The Agent is book 6 of the Intelligence Unit series by Kimberly Kincaid. It is a standalone, romantic suspense romance told from several POV with a happy ending

Tropes:
✔️ forced proximity
✔️ Hero in law enforcement
✔️ grumpy-sunshine

"The Agent" by Kimberly Kincaid is a heart-pounding romantic suspense novel that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story follows FBI Agent Kai Roman and Camila Garza as they find themselves unexpectedly entangled in a bank robbery. Kincaid's skilled storytelling weaves a tale of passion and suspense, offering readers a thrilling and satisfying experience.

One of the notable aspects of "The Agent" is the narrative structure, which utilizes several omniscient third-person perspectives. The world building is also commendable, focusing on the Intelligence Unit of the Remington PD and showcasing a large ensemble cast.

Camila and Roman are compelling and likable main characters. Their chemistry is palpable, drawing readers into their blossoming romance. However, there were some minor inconsistencies in Camila’s characterization that for some reason irked me. Mainly, the portrayal of Camila's career choices that lacked authenticity, as certain professional requirements were overlooked.

FBI Agent Kai Roman, aptly nicknamed "The Iceman" due to his ability to remain emotionally detached, adds an extra layer of intrigue to the story. As the romance unfolds, readers are treated to the gradual thawing of Kai's icy exterior, revealing his deep dedication to protecting those he cares about. Kincaid's skillful portrayal of his character's transformation adds depth and complexity to the narrative, making it all the more captivating.

Overall, "The Agent" is a captivating romantic suspense novel that offers a blend of thrilling action and passionate romance. Kincaid's storytelling prowess shines through, delivering a gripping tale that kept me turning the pages.

Danger, swoons, and healing

This book. The danger. The romance. The feels. The edge of your seat adrenaline from the roller coaster pacing. I loved it. It was unputdownable. Kai Roman is an FBI agent known as the Iceman. He keeps all his feelings locked down and holds everyone at arms length. Camilla Garza is the baby of a large family. She is currently a middle school guidance counselor and is the opposite of icy controlled Roman. A year ago Roman and Camilla connected at a trivia night in a bar but the feelings it evoked were too much for Roman and he ran. Their next interaction a year later is at a bank right before the bank is robbed. Their “solidarity” over their traumatic experience during the bank robbery restarts the journey to their HEA but to get there they’ll have to unpack a lot of personal baggage all the while trying to stay safe from the criminals who are trying to kill Camilla. The story was well written, with witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, steamy scenes, exciting action, danger, strong friendships, painful pasts, evil actors, plot twists, imperfect characters, and even a few chuckles. The balance between the romance and the danger was romantic suspense perfection. I am sorry this is the last book in this series but excited for the new Remington Rescue Squad series.

And That’s a Wrap!! This story is sooo good and very much worth the wait! Kia Roman is brooding, sexy and cautious with his heart. Camila Garza is strong, independent and very brave with her heart. These two opposites make for a beautiful romance with a little hiccup on their way to their HEA! Diabolical bank robbers can do that to a romance. LOL!! And the twist at the end was awesome and totally unexpected. LOVED IT!! Definitely a great ending to the Remington Intelligence Unit series!

The book started a little awkwardly, and more conversational than the books I usually read. The author kind of writes like one might speak to an old friend. It took a few chapters for the writer to get a good vibe going but once it hit its stride, it was really good. Third person POV is not my favorite, but it was pretty easy to get over once I was interested in the characters.
And I'll say there are obviously other books in this series but I was able to follow along still all the same. I'm interested to read them but I don't think I missed anything by not reading them and going straight to The Agent. I was given an ARC to review.

(Slight spoilers that are mostly guessable)
Roman is an extremely likeable character. He nearly makes me want to weep when he talks about his past. Camilla is so charming and you really root these two characters on the whole book. The character development in here is top notch. It really makes you so happy for them to be together.
One thing I thought was really interesting was the POV from the antagonist (but still in third person). But being able to follow them on their side of the story was really cool actually. I was impressed with that twist, and to be honest, there was a time when I was slightly rooting on the leader early on but then things kept taking darker turns. I really didn’t see the ending coming quite the way it happened.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would be happy to read another book by this author.

Loved this series! Can’t wait to see what book this author comes out with next.
Kai and Camila meet at a trivia game night. She causes feelings for Kai to arouse that he wasn’t aware he was capable of anymore. They meet later and Camila becomes in danger. He will do anything to protect her. This is where all the feelings get involved. Can he keep her safe? Will they become a couple? It’s a really great book!

