No matter where she goes, USA Today Bestselling author Nikki Lynn Barrett hears voices in her head. Instead of calling her crazy and locking her up, her family realizes it's just a product of being an author and allows her to write the stories so that the voices shut up.
But they don't. And probably never will. There's no need to lock her up, Nikki knows she'll never escape the voices, not until each and every last story is written. And for every story she writes, about ten or more ideas pop up.

When she isn't slaving away at her computer writing books that will probably make you cry and keep you in suspense, Nikki plots to take over the world one book at a time. What? It's a sickness. One she can't escape!

Books aren't her only addiction, though. Nikki can be found making up parodies to drive her son crazy, and bantering back and forth with her husband, who somehow manages to steal her away from the fictional world she lives in all the time.

Nikki lives in Arizona with her husband and son, where she can be found using every creativity outlet she can find through music, photography, handcrafted things, and random interests that she may pick up from time to time.

I had the privilege to receive a ARC of this book. Just 9 days always to the release and the journey that these two will go through. The synopsis of this book really tells you what the story is about. Yes, this is a trilogy so for those who wonder how it will end. Let's just say it doesn't end with a cliffhanger (I'm not a fan of those). The love, the journey, the mystery they are faced with, and the bond they share is all wrapped up in this story. Nikki has done an outstanding job taking our along for the ride and really not leaving you frustrated when it ends. Job well done 5 Stars for sure!

I made the mistake of reading book#3 before I read 1 and 2. But I am so glad that I got to read this I was so wrapped up in this story. I could feel myself growing to connect with the characters as they went though their tragedy, heartbreak, romance and yes even suspense of what was to come. If you are looking for a feel good solid read then you might want to check this one out.

Their connection rooted in tragedy, Rebecca and Hunter meet every year at the site where they lost their families and nearly died in a plane crash.  For years, it's been their chance to reflect, to remember with the only other person who could possibly understand.  But without a word, Hunter simply stops showing up.  One year without him stretches into two stretches into four.  And just when she's about to give up on what she plans as her last visit, there he is.

But while their reunion may be a happy one, it's also the beginning of something else, something they just can't figure out.  Strange things are happening around them, mysterious notes are showing up, and while neither one of them has any clue what it means, they know it can't be good...

Okay, if I'm being completely honest, the cover was okay.  Not amazing, but okay.  It captured the setting well enough, but it didn't really feel like it reflected the characters.  However, the real reason I almost passed this book up was the title.  I know, I know.  That's kind of a stupid reason.  But the title seemed more like a Lifetime made-for-TV movie title than one for a great romance, and it wasn't until someone else mentioned having read and enjoyed it that I went back and took another look.

Despite my initial misgivings about the title, it turned out to be a great read.  Just the way these two came together and came to depend on each other is unlike any other story I've read, but there were some pretty realistic aspects of it all that also pulled me in.

Hunter was the one who pulled Becca from the wreckage when they were kids, but she didn't come away unscathed.  Still, she handles her "shortcomings" well, and Hunter has remained her savior.  However, rather than being the stereotypical alpha male, he manages to be simultaneously sweet and protective, showing more genuine concern than overbearing testosterone, and even in the midst of a mystery, their friendship and romance is incredibly sweet.

As for that mystery?  Well, this is book one of a series, and since there's much more to come, it's not entirely solved in this one story, but surprisingly enough, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger.  Nikki Lynn Barrett does a fabulous job of wrapping up this part of the tale while leaving room for plenty more.  That's a rare find in series like this, and it made me love the story all the more.

A Masterpiece of Our Love is one part mystery and one part romance, with strong characters I couldn't help but love and a wonderfully unique foundation for the story.  It's everything I normally read romance novels for, but it has an entirely different twist that makes it so much more.  I'm sure there will be a bit of a wait before the next book comes out, but I've no doubt I'll be grabbing it as soon as it's available.

