Hunter’s Moon by Lisa Kessler
2nd book in the Moon series. Paranormal shifter romance. Best read as part of the series.
Sasha was a detective. Now because of an “evil” scientist, she is a jaguar assassin on the run. Aren knows Sasha is his mate as soon as they touch. But explaining a jaguar to a wolf shifter pack is going to be a problem.

Suspenseful. Hot.
I like the twins aspect of the world building. And it’s interesting that the twin brothers Adam (book 1) and Aren both end up with jaguar mates.
The overall series arc still has the Nero Organization as a threat to the shifters for the future books.
On to book 3.

This is the second book in Lisa Kesslers "Moon " series and is easily a standalone novel but I do feel that it would be better if readers where to read "Moonlight " first . Ms Kessler has written about a world with shifters in it and her take on werewolves and jaguar shifters is not to be missed.
The two central characters here are Aren a werewolf and Sasha a jaguar shifter. They previously met when Sasha was acting as an assassin for Nero , a secret organisation that's trying to build its own army of super soldiers. Sasha had been lied to and told she could obtain an antidote to her condition if she played along and captured Arens sister in law. Needless to say that didn't go down well and now Sasha is on the run from both Nero operatives and the Werewolves.
Unfortunately for Aren when they met he realised that fate is a twisted bitch and has made Sasha his mate and he's left tracking her down .
Sasha is on the run but Nero have sent a rogue werewolf after her and he's getting too close for comfort. Realising that her baby sister is in danger she turns to the strongest and most honourable male she knows, Aren. Sasha finds the guy insanely attractive but how can he or his pack ever forgive her for her previous actions.? Aren asks his brother to hide Nadya , Sasha's younger sister and reluctantly Adam agrees. Sasha never asked to be a shifter but her police experience makes her a sharp lady who's capable of taking care of herself but this time she knows she's out of her depth. The werewolf assassin is closing in and although the wolves are hiding Nadya they are not going to forgive Sasha. Can Aren convince his pack that he needs her? Will Sasha ever look at him and realise his feelings are true? They will have to survive in order to find out!
This was an easy and very interesting read. The old dilemma "love thy enemy" has never been more fitting and what a tangled mess these two characters find themselves in. The young couple shift into different species and there's been so much deception that at times their problems seen insurmountable but the hero Aren never has any doubts about his lady. He's hard wired to protect his Alpha and pack and Sasha is über protective of her sister. Yet they find themselves pushing against the odds as they learn to trust each other. Lots of hot loving adds to the story.
The only thing that might not sit well with some readers is the fact that we read it as first person as each chapter is told from the point of view of either Aren or Sasha but it just felt seamless to me as the writing flowed so well. The author makes you feel part of the story which only enhanced the experience. I haven't read the first book and now have to seek it out and I'm very happy to recommend this book . Also I'm so intrigued to know what happens next as there is a certain wolf that I feel will be getting his own tale next( pun intended!) .

Hunter's Moon

Meet Sasha who was bitten by a Jaguar shifter and turned against her will. She is an ex-cop and an excellent markswoman. When we last saw her she had shot Aren in the ankle, and told Nero where to find Lana and kidnap her.

Meet Aren a born werewolf shifter who after being shot by Sasha dragged her to safety during the foiled kidnap attempt of Lana. Aren has been shadowing Sasha and killing people sent by Nero to take her back. The reason? She is his mate.

For more humor, romance and mystery please read and enjoy. :)

This is the sequel to Moonlight. Lisa has again kept me riveted to the book and wanting more. Lisa Kessler

I enjoyed Hunter’s Moon quite a bit more than book 1; it helped that I already had a feel for Kessler’s wolves and the history between the main couple definitely helped make this installment’s insta-love romance more believable. The Nero plot line continues to add intrigue and an element of danger to this series’ story arc which means that there’s plenty of action on both sides of the bedroom door. All-in-all, another solid werewolf book from Lisa Kessler!

This novel picks-up not too long after Moonlight and I thought that the author did a good job of bringing readers up-to-date on the latest Sloan Pack news. Adam and Lana are now the proud parents of twins and I appreciated that there was a nice continuation to this series’ overall story arc. I liked how the Nero organization shifted its focus from one heroine to the next and was pleasantly surprised by some of the twists along the way. The kinks in the werewolf lore that bothered me in the first installment seem to have also been ironed out which was a definite bonus as well. There’s been real growth from book-to-book and I hope that this trend continues with each new addition.

Aren and Sasha drew me in faster than Kessler’s previous romantic duo; I think them having a backstory definitely helped to establish better chemistry. I’m also really enjoying the set-ups for each book. They get me psyched about reading the next installment and lo and behold, already I find myself looking forward to Gareth and Nadya’s tale! Sasha’s character is especially well-developed; not only does she kick some serious ass but she’s also an emotional wreck which makes her and Aren’s relationship interesting to say the least. I’m definitely diggin’ that the mate bond only seems to affect the males (so far) because it’s refreshing to see alpha werewolves falling all over the women for a change.

The main romance runs hot and cold but in a good way; the drama wasn’t overdone but did help to add a nice level of conflict to the relationship. This series definitely has a high steam factor and fortunately, Kessler doesn’t skimp on any of the delicious details which is always a plus in my opinion. I loved the way the author created a happily-ever-after that was right for Aren and Sasha rather than the customary white picket fence finale. The ending left me feeling satisfied and anxious for the next installment.

Hunter’s Moon is an addictive read that’s sure to get you hooked on Lisa Kessler’s werewolves.