The Agent by Kimberly Kincaid, is the sixth book in The Intelligence Unit series, and brings us the story of FBI agent Kai Roman, this is a tough man who has earned him the nickname The Ice Man because nothing affects him and he keeps his feelings under absolute control so he doesn't let anyone get close to him, except for Camilla Garza, this beautiful woman, whom he meets in a bar on a trivia night, and although his attraction was immediate the feelings she evokes in Kai they make him practically run away, but this is because Kai is a widower and vowed never to fall in love again after losing his wife. Camilla is the youngest in her family and works as a high school guidance counselor and is the opposite of Kai in terms of feelings, after a year they meet again in a bank robbery, and this brings them closer and even more after Camila's life is in danger because she can identify one of these thieves, so Kai will do everything possible to keep her safe, which will lead them to the feelings from which he fled to return with more intensity and this time he will not be able to run away from them.
A story full of suspense, emotion, twists and turns, with a lot of intensity, passion and love, that will captivate you from its first pages. A completely exciting story that you will not want to miss. Highly recommended!!

¡¡Altamente Recomendada!!

THE AGENT is the sixth and final full-length instalment in Kimberly Kincaid’s contemporary, adult INTELLIGENCE UNIT erotic, romantic suspense series -a spin off from the author’s Station Seventeen and Remington Medical series. This is FBI Agent Kai Roman, and Camila Garza’s story line. THE AGENT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments or series is revealed where necessary. Camila is the youngest sister of Detective Matteo Garza (THE GUARDIAN 5).

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Camila and Kai, THE AGENT follows the building romance and relationship between FBI Agent Kai Roman, and Camila Garza. One year earlier, FBI Agent Kai Roman rejected the advances of Camila Garza having found himself on the outs with our heroine’s older brother. Fast forward to present day, our couple find themselves witnesses to a bank robbery, a robbery in which Camila will fast become a target of the robbers involved. In an effort to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, Kai and Camila go into hiding but their return means facing down the people responsible. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Kai and Camila, and the potential fall-out the thieves target our story line heroine, and Camila’s brother refuses to accept Kai as a potential mate for his younger sister.

The world building continues to focus on the men and women of the Intelligence Unit of the Remington PD . Kai has a checkered past with Camila’s brother Matteo, and as such he is not welcome in Camila’s life but Camila’s life is in danger; she has been targeted for what she saw, and in this Kai becomes guardian and protector of the woman he loves.

FBI Agent Kai Roman has a history with Camila’s brother Matteo, and as such they tend to butt heads when thrown together. Camila is tired of the over protective attitude of her brother but understands that under the circumstances, her life is now in the hands of our story line hero. Both Kai and Camila are strong-willed and determined but Camila struggles with her attraction to a man she believes is too quick to run away. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including many of whom we met in previous instalments: Xander Matthews (The Rookie), Matteo and Delia(The Guardian); Detective Shawn Maxwell, and Detective Addison Hale. Matteo Garza continues to be the proverbial thorn in Kai Roman’s side but Kai refuses to back down from the woman with whom he is falling in love.

THE AGENT is another character driven, and fast paced story of suspense and tension, crime and desperation, acceptance and love. The premise is intriguing and tragic; the characters are determined and dynamic; the romance is seductive and provocative.

I absolutely loved The Agent by Kimberly Kincaid the sixth book in her Intelligence Unit series. It was a bittersweet book knowing that if is the final book in the series, I have enjoyed the characters in the series. Kimberly Kincaid has once again delivered another incredible romantic thriller that kept me guessing how they would catch the team behind the bank robberies. I loved every moment on every page of The Agent, and it was impossible to put it down. I love how the title of the book is incorporated into the love story. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I also enjoy that Kimberly Kincaid has included characters from her other series in the Intelligence Unit series. It was nice catching up with the other characters that I have grown attached to. It is like a family reunion. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, and loving friends who always support one another, they are all such wonderful characters? I love how Kimberly Kincaid somehow, manages to find the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong woman on her own, to balance out the sexy detective. Once again Kimberly Kincaid has shown that she is an incredible storyteller who continues to deliver sizzling romantic thrillers. The Agent is the story of Camilla Garza, elementary school guidance counselor, and Kai “The Iceman” Roman, an FBI agent who has worked with the Intelligence Unit and is the archnemesis of Camilla’s brother, Mateo. Roman is a widower and is not interested in finding love again, his late wife Gabrielle was his soulmate, and she died in an accident shortly after they were married. Roman’s attraction to Camilla begins when they meet one another at the Crooked Angel on Trivia Night, he then ghosts her for almost a year. Carmilla and Roman both happen to be at the same bank when three masked robbers enter the bank to rob it. Camilla helps them load the bags with the money and notices a unique quality about one of the robbers. While investigating the robbery it is discovered that there have been a series of bank robberies with the same details. Camilla draws pictures of the robbers’ eyes that she noticed while she was in the vault, and that helps with the case. The Intelligence Unit works the case, Roman is annoyed that the FBI is not involved. At their next attempted robbery, the robbers discover details of the Intelligence Units case when the bank guard, a rookie officer, leaks information during the attempted robbery. An attempt is made on Camilla’s life, so Camilla and Roman head to a safe house. Once again Camilla uses her artistic skills to assist with the investigation. While spending time together Camilla and Roman with one another, their relationship quickly changes. Both Roman and Camilla share secrets with each other that they have not shared before. I love all the things that Camilla and Roman do for each other. An unexpected plot twist puts Camilla’s life in danger, and Roman and Mateo must work together to rescue her. I love how the case gets resolved, and how both Roman and Camilla admit their feelings for each other. I love that Camilla’s dreams of using her artistic skills for a career become a reality. I love the ending of their love story. The Agent is filled with sizzling romance, poignant and bittersweet moments as well as the surprise plot twists that I have come to love and expect in Kimberly Kincaid's stories. The Agent truly is a page turner, kept me guessing how Roman and the Intelligence Unit were going to be able to solve who all was involved in the robberies. The Agent was bittersweet in that it is the last book in The Intelligence series, it was an incredible story worthy of their final farewell. I love the cast of characters in The Agent and catching up with the other characters in the series. It feels like a reunion among friends. I love how the epilogue introduced the characters for Kimberly Kincaid’s new Remington Rescue series, I am looking forward to reading the books in her new series. It was an amazing story and I highly recommend it.