Nikki Lynn Barrett is on tour now with CLP Blog Tours and A Masterpiece of Our Love

I’ve been so excited to read this one, because I know Nikki Lynn Barrett pretty well from the book blogging community. If you haven’t visited her book blog Storm Goddess Book Reviews – you should! Anywho, I was excited to read her offering, and I’m so happy I did! This story had so much depth – a tragedy, a romance, a mystery. The suspense aspects really heightened the book, and I actually got goosebumps a few times – especially the night I was reading in a thunderstorm! This book is the first in a trilogy, and I’m so excited to read the next ones!

Loved this series of books & Nikki Lynn Barrett is fast becoming one of my favoured story tellers.
These stories just keep going & you don't want them to end. So many twists & turns that not only hold your attention, but keeps you guessing. Nikki's central characters are never perfect, don't always make the right decisions, but you can't help but love them for who they are.
Looking forward to reading more from this talented writer.

A Masterpiece of Our Love (The Masterpiece Trilogy, #1) by Nikki Lynn Barrett

Where to begin...this was a true romantic, tragedy. Two child survivors of a plane crash, were brought together by horrible circumstances, which helped to forge an unbreakable connection, a permanent bond.

Hunter Beckman, a plane crash survivor at 12 years old, has lived his life fighting the demons from that crash. Having no family of his own, much like Becca, he created the life he has, became a pilot of all things, and has a deep seated love for the one person who has always been there for him. The one person he sought to save for five long days on that tragic day when he was just a child himself, Becca.

Rebecca Lange, Becca, has fought for her life from the beginning as an 8 year old survivor of a plane crash. Being told she would never walk again, or that she couldn't do what the doctors said, she forged ahead and never let those circumstances hold her back. Becca became a strong woman, even with the many things she was still afraid of, one being flying. An artist herself, she teaches handicap children to paint, draw, and create art. Her profound, unconditional love for one man has left her numb to all others. The one person that she knew would always make her feel safe, Hunter.

Hunter and Becca's friendship over the years, brought them to the place of wanting more. Neither one ever wanted to break the beautiful bond they had, but taking it to the next step was inevitable. The author did a wonderful job turning that friendship into an unshakable, deep love, that draws a connection between two people unlike anything else in the world. I could literally feel the union through the author's words and was drawn to these characters and their plight. My heart took a dive many times throughout the story, because of the never ending twists and turns that this couple was accustomed to. So much tragedy and heartache, I ached right along with them. The beautiful thing is, the author sprinkled in such goodness through Rebecca's character which even through all the anguish, made me feel really good as well. Nikki Lynn Barrett

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Rebecca and Hunter's story. I must say, I was a bit at a loss at the end when the author left me hanging with so many unanswered questions. However, I look forward to reading the next book and hope to have all my answers revealed. Kudos to you Nikki, for composing a magnificent masterpiece of love... Grēta

REVIEW: what can I say about A Masterpiece of our Love? This story truly is a masterpiece. I can't imagine how Barrett has managed to conceive such a plot. I am awestruck at her use of imagery and words, every scene unfolded right In front of me. While the novel started out slow, the writing still captured my attention. But as the story progressed, the pace increased, and I was unable to move my eyes from the screen (I have puffy eyes to prove it). The storyline is very interesting with many twists and cliff hangers. Also, the way in which the story is written, I felt I was living Hunter and Becca's life with them. The characters were WOW. Each one with a fitting personality. My favourite character would have to be Hunter. I loved the way in which Barrett has portrayed him as a strong yet soft hearted guy. I loved the way she wrote of his actions towards his demons, and how he responded to Becca as compared to the other characters. The love between the two main characters is written beautifully. However, now I'm stuck waiting for the next book in the trilogy, and i feel like I'm stuck with Hunter and Becca, until I read the next one. The storyline is very different to your usual stories. It's filled with secrets and suspense at every point. I suggest you grab this and read it soon. You might just discover a few steamy scenes as well ;)

Becca and Hunter may not have had the best meeting but it created a bond between them. A bond nothing could ever tear apart included four years of not speaking to each other. Now they have reunited at the island they try to visist every year. It is a place for them to remember those they lost in a plane crash when they were kids. They were the only survovprs. Now as they have been reunited after four years someone is out to get them. Becca agrees to go home with Hunter for the summer so they can see if there bond is more than just a friendly one. Trouble soon follows them. They have to try and figure things out before it is to late. All the while healing each other from their past.

