Book Two of the Reckless Series A New Adult College Romance
The engaging continuation of Ellie and Logan's love story that began on a hot August night in Reckless Longing...
Ellie
My bitch of a mother kept a family secret from me for nineteen years. I outsmarted her and found out what it is. Now I should be deliriously happy. I am happy. Except…I have to keep it from Logan. At the same time, I know I should tell him. If he finds out by accident, he'll hate me and feel betrayed. But it's complicated and I have to wait until things fall into place or it will cause problems for my newly found dad.
And Logan is wrestling with his own demons. Because of me. Dex and I just meant to prank our hideous chem prof. We didn't mean to hurt anyone, least of all Logan. If I'd known it would expose his secret, I never would have done it. I love him so much. I can't lose him. I won't. I just hope he can forgive me.

Reckless Secrets starts where the first book left of. Ellie finally started dating Logan. Now, for the first time in ages, she wants to be happy and enjoy being in love. Unfortunately, between Ellie and Logan lay to many secrest and lies to make her forget how fragile their relationship is. She can’t tell him Jason is her father… Logan still didn’t entirely opened up to her.
The great oppurtunity to see Jason fruited. Now, she finally knows who her father is and how his life looks like. Ellie and Jason have to build a bond. Bond they should have shared in the last twenty years.
Logan has to fight against his father and himself. He finally wants the closure. After what happened to him, he knows he have to do something to completely heal.
Ellie and Logan both suffer on their own. Even as a couple, they don’t share every secret. And when secrets start to pile up and catastrophe is waiting to happen, consequences can be disasterous.
This time Robinson’s story is not a only great romance, but also novel about family. It’s about relationship between main characters as well as about their relationships with parents. Jason and Harlan had really important part in Reckless Secrets and made it more complex and enaging read.
Robinson greatly pictured how important is family as well as how dysfunctional and hurtful it can be. Sometimes whe have to forgive, learn from our mistakes and open up to people. I adored how Ellie and Jason worked on father – daughter relationship. It was sweet and full of love.
Logan and Harlan’s relationship was even more complicated. After I met Logan’s father in Reckless Longing, I didn’t think highly of him. Here, he’s still an ass, but somewhere deep inside, on his own way, he cares about Logan.
I enjoyed reading Reckless Secrets. It was nice follow up to the first installment. Characters I fell in love with were still present and very much unique. Gina Roberton still rocked her easy style of writing, that isn’t overwhelming. It was nice and effortless way of telling the story.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t as hooked on the sequel as I was on the first book. I had a hard time with uderstanding the need to constantly lie or keep secrets. Few times, Ellie really pissed me off. She’s really reckless.
Overall, Reckless Secrets is 3.5 star read. Pleasurable romance story that touches few other topics and has a wonderful bunch of characters, that made me laugh, more than few times.

Plot
Reckless Secrets has even more secrets (Hence, the title!) Reckless Secrets was a lot more predictable than Reckless Longing, which made it less interesting and engaging for me. I wasn’t actively engaged in this one because I knew what would happen. It was really easy to see trends in this novel. In addition to that, it was a lot more repetitive. It even had a ton of phrases that were word for word. The plot was still enjoyable but the writing wasn’t as effective as it was in the previous novel, nor was the plot sequencing.
Leading Lady
Ellie was much the same in this installment. She is feeling guilt in this novel over keeping a secret from Logan but is too scared that that secret will ruin what they have. I didn’t agree with her on that front and found myself thinking badly of her because of it. You would have thought that she would have learned a lesson about keeping secrets from the events in the first novel but she hadn’t. I’m still waiting on that particular area of character growth from her.
Leading Male
Logan was suffering in this novel with his secret being out. He was pretty hot and cold in this novel to me as he dealt with the things he had to deal with. Add in the fact that Ellie is hiding secrets from her and you get a really frazzled Logan. However, at no point did I waver from my undying affection for his character because he was so real. He wasn’t one of those perfect book boys and he wasn’t one of those tortured soul book boys. He was his own, unique character.
Romance
The romance in this novel hit some all time lows in this novel. Once again, this romance stood out for it’s realness. The characters weren’t perfect and their relationship wasn’t perfect. They had communication problems, they were hiding secrets from each other, and they were dealing with stuff personally. They weren’t together for all of this novel and they didn’t pretend that everything was fine like I’ve seen other book couples do. Something about them just made me love them.
Other Characters
We see a lot more of Jason in this novel. Jason is Ellie’s father and Logan’s boss and mentor. He was the cause of a lot of problems as Logan saw Jason and Ellie getting closer and of course, secrets are revealed. However, I liked seeing Jason and Ellie’s relationship grow and I liked seeing Logan and Jason’s relationship.