Received the arc for a honest review. Pardon the pun on this but this was a howling excellent hot read. Howling is used because it brought to mind the call in the wild that the wolves do to communicate with each other. And no matter in a pack the Alpha knows when something isn't right and that is exactly what Adam knows with Aren. In this one of the series follow Aren and Sasha's ups and downs, out of control situations and hair raising danger they encounter. This is one hot intense wolf male that will do anything and about everything for his mate regardless what comes their way.And talk about issues she has em for sure. Just a challenge any good wolf is up for I would say. Telling you he is my kind of guy and if she is smart she will sink her jaguar claws in and not let go and hang on for life. Ha Ha funny how Adam and him-same taste in women kinda.Think you could ever love your enemy or have them be accepted by family and friends once you did? Now Aren being the exceptional man he is doesn't let that put him off. Once the enemy now realization she is his mate is one mind blower for sure but funny how love can be that way. Watching over her places her in his path and him in the line of fire and the crazy wolf and other factions after her puts her in his corner for a crazy ride. When it places her sister in jeopardy who does he call but someone who will understand in hopes of a safe place until it is finished. Fighting herself and her growing love for Aren she really needs to save it for the psycho wolf hot on their tails and the group who wants her dead for real and could possibly be after her sister too. What a adventure this certainly turns out to be nail biting times even if I did not want to keep them that is. And did I mention all the hotties in this pack-oh yeah. A unique aspect in this series in the twin thing in this pack that takes it from being ordinary to that added twist that keeps a reader involved and coming back for more. Never a nodding off moment in this one. Can she learn to trust after all? Can Aren and Sasha really come together and stay together? That would be a howling success at the end then would it not? Now why would I spoil it for you and tell you the answer guess a person would have to read it for themself to find out. Would not want to be accused of spoiling your own howling good time in the discovery to the answers.

My new favorite couple!

With the blurb doing such a great job of laying out the basics of HUNTER'S MOON let me skip resummarizing it and jump into why I loved it.

Kessler has quickly become an "auto-buy" author for me. Not only does she have an exceptional talent for taking paranormal romance staples and giving them great new elements that rock, she has an amazing gift for voice. I don't care for first-person alternating perspectives much, and especially not in romances, but she managed to really make it work. I'd dare go so far as to say that I felt much more invested in Aren and Sasha's relationship getting their story right from them. If you tend to read both Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance Kessler is an author you should be paying attention to.

Action-packed and intense, HUNTER'S MOON delivers everything I love in a good read. As a fated-mates hater I love that while the werewolves find their one mate, jaguars don't in this series. It adds an excellent drama that makes Aren and Sasha's feelings for one another so much more enjoyable. I love that they even talk about whether his feelings would be the same if he wasn't forced to love her by his animal instincts. Meanwhile, the villainous figure after Sasha and her sister keeps them from getting too comfortable.

If you enjoyed MOONLIGHT you're going to dig the new information on Nero and even some new stuff about the Sloan family. By the time the central action ends the world has opened and twisted and will leave you anxious for the next book. The romance itself ties up in a fashion I found pretty amusing (and those of you who have some knowledge of Kessler's interests will love it) and sweet in a theatrical kind of way.

Sasha and Aren are one of my favorite romance couplings to date, the only problem I found with the story was the hang up she had that prolonged the inevitable HEA. I just wanted to give Sasha a nudge in the side with my elbow and say, "come on... seriously?". Once she gets her head on straight though it makes for an excellent ending.

If you love shifter romances and heroines who don't really need rescuing, just a partner to have their back you simply must read HUNTER'S MOON.

Hunter’s Moon Review
This is the 2nd book in Lisa Kessler’s Moon series.
I received this as an ARC copy for an honest review. I am a Lisa Kessler fan. Her books grab me & keep me coming back for more. Love the Moon series. I did a happy dance when I was asked to review this book.
Sasha is a turned Jaguar who led Nero to Aren’s Sister-in-Law Lana. Aren is a Wolf. In the last book She had shot Aren in the ankle & he carried her away from the fight. In which Aren’s Alpha father was killed, and his brother Adam became the new Alpha. In this book Aren has been following Sasha & killing off Nero’s assassins that are trying to kill Sasha.
My shoulders tensed up. “Look, I will admit I was bitter when
my leg didn’t heal up the way I’d hoped it would. But I figure it
makes us even.”
“Even?”
I nodded. “When I followed Adam and Lana to San Antonio, I
went with one goal. I wanted to kill whoever made a move against
my brother. Simple. I didn’t care who you were or why you were
there, I hated you because you were a jaguar. Even though Adam
trusted her, I thought Lana was setting him up. You know why I
was so sure of that? Because she was a jaguar. I didn’t even know
her, but I thought I did just because she didn’t shift into a wolf.”
“You were protecting your family. Justified suspicions based
on past experience.”
Now who does not love a sexy wolf. Aren has realized that Sasha is his mate.
Dammit. I yanked out the sofa bed, directing my frustration
to the hotel furniture in the process. When I finally got into the
bed, the cool cotton sheets soothed my hot skin and my equally
hot temper. Fate was really fucking with me. First I find my mate
and she’s trying to kill me, now we’re on the same team, and…
And the woman drove me crazy.
They link up together to defeat the Rabid Wolf that Nero sent to eliminate Sasha. This wolf finds out about Sasha’s sister Nadya so they send her to Adam & Lana for protection. The Pack gets involved & the story heats up. There are some steamy scenes. Sasha has some trust issues that Aren has to resolve before he can claim his mate. If you like a good steamy shifter book then do not hesitate to purchase this one. You will not be disappointed. It is another great book by Lisa Kessler.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

Sasha used to be a detective until she got with the wrong guy and became a jaguar shifter. She made some bad decisions trying to become get a drug to become human again. Now she is on the run and trying to save her sister. Seems like the only guy that can help her is the one that she shot, Aren.