Hunter is a great guy. You learn from the start he did everything he could to help Becca even when they were just children. He would do anything to help her. Once he believes in something he gives it his all. He also has problems he doesn't like talking about. The ghost from his past have been stirred back up and he hates to let anyone know. I really liked him and watching him realize he really loved Becca. Becca is someone you just have to read about. She has problems to this day resulting from the plane crash but she still goes on. She has been told what to do all her life and has felt unwanted by her grandparents. Only with Hunter does she open up. She is a very strong woman but she does have her weak moments. After all she has been through who wouldn't. I have to say she really and truly shows how brave she can be when she is in danger. You will love her. There is also very special other character that melted my heart but you need to read the book to meet that special one.

I am a huge fan of this author and I probably always will be. However being a fan isn't why I love this book. I loved it because from start to finish I was falling in love with Becca and Hunter plus most of the time it is a great mystery. They were the only ones to survive a plane crash and both seem to be missing peaces of what happened. As they start remember more and more I kept thinking ok this will be the time it is all revealed, but nope I still haven't figured it all out. The author does an amazing job keeping you on your toes. Not only that you also see these two amazing people realize they are in love. Hunter I think has held on for so long with everything that he finally starts breaking. I think in the long run it will be the best thing to happen to him so he can finally move on. I hated to see this book end and was very disappointed to see it was the last page. I wanted so much more. The author does an amazing job that you just have to know what next. If you want to read about two amazing people who stole my heart be sure to pick this up. A warning is in need though. you will want the next book now as I do. I can't wait for the next one.

In A Masterpiece Of Our Love, the first book in The Masterpiece Trilogy, author Nikki Lynn Barrett weaves an intriguing romantic suspense tale that follows the relationship of two young people brought together by a horrible tragedy that forges a connection and an unbreakable bond between them.

Twelve year old Hunter Beckman and eight year old Becca Lange are the sole survivors of a plane crash that tragically took the lives of their families. Their strong connection and bond formed a special friendship that they shared over a span of twenty years, as they annually returned to the island that forever altered their lives, until the past four years when Hunter suddenly stopped coming to the island. When Hunter shows up on the island the following year, they easily rekindle their comfortable friendship, but as they have grown into adulthood, they are no longer able to deny the intimate feelings that they have for each other. As Hunter and Becca try to heal and find love, someone doesn't want them together, and threatens to undermine their blossoming relationship.

A Masterpiece Of Our Love is an emotional story filled with tragedy, love, struggle, secrets, passion, mystery, and suspense. Author Nikki Lynn Barrett easily draws the reader into Hunter and Becca's love story as they struggle to deal with the tragedy and its aftermath that forever changed their lives. The attention to detail, the haunting flashbacks to their tragic past, mixed with the intriguing twists and turns surrounding the mystery and suspense of the stalker, keeps the reader guessing what will happen next. I loved how the author develops Hunter and Becca's blossoming relationship with drama and emotion, while interweaving it with the mystery of the stalker, it kept me engaged and turning the pages ... but alas, the author leaves the reader wanting more as the story ends with a cliffhanger, enticing them to eagerly await the continuation of the story in the next book in the trilogy.

A Masterpiece of our Love is the first book in an exciting new trilogy. The author has written a beautiful romantic love story, filled with suspense, mystery and drama.

Becca was 8 years old when she lost her family in a devastating plane crash. Pulled from the wreckage by 12-year-old Hunter whose family was also aboard the plane, they were the only 2 survivors. The story starts out 20 years later, where Becca and Hunter reunite annually, although Hunter has been a no-show for the past 4 years, he arrives this time. They easily rekindle their friendship, and realize they both have stronger feelings for each other than just as friends.

I found Becca to be an amazing character. She has overcome so much in her life and she just keeps going. Throughout the story, you get flashbacks of what she has been through since the accident. She is a strong, smart and determined woman. It was so easy to connect with Becca, and there were many times I just wanted to reach out and give her a hug.

