Swept off her feet…

History professor Letty Conroy has led a quiet, scandal-free life--until she found out that her fiance Xavier Augustine had had her investigated and deemed her perfect wife material. Then Letty sets out to prove him wrong. She has some wild and naughty plans that impudent Augustine might not approve of .. . .

Xavier's nickname might be "Saint" Augustine, but there was nothing saintly about him or his troubled past. He'd come up the hard way, and he wasn't about to let Letty ruin his reputation--or hers. He would have to rescue her from the wild celebrations of the annual university medieval gathering--like the proverbial knight in shining armor. Little did he know that Letty wasn't exactly a damsel in distress!

This had a great premise and I loved it for most parts. Our h, the correct history professor is shocked to learn that her perfect but distant fiancé had her investigated before popping the question. It’s sweet and funny picturing a woman revolting for being selected on the basis of being nice and suitable and …boring? So she sets out to prove herself unsuitable and interesting. Only her revolt is as radical as her imagination - going on a medieval revellers weekend!

The book loses some steam with the shenanigans of the om and others on that weekend even as the H follows her there and tries to woo and win her back. That was a no brainer but the H’s amused, relaxed and pig headed confidence grates. She revolts again but again it was an no brainer. She should have made him work harder and he should have worked harder - at changing his mindset and for taking her for granted.
But still a sweet story with depth in characterisation.

“Too Wild To Wed” is the story of Letty and Xavier.
Letty is a college professor, happily engaged to the millionaire Xavier and about to be married when she learns he’s had her background investigated.
Offended by the same, she decides to break the engagement and go off on a Medieval tour to explore her wild side with other professors, but Xavier has other plans..
Ridiculous plot executed with meager enthusiasm. Most of the story is the heroine being offended in one way or another, hero being secretive or insignificant details about various things. The mystery was ridic.
Got this because of the cover which I liked- average read.

When Letty finds out her fiancee had her background investigated, she is hurt and even more upset at how dull it is. She breaks off the engagement and decides to put a little more risk into her life. Xavier wants to protect her from herself and continues to claim the wedding is on.

What I enjoyed:
* I like how Letty grew a backbone, but at the same time stayed a nice person
* The interaction of Molly and Hawk
* Even though Xavier is pretty manipulative in getting Letty to do what he wants, he still has to jump through some of her hoops to prove his love
* Even Sheldon got a happy ending

The book is a bit dated and if you read too much into it, Xavier could come across as too controlling. But I just take things at face value and enjoy the ride.

I do not like to read stories about women who are really weak. Unfortunately, this was one of those books.

This was a fun easy read.

Letty Conroy had led a quiet life as an intelligent and unassuming professor of medieval history at a college in Tipton Cove when she met Xavier Augustine. He was looking for a wife and after he had Letty investigated he found she was exactly the wife he was after. She was fine with that until she found the written report on his investigation of her, then she was outraged, especially when she read the one page document of her life and realized how boring her life looked. So she broke off their engagement (at least she thought she did) and went away for a weekend with a group called The Order of the Medieval Revelers, that was okay until Xavier got himself invited to it as well.

Loved this book. I have always been sucker for decent character build up by an author. Ms. Krentz have a way of doing t that is seriously off the charts. The lady can pack a lot of story in few little pages.

Letty is one independent gal. Believe me you can describe her as naive and sweet but she is strong. Xavier, well he is a good main lead. Letty teaches him a good lesson without being overly harsh and still stay true to herself.

I mean today's books are so damn focused on explosive chemistry and what not that they end up describing a minor scene in ten pages and delegate pertinent content to just a few lines.

Jayne Ann Krentz is now my official fall back romance author. Sometimes you just a need a break from all the bad writing out there.

Letty and Xavier are weeks away from reciting their marriage vows when Letty discovers a document reporting the results of a detailed investigation on her. Suddenly, the ever-so-chaste and proper courtship makes sense. She comes to the realization that her soon-to-be-husband doesn't love her at all, only the idea of her as a perfect wife. To put the cherry on top, reading the investigative report makes her realize how boring of a person she is so she decides some radical changes are in order. The first step being, to end the engagement.

This was a solid harlequin-type romance. It was quite amusing to read Letty getting so huffed about everything and Xavier trying to smooth her ruffled feathers. Some would say, Xavier was a little manipulative but the delivery was so funny that it could be forgiven. I would have totally given this a 4-star were it not for the ending. I thought there would be a little more growth on Xavier's part but I suppose it works with the time period of male chauvinism.

Appalling is the only thing I can say about it. Disgusting is an other way to describe it. I honestly don't so much mind rape in a book, if it is talked about and not dismissed or used as a prop, but I as much as honestly detest this way of describing women. She's revolting in her stupidity and absolutely lack of anything resembling a brain and a spine.
Midway I could not stomach it anymore.

Letty Conroy is a quiet professor of medieval history and Xavier finds her attractive. But he runs a check on her by an investigator and she finds the report. She finds out how dull she is and is mad at her fiance. She breaks off the engagement and wants to be more wild!! Things do turn out okay.

Unrealistic but wildly entertaining storyline. Enjoyed the fact that the sexy times were a little spicier than some of her older work. It was still pretty tame compared to what I normally read but overall a good read! I can see this being added to the re-read pile lol.

The story is filled with humor and has enough steam to make
this a fun beach or vacation novel.

I think I say the same thing about all this authors books. They are easy to read as the writing is smooth and flows easily. I rarely have trouble getting into her books immediately and wanting to read them without stopping. They make me smile all the time, cry occasionally, laugh out loud on occasion, and there is always a little to a lot of suspense. As the years have gone by her suspense has gotten more involved. Which I like. Truly a wonderful writer.
Second read- this is a fun book, laughter, smiling, little mystery and lots of fun. Keeping and will read again in a few years.

Medieval history professor, Letty Conroy meets Xavier Augustine when he comes to guest lecture. After a 3 month courtship they are planning a wedding when Letty discovers he has had her investigated and her whole life doesn't fill a one page report. She is indignant and breaks the engagement deciding to live a more exciting and eventful life. What follows is a spritely series of adventures and miscommunications leading eventually to a happy ending. Fun read. Old category romance.