Conclusion
I didn’t love Reckless Secrets as much as I did Reckless Longing but it was still an interesting continuation of Logan and Ellie’s story. Complete with a romance on the rocks and more secrets than you can imagine, it’s still a series that I highly recommend. Even with the plot being a bit predictable, I can’t wait to read their conclusion.
Sigh, after reading Reckless Longing as an ARC on Netgalley and being thoroughly disappointed with a cliffhanger ending... as predicted I bought Reckless Secrets 2. I wanted to like this book and there was so much potential to make this romance more than just a cheesy, angsty, young adult story. Unfortunately, the author decided to use numerous cliches and tropes. Everything was predictable and again, I was rather upset that I have to purchase book 3 to get any closure. I'll shoulder some of the blame since I voluntarily choose to read a YA romance. I'll save myself the trouble and find another suitable series to read instead of reading the next installment in the series.
Here's some of my gripes with the book:
1. Ellie's backbone is made of soggy spaghetti noodles. Logan disrespects her numerous times in Book 1 and 2, yet she does nothing and begs him not to shut her out. Logan's family disrespects her and plays her like a fiddle, she offers some glib replies yet does nothing.
2. The concept of all-consuming true love in college is a bit overstated in YA books. Their romance felt a bit fake. Most college students are drunken, adrenaline-seeking, hornballs. Love does happen but the super sappy, found-the-love-of-my-life-in-a-month cliche didn't quite fit for Logan and Ellie's story.
3. Angsty love. I love Dawson's Creek and Felicity just like everyone else, but those shows depicted angsty, gut-wrenching romance like it was the norm for young 20 year olds. And the Reckless series seems to be doing so as well. Sometimes people are just happy to be in love and without the drama. Then again, maybe some unpredictable drama would've been beneficial to this book.
4. Lies and lies. Ellie lies to Logan for the duration of their relationship even though Logan had come forward rather early. The hypocritical aspect of Ellie's personality was irksome. She was incredibly nosey about Logan's personal problems but refused to share own.
5. WHAT ABOUT AUSTIN?!! Man I was hoping Austin would come back and give Logan a run for his money. With all of Logan's past sexual pursuits being bandied about, one would think Ellie would have another genuine love interest waiting in the wings. Alas, she gets stuck with creepy Byron and a platonic friendship with her math study buddy.
6. No one thinks to put Logan into counseling/therapy? Usually school's make that an option when dealing with sexual assault. Or responsible parents advocate for it. Also, no counseling/therapy for attempted suicide either? Or a semester off? Come on... make this a bit realistic.
PS- WHAT DOES ELLIE LOOK LIKE? Logan keeps saying that she's beautiful but doesn't even know it. The author doesn't bother to give Ellie a description which is perplexing to say the least.
I'm so freakin' happy that this I got the chance to read these amazing book! So happy that I LOVE this amazing book!!! It's so refreshing when reading a book that you ABSOLUTELY love!
This books picks back up right where the first book left off. The longing has been eliminated. Ellie finally has that relationship with her dad, she's dating Logan and things are on high for her. The secrets - as little as they may have seemed - grew and multiplied, and I was nibbling on my nails, knowing the outcome would not be good!
On one hand I completely understand Ellie's hesitation to open up to Logan. Both with her dad and Byron. He's been through alot and his impulsiveness isn't really something she like. But then on the other hand, I think she needed to trust Logan more (though from reading the story and seeing it as an outsider - he pissed me off alot.)
Logan was the type of guy who got by with a smile, a humorous joke. He was always hiding behind his easy going persona. And when he's lying, he did it with ease. Like the words were his to command and express on demand. I hated and loved him for that. Ellie fell victim to it each time.
Finding out his past kind of annoyed me, understandably, one is entitled to have a past. But the fact that he was ignorant to Ellie's feeling or uncomfortable persona when he's around Amber (especially). I also hated that he didn't give Ellie any chance to explain herself - because as much as I felt she was stupid to not trust him at times - he turned out to act EXACTLY how she feared!
Sigh.
There's secrets kept them at arms length but they worked through it :D Made up in the BEST WAY possible ;)
And it ended with the promise of something more. And at this point, I'm extremely happy I don't have to wait xD
I'm really glad Ellie got to find her dad (whom I love!) He easily picked up the role of a dad, and despite not overstepping in a way that becomes too much he still made his point clear. I still have my theories about her mom. Especially because when she mentioned who she was to her dad's wife - the lady seemed close to fainting xD
Shit just got real and am bout to dive in with vigor

Secrets always find there way of coming out and you would think that Ellie and Logan would learn there lesson, but nope.
