his series published!
SPOILER ALERT!!! The book I read was a graphic novel and the book was called Maximum Ride, Vol.5, and this book was written by James Patterson. The book was about the flock is heading west and them trying to stop the institute, and the school from the by-half plan. This book could have been about judging a book by its cover because if I would have judged the book by its cover I would've thought it was a bad book, but it was a good book. The last book was about how they were staying at Anne's house, and max thinks they should leave. The only thing is the rest of the group does not want to leave, because they are so close to thanksgiving and they want to have their first thanksgiving dinner. When they didn’t they got by the institute, and the school. The beginning of Maximum Ride vol. 5 was about them stuck in the institute because the were caught at the end of that last book. The middle of the book was about them heading west, and the flock think of a plan to stop the school and the institute from completing the by-half plan. The end of the book was them trying to stop the school and the institute and got captured. Since they got captured the school and the institute said that they will lead them to there death. Some of my favorite things about the book was that the group, even though the group would live from the by-half plan they still chose to save the human race. One thing i didn’t like was some of the group didn’t want to save the human race because if they didn’t the world would be controlled by the school and the institute. The one thing I liked about the author was that he put a lot of detail because it really helps you understand the book, and the setting. I also didn’t like how they didn’t explain as much as they could. I really liked this book the book was a good book to read. I would recommend to read this book. I really felt like there could have been a lot more information givin, and I also think there could have been a lot more details in the book as well. I don’t think it gave enough information to make it a 5 but, it was a great book so i would give it a 4.

I loved this book and thought that it was a great edition to the series. I have been hooked on this series and this book was one of my favorite books in the series. With an exiting plot and many unseen twists this book kept me at the edge of my seat. Truly making me want to read the next instalment of the series. I give this book a high rating because of its importance to the series and how much it made me want to read more. I finished this book in less than a day but it took me a while to update my progress on it. A quick, exiting and thrilling instalment of the series I give this book a high position on one if the top books that I have read this year.
I think Maximum ride Vol.5 is a good book because it has some action. They should have made the book longer though. I chose this book because I the first four books were really good and I wanted to see what happened later in the series. I think people who liked the first four books should read this one.
That's it. This is becoming my favorite series. And this volume was even better. And of course it ends at a cliffhanger. I thank you for that and am like really you're ending it there?! Cute cover. Oh and helps that I like Fang. He, he awesome. New favorite ship? Yes.
the book is cool and sad why becouse there lil sis is change a lot she got new powers and she becouse she thinks she is doing the right thing but she is not . there bis a trist in it geb help is sis get better and then the hole gang get awey
I think right this book and family escape from lab for about thing and angle wing like no human or something but leader family call Maximum can short name Max she elder older want protect her family but happen.
Dang, I really like this series! I'm a little bummed that I only have Vol 4 and Vol 5. I'll have to track the rest down. It's super creative and fun. I genuinely don't know what's going to happen.
The characters are awesome and the I think the Manga is beautiful.
MAN the plot twists in this one. I totally forgot about Angel betraying the flock. This was the last volume I read before they stopped being written, so the next installment is all new territory for me. And the cliffhanger? With Angel coming in with a bat and announcing-again- that it was time to die? But we don’t know if she’s talking to the Flock or the scientists? GAH.
The story starts to mature at this point and becomes a lot more chilling. It’s not dark, but it is a bit disconcerting. We find out that Itex/the scientists are planning to Thanos the world and cut the population in half. We don’t get a “why,” just that only “useful” people with skills will survive. According to them, everyone in the Flock, except for Angel, is not useful.
I’m so excited for the rest of the series to be delivered so I can find out if Angel faked her betrayal or not.

Um wow.. Okay, so this series is really weird I must say. But I've decided Fang and Angel are my favourite characters. Little sweeties. I am curious to see what happens next I guess but so far with the direction this series is taking, I think I would only recommend to people who are looking for something to do. It's not an outstanding series but the characters are cute and there are some cute scenes that I really enjoy. Though to be honest, at this point I am really reading this series for the art. It's so cuuute!! I love the artstyle and the character designs are just adorable (though does anybody else think that Max's hair grew back way too quickly??)
This book+Me=WHAT! Everything that happened in this book surprised me. GET THE NEXT BOOK FIRST! Don't say I didn't warn you.
PARENT NOTE: The images are about the same as the other books. As in scariness. But this book has some things that happen to the main characters that might be scary to younger children. Message me for more details.
AGE RECOMMENDATION: 12 and up.
VIOLENCE: Same amount if not less than the other books. It is still up there though.
Open up this can of worms called betrayal and backstabbing! The flock is on the run again and the whitecoats seem to be one step ahead of them. Plus that last volume hinted about expiration dates. Not good.
The volume ends with a preview of another one of James Patterson’s young adult novels as a manga. Daniel X. Except this one is for volume 2 of that series so I skipped it for fear of spoilers.
This series is based on the James Patterson novel series Maximum Ride.
Max and Fang go off on their own wanting to talk about their situation away from the others. Max and Fang stop at Dr. Martinez'. Max wants the chip in her arm removed but there's a risk her arm won't function afterwards. They find the flock gone when they return and must find them. Following 'the voice' in her head Max has a plan. But hiding, running, getting caught and freed over and over is taking its toll on all of them. They need rest from everything. At least the erasers haven't been chasing them. Where have they gone?
Important Note: The rating is for Lee Narae's illustrations ONLY; please read my series review of the original books by James Patterson here if you'd like. Spoiler alert: the books suck. I only read the manga adaptations because I was reading the books at the same time and it's a shame the beauty of the illustrations is wasted on such a shitty series.
The story starts of a bit confusing and a chapter later that when it starts getting interesting with Jeb being ordered to kill the Max and the others, and if he does not he going to be killed. Close to the end they meet up with doctor and he daughter and they finally took out the chip that was used to follow. Lastly she wakes up and finds out that the last 5 mounts (5 Vol) were a experiment to see how real they could make a dream.
The author of the graphic novel did a great job fitting a jam-packed story into such a small amount of pages. The shading in the book is amazing! The line technique is cool and I just love how NaRea makes the hair look so flowy and soft. But the original book is always better than the comic version or the movie, and I have to say that that is definitely true for this book. Suspenseful cliff hanger! Would not recommend it for ages under 11.
I was quite surprised with certain characters and the turn of event the story took. I am not quite sure where the story is going but I am all in for the ride!
P.S. I started reading this series of manga yesterday and I am already on the 7th volume! It is so addicting and fun to read.
Another average book with some very good moments and some just okay moments. I must say that the date stamps are a rather good idea but I don't think that it was executed as well as it could have or should have been. I agree that it was done in a way that supports the story but I think it could have been discussed in another manner.
This series continues to be good and keep me entertained. I will have to read the actually novels I decided. I'm into the story enough that I would like to see some more meat to it. The artwork continues to be awesome and the budding romance between Fang and has me smiling. It looks like the next installment comes out this winter and I will wait for it with enthusiasm.
I thought this book was good because in the middle of the book Max and the other woke up at the school they don't like and everything they did in the past was all a dream, the dog they loved was all a dream too, and they miss Total the dog too. SO SAD!😭
The cover is just amazing like it can’t get much better than this whoever did this cover I would marry them in a heartbeat I am so glad I read this book in person the cover felt oddly good too 😭 bby the book was good too