Hunter is a likable character as well, but in my eyes I felt he failed as a hero. In the beginning, he seemed to be a stong and supportive counterpart to Becca, but as his problems started to unravel, he just fell apart. Instead of getting the help and support he needed, he just ran away. While I felt Becca’s character grew throughout the story, I just couldn’t relate to Hunter.

This book mainly focuses on Becca & Hunters relationship, but has some drama thrown in as well. There is also a stalker who is threatening both characters, and the mystery surrounding that keeps things interesting. My only issues with this book are: at times I felt the story dragged a bit and used way to many ‘I love you’s ‘ as fluff. Also, I am not a fan of cliffhangers, and this book left me hanging. I felt frustrated with the ending, and would’ve liked a little bit more closure. I definitely want more of Becca & Hunter and to find out the story of their stalker, so I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

A Masterpiece of Our Love (The Masterpiece Trilogy Book 1) by Nikki Lynn Barrett
This is a wonderful wrote story of Becca and Hunter. Becca was only 8 years old and Hunter only 12 years old. Their lives were changed totally that day when the plane crash happened and stole their families. They were all that was left and they were hurt, in more ways than one. Becca had several severe injuries and Hunter suffered too. Could they be found and could they forever live with their lives hurt by the tragedy?
They met up several years later at the island that altered their lives. Then they met up each year but then there was a 4-year break and although she hadn’t heard from Hunter she went as usual and he did come and found her.
There is a mystery to be solved and this book only covers parts of that mystery. Someone is not happy that they are back together. Hunter decides that Becca should come stay with him for the rest of the summer. He would feel together they were safer but it was also to uncover that pull they had for each other.
In those 4 years Hunter had married, become a father, and divorced. He was able to concur his fears and he became a pilot and had no issues till one day his memory of the crash forced him to have a very bumpy landing. He was battling his ex-wife for custody of their little girl. He suffered nightmares and kept so many things closed in himself. Not wanting to share much and let people in at all.
Becca took to the canvas and painted what she saw in her head. She never thought they were that good and when Hunter suggested she should think about selling them she thought no way would anyone want them. But he had several scattered through his house. Becca had suffered a time where the tragedy made her not able to talk, plus she endured brain trauma and surgery on her leg. Part of the plane lodged in her leg and had made it necessary to repair it. She was in a wheelchair for a time and the doctors nor her grandparents ever thought she would walk again. However, Becca was stronger than they gave her credit for.
Enjoyed this story so much and could not wait to begin Book 2. The need to find out their stories and the mystery unfold.

Every year Rebecca Lange returns to a special island close to where her life changed. For the past 4 years her close friends Hunter Beckman has not returned and Rebecca is not sure that she will be coming back again.

Yet this year Hunter returns and the two have realized that much has changed in their lives. But as they begin to look towards the future there is someone from the past who is trying to bring it back to them and they are wondering if someone else was there that night.

As the two battle ghosts from their pasts Becca realizes that Hunter is holding some secrets of his own that threaten all of the trust that the two of them have built. Will Hunter confront the demons of his past and realize he can't do it on his own or will it cost him everything he has ever loved?

Wow - this book was so good and dealt with so many emotions! I can't imagine what Becca and Hunter went through as kids and can completely understand any issues that they currently have. Their friendship is so solid as they both understand what the other has gone through and gain strength from the other. Yet Hunter is trying to do too much on his own which is leading to his issues.

The mystery in this book is intense and it's going to be a tough next book knowing that there is still that mystery out there. Hunter and Becca have to be diligent in their safety and I'm scared to see what the author has in store for them.

What hurt the most was listening to Becca discuss her childhood with her grandparents that didn't want her and how they pushed Vince on her. It's pretty sad what she endured with them not believing in her.

Hunter worked so hard to achieve what he has but you can tell that he has been missing something/someone. He also doesn't like to open up to people and it definitely had me worried at a few spots during the book. I'm hoping he gets the help he can in the next book!

