Ultimately,Ebony had been Left for Dead. In this horrifying first-hand account of a survivor, Ms. Canion delivers a riveting story about overcoming tragedy throughout her childhood, and developing the will to live after numerous attacks on her life. Her strength to learn to walk, talk, and eat again will leave you spellbound and inspired. Her scars tell a story that must be heard and will have you never wanting to complain again.
This book was an eye opener. I read this book in one day. This book is an inspiration to anyone who has been through some trials and tribulations in life. Seek God in all things and he will never leave nor forsake you. Read this book I promise you won't be disappointed. This woman tells her story and shares her own personal downfalls, hard times and mishaps, her story has opened my eyes. A real tear jerker.
This was all I wanted for Christmas and I screamed when I got it. You think you've been through hell until you read someone else's story. Ebony's life had so many downs. So many hurts, trials, and tribulations yet she is not treating herself like a victim. She has lost so many people she loved, been molested, been raped, been beaten in ways I could only imagine, nearly lost her life, and to top it off justice was not served. She, along with her family are strong. I love how they support one another because lots of people can't call on not one family member in a time of need. I thought I would be reading about the hit and run but was surprised to see it was about more than that. She shared so much and it is her testimony and she is still working to recover fully from being hit and dragged by a car. Each chapter begins with a life lesson and I loved each one. Great read.
This true story was inspiring to me. Ebony will take you on a walk through her life's journey. I really loved this book. If you are looking for a great book to read I highly recommend this book.
This book is a must read for anyone who has suffered a traumatic accident or has a loved one who has. In 2005 I was in a car accident which left me disabled and have struggled physically and emotionally every since, but reading Ebony's story has encouraged me to keep believing God for my complete healing!
This book was an excellent read, but I really struggled to finish it. I was so emotional reading about the authors real life events. Some of them, I could truly identify with and some, I can only thank God for giving her the strength to endure.
Prepare yourself for some true heart breaking real life situations. May God Bless you and your family!!!
Excellent book well written, loved the characters and was also a page turner. I think this book should have a sequel. Any women that has been abused should read this book. It would also be go for a church book club. One of the best books I've read in a long time.
I cannot begin to imagine going through all this woman has gone through. Her spirit is amazing and I enjoyed reading her account of surviving all she had been through. To hell and back and still she shines. This was a very powerful story of healing, forgiveness, faith and perseverance that can help show lots of women that there is light at the end of the tunnel if you allow it.
I knew once I started, I would not be able to put it down. Such a powerful true story. I appreciate how Eboni shared her heart and soul, the heart break, the down and dirty that many do not want to reveal. I am speechless at the horrible crimes, the shear disregard that some have for a human being. Powerful. I am so glad that God saw fit to spare her life. Her testimony will bless millions.
This book is a true story and I loved it. She told her life struggles and how she grew stronger. This book is very inspirational because she went threw so much and overcommed it all. It was very sad at some points and I'm proud of her that she's getting better. And still working today to get better. I really wish to meet her one day.
I follow Ebony on Instagram and I'm amazed at her beautiful spirit then to hear her whole story all I can say Wow What A Journey and What a Blessed Woman she is. May God continue to bless her and her family as she WALKS into her Purpose
Mind blowing! Left For Dead is a cautionary story that warns of how our actions can lead down a path of darkness...however our faith in God leads us to forgiveness!
At first I didn't realize this was a true story. This girl has been through some stuff. While a lot of it could have been prevented, she made some horrible choices a d choose not to do anything with her life other then have baby after baby. It was hard for me to feel any sorrow for her on those issues. It's up to u to turn ur life around, u don't get to have a pity party, there r others who r far worst off but they end up going back to school to make a better life for their children. She chose not to. Instead she wanted to party and drink and sell drugs. I wonder had she not had the accident would she still be doing the same things. What she needed was counseling and to open her mouth about being molested and rape instead she chose to self destruct. She stayed with a man who beat her, that's not being a good mother. I can speak on it because I have been there, hell I been through worst but I didn't self destruct. I did something about it and made something of myself. I have no tolerance or pity for weak people. She was weak and pathetic. Now I feel very sorry for her about the accident, that was horrific. My heart goes out to her and her family. It's sad the judicial system failed her. It's sad that this woman almost killed her and showed no remorse. She should be ashamed of herself and her family should be ashamed of themselves. Her lawyer could have rejected the plea. The judge should be ashamed and taken off the bench. She should have wrote that judge a letter and went to the media again. But once again she backed down and was weak. I am glad she survives and is getting better. I truly hope s he has gotten herself together and off welfare and went back to school. She wanted to b a lawyer, her accident and how the judicial system did her should be her motivation.
Author Ebony Canion shares an open and honest account of her life from her childhood to adulthood and the tumultuous trials and tribulations in Left for Dead.
Ebony's story of being molested as a child and the effects it had on her as she grew older is not uncommon from other girls who had also been abused in this way by falling I to promiscuity and other things as a result. Neither was it the tragic loss to death of family members and losing her husband at an early age while raising two children with one on the way, but it is that thread of strength that even she herself was not aware of that undoubtedly God had placed inside of her.