I liked this latest addition to Kimberly Kincaid's The Intelligence Unit series, but it didn't necessarily captivate me. Camila and Roman are very likable main characters, and they have great chemistry, but their individual backstories were not fully formed and therefore not fully convincing.

First, though, it's important to note that we've met then both before. Roman worked the case that was featured in Matteo and Delia's story (the previous book), and Camila is Matteo's sister and Delia's BFF. The two hadn't met, however, probably because of Roman's self-imposed social isolation.

So Roman has experienced loss that has made him reluctant to let others in for fear of getting too attached and maybe facing loss again. It wouldn't be overly spoilerish to explain more about his losses as it reveals early on, but I'll leave it to you to read about it. But mostly, he lost people he loved, but I didn't really see how who he lost and the manner by which he lost them led to six years of isolation. I'm not minimizing his loss, but the way he processed his loss just didn't seem to jibe with his character. It seemed more like a convenient plot device. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Camila has a few off things as well, though not with how she processed life. Her feelings off inadequacy definitely jibe with her status as the youngest of five in a close-knit, nosy, loving family. But she's a job hopper—that in itself is okay, but when they describe the jobs she's held, I felt like it was unlikely that she held some of them. You don't just apply to be a massage therapist; you have to go through a board-certified program, complete a minimum of 500 hours of practice, and be certified. To be a school guidance counselor, I'm pretty sure you need a master's degree.

The bad guys. If the mastermind is so incredibly smart, why didn't he have the one person wear contacts to hide their unusual eyes?

These are all small issues in the grand scheme of things, I suppose, but they bothered me. Maybe because they made the book seem rushed and not well reviewed? Dunno.

It's still a good book, don't get me wrong. I just think it needs a little more attention paid to the details.

If you've read the previous books, you'll probably enjoy this one as well. If you haven't, you can still enjoy this one as a standalone.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Kimberly Kincaid ratchets up both the danger and desire in her newest Intelligence Unit romantic suspense novel. Set within her popular Remington, NC world, this one hits the ground running with a breath-stealing bank robbery and never lets up. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough while at the same time, wanting to slow down time and savor every single word, nuance, and emotion.

In real life I wouldn't have the patience for a moody, broody (albeit gorgeous) man but our fictional Roman in the capable hands of Kincaid? Yes, please! I'll take all that and more. I loved the pairing of Roman and Camila. If you've been reading the Intelligence Unit books, you already know Roman's IU adversary is detective Matteo Garza, none other than Camila's uber-protective big brother. Seeing his baby sister fall for the PITA FBI agent is sure to send Matteo spiraling and create all kinds of delicious conflict. Matteo and the rest of Camila's big, boisterous, protective family guarantee plenty of humor to strategically lighten the heavier aspects of the story.

I loved watching Camila begin to acknowledge and own her strength and confidence; watch her learn to stand up for herself and chase her dreams. She and Roman have fiery chemistry but they also have a sweet vulnerability that they only feel free to expose with one another. It opens Roman to the possibilities of a new love after devastating loss. It strengthens Camila, offering her a loving partnership of equal standing. It left me sighing happily for both of them.

The suspense portion of the book is tightly plotted, filled with plenty of twists and turns that heighten the intensity as the characters race to find the villains before Camila pays the ultimate price. It's a well-balanced blend of danger and romance that had me gasping and sighing in equal measure.