This book was great and I can't wait for the next one!!

An author that I have been following on Facebook, asked for some people if there were some people interested in reviewing her book, A Masterpiece of Our Love. I asked if I could, and she so graciously handed me a copy.
A Masterpiece of Our Love is the first book that I have read from Nikki Lynn Barrett. I am really glad I had the opportunity to read this story. I truly loved it.
Hunter and Becca are drawn together from a tragedy that happened in their childhoods. Hunter believes in Becca and pushes her to succeed in everything that she can do.
When Becca was old enough to meet Hunter, they started meeting at the island that changed their lives forever, then one year Hunter stopped showing up...
Becca couldn't give up on her friend. She showed up to the island just hoping that he would show up.
Becca was right on not giving up on Hunter. He showed back up to the island. From their the reunion turned from happy to mysterious. Someone was not happy about their reunion.
This book was very well written. I love it when authors actually tie up the lose ends with the story, but yet continue the plot. Ms. Barrett was able to keep doing that so well. The plot turned just as I thought the book was coming to an end. I never saw that coming.
This is a sweet book about a girl that loves a boy. They grew up and as much as the girl wanted to keep the friendship going, she was also in love with him. This was a great book and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to read it. I can't wait for the story of Hunter and Becca to continue. There is also a few characters that I hope talk to Ms. Barrett for a story of their own.

Masterpiece of our Love by Nikki Lynn Barrett
www.melenasreviews.com

Family and love are two things that have kept Hunter Beckman and Rebecca Lange. It is family that makes them see one another but something is brewing between them. Hunter is the only man who understands Becca and listens to her. As an 8 year old who just lost her family in a plane crash he is the only one who knows what she’s dealt with all these years. He might have been just 12 years old but Hunter took on great responsibilities with her along. All these years they see one another but one thing has changed. Becca sees him now as maybe the true love of her life. Nobody understands their relationship only them and now it is being tested. Hunter has known all along Becca is more than a friend to him and it scares him. Becca is the only link to a past that haunts him yet is the woman for him in every way. She understands him and doesn’t see him with fear. You know sometimes I wonder how else Nikki Lynn Barrett can make this reviewer love more of her stories. Masterpiece of our Love is the first of a trilogy that I can’t wait. Hunter Beckman is not your usual hero for he is a man tormented by nightmares and a longing to be at peace. Becca Lange is the one who can bring peace into his life but knows that it will change everything. These two were beautiful and now have to wait for the next one. The tragedy that has happened in most cases tears people apart but Nikki Lynn Barrett has magic that makes it a masterpiece to bring them together. Highly recommended and hopefully not wait a long time for the next one in this beautiful trilogy.

4 Brought Together by Tragedy Stars

Becca and Hunter are brought together at a young age, when they cling to each other and life after a horrific plane crash takes the lives of their family.

