Big Girls Do It Better
Gorgeous, rock-star guys like Chase Delany don't go for girls like me. They go for supermodels and actresses, skinny-girls who never eat and spend all day working out. I'm not that girl. So when he locked his fiery brown eyes on me for the first time, I couldn't quite believe it was really happening to me.

It was the second night I spent with him that I'll never forget.

The Long Drive Home (bonus short story)

Big Girls Do It Wetter
Chase went to New York...without me. It was only one night, one delicious, sinful night, but it awakened something within me, and now, with him gone, I have no one to satiate my sudden, ferocious hunger. Then I woke up one day and looked at someone near and dear to me in a whole new light. And my world was rocked once again.

I'm going. Going to New York City to be with gorgeous, mysterious, rockstar Chase Delany seemed like a crazy dream, a fantasy come true. The bright lights and music, and his tight, sexy leather pants called to me...and I answered. Chase might want more and I just might give it to him, if I could only forget what I started with Jeff back in Detroit.

I thought I had my love life all figured out, I thought I knew what I wanted, and then things went and changed on me all over again...

I guess I am reading the wrong books. I went into this book, well, series of books offered up all in one package, with an open mind. The Big Girls Do It boxed set sounded like something I could really enjoy. A story of female empowerment, of women who may be on the ‘fluffy’ side, but who stood up for themselves and accepted who they were, and didn’t let anyone hold them back.

Doy.

Can I get any dumber? Instead of a good tale, these are, once again, 95 pages of sex scenes and a page of story. Not all that unusual in today’s book market, but deeply boring if truth be told. It seems that this style of “writing” follows a simplistic formula that focuses on the hinky rather than having any real storyline. Don’t get me wrong, I like a little warmth to my stories if that is something that is integral to a storyline, but having the characters going at it like monkeys in filthy alleys on second meeting? Uh, has anyone ever heard of self-respect? Uck.

There was a positive story that could have been written here. The main character, Anna, is a big girl but is actually quite beautiful. She is bright, creative, and capable, but she has also been drug down by men who treat her like dirt because she isn’t a size zero. Well, that is to be expected, but she has the strength to carry it off.

And then, of course, she is swept off her feet by Chase, a ‘hunk’ rock-star. She falls into an alley with him, then into bed, and then watches as he moves to New York to follow his singing career with his band. Disappointed, Anna finally sees the truly nice guy she has worked with as a DJ for six years, Jeff, and they start what appears to be a sound and healthy relationship.

And then, of course, the pretty-boy-rock-star comes back into play, and all bets are off. Of course, in this sort of book, the whole idea seems to be for the woman to ‘tame the bad guy’ so she runs off to New York leaving the nice guy in the lurch. No wonder guys complain that women don’t really want a good guy – women apparently show them that at every turn! Of course, when the pretty boy does exactly what one would expect him to do, Anna runs back and flings herself into the good guys arms again…. Until the naughty boy comes back, and of course she is dying to “give him a chance to explain.” Draw your own pictures. All in all? Anna the user. Anna the whiner. Anna the emotional misogynist. Yes, she has been hurt, but she seems to be determined to make sure that she hurts herself over and over again, following around after the guy that will definitely hurt her while bashing away at the one who never would. And Anna’s friend, who of course thinks she should “give the bad boy another chance” no matter what was happening in that alley, right? Gag.

For all the hopes that one might find a book where “imperfect” women have strong self esteem, this is still just another story about a big woman allowing herself to be used – and her big friend pushing her to accept what she can get from the ‘bad boy,’ including kinky sex and closing her eyes to alley hook-ups with multiple women, instead of focusing on the true love and affection of someone who really cares. Wow, thanks author for that little bon mot…

I just hope that, at some point I can find a romantic series that shows women who are more interested in a real, solid, loving relationship than in whips, blindfolds, and men who will never, stick around without cheating at every opportunity. This certainly isn’t it and that is just sad. Again.

