Tyson Winthorpe has been kept under lock and key. Fed blatant lies her entire life. As deadly as the consequences may be, she knows the only way to get answers is by competing in The Tournament. Finding a to compete should have been the hardest part, but she quickly realizes five men may stand in the way of both her answers and her victory. Maddox, Colt, Carver, Xander, and Adan—as intriguing as they are frustrating.
One Company man, one love-struck man on a mission, one cold and calculating, one manipulative and deadly, and her best friend—a face she knew she would see on The Tournament grounds as soon as he was chosen.
They are all fighting their own fight, for all their own reasons, but the goal is the same: Survive The Tournament. Learn their secrets.
One hundred competitors enter. Only two will exit.
And now I’m irritated it’s over and I have to wait for book two.
This Dystopian WhyChoose Romance brought out every reaction from me. From laughter to devastation, I was all over the place.
Without getting too political, this book intrigued me for a lot of reasons, many of which tie into the current political climate in the U.S. and the personal beliefs I’ve held since I was a kid about our country’s history and the way it continues to operate. The Company is undeniably corrupt. A well-oiled machine of dehumanization, where trauma is reduced to nothing more than a spectacle all for the sake of making the U.S the most elite nation.
All of the characters, even side characters, evoked different emotions from me. I was never once bored or felt like the MMCs were similar to one another. I’m also obsessed with the varying ages and how mature the group was, especially knowing their circumstances certainly called for it.
Tyson, I love how you were innocent but not naive. And I respect that if you want answers, your plan is to get them at whatever cost. I absolutely love how protective you are over your found family.
Maddox, bruh, I’m toxic af, so you had me immediately. And I don’t care what dirty you’ve done, I still want you.
Xander, I’m try’n to have you whisper in my ear.
Carver, lowkey want to just hug you.
Adan, I was worried you were going to be basic as hell but you did not disappoint. Thank you for respecting her choice to choose. Thank you for valuing friendship.
Colt. Colt. Colt. I know if I don’t have nothing nice to say, I’m not supposed to say anything at all but… quit being a little cry baby b!tch baby and grow a spine.
All in all, definite five star review in plot, characters, and the WhyChoose development.
The first half of the book had me hooked. After the second half, it created more questions than answers. I found parts of the story a bit random/out of place, particularly the “sharing” of Tyson. I would have enjoyed a bit more drama with the men. The end was very abrupt and had me questioning if I was missing a few chapters... Overall it needed more storytelling during The Tournament since most of it was Tyson being injured for weeks at a time. I went into this book extremely excited to finally find something similar to The Hunger Games, but overall it was very average
I’ve been looking for adult Dystopian romance books for awhile now and this one did not disappoint! It has everything you could ever want in a book… think Hunger Games with spice for adults!
This book was good, but I wish there would have been more dialogue. I'm not gunna lie, I mainly skim read a majority of this book. I'd say this book is more plot driven than character driven. But the dang cliffhanger ending! Really?! I need book 2 ASAP!
Ummm I thought i was starting to like it halfway then it got so weird The only character I liked was Maddox and he’s not even supposed to be likable And wtf was the ending