Kincaid has written the books in this series in a way that each story stands on its own. You can absolutely enjoy Roman's and Camila's journey without having read the earlier books but I'm willing to bet you'll be so intrigued with the secondary characters (especially Garza and Delia from The Guardian) that you'll want to read their books too.

If romantic suspense is your catnip and you've yet to discover Kimberly Kincaid, I highly recommend diving straight into her Intelligence Unit series. Each book is an action-fueled, steamy, page-turning adventure I never want to put down.

The main gist of this love story is that spunky Camilla tames the grumpy Roman – along with some very suspenseful bank robbery antics. They are the definition of “opposites attract” with the addition of our heroine being the baby sister of our hero’s professional nemesis. You know that will add some special spicy drama.

I have been anxiously awaiting Kia Roman’s story! He has been the sharp and sexy FBI foil to our Intelligence unit’s team throughout the series. Having saved Camilla’s bestie Delia by taking a bullet in a previous story. He is the epitome of dedication to his job. Due to the tragic loss of his wife several years ago, Roman has emotionally detached himself from any romantic or friendly relationships. He is not willing to get close to anyone ever again so as not to risk that potential loss.

Camilla is a carefree soul (and secret artist) who is rambling from job to job to the dismay of her overly protective family. She meets Roman a year earlier through her bestie Delia at a team trivia night party. Camilla’s fun and flirtation penetrated Roman’s emotional grip. So much so that he got up and ran out of the bar the minute she proposed a kiss. But Camilla never left Roman’s thoughts for a whole year.

Their “meet cute reunion” just happens to be during an armed robbery. Coincidentally, they both happened to be in the bank the minute the armed robbers dropped in to stick up the joint. The baddies get away with the money, but Camilla gets caught in the melee’ with the knowledge that she can identify a very rare characteristic of one of the bad “guys”.

In standard Kincaid form, our author does not drag out the romance for long. Our two opposites end up in a forced proximity troupe as Camilla now needs to be rushed off to an FBI safe house. And our darling Roman is the agent assigned to protect her and fall for her. Lots of sexy times ensue in their cocooned safe place. Once they must leave the safe house and head back to reality, things go crazy as the baddies want to take care of this loose end – that being Camilla’s ability to ID one of the robbers.

This is a romantic and tidy end to Kincaid’s Intelligence Unit series, and I am sad to see it go. Camilla and Roman’s story is so worth the drama to get to their happy ever after. Looking forward to the next Remington series that our lovely authorette Ms. Kincaid has coming next.

I was given an ARC from the Author and publishing company for an honest review.

Kai and Camila burns up the pages with romance and suspense in The Agent by Kimberly Kincaid, book six in The Intelligence Unit series, an opposites attract story that takes the reader on an adrenaline filled roller coaster ride; making it so you will not want to put the book down.

Kia Roman is brooding, sexy and cautious with his heart; an FBI agent known as The Iceman because he freezes everyone out, especially anyone that he might have “feelings” for. He keeps all his feelings locked down and holds everyone at arms length. Camilla Garza is the baby of a large overprotective nosy family and sister of Mateo; strong, independent and very brave with her heart. She is currently a middle school guidance counselor and the opposite of icy controlled Roman. A year ago Roman and Camilla connected at a trivia night in a bar but the feelings it evoked were too much for Roman and he ran. Their next interaction a year later is at a bank, right before the bank is robbed and where Camila is the only one who gets a good look at one of the robbers, and as the only witness who could potentially identify one; she now has a target on her back. But Roman is determined to protect her no matter the cost, and the pair end up in hiding until the threat is eliminated. Their “solidarity” over their traumatic experience during the bank robbery reconnects and restarts their journey to finding happiness together. Before they can get there, they will have to deal with their personal baggage all the while trying to stay safe from the diabolical criminals who are trying to kill Camilla.

Ms. Kincaid is an expert at writing heart-pounding suspense and steamy romance stories; keeping this reader mesmerized with the need to see how Kai, Camila and the rest of the Intelligence Unit would stop these villains before they got away with their crimes and if these two would find their happy ever after. This story had everything, action, suspense, danger, laughs, swoons, and spice, I am sorry this is the last book in this series but excited for the new Remington Rescue Squad series. I highly recommend The Agent to other readers

The Agent

Chemistry from GO!

In this fun and strong willed book in the intelligence series we get Kai Roman and Camila Garza. What a fun pair. The authors writing flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: Nothing rattles stone-cold FBI Agent Kai Roman. Not chasing down ruthless criminals. Not losing his wife years ago. Not even inadvertently being caught in the middle of a bank robbery.

Except Camila Garza is right beside him when danger strikes, and suddenly he’s the only person who can protect the off-limits beauty. No matter how much her older brother hates him.

And no matter how much he secretly wants her.

