Nhys Glover is an Australian born award-winning author of over 75 romance novels. She is known for blending heart, heat, and a touch of the extraordinary in her stories. From time-traveling lovers to soul-deep polyamory connections, her work explores love in all its transformational forms. Now living in Durham County UK, Nhys draws on her background in teaching and spiritual inquiry for inspiration in her writing. As she sits at her desk, staring out at the windy moors, she often reflects on what it means to stay human in an increasingly digital world. It is, after all, the subject of her newest book, a non-fiction called Authenticity, as Taught by a Machine. But no matter the genre, Nhys is always chasing one thing: the truth at the heart of every story.
I read most time travel novels that I can find. Most of them don’t explain how things are done very well. These three books were such a pleasant surprise. All details were thoroughly explained. The premise of retrievals was well thought out and well executed. All in all very enjoyable books.r
I haven't read a sci fi book in decades but I'm glad I read this one. It is about time travellers set in the year 3031.The human race is dying out because of wars, global warming and pandemics. Human clones travel back in time to try and save civilisation. There is also some romance. Well worth a read.
The apocalyptic furious this writer immerses us in gives us a few very pleasant hours. I personally find myself living beside her characters on one side and wishing there was such a place to go on the other side.
I bought the bundle books 1-3 (you save $$$) and it was well-worth the money ($1.30 at the time).
That being said, these books were hard to put down, the characters were well developed, the scenery well described, the feelings well sensed.
As per the author's website, the series contains 13 books. All the characters are in and out of these books. They all have their HEA ending, but it’s better to read them in order as the characters evolve.
They have the same outlines, without them being boring: Time-Travel/Sci-Fi: It happens during the years 2300’s, sometimes recalling the 22nd century when they lost everything, which made them survivors. Suspense: An exception always happens against their Rules and they cannot do otherwise than adapt, which they are not used to because no one ever went against those Rules before. Romance: Between the one in her/his own time and the one that travels through time. Sex Scenes: Not too many and instead of sexual satisfaction they are mostly to assuage the pain from the past, the guilt, the fears.
I took one star off because: 1. There is nothing in between completely different paragraphs in people, place, and time. You don’t realize it when you read until you don’t understand what you’re reading, two lines down; then you have to restart the paragraph. 2. The word “ubiquitous” is used too many times, sometimes a few paragraphs over (and over again). It always when the author describes the clothing they wear.
I'm not going to lie to you, this one quite a big read at 468 pages, and divided over 3 books.
Overall, it was enjoyable: even eliciting a little bit of a tear at the end.
However, each of the three was a little of the formulaic side ..... i.e. person retrieved from our reality, and taken forward in time to the New Atlantis, fall in love with the rescuer, go on a mission with them, live happily ever after. Going forward I hope that the Author injects a bit more twists into the whole series.
Having said that, each book was inter-twined, and moved the whole plot forward. Still leaving somewhere to go for new books.
I happily bought into the plot, and the pace was mostly okay, although in a couple of places it dipped a little.
Not too many errors/bug bears (and I will list those, as usual, on my Blog Post #367 in August 2013, if anyone is interested.
Yeah, it's sort of cheesy now and then, and a bit repetitive (but in this series it makes sense to a certain extent), but as a wise friend once told me, "hey, a girl's gotta have a little romance". Well, this is just the right amount. I do like the writing style and have enjoyed getting to know the characters (some storylines more than others). I liked this and bought all the other ones in the series.
I really like the idea of this novel. The characters are regenerated in the new Utopia named after the original Atlantis, and time travel to collect more residents. I found several typos though, which interrupted the flow.