More secrets, more drama.
For Ellie part of her dreams come true but due to her secrets it backfires in her face.
For Logan he has his own demons which also cause term oil in their relationship but he knows what he wants which is Ellie, only to have her truth come out and shake his trust in her.
After cooling off and Ellie trying to move on she finally gives in to start over without Logan only to have him right back in her life where he belongs.
However, with this couple you know things aren't going to be easy and more trouble is brewing with Ellie's unstable mother and Logan's trial.
The story is good and I am hooked to find out what is going to happen to these two and see if their love can survive both of their family dramas, and if they can finally learn to communicate and STOP keeping secrets.

3 stars There were so many good parts to this story: from a swoony romance with a reformed bad boy to secrets all over the place.
This picked up right where book 1 left off, and I enjoyed the fact that I could read these two back to back. Logan and Ellie both have secrets, but it appears most of Logan’s secrets are out. Ellie, on the other hand, holds Logan to a different standard than herself and keeps secret after secret after secret from him. I will admit, I was pretty frustrated with Ellie in this book and wanted to shake and yell at her. I loved Logan almost the entire book…he had that temper that we got to see erupt, and while I wished he wouldn’t fly off the handle, I still loved him so much.
I also really loved Ellie’s relationship with Jason, and found it was a storyline that I really couldn’t get enough of. He was such a great guy. I didn’t get the relationship with Logan’s mother though. It seemed like there might be a story there, but I wasn’t sure. She was definitely a bitch though.
I wasn’t crazy about the Byron storyline, as it seemed a little over the top and too coincidental with Logan’s chemistry teacher issue. However, while I loved Dex before, it showed me that I loved him even more after this story. He is a fantastic friend to Ellie and a fantastic secondary character.
The ending was in a good place for some things, but almost a cliffhanger as it set up book 3. I feel disappointed in Logan for doing what he did, but maybe all the reasons will come out in the next book. I honestly have no idea where it will go! There are still so many secrets between Ellie and her mother that I can’t even begin to guess.
Would I rec this series? Yes, it’s a nice love story with a very swoony guy and loads and loads of secrets. While many parts are predictable, it was a fun, sweet, and great read.
I couldn't put this book down! I don't know why because I have exams and desperately need to study but hey YOLO. (Yes I YOLO for books). I love that this characters are so real. I especially loved all the secrets. I know you're supposed to trust and blah blah blah in a relationship but that's sometimes easier said than done. This book shows that. I can't wait to start reading the next one.
**My thanks to NetGalley and Aspendawn Books, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This is the second book in the series and cannot be read as a stand a lone book.
This book continues to follow Ellie and Logan and starts where book one finished, however as the title suggests there are more secrets to come out and lots more angst to follow.
Ellie has her main secret, the fact that Jason Front is her father, along with the fact that her Study TA is hitting on her in a stalkerish way. Again it is her friend Sex that helps her out with her TA in quite an amusing fashion, her really is a good friend.
Logan proves he has a bit of a temper in this book and Ellie finally gets to start to get to know her father and vice verser, however when the new comes out people are hurt and it causes a bit of a rift. Ellie also get to meet Logans family and feels a bit out of place at his house, and they are often thwarted by his mum when they have a few moments alone.
By the end of the book we have some questions answered and some things resolved, however book three will continue their story and we are left with a little bit of a cliff hanger so we know the next problem is going to revolve around Ellie's mum.
This review is for al 3 books in the series. What a great story. So much secrets and lies. The developing relationship between our main characters is not an easy road but with the good and bad advice offered by friends and family our characters seem to find a way to make things work. Can love overcome everything. This is definitely a one click series.
Ellie has found her father but finding him does that means she's lost her love. With this professor riding everyone what will they do to get better grades anything? But Logan is hiding secrets too. What happens when all the secrets begin to unravel.
Oh my goodness! I was so happy that Ellie and Logan finally made it official! I was glad to see them as a couple. Even with all the secrets they had with other they made it work. Can't wait to read the last book and see how it all ends! 🌹💛
WOOHOO! This book was totally what I was looking for for these two ; logan and Ellie...I am so happy, still jumping from the excitement that went on in this book!!! I was a bit pissed off at the beginning and middle of the story, but we all need a little sad/emotional moment in stories.