Aren is a wolf shifter and he is trying to protect Sasha because she is his mate. Only thing is, is she tried to get his brothers mate and she is the cause of his father dying and another pack member. Getting the pack to help her is going to be hard.

Even though I didn't get to read the first book I enjoyed this one. I didn't feel like I was missing anything and I learned some of the things that happened in the first one in this book. I really liked how Aren stood up for Sasha, against his pack and even his brother. That shows what true love is.

I enjoyed the storyline and getting to see more of the pack and I can't wait for the next book to come out. I know that it will be very intense.

LOVE!! I really don't know how else to describe how I feel about this book! I started this book knowing it was going to be amazing, and not once was I let down. I am typically a sucker for the hero from the very first book in a series, but I gotta say, I think Aren might have topped Adam with this one. Sasha and Aren are great as a team and when Sasha finally lets her guard down, they become an amazing couple. This book has action, romance, and maybe even a few explosives, so what more could one want? I HIGHLY recommend reading this, but suggest you read Moonlight first if you haven't already. While you can read this one and gather a pretty good concept of book 1, you would seriously be missing out on another amazing story. I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.

This book is better than Lisa Kessler’s the first book Moonlight. Sasha is a jaguar shifter who was bitten against her will. She is a cop on leave with trust issues that she battles with throughout the storyline. . I love strong female characters that can take care of themselves. Ms. Kessler did her research on this cop character; the only thing missing was a black sense of humour as law enforcement types always have that characteristicAren is a werewolf, who against his will battles his attraction to Sasha and finally accepts that she is his mate. Aren is a very loyal, hot werewolf who trusts his instincts to guide him with his relationship with Sasha.
Sasha and Aren’s story is hot and very sensual…… I can actually feel the characters making love and connecting emotionally. The love scenes are especially good from Aren’s point of view.
I like Sasha as she is a complex character and her motivations are always interesting and I enviably want to know more. I knew when I read Moonlight that I would be buying the follow up eBook Hunter’s Moon as I just had to know more about Sasha’s character
I also love the twists and turns with Nero as they become more depraved and scarier as the story progresses. I like the complexity of Nero. Their true goals coming to light provides their motivations, which are not obvious to the reader. Thornhill is truly a depraved character. Sebastian is the enigma of the series so far and adds another layer of twists and turns to the storyline.
Another intriguing character is Nadya. She is Sasha’s kid sister, who turns out to be secretly psychic and Nero’s actual target all along. Being a loyal reader and curious person, I will be buying book 3 Blood Moon.
If you love the paranormal genre do yourself a favour and try Lisa Kessler’s fast paced, well written hot paranormal romances with some serious ass kicking thrown in.

Hunter’s Moon is a more than worthy successor to the first book in Kessler’s Moon series, Moonlight. In fact, any author who is thinking about using the fated-mate trope should check out this series for an example of using that otherwise tired trope in a way that is definitely NOT a short cut to romance and is still filled with both loads of romantic and suspenseful tension.

The story of Hunter’s Moon picks up a few months after Moonlight, and is a bit dependent on some knowledge of the previous story. It took me a bit to remember “where we left our heroes” but I think there was more depth to the family relationships in the story because I did remember. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

In Moonlight, Sasha tried to kill Adam and Aren and capture Lana in order to get the mysterious Nero Organization to give her a cure for the unfortunate case of jaguar shifter that she had been infected with.

Several problems in that scenario. First, there ain’t no cure. Second, Nero is so damn evil, they wouldn’t give it to her if there was. And third and fourth, well, third and fourth turn out to be the point of the story in Hunter’s Moon.

In the big brawl that ended Moonlight, Sasha head-butted Aren. While this does not sound like the beginnings of even a beautiful friendship, it was skin-on-skin contact, even if it did make Aren see stars. It was enough for wolf-shifter Aren to recognize Sasha as his mate.

Yes, we have fated mate trope again. Aren-the-person doesn’t even have to start out liking the person his wolf wants. He’s still stuck. And for life, at that.

But Sasha doesn’t know, doesn’t care, and even when informed (much, much later), doesn’t have to acknowledge that such a thing exists. She’s a jaguar shifter, and jaguars do NOT mate for life. This is his problem, not her problem.

Aren not only has to win her over in some version of the old-fashioned way, he has to do it in spite of the fact that they have really bad history together, and that his entire Pack has really bad history with her.

In Moonlight, this problem existed but it was impersonal. Wolves didn’t like jaguars in general, not necessarily Lana in particular. With Sasha, it’s very personal. She really did bad acts against the Pack.

Sasha can’t figure out how or why Aren is able to put it behind him. She’s certain that the rest of the Pack never will. But she needs their help, because the Nero Organization has sent a rogue werewolf to hunt her down and kill her.

And he’s planning to use her little sister as bait. Or a snack.

Escape Rating B+: The story in Hunter’s Moon is a bit darker than the one in Moonlight. The stakes seem higher and the dastardly plots seem that much more nefarious, even though the Nero Organization is less obvious in this story than they were in the first book.

There’s an awful lot of sub-plot in this one about family, and family has a way of twisting people up more than almost anything else. The pack is “family you make” and they are a tight knit bunch. Adding Lana and Sasha into the mix, along with the strain of the constant attacks because of them, creates a lot of stress that some members are handling less well than others. There are lots of explosions waiting to happen.

Adam and Aren’s long-lost uncle shows up, and turns out to be working for the other side. Well, one of the other sides. Maybe.

But the whole thing hinges on Adam’s need to protect his wife and children, set against Aren’s desire to protect the woman who is the only chance he’ll ever have at a wife. While Sasha believes that the only way that she can protect herself and her sister is to never depend on anyone but herself.

There’s even more major tension in this story related to family, including revelations about the Nero Organization.