Camila knows she should hate Roman. He’s made it clear he doesn’t like her or possibly anyone—one bit. But when they have to go on the run to save their lives, she begins to see past his icy exterior to the man who would do anything to keep her safe.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

FBI agent Kai Roman is known as The Iceman because he freezes everyone out, especially anyone that he might have “feelings” for. While he is hanging out with his fellow defenders of all things bad, he is introduced to Camila Garza, best friend to the girl he just saved and sister to the cop he loathes and who loathes him. But Camila and Roman establish a connection over darts until she suggests that they become a team rather than adversaries. He panics and walks away.

One year later, he walks into his bank, and whom does he run into but Camila - right before someone says, “Nobody move! This is a robbery.” As fate would have it, the ring leader singles out Camila, asks her full name, and sends her to help fill duffel bags full of money, for which she is rewarded by a hit to the head, but not before getting a clue that might help the Intelligence Unit catch the thieves.

Ooh, what a juicy start to Kimberly Kincaid’s latest romantic thriller in this series that is an on-the-edge-of-your-seat nail biter set in Remington, North Carolina. And, oh, the snarky repartee between serious Roman and impulsive Camila is not only enticing but at times laugh out loud. I also love how the author weaves in issues that need the light of day, in this case, the community food kitchen that devotedly serves those in need.

Get on board with our couple as they try to help solve the robbery even though they are forbidden access to much information since they are “too personally attached” to the case, which leads to their drawing closer. Can Roman let down his defense mechanisms enough to find love again, or will the fear of loss hold him back? Will Camila finally break away from her family’s overprotectiveness? And will the robbers be brought to justice before more violence erupts? The plot roars like a freight train to its conclusion as readers are treated to a beautiful romance with hot, steamy sex inside of a hair-raising thriller with a breath-taking surprise. Don’t miss this one!

The Agent is the 6th book in the Intelligence Unit Series by Kimberly Kincaid, featuring an exciting opposites attract romantic suspense story for Kai Roman and Camila Garza. Roman is an emotionally isolated FBI agent who thinks he can protect himself from the pain of another loss like that of his late wife, if he just keeps people out of his life. That is, until he meets Camila, and she ignites a spark in him that he never expected to feel. One fun evening hanging out together sent him running, but a chance encounter during a dangerous situation a year later changed everything. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Is he man enough to offer up his heart in the process?

This was the first book by this author that I’ve read, and it was an awesome ride!! The action started early and continued throughout with drama, angst, and twists. I loved how well-developed the characters were. Roman was this closed off grumpy guy, altered by years-long grief, but with Camila he was able to open up and blossom right before my eyes. Camila’s own inner turmoil comes through as well, and they way they support each other was great. I also love the different supporting characters and the witty banter and drama they bring, even if they do meddle too much.😂 As far as the romance, the chemistry between Roman and Camila was extra steamy, and I was happy for them! I definitely didn’t have trouble enjoying this book without the rest of the series, but the other characters were intriguing, so I hope I can catch up soon! But now I’ve been teased by the upcoming Rescue Squad Series! My TBR is going to need a rescue squad soon!😂 Oh well, I love finding new to me authors, and I happily recommend this action-packed book!

This was a slow burn, romantic suspense/thriller that pulled me in and held me captive till the very end.

FBI Agent Kai Roman has a painful past that keeps him closed off and guarded from emotional connections. He meets Camila Garza in a bar one night, and she stirs things inside him that terrify him enough to reject her advances and bolt. A year later, he runs into her at a bank 5 minutes before 3 masked armed men bust through the door to rob the place. Camila is the only one who gets a good look at one of the robbers, and as the only witness who could potentially identify one, she now has a target on her back. But Roman is determined to protect her no matter the cost, and the pair end up in hiding until the threat is eliminated....

A truly exciting edge of your seat story! This was my first Kimberly Kincaid read, but it will most certainly not be the last. I loved these characters. Camila was spunky and smart and stronger than she gave herself credit for. Roman was one hell of an FBI Agent, and though he tried to be all business, he was so kind and caring. The pair had such wonderful chemistry, terrific banter, and an intense attraction that led to some of the steamiest pages I’ve ever read! And I loved the bond they created, Roman had so much respect for Camila and trust in her. My heart broke for him for his past losses, but I loved that he started opening up and letting people in, especially Camila. The bad guys were positively sinister and well written. And I loved Camila's overprotective nosy family.

Overall, I loved this book. It had everything, action, suspense,  danger, laughs, swoons, and spice. It’s well written with plenty of twists to keep you on edge and had a well-deserved HEA! And after that epilogue I’m excited for the next book!

This is book 6 in The Intelligence Unit and it can absolutely be read as a standalone, however I do recommend reading the previous books first as characters that are seen in this book are also seen previously.

