Philosophical and Ideological Voices in Education contains clearly-written analyses of the major philosophies, ideologies, and theories of education and includes a primary source selection representative of each topic treated in the book. The book is divided into three major parts: (1) philosophies of education; (2) ideologies of education: (3) theories of education. Each chapter examines the nature, principles, and applications of each philosophy, ideology and theory to education, schooling, and curriculum and instruction.
Good book, if you are interested in educational philosophies. Author provides good background material, definition, and history of each philosophy, along with a sampling of the predominate thinker in those areas.
This was basically a review of my undergraduate liberal arts degree with the added educational specialization. I would have enjoyed the reading of it more if only I hadn’t gotten overwhelmed and overbalanced by unexpectedly been required to take two on-line classes instead of one at a time as originally indicated. That and, oh yeah, full time teaching. Still the reading was interesting.