One of the things about evil organizations that never ceases to amaze me, they always go the supersoldier route, and it never ends well. Not for the soldiers and not for the organization, but they keep making the same mistake.

But the different ways they screw it up are what make books about them so compelling.

Ready for a romp on the wild side? Then you just need to explore Lisa Kesslers Moon Series.. When one wolf shifter discovers his mate is a Jaguar it's rather unique, when his twin discovers the same thing it's getting a bit weird here. I mean cats and dogs?? But seriously, it's not bad enough that their mates are cats but Aren's mate, Sasha, is the assassin who was sent to capture Adam's mate. Leading to a domino effect.. the death of their Alpha (and father) as well as another pack mate. if it's one thing the pack knows, Sasha is the enemy. So how can this match ever work??

Sasha was a good cop, an exceptional cop until she fell for the wrong guy. First he kills the witness she is supposed to be protecting then he bites her.. changing her from a regular human to a shifting Jaguar. And as if that's not enough, now that he's turned her into a monster he has dangled the chance for an antidote in front of her. All she has to do is become an assassin for their rather shady organization. An organization that has ties to both big money and the government. Of course corruption is running rampant. Once Sasha wiggles her way in she discovers that there is so much more to the organization than meets the eye. Secret breeding programs, altering DNA on perfectly respectable shifters so they might become a "super team". And what's worse is Sasha just knows that if they ever discover she has a sister.. her sister's life is going to be ruined as well. So Sasha is on the run with only the cat who shifted her to help (which is just wrong on all sorts of levels). You'd think surviving a firefight that should have killed her would be enough.. but now she has one of the wolves on her trail and there is no escape. Except when she discovers another assassin has been sent after her, she knows the one person she can rely on is the one person she should never trust, Aren.

Aren is a werewolf with a mission and a secret. Ever since that crazy jaguar shifter tased him then shattered his ankle, Aren has known she was his mate. How does one accept that? His mate is the one female who he should never be around and certainly can't trust. And yet he is constantly drawn to her. And in need of protecting her from the crazed maniacs who claim to be her bosses. She has no one now and Aren knows she needs him. When out of the blue she calls him and asks him to help protect her sister, Aren knows now is the time. If they can not connect now they just might never do so.

An interesting dilemma.. Love your enemy.. Poor Sasha had no clue, she wasn't raised in this world she was forced into it. She only had her sister left. Only the deeper she looks into this mysterious world the more she finds out. They conspiracies have conspiracies.. no one is trustworthy so how can she believe that the man whose father's death she was responsible for would even want her for a mate? Aren and Sasha are an interesting couple. While they have shifted into different species their general make up is the same. Family first. Then serve and protect.. yeah not so far apart. They just have to figure out how they can ever make this work.

This book was written in the first person format, switching from Aren's PoV to Sasha's you would think this would be distracting but it rather enhances the story. Makes it more intimate and still allows you to be an observer. I am not usually a fan of first person but the way Ms Kessler chooses to switch back and forth really adds a certain dynamic to this particular story. I don't think I would like it on a regular basis but I did enjoy it with this book and most likely with this series.

And yes my friends, as I write this review I see similarities to a certain Ghostwalker series.. but honestly, I didn't catch that until I started writing the review. The story itself captured my attention, the characters were dynamic without being overwhelming and the connection worked. Don't worry about getting lost in a jungle of stories.. this series is all about these characters. A rather good book and I am certainly looking forward to more.

This follow-up in the Moon series was just as addicting and sexy as the first! I was so happy to see these incredible characters back for more, and Sasha and Aren’s story was full of the dangerous thrills, steamy tension, and painful heartache that we all love!

Sasha knew she was in a bad way; the Nero Organization was hell-bent on ending her life, but she was doing everything in her power to keep herself and her little sister safe. She had her work cut out for her, because after the hell she put Aren and the pack through, her enemies far outnumbered her allies. She’d kidnapped Adam’s mate, shot Aren and left his ankle permanently mangled, and had a hand in the death of the pack alpha (also Aren and Adam’s father). Unforgivable by any standards, but, inexplicably, that didn’t stop Aren from feeling drawn to her and feeling as if he HAD to have her in his life. Shadowing her to keep her safe, Aren was ready and willing to swoop in when she finally conceded to needing his help. But just because Aren’s wolf was calling to her didn’t mean the rest of the pack would ever understand, and when Sasha and her sister needed them to have their backs…well, let’s just say there were a LOT of tense moments that followed!

I was worried I just wouldn’t be able to make myself like Sasha for this story, but I was surprised to find myself sympathizing with her even after everything she put the pack through. There were times when I felt like she was being selfish, I mean she was literally risking the safety of the entire pack in order to keep Nero away and she didn’t show a lot of remorse for what her requests were doing to their lives. But her love for her sister was what drove her, she cared deeply for her and wasn’t going to let her become an experiment for the despicable Nero employees like she had. I loved her determination and her newfound loyalty to these wolves who were gradually letting her in, and it made for a lot of heart-racing thrills and drama that kept me hooked!

With a captivating storyline, exciting twists and action, and some crazy-hot sex to boot, Hunter’s Moon was a wonderful second installment for the series. For those who haven’t had the pleasure of reading Lisa Kessler’s work yet, definitely check out the Moon series and see her talent firsthand!

WOW just when you think Lisa Kessler can't pull off the impossible, she sneaks in, sends you through a whirlwind of emotions, and makes you fall in love with an irredeemable character! We last saw Sasha at the end of Moonlight right after she reeked havoc, by attempting to turn Lana over to Nero, resulting in Malcolm's death. Malcolm was the pack alpha, as well as Adam and Aren's dad,and he died taking a bullet meant for Lana. During the final battle, a wolf is seen dragging Sasha's limp body off into the woods leaving readers wondering whether she was left dead or alive.

