Defying Gravity is a rare gem in the vast sci-fi universe. It nabbed me from the beginning with two fascinating characters starting great adventures themselves. Linia is a sweet young alien with a high intelligence yet little experience outside of her lovely and safe home world of Persea. Alezandros comes from a hard life on Medusa and seeks something better for himself and his family. Linia and Alezandros are suddenly thrown together when their peoples battle and a wormhole swallows them, causing them to crash into a post-apocalyptic earth. Captured by humans, they must work together to escape, and only by reading the story will you get to find out the explosive conclusion!

Fighting Gravity starts you off right in the middle of the action, and I was on the edge of my seat through the whole thing. The image Cherie paints of an Earth hit by an asteroid is harsh and dismal, but not without hope. Marissa has the light of hope in her heart. She's sweet and compassionate, and though she's rightfully afraid, she has the courage to do what's necessary when the time comes. Phoebus is from a cold and war-hungry people who make themselves into something more by infusing themselves with daimons. It's fascinating and terrifying at the same time. The Aresians are a complex culture and the daimons a mystery. This aspect really intrigued me because I didn't know what Phoebus' daimon would do next. This story is light on the romance, so I believe sci-fi and dark fantasy fans will love it.

Pulling Gravity is my favorite book in Cherie's Gravity collection. It's not as dark and gritty as the previous two. It's full of wonder and colorful imagery that made me fall in love with Cupidis as Nike did. Cherie's descriptions are beautifully written and left me in awe. Nike is a strong and unique heroine. She's more a tough Sigourney Weaver type than the typical softer romantic lead. Edonys was a surprise to me too. He has every opportunity to be vain and arrogant, but he has so much heart. I love that the relationship grows organically outside of their duties to their peoples.

Three science fiction novelettes come together in this one book and all three stories revolve around a central theme, falling in love against all odds. One of the things I enjoyed in each story was Cherie’s worldbuilding. I was easily transported to her various worlds, from the barren and dying planet of Medusa, to the rich and glistening purple beaches of the Cupidian world. Cherie does an equally amazing job creating her alien species, vastly different but all must overcome tremendous obstacles in the fight for survival and love. Overall, the book is very well written, the action sequences keep you riveted to the page and each story had a character that I fell in love with. I also enjoyed seeing how each of these three stories overlapped by the end and hope Cherie decides to continue this series, or maybe expanded on the trilogy to write a longer piece.

I love all three of the Gravity books, and it's great to see them all together in a trilogy. If you enjoy space fantasy stories, you will love the adventures of Alezandros and Linia, Marissa and Phoebus, and Nike and Edonys.

Reich's writing is also entertaining and her books take you away to a different world. All of the characters in the Gravity books are well-drawn and compelling, and they pull the reader in to their adventures with ease. Fans of romance, adventure, science fiction, and fantasy will all find something to enjoy in the Gravity trilogy.

Having read this trilogy, gravity takes on a whole new meaning. I love the way Cherie injects the strength of the gravitational pull of love and makes it a force for good. Even though each story mainly includes aliens - ahem, outer space aliens - there is the constant evidence of the universality of love. I would certainly read the trilogy again.

Great collection of three "out of this world" stories. All are sci-fi related and have the added influence of love between the different races involved.
I really enjoyed all three of the stories. I loved the characters too. I have reviewed them all individually in more detail.

Imaginative and fun, I really enjoyed this romp through the galaxy and a glimpse at Earth's future. This author has a great way with characters. Although all three stories were enjoyable, I especially liked the last. I look forward to reading more of Cherie Reich's work.

I bought this collection as three separate books but decided to review it as a trilogy. The three stories take place in the same universe and while not particularly linked in terms of story, share common themes.

First of all I was highly impressed by the amount of world-building that Reich has achieved in a short space. Each story can easily be read in a day, yet you get the sense of a completely constructed world with enough back story to give you a sense of what motivates the characters yet not being overloaded.

Each story features characters from different alien races meeting and falling in love, against the conventions of their people and in two cases, in the face of open hostility between the races. This romance element makes for something different in the sci-fi field. The only drawback was that by the last book, the outcome feels somewhat inevitable. There were also quite a few similarities between the first two stories (both feature the couples meeting in imprisonment scenarios) and given the settings these are both quite grimy in feel. The last story was quite different, Reich showing us a lush, pleasant world under the threat of war. I did enjoy the descriptions in all three stories.

I would recommend this collection to someone who hasn't tried much sci-fi and is a bit intimidated by some of the hefty tomes out there. There isn't much in the way of technical description - the stories take centre stage. It makes for a quick, enjoyable read, and a good way into the genre.

I didn't really get into this until the second story. I love this world that Reich has built and I would like to know more about it.
After reading this I decided it was less a trilogy and more a collection of short stories set in the same world. I was disappointed that the stories didnt intertwine more.
I am not really into romance, but I figured if it was set in my type of scene (sci fi) that I would enjoy it more. Everything happened so fast in all the relationships and just seemed kind of corny. I wanted to connect with the characters but I felt it was impossible because all of them instantly fell in love with their soon to be spouses and that I did not like, I know that they were all supposedly put in they horrible life changing situations that pulls them closer together, but there still wasn't enough there for me to believe it.
Also, I do not like the way she portrayed the human race, ESPECIALLY in the third story. There is a peaceful world that is willing to let our race share their planet and we still want to blow them up? We're smarter then that. I know that there are some horrible people but she portrayed us as hitler mixed with cave men and it just wasn't flattering to me or the story.

Like I said I really liked the world and the different planets and the bits of action but the romance part of it did not work for me.