Brought together years later, Becca and Hunter are trying to heal from their losses, and find love and a future for themselves. Someone is trying to stand in their way, and continues to try and threaten their future.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is part one of a Trilogy, and does contain a cliffhanger. Although I normally can't stand a CH, this one did not leave me banging my head against my kindle. =)
I really enjoyed the story line and I found the character development to be well done. At times I did feel there was a little too much given to draw out the book. It was just a little over written at times.
This is a mystery/romance book, which I thoroughly enjoy, and I enjoyed how when I thought I knew what was coming next, something else would happen and throw my thinking right out the window and make me reconsider where things were going.
Overall, I really enjoyed this quick read, and look forward to seeing how this trilogy plays out in the end.
REVIEW
New to me author.
Hunter and Rebecca were the only 2 survivors of a plane crash or were they?
They were very young 12 and 8 years old.
Through the years they never lost contact and into adult hood they came every year to the Island where the accident had taken place. For a few years though Hunter didn't show.
This year though Becca was certain he would show and he did. Surprising her and she was so happy to see him.
So much has happened to them both through the years and through it all they have been there for each other.
Becca knows things have changed between them but what?
Hunter has never spoken to someone about the things he has been feeling through the years he has been there for everyone but himself. Can Becca wake him up to realising he needs help?
And what of the letters they both have been receiving? Who is it? Why are they being threatened?
This was a fantastic true heart felt romance story of two people who have dark deep demons of the past that
they have carried both handling things differently but both remaining by the others side. Very well written story and I love that the author brings details of the past into the present so we lose nothing of how or why. Although we do end with a cliff hanger.
Becca met Hunter when she was just eight years old. Even at that tender age they formed a bond that would last a life time. They met at the worst time in both of there lives and somehow what would have driven many away has pushed them together. Becca is a teacher who has to battle her grandparents medaling to find her a husband she does not want. Vince comes across as shady and controlling. He seems not to understand Becca is not interested in him. It makes me wonder his motives.
Hunter was twelve when he lost his family but he saves Becca’s life and formed a bond that would stay with him. Becca became an important part of his life. Hunter battles to let anyone close to his heart but somehow Becca gained that place not he just has to let her into his life. The closer the danger comes to Hunter and Becca the more Hunter becomes paranoid about their safety.
The chemistry between Becca and Hunter is blistering. I loved how realistic they were as they started to fall in love. They did not jump into bed with each other but got to know each other better and mange to try to merge their lives together.
A Masterpiece of Our Love is the first book in The Masterpiece Trilogy by Nikki Lynn Barrett. I found this book well written with interesting and engaging characters. I really had a hard putting this book down once I started it. I even like how this book ended. While this book is part of a trilogy, it did not leave you hanging. I really can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy. Overall, this was a fabulous book.
I was intrigued by this book because it seemed to suggest something more than a simple love story. I was not disappointed when I read it.
The book starts on an island. Becca waits to see if her friend, Hunter, will turn up this year as he has failed to meet her for several years. We don't know what has happened to make him stop turning up, nor do we know straight away why they have met in that same place over the years.
The author does a great job at slowly bringing their past out, featuring flashbacks as a way of doing this. But she also manages to bring that past into the present by creating a mystery which adds another dimension to the story. Someone unknown knows what happened back then. They appear to have knowledge which would suggest they were also part of the past both Becca and Hunter still struggle to forget. But neither one can remember anyone else being involved. Trying to decipher the clues puts a lot of strain on the friends, leading to both mental and physical stress.
Add into the mix that Becca still suffers from physical problems relating to her past and we have everything we need to make this a great read.
The author managed to shock me when she revealed everything, as I honestly didn't see it coming. There were no clues as to what it could be, at least none that I spotted. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with in the next 2 books and I will be waiting with bated breath for their release.
Becca and Hunter. They survived a plane crash. With no family left, and young, they had no one but each other.