I just adore the chemistry between Logan and Ellie I won't stop repeating it because it is so true, so cute and pure <3! Even tho at some parts I was like biting my finger nails off because I hated how Logan had reacted when he found out about Ellie's secrest,I understand that he was hurt before and raped...also that he was probably going to lose one of the closest person to him,but I would of wished he would of reacted more mature. Everyone has their way of doing it but yeah I think that part right in the middle almost end of the book got me so angry I had to finish the book to see what was going to happen to this awesome couple!!! Jason and Ellie, father and daughter...I enjoyed their relationship it was just so adorable to see Ellie finally being able to enjoy her family time without her horrible mother around. She has finally gotten to the pouint in her life where everything seems to fall in place...except maybe her mom coming around soon...in the next book??? Yeah!? haha I can't wait to read that one,I really love this reckless series <3!
P.S. I really hated Amber I don't know why I just did she pissed me off so badly...I would of been mad/jealous also if I was Ellie...grrr
But everything ended very well, glad they got it going on in the bedroom woohoo!! SHHH haha <3 Thank you again Gina Robinson for an amazing story ;3

Ellie Martin and Logan Walker have managed to get past a secret that could have destroyed Logan’s life. She has gotten closure to the mystery of her biological father. She has put distance between herself and her mother. They are in love. Life should be good. But Ellie still has a secret. This secret could destroy their relationship as well the lives of others. Although she knows who her biological father is, nobody else knows. If this secret comes out it could destroy friendships, careers, lives, and families. Most of all it could destroy Logan’s love for her.
This book is an emotional rollercoaster. It takes the reader from highs to lows. It exposes the characters weaknesses and strengths.
Although Logan and Ellie are damaged, they are both very positive and strong characters. They are smart people and in the end they make smart choices.
Now they have to move on in life. They have to find a way to put their past behind and move forward. That is if they can get their families to cooperate. Reckless Secrets ends on another cliffhanger. Ellie’s mother is back and she will stop at nothing to cause Logan and Ellie trouble.
Reckless Together , Book 3, and the final conclusion of Ellie and Logan’s story will be out early 2014. I can’t wait! I love this couple.
"Secrets have a way of find the light." Logan and Ellie are together but as the secrets and lies start to slowly come to light things become strained. Will they be able to work through it all or will it crack under the pressure.
"Why is there always a downside to happiness?"
I loved this books. For those of you who haven't read the previous book Reckless Longing I highly recommend you readers to check out this book and then check this book out. I loved that there was so much going on, bunch of drama to keep to keep the readers interested. I enjoyed watching a bunch of the secrets hiding reveal itself. I was surprised towards the end of how it turned out. Loved the characters. Still hate Ellie's mother. Overall I enjoyed this book.
If I had to choose which book I liked better it would be the first book. There was just more of everything when it come to it. I would love to elaborate on that but I don't want to ruin the book. I wouldn't call this book absolutely amazing but I still really enjoyed this book and recommend you readers to check it out.
"I felt lighter, like a burden had lifted. My experiance with Austin had taught me about forgiveness and making genuine apologies. All i could do was apologize and take responsibility for my part. Whether Logan forgave me or not was totally up to him"
Ellie and Logan know all about secrets. With secrets comes lies, deception, and the ‘snowball effect’. Logan has dealt with the tragedy that occurred to him at the hands of his Chemistry teacher. He and Ellie have managed to keep their relationship going despite all of the obstacles before them. Some of the pressures that resulted from all of the secrets should be a weight off their shoulders.
For Ellie - that weight keeps getting stronger. Knowing who her biological father may be has come with it’s own set of problems. The secret she holds comes with the fear of the truth. The realization that so many people will be hurt by the truth. Yet keeping secrets can have a disastrous affect on those around you. Something that Ellie and Logan will learn the hard way.
Reckless Secrets is the second installment of the Reckless series. It details more into the obstacles that Ellie and Logan face with trust and honesty. While this novel is a great YA read, I found many aspects of the story plot predictable. Even with that said, I find myself wanting to know where the third book in the series will take Ellie and Logan.

This story starts right where Reckless Longing left off. Logan and Ellie are left in the middle of Dad's weekend and Ellie has found closure for who her father is. Of course keeping secrets is not always a good thing and they have a way of coming out when those hiding them are not ready for them to come out.
I thought that this story did a good job of continuing the story from the first one. I loved Ellie and Logan together. They appear perfect for each other. They are both strong people who are willing to do risk their life for the other. I like the way that the author continued their relationship.
Another relationship that was built in this story was the relationship between Ellie and her father. This relationship was risky in the beginning but it was nice to see and read about.