It appeared that at the most pivotal moment of Ebony's life, she made a decision that changed her life and the lives of those who love her forever when she was literally mowed down by a car and left for dead. The injuries she sustained said Ebony should not be alive today, much less walk and talk, but God.
Left for Dead is a book that allows the love of God to shine through, not because of who we are, but because of Who He Is. Choices have life-altering consequences, yet God has a way of turning what should kill us into a blessing not only for ourselves, but for countless others.
I enjoyed reading Left for Dead because of the transparency of the author, and the lessons of lev and forgiveness. I recommend this book to everyone.
This woman went through a LOT. She watched her mother get abused. She was molested by one of her mothers boyfriends. Raped by a man at her aunts party. Jumped by rival gang members. Married her "high school" sweet heart and had 2 children, before he was killed in a car accident. Fell in love with a physically abusive man and had child number 3. Fell in love again with her first husbands best friend and had baby number four, but that relationship didn't work out. And this is just the tragedy in HER life. But there is tragedy all around her.
During this last relationship, he (Shannon) helped her with her self-esteem, helped her start a blog about her life, brought thoughts of becoming entrepreneur. Just when she felt everything was in place, she had to deal with the possibility of death.
Ebony Canion has really endured some stuff. I really enjoyed reading her life's journey and how she overcame obstacles she faced and drew closer to God. She didn't make smart choices when she should have or could have but we all have that testimony. I really admire her for the strength she had to keep going when she was left for dead. I really believe God knows who can handle certain situations. I don't know if I would've persevered! She is truly a living testimony that Yes You Can survive with God on your side!
Growing up in Cleveland at the same time as this author I can totally relate to every aspect of her story. This book has not only helped me to understand but to also remember my path of how my life has played out. I appreciate her self honesty and openness. Thanks for such a great read Ebony, and I wish you all the Blessings you so greatly deserve. I am working towards having the peace and strong self-esteem that you possess. Keep God at the head of your life and continue to love yourself.
I loved this book because, being only 16, it has given me a lot of insight on life and taught me things I need to know about the ups and downs of life and that even though we go through some things there is a man named God who will give us all the strength we need and he never puts us through situations that he knows we can't handle. Ms. Ebony is the true definition of a strong woman !
From the outset, Canion lays bare the traumatic events of her life, including abusive relationships and near-death experiences. Through vivid storytelling, she leads readers through the darkest moments of her past, navigating fear, doubt, and uncertainty with unwavering determination.
As the narrative unfolds, Canion's journey of self-discovery and healing emerges as a beacon of hope and inspiration. Despite facing unimaginable challenges, she refuses to be defined by her circumstances, choosing instead to rise above them. Canion's authentic voice and empowering message resonate deeply, offering solace and encouragement to anyone grappling with adversity. The book ultimately stands as a testament to the indomitable human spirit, reminding us that even in our darkest hours, there is always the possibility of redemption and triumph.
Im 15 now I read this book when I was 14 I was amazed by what I read, by the way people can be so heart less to do such a thing. It hurt me reading about all the things those people did to you. The way they left you and had the nerve to look you in your face it hurts but I knew it hurt you more having to be the person it happen to. It was a big eye opener for me to be a younger person reading your book. I thank you for sharing your life story with the world.
Was a very good book and just unbelievable the struggle this poor woman went through. She is an amazing woman. A story of survival and the will to live.
Upon reading this, it justified my beliefs that not only is God is an awesome God, He is the one who would never turn His back on you even your darkest times... This book is not only a awesome read but a book that when life throws u lemons make it lemonade..God got ur back and only He can make the final call, you r going thru what He gave u is show u and tell of ur tribulations..Before others put ur God first and then work on u!!! God bless u Ebony Canion for wonderful message and this great book! Most definitely an excellent read!!
Although the writing was a little crude the fact that this was a true story made for an interesting read. The author said she dropped out in the 9th grade and you can tell from the text although she never says if/when she returned to school. I know all content couldn't be added but it seemed like there were gaps left. I would still recommend it to a younger reader looking for an inspirational story.
this book is sad and interesting. she is a very strong woman and I can not believe that woman ran her over with a car like that. my god. I can not imagine the pain she was in and continue to be in. she is highly courageous for sharing her story and letting the world know her like that. I have much respect for her for this. thank you very much.
This book truly inspired me! Ebony went through HELL but GOD was there every step of the way. This is a must read book! Looking at her pictures you have to know that GOD was the only one to bring her through!!
Ebony's story is a life lesson that should be read by both young and old alike. There are many life lessons to be learned from reading Ebony's story. Kudos to her for her transparency and willingness to share her experiences with the public.
This was a personal story about the life of a woman who suffers many tragedies throughout her life. Interesting to read how she has gone through so much and still trying to have her story be heard to help others that go through similar struggles as her.
