DuChamps Dynasty #2

Have a Little Faith in Me

Rate this book
Book Two of the DuChamps' Dynasty Series.
Book One, Been Loving You Too Long is available at Amazon.

On the surface, Kaitlyn DuChamps is everything Grant Ashworth despises—a spoiled heiress with a bad attitude serving out her sentence on the farm as she tries to meet the terms of her uncle’s will. Brat or not, there’s no denying that she’s beautiful. Even as they snap at one another, he wants her, and it doesn’t take long for him to realize that there is far more to Kaitlyn than she wants the world to see.

Kaitlyn wears her bad attitude like the armor that it is. She forged it herself from the ugliness, from the pain and betrayal of her past. No one gets in, no one sees the real her, and no one gets past her carefully constructed defenses. Even as she gives in to the heat between them, to a passion with Grant unlike anything she has ever experienced, Kaitlyn tries to keep her emotional distance.

But Grant sees through her, digging at her secrets, chipping away at the walls...and when her past comes calling, she has to decide just how much she trusts him.

The author gave me this book for an honest review.

I knew that this would be a very good series since I started reading the first book. Now that I finished the second, I am sure of it! Love / hate relationships, intrigues, high society dark secrets, vengeful men and women are some of the main characteristics in these books that make them so interesting. The fact that the author is very talented is obvious from the very good characterization in these books.

Let’s say some things about the plot… Kaitlyn is a spoiled heiress but to able to have the money from her uncle’s will, she has to live and work on a farm. Grant is a man who isn’t impressed by money or fame. But he can see Kaitlyn for what she truly is. And after many years of pretending, it’s time for her to love and be loved.

I liked Kaitlyn a lot. It was easy to see that all her attitude was just a façade. She is a very nice person and she’s not afraid to try new things in her life. Her sarcasm is just her way to deal with her loneliness and all the dishonesty she sees every day. When she is far from all the parties and the social events she finds out that she likes a more peaceful life. Also, she is very smart and caring woman. She speaks the truth and she is not judgmental.

Grant was amazing! He’s smart, works hard, doesn’t care about money or fame, he protects the people he loves and he knows how to treat a woman. Also, he admits it when he’s wrong! Yeah, he’s the real deal! It’s obvious that he’s the perfect man for Kaitlyn because he brings the best out of her!

I enjoyed this book very much! The only reason, I gave 4.5 stars and not 5 is because, I wanted more details in a couple of scenes! Nevertheless, I recommend this book to all the fans of this genre!

Loved It

This is the second book in this series, this author is new to me but I love her work. This story focuses on Kaitlin, the feisty, take-no-prisoners middle DuChamps child. We learn in the 1st book that their uncle Thomas, who raised all three children, put some pretty strict stipulations in his will. Older brother Vincent had to marry and remain married to Ophelia, a woman he'd been pining over for years, for at least one year; Justin, the younger brother has to fix up an inn, and Kaitlin has to work on a ranch for 3 months. If they violate their uncle's wishes, they will be disinherited.

Kaitlin comes across as a spoiled "celebutante" but underneath her brass, sometimes crass exterior is a very vulnerable woman who has been very wounded in the past. But she meets her match in Grant, the son of the owner of the ranch. The ranch has horses, and Grant's mother is also a foster mother. Needless to say, Grant and Kaitlin do not hit it off at all but they both recognize they have a lot of physical chemistry, which is so combustible they have to act on it.

I loved Kaitlin's spunky personality and I loved the way Grant was not afraid to challenge Kaitlin. I thought the love making scenes were FANTASTIC! It is rare that you get to read such sensuous, delectably slow love making scenes. The villains, Uncle Claude and the scheming Melina are over the top, but they serve their purpose as foils for the other characters. My only "ding" is I wish the foster parenting, dealing with the needs of foster children theme had been given more attention in the book. It's an important issue and it could have been better integrated into the story.

Like the series a lot and plan to go on to read the final series in the book.

Overall its an OK story and I loved all the characters except Kaitlyn. I disliked her a lot throughout the whole book! But its a good book and I recommend for a quick steamy, drama filled story!

Kaitlyn ~ In all honesty I didn't like her, she reminded me of all the mean girls from H.S. who get anything, whoever they want! Yeah she has a past, but in all honesty it didn't seem to faze her instead she tried to use it as a 'poor pity me' type thing! Also I seriously lost all respect towards her when she threw that accusation at Grant pertaining to Allison! That pissed me off that is not something you accuse someone off just cause your jealous!

Grant ~ I loved him, he's such a country boy who isn't afraid of much of anything! I did think he let Tessa and Kaitlyn run all over him though. In the end he was just a bit too soft-hearted! But overall he's a decent guy who had the life he wanted without the drama! untill he meets Kaitlyn.

Till next time ~ Sweets Books

She smoothly went from book 1 into book 2 with a hint of book 3 which I started last night. Way to go with the substance of the stories. I am hooked. I am not a grammar educator, nor am I spell checker I leave that to editors, proofreaders etc. Yes, there are a few misuse of words although if you write erotica of any type it happens during the erotic climatic scenes, it happens so people need to get over it. They are so minor it was not worth the mention. It just irritates when anyone reviews on minor infractions rather than the substance of a book, these are subjective. In this review I usually do not do any spoilers however the sister is out in nowhere trying to make it while big brother is at home with his own problems, little brother is in a completely different part of the country dealing with his demons. Hurt and pain of the past ebb back into her life until she is that teenager fighting her way through life again. But as the title implies it is time to have a little faith.

It starts out with the two main characters passing barbs back and forth. It was a great, rhythmic word play that I loved reading. I have high hopes that the author can keep it up. It was an excellent start to this book.

The author was great in the writing of this book! I love that the barbs of wise cracking stayed through the book. The main characters did not stop the verbal tennis match when they jumped in bed. It kept on until the end. Great job!

The storyline kept a cool pace that kept me, the reader, on the edge of my seat but not too much pressure that I had to read this book in one sitting. The book also ended on a higher point than when started. The roller coaster of emotions was not even for my taste. The book was an upward climb until the end and then it was over.

I stayed up until 4am reading this book as Ms. Donavan took me on a ride through Kentucky horse country in a fun, suspenseful, and sexy read. Kaitlyn DuChamps is the bad girl, floating through life on her looks and family money. Grant Ashworth is the hard working good guy who begins to see there is more to this woman than a smart mouth and hot body. The plot was interesting, the dialogue snappy, and the sex, hot. The characters were fleshed out into believable people and their relationship evolved. While the book is listed as an erotic romance, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to readers who enjoy a sexy contemporary romance. The third book just went on my TBR.

4 1/2 HOT FUNNY STARS! Seraphina nailed the alternating POV! The characters all had their own voices. Grant is one sexy man candy of a cowboy! Kaitlyn is a sassy sweet underneath her attitude heiress. Their chemistry is immediate and HOT! I also fell in love with the supporting characters Loralei and Deena. Malina is the perfect villain and you love to hate her. This was a very engaging read that I couldn't put down! ~ Leslie

I read the first in the series whuch really helped to see how much of a brat Kaitlyn was from the beginning and how she would be in her own story. From their first meeting you could feel the fire & attraction between her & Grant. And when they FINALLY came together..talk abiut fireworks. The trials they get thru together shows you not only how deeply they feel for each other but also how stubborn the two of them are. Soo can't wait to read Justin's story!!

A Lively and Entertaining Tale

As a follow-up to the. main story we move to Kentucky. Sipping on some good eight year old bourbon, the author made me recall my trips to Kernel and along with horse racing. I am pleased to say the story is superb and I am left wanting more. More! Now, please. Giggle