I know there is one more book in this series and I am curious as to how the author will end. This book ended up more resolved then the first one, there was no big cliff hanger so I am curious to see how it continues. I am definitely interested in read the final book as I thoroughly enjoyed reading Reckless Longing and Reckless Secrets.
This is a great series with a slight roller coaster feel to it. By 20% in I had already giggled out loud, teared up and got mad. Ellie is trying to make it through college with so many things trying to pull her down. Between her mom and ex haunting her mind, searching for her father, and dealing with a boyfriend with his own basket of issues I wasn't sure if she was going backwards or forwards in getting her life together. She finally gets answers to all her questions and that itself was heart wrenching. Dex and her girl friends are so awesome in helping her get through all the hard times. I loved Logan because he's a smart bad boy, that tries hard to prove himself to his family but ultimately needs to prove what he's worth to himself. He has so many issues that he's constantly fighting with himself and taking it out on Ellie. Logan is your average boy that doesn't think some things are important to share with his girlfriend, so there were fights and tears through all that. Don't we all know one of those? Lol I loved this book and look forward to the next one.

When I first started reading this book, I was intrigued by the first line simply by the way she wrote it. ‘My bitch of a mother has kept a secret for 19 years’
First I will say she is an amazing writer. In her book she gives you a sense of love but at the same time there is heartbreak. There are parts of the book that you just can’t find that moment that sucks you into the book. Ellie, or El is insecure about everything from family to her love life with Logan.
In this book there is so much insecurity that it dominates the book and takes over the romance you expect to see in a college romance novel. However, the parts that show the love story are sweet in their simplicity.
The cliffhanger at the end leaves you waiting for that next book praying that it only gets better for Luke and Ellie. If you enjoy a book that doesn’t base everything around love making I recommend this book, but if you read a romance novel simply to have that hot factor it lacks in that regard.
This is a pretty good continuation of Ellie and Logan's story. Ellie finds out that Jason Front is her father but he wants to keep it a secret for a little while because of his wife. Ellie wants to tell Logan but doesn't want to upset Jason and she doesn't want Logan to think she was using him. Some of Logan's secrets and past have come to the light and he has to deal with that.
Ellie is now happier than she's been but she's still having to keep secrets. She loves Logan and just wants to be with him but she's worried that he will feel betrayed when the truth comes to light. She wants to finally have a family that loves her but Jason is worried about his wife. She's still hurt and confused about her mother and her ex-boyfriend.
Some of Logan's secrets have come to light but there are more that he keeps inside. He's a really good guy and so many girls want to be with him. But he only has eyes for El. He doesn't want to be with anyone else but he doesn't want to hurt other girls feelings or hurt them. He does some really good things for others.
Note: in order to fully appreciate this book, read the first book before picking this one up. You will not regret it.
I loved how everything came together in this novel.
Ellie finally got the supportive and loving father she always deserved to have. Even though the process of getting to know her father was smooth, revealing Ellie's existence to her father's family had it's own heart wrenching moments and complications.
Ellie got to know Logan's family and managed to see for herself that this perfect young man has not only demons to fend himself, but also a family who is more preoccupied with their image rather than the well-being of the family members.
Logan was finally able to put his past behind him, but at what cost?
A stupid prank ended up having much more meaning behind it and led to a sweet revenge and justice being served on a silver platter. Fabulous!
Honestly, the pieces could not have fallen into place any better! What a great novel!
This was one of those books that I've put on hold because of that freakin' funk (still kinda suffering from it as of the moment. Bummer.) and decided to finish it now because I realize I have a few pages left...so...yeah.
Compared to the first book, I might probably have liked this more. If I remembered it correctly, the first book was kinda mediocre at best, although I liked the characters because they weren't that annoying and this lacked something that I can't really point out, maybe because it's really nothing new in the new-adult world? But...I still decided to read this that I might probably forget the plot and characters weeks from now. But, yes, the story line isn't really new but I'm on that angsty, I-want-to-read-some-kind-of-breakup mood and thankfully, this have one. Sometimes, the mood counts, y'know?
Looking forward for the next book...even if I have an idea of what would probably happen.

I better start off by saying that I've not read the previous book in this series so, I was coming at this story totally unaware of what had already happened between the 2 MCs but with the author managing to recap on the most pertinent parts in this book I did not feel that I was missing anything.
Gina Robinson has produced a great story, full of angst and emotion, twists and turns, plots and sub-plots, break-ups and make-up and yet I found this to be an enjoyable easy read. There were some great secondary characters as well, especially Dex and his "where's Ellie" pranks.
The book finishes on a cliff-hanger and I will definitely be looking out for the final part of the series as I can't wait for the HEA - if in fact there is one.
