This book was an interesting read for me. I’m not usually a romantic suspense kind of reader, but I thought this story might help dip my toes in the genre.
The story had a lot of twists and turns (as expected for suspense) and there were times I had to reread certain things to clear some confusion for me.
The author’s writing style was also a little hard for me to read at times, especially during conversations between characters since I wasn’t sure who was speaking.
While I do appreciate the theme of not only forgiving others but yourself, I think the ending on that was a little forced and unclear. Do Mariah and Tanner really forgive themselves for Mark’s death? It seems implied to me, but it was not said straight out.
However, I did appreciate the mystery aspect of this story. Who is disturbing the cabin? Where are the drugs coming from? SPOILER ALERT: Little brother (16 year old) Myles was running around with a drug gang and using the cabin as a meeting place. Hopefully, the rehab works for him.
I will also say that I related to Mariah a lot. Being the oldest girl and trying to keep everything together is stressful and often leads to struggling with control, especially as a Christian who is supposed to give all control to God out of trust. It was nice to see her reconcile with her older brother in the end.
Overall, I don’t regret reading this book. I might read another romantic suspense story in the future.

This action filled story starts out on a farm being cared for by a young woman and her younger brother. Their mother lives there too and has dementia which is worsening as the story goes on. Marah is a nurse and works in the local hospital's emergency room. Her younger brother is supposed to be in school learning a trade, but is not spending a lot of time there. Myles often shirks his turns to watch his mother and look after her while Marah works and that causes problems for Marah. Myles becomes involved with the local drug scene and Marah gets some help from the young man who lives on a dairy farm across the road. This is a fast paced story with lots of action, a disastrous fire, shooting, shakedowns, issues with working as a nurse, issues with drugs and a gunfight too. Exciting tale with love intertwined with the action . A very good read to liven up what would otherwise be a quiet afternoon. I loved the story and would read it again for sure.

I love this book. I love Moira, and Tana. I didn’t at all like her brother Matthew nor did I like Levi, let me stop I can’t name all the people I didn’t like in this book and although I say I didn’t like them some of them spurred me on to continue reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. This book is so good filled with family drama, romance and in my opinion an unnecessary garage. I really didn’t like the fact that the whole family hated Tanner and held him responsible for an accident that he was in also. In any event this book was great the ending was great the storyline was great everything was great with the exception of them holding a grudge as I said I thought that was ridiculous but it kept the book interesting. I hope they have A second book because they have some really good characters in this book. Whether they be likable or unlikable.

I'd rate this a 3.75 stars. Mariah is trying hard to hold her life together but with a mother who suffers from the early stages of dementia, a younger brother who takes no responsibility, and a next door neighbor who is her enemy nothing seems to be going right. Tanner served his time and coming home he knew would be a hard transition but his family has been a great help. He knew moving back in right next door to Mariah was not really smart, but he made a promise to watch over her. When strange things start happening at the farm Mariah and Tanner have to work together and keep safe. But will their growing feelings make this even more challenging? A sweet romance with a fun mystery. Fun read!

Heartache and Love

Tanner finds Marah's Mother roaming around in the woods and brings her home.
Tanner has come home from serving a 10 year sentence of manslaughter because he was driving drunk and Marah's brother had died in the crash. Even though Marah had a big cush on Tanner, she still couldn't get pass that day. Tanner sees all the problems Marah is having and wants to help her. Will she let her defenses keep him away? Well written story with strong and believable characters.

It was a good read. I fell in love with tanner. He seemed like a genuine guy for Marah. The lesson learned in this book is that people can be forgiven no matter what. MARAH FAMILY seems troubled and tanner is always coming to her rescue. I like how the family comes together in the end.
