IF THIS BOOK HAD NOT ENDED LIKE IT DID! I WOULD HAVE LOVED IT! SUCH A SHAME?
I am very disappointed 😞 in all authors that captivate you with interesting characters that introduce interesting storylines. I don't think I'm going to read any more series! I'm just so disappointed 😞!

This was a Kindle freebie. I can't remember why I picked it since I'm not a fan of zombie stories -- in fact, I'm fed up with zombie stories. I know they're popular right now but they've been done to death (pun intended).
Anyway, I didn't read past the third chapter because of the writing. I suppose it's meant to come across and tense and fast-paced; instead it seems overwrought, amateurish and breathlessly eager to continue. Even the first sentence is quite clumsy: "The bloody red light he opened his eyes to seemed to match the agonizing pain making a slow burn through his skull."
Here's another example: "Greg had the urge to check for a pulse, so he did. There wasn't one, but at least he had something to do in this crimson-lit tomb."
I found myself mentally editing and cutting the writing as I read: never a good sign.
I see Mr Lusher has written a shed-load of books including at least seven in this series. If this is a fair sampling of his style, it doesn't work for me. Seems like plenty of other people enjoy it, though.

Good book
This is not your typical zombie book. Yes, there are zombies, but this is more of a character story. I really enjoyed it, and can't wait to read the second one.

I wanted to like this book more. I enjoyed the "zombies in the future" aspects of the plot, thought the first 33-50% of the book were well paced and interesting, and found the characters to be likable if not exactly deep. I was even willing forgive the, shall we say, "tried-and-true" protagonist with amnesia plot. In my opinion, however, the book goes back to the trope well a few too many times, which pretty much meant that any genre-savvy reader knows EXACTLY how things are going to shake out. The final blow to my enjoyment of the book was an ending that was painfully rushed to a cliff hanger. Needless to say, I doubt I'm going to read the rest of the series.

Fun story. Fast paced
It a pretty cool story. Quick paced and imaginative. The only problem I a had was that it felt like I was reading a video game. That's not totally a bad thing, in fact it is part of what made it fun but it also gave it kind of a weird feel at times. the characters at one point were completing missions only to turn around and start a new one, each with a new mutated creature, with very little transition which is probably what made it feel like a video game (by the way I think it would make a bad pass game). However it kept the pace flying along and was definitely fun. I recommend reading it and I look forward to reading the sequels in the series.

This book was pretty solid. There were only a couple spelling errors, but other then that it was pretty well written. I thought the whole thing was pretty easy to follow though I do wish I could have gotten a bit more of Cage's background/story.
I think Greg is a pretty strong character. I don't know how I would have dealt with not being able to remember anything about my past.
I will admit, I am kind of looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

Although the phrases, "He popped his neck," "He popped his back," was used about a dozen times, it was a fun, futuristic zombie story. Was just creepy enough to keep you reading. I liked the characters and their development. If it were a movie, I could easily picture what they would look and sound like.

kindle freebie. Zombies from space. Fun read - plenty of action and decent characters. Since there are two other books, I'm assuming some of the character back story will flesh itself out. Fast read - keeps you interested.

Great outbreak story. Set in another planet brings a fresh environment to the zombie genre.

Tense Action
Absolutely amazing, kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The characters were well written and the zombies terrifying. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed this book, however it had it's fair share of slow dry parts.