Nothing rattles stone-cold FBI Agent Kai Roman. Not chasing down ruthless criminals. Not the grief of losing his wife years ago. He’s made it clear he doesn’t like her—or possibly anyone— one bit. But when they have to go on the run to save their lives, she begins to see past his icy exterior to the man who would do anything to keep her safe. Including risk it all…

On the one hand, I am sad because this is the last book in this series and I am sorry to see it end. But on the other hand, there is a new series coming and I can't wait for it! I really liked Roman and Camila. Both of their characters were likable and they have these interactions/bantering back and forth that I truly enjoyed. They have great chemistry without it being over the top and not believable. But the banter is definitely what drew me in with them! I loved seeing members from previous stories, but then I always do when a series is done right! My only drawback, and why I dropped it to 4 stars, is that I felt like the bad guys were into something else than just robbery. At least that was the lead up for me, and then it kinda didn't happen that way. And I was left thinking wait, what? Other than that, I loved how everything else in the book went!

3.5 stars rounding up...

I think it has been a while since I've inserted myself back into Kimberly Kincaid's Intelligence Unit in Remington but it's always nice to step into a growing world that she's created out of first responders, medical staff and cops--whose relationships are growing increasingly intertwined as they pair up.

I remember Kai Roman as an outsider for a while and the friction that he caused in the close-knit community of these characters, but it was lovely to have Kincaid draw him into the fold with a story of his own. Roman's got his own tragic backstory--it's not really explored too much--which accounts for the Iceman status he gets everywhere but it's Camila Garza who finally manages to unlock this uptight man after a bank robbery that tips the scale the other way. There's enough chemistry and heat between them to make them a believable pair, but sometimes they feel like a forced couple who came together because they'd adopted 'solidarity' as their mutual theme.

I thought the suspense is generally well set up, yet there are parts where the story (in particular the bits with the bad guys) seems to take the easy way out. I'd gotten excited having the antagonists ramping up their own activities and had come to expect a major showdown at the end but the climax felt more like a deflating balloon than a spectacular explosion. More so because it all ends in an abrupt conclusion with a strange epilogue that isn't at all related to the main storyline but one that points to Kincaid's next book instead.

Overall, it's not quite one that I'd call a favourite, but definitely good for a few hours of escape.

Ever since FBI agent Kai Roman was introduced as a supporting character in The Guardian I have been curious about him and who is the man behind the stony facade. Well The Agent answered all of those questions in an exciting way! If there was anyone that I think was the perfect person to catch his eye it is hilarious that it ended up being Detective Garza's little sister Camila. She may be a 30 year old middle school teacher but to Matteo she is still his baby sister and he still has a hard on for Agent Roman. Camila and Roman meet at a Remington outing and after Roman takes off she doesn't think that they will ever see each other again. Well fate has a weird way of bringing these two together in being both in the same bank when it is held up! This case is more than a one time deal and Camila and Roman are bound together by not only wanting to see the criminals brought to justice but by something more. As they work together they find out that there could be so much more to their lives if they both take a chance and open up. I loved these two. Roman may be cold on the outside but that is only a shell to protect a heart of gold. Camila is smart, funny and loving and is really what Roman needed to move forward with his life. The Agent was told from dual POV and not only was there action and intrigue but plenty of heat! I wasn't necessary to read the previous books in the series however I recommend those as well to learn about more of the characters from the fictional Remington world!

Kai Roman is an FBI agent that keeps everyone around him at arm's length. He's lost too much in his life to want to take the chance of loving someone again. Unfortunately for him, Camila comes along and manages to push right through all of his barriers. They have to work together to keep Camila safe from a criminal before they can find their happily ever after.

Camila was a good character. She is smart and strong. She doesn't have much of a growth curve in the story because she is pretty much fully formed at the beginning. I like how she handled being involved in a bank heist and then chased by the bad guy. I really enjoyed how she helped Roman open up to the chance of love. Her relationship with her family was a good addition to the story. Roman has a lot of growth during the story. He has been closed off for years following the death of his wife. His journey to being more open and emotionally availed was nice. I thought the bad guy was good. I enjoyed the conclusion of the bad guy storyline.

One issue I had with the story was that the bad guy seemed to know some things that I couldn't figure out how he knew. The author introduced an option but then didn't follow through, so I was left confused.

This is a contemporary romance set in the much larger world of first responders. I haven't read any of the other books in the series but I was able to understand all of the various relationships. The epilogue is the introduction for the next story. I will read more from this author in the future.

FBI agent Kai Roman and Camila Garza, as in Matteo Garza’s little sister are in protective custody together after witnessing a bank robbery. The spark and chemistry from a year ago burns brighter and finally ignites as the danger draws closer to them.