Hunter's Moon picks up a few months after Moonlight and it is evident that things have not gone back to normal for Aren. Aren has been going off on mysterious trips and making excuses about his whereabouts leaving Adam worried and other pack members wondering what's really going on. Well it seems during one of the many times Sasha subdued Aren, she head butted him causing skin-to-skin contact that awakened Aren's wolf to instantly recognize his mate......Sasha. Cue my emotional angst because how can Aren forgive Sasha's actions when they led to his father's death, hurt his brother's mate, and shattered his ankle!

Sasha learned the hard way that others can't be trusted. I mean the last man she trusted bit her, turned her into a jaguar shifter, and then killed her witness. Now the same organization that made promises to her has sent an assassin who is threatening her innocent sister, and she has no choice but to turn to the one man that has no reason to help her. I refuse to go into specifics from the book because I don't wish to taint the experience for others, but I will say that I found myself really loving Aren's character and respecting his incredible ability to forgive.

Hunter's Moon is a true testament of the phrase love heals all wounds and gives us the power to forgive. Sasha and Aren lite up the pages, and even though their relationship was rocky, they found a way to move past their individual faults and learn to trust one another. I really loved the ending of the book and Kessler does such a great job of putting Sasha in the spotlight (literally) and allowing her to shine. I am also quite intrigued to see what's going to happen next because events at the end of this book leaves many unanswered questions....including what will happen to Sasha's younger sister Nadya. I think I know but.......

If you loved Moonlight then you will be over the moon about Hunter's Moon! I'm giving this one 5 full freaking notes and 3 flames! Lisa has fast become one of my favorite authors...and to think I had her on the "to read" list forever! Now I must read her vampire series.

[I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.] An Alpha werewolf hero and kick-ass jaguar heroine burn up the pages in Lisa Kessler's Hunter's Moon. I have to admit to have been jonesing for the next installment of Lisa Kessler's Moon series, ever since i finished Moonlight (The Moon Series) (Entangled Edge), the first book in the series that introduced us to a wolf pack in Reno whose natural enemies were jaguar shifters, many from the big bad Nero Organization. I won't go into too many details, as you should definitely read this one yourself (and you REALLY do want to), but this is a review of book two, Hunter's Moon (The Moon Series, Entangled Edge, to be released 21 Oct 2013) that picks up the story where Moonlight left off.

Aren, the protagonist in Hunter's Moon, is the twin brother of Adam, the now-Alpha of the Reno wolf pack who is mated to a natural born jaguar shifter, Lana. (If I just confused you, their story is told in Moonlight.) Sasha, whom we see Aren protecting, was a cop, but had to leave the force after being bitten by her then lover, a jaguar with complicated ties to Reno. In her quest for a promised cure, she did some bad things, really bad things in Moonlight, but by the time we start Hunter's Moon, her reality has shifted and so has ours. She's no longer the one we're hissing at. (Well we're all cats aren't we?)

Aren and Sasha have a lot to overcome in Hunter's Moon, believe me when I say she wasn't a sweetheart in Moonlight and has a lot of making up to do. But there are always reasons aren't there? As I discovered more about Sasha (and each chapter is headed, in this Advance Reader Copy by "Sasha" or "Aren" so we know whose point of view we're hearing), she became a favorite of mine: gritty, a survivor, someone who trusted once, but perhaps not again, all qualities that we can identify with. And Aren? Well if you liked him in Moonlight you'll love him in Hunter's Moon. His stoicism in light of his injuries is remarkable, but so is his recognition and action upon his feelings.

The story is fast-paced and engrossing, a hallmark of Kessler's writing style. She weaves in government conspirators, long-lost twins, another big bad villain, and more. This book was one I couldn't put down till the last page was turned...and then I was calculating when the next book in her series would be released (Blood Moon, July 2014).

So, to sum it up, I'd rate this book at five howls or very large catnip leaves. It is a winner and if you're fan of urban fantasy and paranormal romance - you'll want to include this series in your must-reads list too. I'd never read any of Lisa Kessler's books before Moonlight, but have now added all of her to my TBR shelf on my Kindle. Enjoy!

I love shifter books. Werewolves, dragons, jaguars, bears – if there is a bit of animal in that human, I want to read about it. It’s a sickness…my friends make fun of me…but when there are books out there like Hunter’s Moon, it’s easy to explain why this sub-genre pulls me in.

This book centers around the lives and romance of Aren and Sasha. He’s a werewolf but his pack doesn’t hide out in the woods and kill innocents. They’re businessmen, doctors, musicians – upstanding members of their community and deeply ingrained in the city of Reno. Aren runs a consulting business and sounds like quite the deal closer, though most of his time is spent chasing his mate through this story. He’s charming, mature, and protective without being all “you’re a helpless female, I must rescue you.” Seriously, how many romances do you read where part of an intimacy scene has to do with the man disarming the woman?

“I want you, Sasha. Scars and all.”

That’s so hot…pretty sure I died a little bit right there.

Sasha is kind of a badass. Tough, ex-cop, jaguar shifter – protective and caring but riddled with anger and guilt. She was changed into a shifter against her will and made a lot of bad choices trying to right that wrong. Choices that included waging a battle against a werewolf pack and almost killing her mate. I really enjoyed watching her grow through the pages and learn to trust others while figuring out her own drama. The slow build up of her relationship with Aren was well-written and realistic with all the starts and stops one would expect when someone can’t trust themselves enough to just let go and fall.

I rolled my eyes and went to the closet for my yoga mat. The forget-about-the-man-you-love pose still eluded me, but that didn’t mean I wouldn’t keep trying.