They made a pact that each year they would return to the Island they remember where they were survivors which held a special meaning for them. This is what happened, until one year Hunter didn't show. Can you imagine the devastation of emotions that must have gone through Becca? He is her only link to the horrific past they went through together. You see, Becca was injured in the plane crash, and Hunter cared for her.
The thing is Hunter had been showing symptoms of PTSD. Becca stood by him though through all of this, where can he be?
Why didn't Hunter return to the Island? Why do did they regularly agree to meet on the Island if all the horrific memories come back? what use is that?
There is a mystery in this story, it keeps you hanging in there. And although this book doesn't end in one of those aweful cliffhangers, it still has the 'gasping' factor at the end wanting Nikki Lynn Barrett to hurry up and get book 2 done!
I so wish for a happy ending for these two, but I also need some questions answered, so yes, this author has done her job well......she's kept me hanging.
I was lucky to get my complimentary copy from Aspendawn Books and it was a pleasure to read and review.
I just loved this book, when you read it make sure you have tissues handy. Becca and Hunter survive a plane crash that kills both of their families. Hunter was just 12 and Becca was just 8, he saves her and the two build a close friendship for 20 years. Becca had to overcome her massive injuries/head trauma. Her grandparents were no help they just tried to hold her back, but when she was nearly 18 she got emancipated, and then was able to blossom. It was then that Hunter and Becca would meet on the island near where the crash happened and pay condolences to both of their families who perished. That was the first year she met Hunter on the island, and they made that a yearly event, for nearly 6 years they met, then Hunter did not show up for last 4 years, Becca continued to come to the island and remember her family and his. Hunter shows up after 4 years of not showing and they are able to renew the friendship, but something is sinister is going on. Becca decides to spend the summer with Hunter to see if they can make a relationship work between them, but with all the turmoil in Hunters life and the threats they both are getting it will be hard. Poor Becca what happens to her was so sad I was just terrified reading this portion of the book. This is such a great 1st part of the story, I cannot wait for the next book to see what becomes of them as a couple.
Pleasing surprised. . . I am more of a gun-toting heroine type of reader or the panty-melting but brooding and handsome hero both of which are not necessarily beautiful love matches and usually define 'opposites attract' statement. This book, however, begins as a cure for your sweet tooth. I really didn't want to like it at first, but Becca and Hunter just grab hold of your heart and hold it hostage until you give in.
I am thinking Stockholm syndrome (raising hand sheepishly). Becca is a strong heroine who has never truly given up on life. Hunter is just too amazing for words. At 12 years of age he saves 8 year old Becca, pulling her from the waters after a plane wreck that killed both of their families. As I read I saw the strength of will both have while struggling with PTSD and in Becca's case severe physical injuries.
By the end of this book I have fallen not only in love with the characters but with the author as well. Total girl crush. It is Nikki Lynn Barrett's ability to write strength and courage and understanding in a way that makes you see and feel it, and in doing so, she wipes away of all your doubts at the start of reading the book. There is no way I can not read the next book in this trilogy. . .luckily I already have it on my kindle. Laters . . . .
I was so excited to get my hands on the newest release by Nikki Lynn Barrett. I adore her and the passion that she puts into her work, and A Masterpiece of Our Love was no different.
The story of Becca and Hunter is deeper than a love story, and one that spans over twenty years. As kids they suffered the worst kind of tragedy. They both had to find strength to go on, and found that they are strongest when they're together. Which might be why they try to meet on the island on the anniversary of the tragic accident they both endured, until Hunter quits showing up.
Not knowing if he'll show or not, Becca holds true to their promise to meet every year and makes the trip. When Hunter surprises her, he explains where he's been and what kept him away. Even though they both have their own trials in life, they come to find a reignited spark, one that soon ignites a passion that takes them both by surprise.
The author does a fabulous job at scripting tragedy and hurt. The physical disabilities described are just as daunting as the emotional pain. You can tell there is something deeper ready to hit this couple. I'm not always a big fan of cliffhangers, but I trust that Nikki will make it worth the SHORT wait!
***** 5 STARS!
** TARA'S 4 STAR REVIEW **
Becca and Hunter are brought together at a young age, when they cling to each other and life after a horrific plane crash takes the lives of their family.
Brought together years later, Becca and Hunter are trying to heal from their losses, and find love and a future for themselves. Someone is trying to stand in their way, and continues to try and threaten their future.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is part one of a Trilogy, and does contain a cliffhanger. Although I normally can’t stand a CH, this one did not leave me banging my head against my kindle. =)