Although Kai comes across to everyone as cold and distant, Camila is able to break though the tough guy exterior to the man with deep feelings and emotions laying dormant underneath, but can Kai handle getting emotionally entangled again after losing his wife years again?

Roman and Camila truly sizzle on the page, when they’re not running for their life from the bank robbers. And it’s nice to see Roman and Garza (Matteo, Camila’s older brother) finally working together without banging heads or a full out war brewing between them. And while Matteo may not like Roman, he does respect his skills and ends up trusting Roman to keep his sister safe.

I loved reading this book in the series, and getting to know Roman, the man; not just Roman the closed-off, jerk FBI agent.

One of my favorite quotes from the book: Roman laughed. “You’re a force of nature, sweetheart. If you decide you want it, I don’t think there’s a roadblock in the world you can’t tackle.”

And my favorite quote that Roman and Camila used with each other: “Solidarity!”

There is a happy ending, but not before taking the reader through a heart-pounding, suspenseful conclusion. Oh, and there’s plenty of sexy times with Roman and Camila.

**4-4.5 stars**

The Agent by Kimberly Kincaid is the final book in her awesome Romantic Suspense Intelligence Unit series and features FBI agent Kai Roman and Matteo Garza’s (The Guardian: Intelligence Unit #2) younger sister Camila.

Kai Roman doesn’t do feelings and keeps himself at a distance from those around him. After losing his wife six years ago, he’s closed himself off. Don’t get close, don’t get hurt. His main focus is his job.

But when Kai meets Camila Garza one night at the local bar for trivia night, she stirs up feelings he didn’t even know he was capable of at this time in his life. Not wanting to confront those feelings and what they mean, he leaves her before anything more can happen between them.

One year later, he runs into her at the Bank. That’s where everything takes a dangerous turn. The bank is robbed and both Kai and Camila, along with the other patrons and employees are praying they make it out alive.

When it becomes clear that Camila may still be in danger due to circumstances that happened during the robbery, Kai will do everything in his power to keep her safe.

The more time Kai spends with Camila, it gets harder to keep his walls up. The chemistry between them is just too strong to deny.

Suspense, danger, surprise twists and hot sexy times, The Agent is a great ending to the Intelligence Unit series!

Plus we get a sneak peek at Kimberly’s upcoming Remington Rescue Squad series!

I love a good romantic suspense and this book did not disappoint!! I absolutely loved the fast pace of this book, it made you feel like you were on a roller coaster with all of the emotions!

One of the highlights of this book is the impeccable character development. Each character undergoes a transformative journey, showcasing their growth and evolution throughout the series. Readers will find themselves emotionally invested in their stories, feeling a genuine connection to their triumphs and struggles. The author's ability to create such relatable and multifaceted characters is truly commendable.

The engaging storyline is a delightful blend of various elements, skillfully interwoven to captivate the reader's attention. From heartwarming moments that tug at the heartstrings to steamy scenes that ignite passion, the novel effortlessly balances romance and danger. The romantic suspense genre finds its pinnacle here, as Kimberly Kincaid masterfully orchestrates an intricate dance between these two elements, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

Throughout the narrative, Kimberly Kincaid introduces thrilling action sequences and encounters with perilous situations that add an extra layer of excitement and intensity. This element of danger adds a compelling dimension to the story, driving the plot forward and heightening the stakes for the characters we've come to love.

I am sad for these series to end but I am excited to see what comes next!!

Frosty the Snow Agent and His enemy's little sister
Kai Roman is the FBI agent working with the Intelligence Unit. There's always a problem with jurisdiction between the two agencies. Garza has a real problem with Roman even though he helped save Garza's girlfriend last year. Roman has shut himself off from most everyone because of the loss of his wife and no one knows about her. Now Camila, Garza's younger sister, has caught Roman's eye. For the first time, he starts to open up and then immediately shuts down. Now a year later, they meet again in the most unlikely place - a bank and now it's being robbed! During the robbery, Camila is taken back with two of the robbers. She notices the distinctive eyes of one of the robbers. When they get out of the situation and give their statements, Roman is feeling protective of Camila because she's a material witness - and he's attracted to her. In order to protect her, the agency puts Camila and Roman in protective custody in a safe house - together - alone! Sparks fly between them and also from Garza who doesn't want Roman anywhere near his little sister. Camila and Roman start a secret romance. Will Roman be able to keep Camila alive? I loved this last book in this wonderful series. I'm really going to miss these wonderful people. I'm looking forward to the epilogue coming after the book is printed that I'll get because I pre-ordered the book. I received an advanced copy to read and review early. I'm leaving my honest review.

Camila and Roman are explosive.

