Islam and Nihilism: My Poison and My Cure

Rate this book
In this book, the author seeks to make clear the growing problem of nihilism prevalent throughout the world. The feeling of the meaninglessness of life has more and more people in its grip, and this book explains the root causes of this issue, along with outlining its effects. This is done as a type of diagnosis of an illness which is connected to growing problems of depression and suicide which nearly everyone has either experienced themselves first hand, or knows someone who has. Religion, and more specifically, Islam, is offered as a cure to this illness, and step by step it is shown how Islam has within its framework the antidote to many of the issues caused by nihilism, along with providing a toolkit to many of the common obstacles/objections that impede the way towards Islamic Monotheism.

Alhamdulilah, I’m so glad I came across this book. If you’re a young muslim questioning your purpose in this world or suffering from nihilism or cynical thoughts on religion and god. I would recommend reading this. Yusuf does an amazing job putting things into perspective and explaining how such thoughts are misleading. We are living in a time where we have access to so much knowledge at the tip of our fingers which can be extremely overwhelming and stressful. I personally was inflicted by these thoughts and i’m so grateful I came across this book, it helped so much.

Honest academic approach toward nihilistic philosophy and its position with respect to Islamic worldview.

First half of the book contains the problems nihilistic worldview possesses and why its wrong from the root of it.

The second half deals with negating nihilism using Islam. I think this part could've been addressed in a better manner.