Suspenseful and plot-driven, Hunter’s Moon kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page. Drama and mystery is interwoven with the paranormal elements and the romance, making this a well-balanced read even for non-shifter lovers. Being a bit of a gear-head, I loved all the car talk in the book, and the Elvis references gave the story moments of levity without falling too far into the cheesy arena.

I give this book 4.5 stars. Hunter’s Moon is the second book in the Moon series, but I read it without having read the first. It stands alone with bits and pieces of the previous installment creeping into the current story seamlessly. I will be back-tracking to read Moonlight, the first book in the series, as I have fallen in love with the pretty words Lisa writes.

Fair warning – chapter 57 made me want to drink whiskey. Lots of it. Gird you loins!

4 Stars!

Hunter’s Moon is a very good shifter story. I love how the wolf pack works and there are some very unique twists to the shifters. Like wolfs always come in twins and only the male ones have the shifter gene so women have to be bitten in order to become a wolf shifter and belong to the pack. I liked that it is somehow different from the other paranormal worlds out there. But if you read the first book (Moonlight) you know that this is not so true for the jaguar-wolf couple ;)

Actually I didn’t read the first book. I kind of regret it. Not because I don’t get all the details in the second book. You get into the world pretty quickly and everything is explained for those who jump right into this series with the second book. You don’t necessarily have to read Moonlight to get what’s going on. But I regret not reading it first because the story and the whole world setting are great! I really like the book. But I’m someone who normally doesn’t go back to read the first book when I already started with the second. Because now I already know what happened and most importantly the outcome… it ruins the excitement of reading a book for me. But I am so looking forward to the third book!! OMG I can’t wait. I instantly fell in love with Nadya and Gareth. Their book is going to rock! I have to admit I liked them even more than Sasha and Aren….

This brings me to the main characters, Sasha and Aren. They were great as well. Aren had instant chemistry with Sasha because she is his mate. Well… Sasha not so much. And I loved that.
What I liked most was the trust Aren had in Sasha. He was protective of her but not over protective. He let her do her thing. Sasha is a cop (or ex-cop) and knows how to handle shit. Aren acknowledges that and leaves here alone sometimes to do her thing because he knows she can defend herself and is not a damsel in distress. I think it’s kind of unrealistic if the male main character never allows his women out of his sight and thinks he has to protect her 24/7. So Aren was my hero because he gave Sasha space and at the same time was always there for her.
Sasha is a kick-ass female. Enough said. I like her because of that :)

Lisa Kessler is a very talented author and I enjoyed reading the book from beginning to end. She always kept the story going and added some new interesting twists. I always wanted to keep reading. I will not tell you too much here. You have to read it for yourself ;)

And now I hope that I don’t have to wait for Nadya’s and Gareth’s story too long. Gareth is dark, silent, serious and brooding - just my kind of main character. Nadya might look sweet and innocent but I guess that there is a lot beneath the surface. Can’t wait to read about the two!

In Hunter's Moon (Moon #2) by Lisa Kessler, Wolf Aren has every reason to hate Sasha. The jaguar shifter tried to kill both him and his twin brother, Adam, to get to Adam's mate, Lana. The problem is that Sasha is Aren's one and only mate. He curses fate for bringing him someone he can't trust and wonders if he's doomed to live alone craving a woman who doesn't want him.

'Without a drop of make-up on, weapons at the ready at all times, she was hands down the sexiest woman I'd ever known.'

Aren and Sasha find themselves on the same side of the fight for a change when Nero becomes a bigger threat to them both. Aren takes the opportunity to learn more about his mate and to try to convince her that they could work through their issues and form a relationship. But will the sassy former detective listen to a word he says?

"I'm damaged goods," she whispered against my chest. "I can't be what you need. I'm terrified of making another mistake. The last time I thought someone cared, he stole my life from me."

Sasha has no idea why she is drawn to green-eyed wolf Aren, but she can't bring herself to harm him anymore. That is, until he starts his delusional talk of 'mates' and 'forever'. She's tried love before and it ruined her life and came back to bite her. Literally. But Sasha can't seem to get away from Aren, especially when he can help her get back at Nero and what they have done to her life and career.

"I love this car."
Aren turned my way, and the smile on his face reached all the way inside of me to touch places I thought had died years ago.
A dash of fear mingled with the adrenaline.
I could love a lot more than his car.'

Hunter's Moon is an intense and passionate new paranormal by Lisa Kessler. Book two in the Moon series picks up where Moonlight (book one) left off but includes a lot of the backstory, so it can definitely be read as a standalone.

I thought the pacing of the plot was perfect, with just enough romance and action/fight scenes to keep the reader interested. And the characters. Wow! I fell in love with both Aren and Sasha. They both had personal struggles that made it difficult for them to trust others, but I could feel their longing to be together even in the face of their situation. Aren and Sasha were also both very easy to relate to. They love their family and will protect them at all costs and they are both good people underneath all the choices they must make.

I hope you get a chance to read Hunter's Moon. Especially if you are a fan of an action-packed, sexy Paranormal story...it's highly recommended.

WOW just WOW!!!

I loved, loved this book so much, Sasha and Aren are a match made in heaven... well not exactly n heaven but dayum they are perfect for each other.

Sasha is a former cop that suffered from a series case of "My boyfriend screw me over" and now she is on the run trying to keep herself alive, her sister safe and her hormones controlled. not an easy thing to do when candy man wolf shifter Aren is after her and not precisely for battle; let's go to the mattresses has a new meaning and oh boy, WHAT a meaning!!!!!

Aren is a very sensible and loyal and he finds himself trapped between his loyalty to his family and his desire to have some one on one with a deadly jaguar assassin with a killer shot and when that woman is also his mate shit is going to fly and make a mess.