I was captivated from the beginning of this installment of the Intelligence Unit Series. Kai Roman is an FBI agent whose nickname is Iceman, and he lives up to the hype. He shows no emotion and lets no one get close to him. He meets Camila Garza through a mutual friend. Camila is the sister to his nemesis, Matteo, in a previous book (#2) in the series. I enjoyed watching Camila melt the Iceman.

I loved the way Kimberly Kincaid brought these two together with danger and adrenaline. Then Roman goes immediately into protector mode to keep her safe. There is so much more to Roman than I was expecting and I fell in love with him. I was swept up in the thrilling action and suspense as well as the family dynamics of the Garza clan. The dialogue was clever and made me chuckle when Camila’s family became involved. I also enjoyed watching Roman and Matteo begrudgingly respect each other first, then move on to something perhaps resembling friendship by the end of the book. These two alpha men have more in common than they know. I held on through the twists and turns the story took and loved the unexpected development at the end. This book was a quick, emotional read and I highly recommend it! I received an arc of this book from Grey’s Promotions, and this is my honest review.

An adrenaline roller coaster of a read full of suspense, drama, emotion and romance.

Camila Garza and FBI Agent Kai Roman are both inside the bank when it is robbed. Camila is injured and having been up close with the bank robbers is able to give valuable information to her brother Detective Matteo Garza’s team, the Remington Intelligence Unit. FBI Agent Roman is frustrated he’s not able to actively help track down leads to identify the bank robbers, but when danger comes to Camila’s door he’s able to save her life and get her to safety.

These two opposites have a solidarity bond and have helped each other since the bank robbery. Both are extremely attracted to each other, and Camila gets under Roman’s protective shield opening up to emotions and feelings he has kept buried since his wife’s tragic death.

I loved how Roman is so supportive of Camila, helping her to see how brave, smart and capable she is while Camila helps Roman deal with his emotions and feelings coming back online after being the Iceman for so many years.

This is a fantastic read which grabbed my attention and never let up. The POV from the bad guy helped give additional nuance to the crime and the danger Camila was facing.

I received a free ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

I've loved this series since the beginning, and while I'm always craving the next book, I'm also sad that this is the last book but oh what an ending it was! Our hero, FBI Agent Kai Roman is a man who buries any feelings he has deep down, and isn't willing to revisit said feelings, so his nickname is the Iceman. I mean, I get why he does it because he's been through some hell in his life, but it could be a bit frustrating at times despite the fact that I couldn't get enough of him. Camilla is our amazing heroine who felt a connection with Roman at one point until he ran as fast as he could since he felt the same thing, and as far as she knew, that was that. Fate is a funny thing, and they actually come face to face again in a defining moment of life when they're caught up in a robbery together, and it bonded them for sure, especially since Camilla now has a huge target on her back as those baddies want her dead, so Roman is going to protect her at all costs. This story was all kinds of exciting with twists coming in hot, a bunch of angst (some healing needed to be done for a shot at happily ever after), heat, and a supporting cast that added humor into the mix. I loved this story & the whole series so much I'll be rereading it again and again so yeah, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

The next book in the series has F.B.I. agent Kai Roman back after he saved Garza’s fiance in the last story. Garza still has negative feelings towards him and it only gets worse when he and a beautiful woman hit it off at the bar. Seems like they have much in common including being pissed at the older Garza as well since she is Camila his younger sister but is still tired of the family treating her as a baby. After having it out with her brother the two of them spend the rest of the night together until they kiss and since Kai does not do feelings and relationships he panics and bolts, to the point of not talking or seeing her for a year. When they do meet it is the middle of a bank robbery and Camila is taken in the back by one of the robbers where she is to help with loading the money in bags, they also find out her name before knocking her out. Here the story takes a turn where you go back and forth between the robbers and their problems and then Kai and Camila need to leave for Camila's protection. This is when everything begins to change between the two of them you just wonder if it will stay like that or if will he panic again. A good story with some mystery and suspense to keep you going to see what happens, worth the read. I received this book from Netgalley.com

When Kai Roman sets his sights on Camila one night, the stone cold agent gets caught up in the flirting and banter with Camila, the sister to Matteo who happens to be a detective on the Intelligence Unit and has had some disagreements. Camila doesn’t let Matteo get to them which makes Roman even more intrigued by the beauty….until the end of the night when Roman walks away w/o looking back.
Now one year later he runs into Camila in a bank….a bank that is getting robbed and the two of them with other customers are at the mercy of the armed men. When the robbers take an interest in Camila with what she witnessed, Roman will use all his resources to protect the only woman who in five years has awakened his dormant feelings and chips away at his stone cold persona….she just has to survive long enough for them to have a future.
Sooooo good, from beginning to end the descriptions were spot on, the characters were amazing and we finally find out who the man is behind the stone heart. The sparks, banter and fireworks between these two and the steam….hot. The twists and turns, surprises and suspense will keep you flipping the pages.