I really enjoyed the story line and I found the character development to be well done. At times I did feel there was a little too much given to draw out the book. It was just a little over written at times.

This is a mystery/romance book, which I thoroughly enjoy, and I enjoyed how when I thought I knew what was coming next, something else would happen and throw my thinking right out the window and make me reconsider where things were going.

Overall, I really enjoyed this quick read, and look forward to seeing how this trilogy plays out in the end.

In Nikki Lynn Barrett's novel, we meet Becca and Hunter, who survived a plane crash as children. At the time, Hunter was twelve, Becca eight and seriously hurt. The burden thrust upon Hunter to keep Becca and him alive until they're rescued, and the fact that he has no other family, impacts him severely. The tragic accident bonds Hunter and Becca for life.

Although Becca suffered traumatic brain injury, Hunter's affliction is mental not physical. Flash forward twenty years: He begins exhibiting symptoms of PTSD. He senses that he overlooked something important; something he lost awareness of. While Becca and Hunter fall in love, she tries to stand by him, despite his nightmares and irrational behavior. Soon, the two of them realize they have a mutual enemy that is hell-bent on destroying both of them.

Some of the mystery is solved at the end of this first novel--but the how and why remain unanswered. I was sympathetic to the hero and heroine, to all they endured; and I want so much for them to get the "picture-perfect ending" they deserve. Guess I'll have to wait for the next two books in the series. Great storytelling, Ms. Barrett!

Now I would love to know who could read what this book is about and just go by without reading this book? They would have to be heartless. That is what this book is about, the two hearts of two children that have suffered the same way and only have each other to lean on.

As you read this book you get more and more into it. You know that you will be sucked in to never be without a great memory of your own. This book will haunt you even when you're sleeping. You wonder should I read a book by this author again or just walk away and admit what happened and promise yourself to never let it happen again.

I had to see how much the feelings that Becca and Hunter had for each other. Would it get more intense as they get older and not see each other in several years. Is there anyway that this author could get all of her thoughts and ideas and put them all on paper. There isn't a book by this author that I haven't liked yet. I hope that she doesn't make a bad one just to drive me crazy.

So really you should stop reading my crazy review and get to reading this book. I hope you like it and the ending is great.

This book contains everything from romance, heartbreak, tragedy and suspense. Becca and Hunter form a bond when they are sole survivors of a plane crash when they were young. They meet on the island where the plane crash took place. Hunter has not showed for the past 4 years but comes back this year. It starts them on a path to romance, but someone else has different plans for them.

The storyline has you feeling every emotion you can think of. It is not an easy road for Becca and Hunter. They both have to overcome the past that haunts them. In this book they had to work at their love and it made the storyline all that more great. Throw in the suspense of someone out to ruin their love and it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The characters are well developed and you feel the emotion they are going through. Your heart breaks for the tragedy of the past and soars when they are happy with each other.

Becca and Hunter were brought together by tragedy. After a horrific accident, their young lives were torn apart. Becca is sent to live with grandparents, who are ill-equipped to show her love and compassion for her loss. Hunter fights his own demons and builds up a wall around his heart, cloaked in sorrow and pain.

As their lives go on, Becca and Hunter go in different directions but are always drawn to the one place that neither will ever forget. Soon, they find their shared grief may be turning into something more and testing the waters of what those feelings may be leads them on a journey richer and fuller than they may be prepared for.

Hunter's troubles soon follow and threaten to sever their already fragile relationship. Watching their shared story and their individual stories unfold was both exhilarating and heart-wrenching. This is a beautifully executed tale that will touch you on all levels.

This is the first book in The Masterpiece Trilogy.
This book contains is a combination of more than one genre and contains many elements ––– tragedy, romance and suspense. Becca and Hunter form a bond as children because of a shared tragedy and it looks like that bond will never be broken. Each year they return to mourn their losses and to find comfort, but Hunter disappears for four years.
Becca still returns each year, even though her grandparents try to dissuade her, but the island pulls her back each year. She’s an adult now and a school teacher, despite the injuries she received. When Hunter returns, the two survivors begin a new journey, one which promises so much for the couple who have suffered so much. But someone else has another plan.
Although this book doesn’t end in a cliff hanger, their story isn’t finished and I'm looking forward to reading how their story ends continues.

A Masterpiece Of Our Love is Book One in The Masterpiece Trilogy. Hunter and Becca are two people whose lives are intertwined when the plane they are on with their families goes down in an awful crash. As far as they know they are the only 2 survivors. They both are trying to heal even 20 years later. They are bound together by what happened to them, and they understand each other like no one else can. They soon realize that the feelings they have for each other need to be figured out.
Some strange things start happening to the couple. Neither one can figure out why or who would do the things. Becca goes home with Hunter to spend the summer trying to contemplate what their lives will be like with each other, and for safety.
This book is a Mystery, Drama, Passion, Romance, Intrigue, Love Story all wrapped up into one! Enjoy!
