This book has two stories about the same couple. The first story starts out really strong, but then everything happens a bit too quickly and gets resolved too easily, but the second story was so good that it made up for that, so I feel comfortable giving this book four stars.
Kabe is a 19 year old university student. Because both his parents have passed away and he has no one else to rely on, he has to work different jobs to make ends meet. So when his fellow student Yuzuru introduces him to a well-paying job where he's supposed to clean the house of a guy called Wakita, one of Yuzuru's acquaintances, he agrees to at least meet for an interview, even though it all seems a bit too good to be true. When he arrives at Wakita's place, he is met by a grumpy man who, after several harsh questions, suddenly throws him down onto the couch. Kabe is shocked, to say the least, but he manages to escape. But then, several days later, the same man appears before him - to ask for his forgiveness, because it's all been a horrible misunderstanding. The guy Kabe met actually isn't Wakita, but Wakita's ex-boyfriend Segasaki, who thought Kabe was a call-boy. There's actually even more to the story, but well, let's just say that things happen and in the end Kabe and Segasaki end up together and are the cutest couple I've read about in a while, seriously. Let me elaborate.
Characters:10/5 stars because of Segasaki Kabe is, due to his special circumstances, very grown up for his age. He also generally takes his time to think about things, and he's kind-hearted, honest and outspoken and an all around nice guy. He's a really active uke who doesn't mind taking the initiative.
Segasaki may be one of the most adorable semes I've ever encountered. Once I really get to know him - which is at the second meeting - I couldn't help being charmed by him. He's - like Kabe - really honest and kind, and also kind of too serious, but really, really adorable. Thanks to his experience, I guess, he's also surprisingly smooth in bed.
Chemistry: 4/5 The two of them are adorable together, and the sex is exactly the emotion-filled kind that I love. I also loved that both of them actually did their best to actually say what they feel most of the time, meaning there were no unnecessary misunderstandings apart from the first.
Plot/Pacing: 3/5 The first meeting between Segasaki and Kabe is hilarious, and, actually somewhat plausible. The brother-complex bit I could have lived without, but my main gripe is that the falling-in-love part happened a bit too fast. Even though Segasaki's very early confession made me like him even more, it also might have been nice to wait just a little longer - this way, there was almost none of that angsty doki doki feeling I love so much.
All in all Segasaki and Kabe are just a really nice and happy couple. It made me happy to read about them, which isn't something to be said about every BL novel.
