Great achievement for a high schooler. Fantasy tale with magic, good and evil and pet battle lions. Simplistic.

The first book in a new five-part series, Era is about two teenagers, Prince Emmett and Elaine the gardener, who are thrown together by fate in the midst of a military attack on their home kingdom, the Lilac Kingdom. They end up on a quest to avenge their home, traveling blindly in search of their attackers, the Durus Kingdom. The two travel through the Divided Forest where they encounter magic that they have never known before both within the forest and within themselves. Fans of the Twilight series, the Harry Potter series, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe series will enjoy Era, a fresh new fantasy journey by a young author that wrestles with some of today's majors issues like terrorism, travel, community structure, and spirituality.

I really liked this! It was a very good book for such a young author! (17) And I cannot wait for the next on in the series! Although the book could have done with a bit more tragedy, it was very good, and I totally recommend it!

A very admirable first novel from a very young author. The literary equivalent of comfort food.
