Coco Simon always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery, but she’s afraid she would eat all the profits. When she’s not daydreaming about cupcakes, Coco edits children’s books and has written close to 100 books for children, tweens, and young adults, which is a lot less than the number of cupcakes she’s eaten. Cupcake Diaries is the first time Coco has mixed her love of cupcakes with writing.

I really enjoyed this book! Alexis is insecure because she grew so tall so now none of her clothes fit. Meanwhile Matt has been looking at her and acting weird around her. Does he like her? Alexis is also know getting bad grades in school and just can't focus. Luckily her parents and teachers understand and Alexis really blocks out stresses and focuses on her work. I recommend this book for ages 7+. I may reread this book.

As the series progresses, I am beginning to develop a fondness for Alexis. There is just something about her personality that I click with. I like the other girls; it's just she stands out a little more than the rest of the cupcakers. In this installation of the Cupcake Diaries we literally read that she is "growing up". She is having trouble fitting into her clothes, she feels awkward, slightly argumentative and self-conscious.
I really enjoyed this one a lot!

Alexis has gotten a growth spurt nothing in her closet fits her so her mom lends her some clothes. Matt her crush was studying her legs and it's because he likes her and she is tall. She goes to the mall but, nothing fits her. She is worried she is much bigger than that Matt and tells her friends she doesn't want to be called Lexi. Lexi is babyish for her.....

This book is really sweet, and probably something a lot of people can relate to, growing pains and teen angst and realizing that boys might actually possibly be people too. Matt and Alexis are so cute together, and I'm so happy for her with Puff and the clothes she got, especially because I really want a cat too.

“‘Oh, please. I’m not going to have teen angst.’”

Alexis is having a growth spurt. She also doesn’t want to be called “Lexi” any more, but that kinda changes when Matt calls her by that name. I know that Alexis having a crush puts a softer side to her being kinda uptight, but it’s too cringy and the difference is a bit too stark for my liking. Anyways, her sister Dylan is uncharacteristically nice because she remembers the struggles. Alexis can’t focus in school and needs clothes that fit her growing body. She is also becoming angsty. But this would all make more sense if she were getting her period and not just becoming a teenager/getting taller.

What can I say? I love this series. I am especially fond of the Alexis-focused books. This was a nice addition to an addictive series.

Alexis: The Icing on the Cupcake
By: Alina R.

The characters in Alexis: The Icing on the Cupcake are Alexis, Emma, Katie, Mia, Dylan, Mom, and Matt. Once my Dad got me the first book in the Cupcake Diaries. After that, I couldn’t stop choosing them each time I visit the library. But this one is my favorite!

Alexis Becker is VERY organized. Alexis is almost a teenager, so she is having teen angst. She has a crush on Matt, who is Emma’s brother. Isn’t that weird? Alexis has also grown! She’s much taller.

Alexis feels like she is SUPER disorganized! She has clothes all over her room, her legs itch like crazy, and she forgot her vocabulary book at school right before a test! So she got an F on her test.

After I read this book, I felt like people who are always organized can reorganize themselves after there is a problem. It made me realize how important it is to stay organized. I also liked how friendly Emma, Mia, Katie, Mom, Dylan, and Matt were to Alexis.