This book is amazing, sexy as hell and holly tamale perfect, I loved every second. it took me one day to fly through it and afterwards I was still awestruck. It´s so good that left me wishing for the next book ASAP.

The plot is very well planned and has more twists and turns than a corkscrew, I was at the edge of my sit every second of it. Sasha and Aren are a power couple, they both have some screws loose and a temper but somehow they manage to even each other.

I wasn´t sure at first if I was going to like Sasha after everything she did and all the damage she caused to the pack but between her yoga lessons, her Lara Croft attitude and her love for her sister she managed to win me over. She really is an amazing female lead, a really tough chick, quick of mind and sure of herself and at the same time fragile and feminine when Aren is around.

There are no words to describe are other than... Please Lisa can I have him??? pretty please!!!! never thought that possessive, arrogant and overbearing could be qualities but dayum he makes it work.

This is one helluva book that is going to keep me (and my hub) awake for night to come (no pun intended); It´s action packed, sexy and perfectly weaved creating an emotional roller coaster that is sure to make your palms sweat.

Ohh and let me tell you I´m drooling over Gareth I can´t wait to see what happens to him. He is a lost soul but somehow someway he managed to catch my attention. I know there´s something very fierce and sexy underneath all that loner macho bravado.

I can´t wait to have the next book in my hands!!!!

On the run from the Nero Organization, Sasha isn't sure as to where she'll go. Nor does she know as to how she'll live her life now. There was a time when she believed she had a purpose, that she was doing some good her life. That all changed from the moment she was bitten, and transformed into a jaguar assassin. In a sense, she should count her lucky stars that she's still alive, and able to try to make something of herself. Yet she can't quite come to terms with the fact that her life has truly changed in more ways than one.

Forced to confront the circumstances that have landed her in the tight spot she now finds herself in, Sasha soon realizes that there's no way she can outrun her past. The Nero Organization is determined in bringing her in, something she cannot allow. She knows too much, and must be silenced by any means necessary.

Things soon take a different turn when Sasha meets Aren, the sexy werewolf shifter, who'd saved her life not too long ago. Deep inside, she wants nothing more than to forget about him, and what he's done for her. Yet she knows that's not likely. He's done more for her than anyone else ever has, a fact she can no longer deny.

Everything about him draws her to him. Sasha knows she should stay away from him. He's gorgeous, deadly, and far out of her league. Common sense tells her that she should walk away from him. To forget about the way he makes her feel. Yet when her life and that of her sister are threatened, she knows that staying away from Aren isn't something she can actually do. He's her only link to doing away with the Nero Organization, once and for all. If they're to succeed in bringing them down, she'll need let go of her insecurities, and put her trust in his hands.

Hunter's Moon is one of those story's that draws you in, and makes you want to keep reading by the time you get to the very end. I absolutely enjoy shape-shifter stories, and I think Lisa has penned a series that certainly captures the reader's interest. Granted, I started the Moon series with this second book, but you can bet that I'll be catching up with book one soon enough. There are twists and turns galore in this book that will leave you wanting to know more. The heat ratio doesn't disappoint either. I enjoyed the story very much, and can't wait to see what Lisa has planned next for the series itself.

Hunter's Moon is the second book in author Lisa Kessler's Moon Series, about a Pack of werewolves living in Reno, trying to avoid an organization called Nero, who want to experinent on them and other shifters, jaguars.

In Moonlight, we learned about Adam Sloan and his finding his mate, Lana, a jaguar. In Hunter's Moon, we read from his twin brother, Aren's, point of view, and his mate: Sasha, a jaguar assassin who had tried to kill him and capture Lana so Nero could experiment on her.

Now Sasha is on the run from Nero, after she realized that there was no cure to make her human again. Nero tries to find her, but their hunters all wind up dead, thanks to Aren's desire to protect his mate. But, as be gets closer to Sasha, what will happen? His twin might've been mated to a kind jaguar, but his was a deadly killer!

And, since a werewolf novel is nothing without a little (actually, make that a lot) of danger, Sasha's human sister is now the target of a crazed bounty hunter sent by Nero, and the only place she'll be safe is with the Pack, none of whom are too fond of Sasha.

In this novel we learn more about the Pack, more about Nero and a lot more about human nature and the meaning of live. As the reader learns about Sasha's past and self-hate, they will feel for her as a friend, and many will swoon over Aren even more than Adam (I can honestly say that I did!).

It is refershing to read a story with frequent plot twists, revelations and romance that doesn't take away from the real story. Mrs. Kessler's novels keep getting better and gripping the reader into their velvet chains.

If you haven't read Moonlight, do that before you pick up Hunter's Moon! There are a lot of spoilers from the first book, as it, obviously, is the continuation! And be on the lookout for the next installment, focusing on Nadya, Sasha's young sister.

Overall, this is a book that will keep the reader enchanted, make them laugh, cry and cringe. Amazing read for fans of romance, the paranormal and adventure stories!

5 out of 5--epic!

She tried to kill him twice. Yet, "[i]nstead of protecting [his] Pack...[Aren Sloan] found [him]self sneaking around, unable to stop tracking her, protecting [their] enemy. Sasha [Kincade]." She was a shape-shifting jaguar and was part of the Neo Organization. The Neo Organization "bred jaguar shape-shifters and trained them as silent assassins for the highest bidder." Sasha left the organization whey they failed to give her a promised antidote, to her shape-shifting, that never existed. Now there is a bounty on her head and people are trying to kill her. The Neo Organization cannot afford Sasha spilling their secrets, that "[t]hey kidnapped and imprisoned human women within the compound to be part of [their] jaguar-shifter breeding program and DNA testing." The government thought "they were just financing enhanced soldiers."

Now, a shape-shifting werewolf with Green Beret training has threatened Sasha using the only leverage he had over her - Sasha's sister. Sasha knew that she needed help and she knew that, for some reason, Aren was following her. She knew Aren was a werewolf and asked him and his Pack to protect her sister until she could figure out who is trying to kill her and get to him first.

I GIVE THIS BOOK: 5 Stars

One thing I believe is important in a book series is to catch the reader up on previous books so they do not get confused with the story. This author achieved that. The back-story from book one was written out as a matter of factly, yet stayed true to the story of this book. Throughout the book, when references to the first book surfaced, this author gave a point-blank explanation that never veered away from the story at hand.

The book was a little long, but it needs to be that way. Being able to feel and root on the characters in this book came from reading their interactions and learning their history. As the two main characters get to know each other, so does the reader. A lot of books make you want to scream, "You are so stupid, just tell each other!" Yet this book left you conflicted between love and understanding. This is what draws a reader in and had this reader in tears.

Until next time, live life one page at a time!

Sasha is on the run and wants to make sure her sister stays safe. She was bitten and turned into a Jaguar by the Nero Organization against her will. She wanted out and now has to turn to the ones she has done bad things to. With a bounty hunter after her sister and her she ask for help from Aren member of a werewolf pack. Aren will do almost anything to help Sasha as he knows she is his mate. Knowing his pack would never approve he hides the fact. He works to help Sasha from the danger after her growing closer all the time. Will secrets between them and the dislike from his pack keep them apart or will they work it out?

Sasha is a smart tough woman who was turned against her will into a killing machine. She has a good heart and just wanted a normal life. She is willing to give up her pride to help her sister. She fights every breathe against falling for Aren. Trust is something that comes hard to her. Aren is a sexy werewolf that is walking a thin line between his heart and his pack. He is holding back secrets and doing all he can to help the woman of his heart while protecting his pack as well. I really like him as he has a protective streak but doesn't push Sasha into corners. He is a very forgiving guy to Sasha.

I always enjoy books by the author and this is no exception. I love getting to know these characters and how they change as the book progresses. Sasha has to work to trust Aren and she really has a hard time doing so. The tracker after her is unlike anything anyone has saw before. You learn much more about the Nero Organization and how far their reach is. Even the secondary characters make you want more of their story. This is a fascinating world of shifters and more. There is tons of action as they are hiding and hunting this tracker down at different times. This guy will stop at nothing to get what he thinks is his mission. The heat between Aren and Sasha is thrilling to read about. It's obvious they belong together even if they don't both want to see it. If you love shifters, action, love and more be sure to grab this book and really the whole series.

I was given this book to read for my honest review and i loved it.. I hadn't read the first book yet, i know i'm sorry, don't hate me, but i was able to catch right up to everything that was going on.. Reading the first would of totally helped me understand the characters more but it didn't hinder my understanding of this book at all.

What i know for sure is WooWee, is Aren one hot Wolf.. Not only is he Loving but he's loyal also.. Aren is the twin that was more into structure. He took on His fathers company when his brother went into farming instead and he was completely comfortable in the world of mergers and acquisitions. He had everything planned out and that was fine by him, until he ran into Sasha that was.

Sasha was everything he never expected. She was beautiful, strong, unreasonable and pigheaded, but for some reason she was the one his Wolf Chose. His Mate..

Oh, did i forget to mention she also changed his life in way more ways than one. Aren never believed that finding your one true mate was real. He always thought it was just a bedtime story that was handed down from generation to generation. Boy was he wrong and why did it choose the one person he hated the most, or did he..

Sasha is one tough cookie. She's an ex homicide detecticve who fell for the wrong bad boy and boy was this one bad. Sebastian was the suave playboy who swept her off her feet but when she figured out everything he ever told her was a lie well Sasha wasn't to keen on that. She had always been around men so she was pretty strong and letting Sebastian get through her walls was just something she couldn't forgiver herself for.

Sasha and Aren have a tough road ahead of them but what a fun and steamy rollercoaster ride this was... Aren will always be loyal to his Mate but will Sasha ever forgive herself for her past so that she can have a life with him? They are the perfect complement to each other.. Both Stubborn but you can tell that they love each other to their core and would die to keep the other safe..

This paranormal romance involving werewolf and jaguar shifters is fantastic! Hunter’s Moon is the second book in the Moon series that is fast paced and full of action. I did not read the first book and was able to read this without feeling lost because enough details from previous events are mentioned, but I will be reading the first story to get the details of how Adam and Lana got together. I cannot wait for book three. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves stories about shifters.

Sasha was a police detective who was purposely bitten so that she would become a shape shifting jaguar, which forced her to work for the Nero Organization, a company that employs hired assassins, because they promised her an antidote that will reverse the effects of the bite. Now that she knows the antidote does not even exist, she is determined to bring the organization to their knees. When Nero is out of business she and her younger sister can move on with their lives. Sasha is the one being hunted now, and the hunter is a shifter that has gone rogue. He has found her one weakness and will stop at nothing to get it in his grasps and kill Sasha. She has raised Nadya since their parents were murdered, and she’s done everything she could think of to protect her. She may have to depend on the one person who should want nothing more than to kill her.

Aren is a werewolf who is determined to search for the woman who tried to kill him and his twin brother Adam, who is also the new Pack Alpha. He wanted to kill her himself not too long ago, and the members of his Pack still want her dead. When he realized she is also his one true mate he battles within himself between the loyalty to his brother and their Pack, and the wolf’s determination to love her and keep her safe. He wants to help her take down the rogue. Sasha knows he has every reason to want her dead. Can he give her the proof she needs to trust him enough to help protect her and keep her sister safe?

I received a copy of this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