Overall 3.5 - 4 stars

Book 1 - Big Girls Do It Better - 3 stars - My review.

Book 1.5 - The Long Drive Home - 5 stars
This box set contains a bonus short story, The Long Drive Home.
It is only a couple of pages, following Anna’s way home from Chase, and all of her whirling, fervent thoughts about everything that had happened between them.
Hot sex. That term bugs me. I mean, who thinks of sex in terms of anything other than hotness? If it’s lukewarm sex, it’s probably only happening once. If it’s cold sex, then it’s probably not even getting finished.

She is practically running away: she is panicked by the intensity of her feelings, and flounders between disbelief and longing. She relives the perfection of the night, and is bathing a little in self-pity.
Of course, the morning after a hook-up, no one is attractive. Of course, you wouldn’t be there so he’d have the luxury of relying solely on his memory rather than facts, whereas you got a good look at Mr. One Night Stand while he was sleeping and you know he wasn’t as hot as when you were half-drunk.

Well, I think her picture of him is not entirely real as well: maybe she illuminates Chase too, and feels things that maybe don’t really exist.

The Long Drive Home is really well-written and credible: as she recalls her bad experiences from the past, her sadness, doubts, frustration, disappointment, loneliness, and also her desires, and amazement.
So Chase and I didn't have hot sex. No, we had earth-shaking sex. Universe altering sex. Life-changing sex.

5 stars from me!

Book 2 - Big Girls Do It Wetter - 3 stars - My review.

Book 3 - Big Girls Do It Wilder - 2 stars - My review.

Book 4 - Big Girls Do It On Top - 4 stars - My review.

I was honestly looking for a 'very' light read (actually a romantic-comedy-chick-lit) because I've been reading a lot of intense military romance novels lately.

These books took me totally by surprise.

The really liked the author's voice in these books. She touches on the prejudices and the 'judgements' that is often put on bigger women, and also the insecurities and low-self esteem that women who are a little bit more 'curvy' than what society deems appropriate tend to have.

I absolutely LOVED when Anna realized her Inner-Goddess. She became empowered and even more beautiful because there was self acceptance, strength, and confidence.

The reader can really relate to what Anna was feeling and going through.

Really enjoyed the writing, story, and characters!

Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

The Big Girls Do It Boxed Set is FANTASTIC and FREE! Big Girls' is a witty, smart and totally sexy series of short stories about a voluptuous woman named Anna. Anna is an amazingly realistic female character that every woman on this planet can relate to. Anna is not stick thin and has insecurities just like all of us. This story will resonate with women on a very personal level, and is wonderfully honest.

After a steamy night with a stranger, who is BTW also a sexy rocker, Anna's head is spinning and an awakening has begun. A man who loves a curvier woman, this is something new and miraculous to Anna. Chase has unleashed Anna's inner goddess. With a new found confidence and determination to see where life can lead her, Anna begins to explore a romantic relationship she never even considered before. Her journey is not without heartbreak, omissions of truth, and sadness, however it is also full of emotion, tingle inducing passages, realism, and characters you will love. This series is every woman's must read.

This is a fantastic series of stories, I will be reading all of the rest in short order.

I thought I was going to love this boxed set but I didn't. The erotic aspect was average, but what really irritated me was the whole "I'm a big girl and I don't love myself until a man validates my sexiness" idea. It's been done and it doesn't do anything for me.
I wanted to read about a big girl with high self-esteem, who loved herself despite what other's think, but that's not what I got. The fact that Chase is this super stud that is immediately attracted to Anna, to the point that she gives a BJ right after meeting him is a little far-fetched. Then after sexing her up, he turns her into this sex goddess who has to have it and now has the confidence to go after anyone. Yet, she chooses her DJ.
Thankfully, it's a quick read. It's not bad, but I wish the author didn't turn me off with Anna's attitude.

I am really split with this series.
On the one hand, it is well-structured and well written. The author certainly knows her craft.

But on the other, it was such a tired trope that I felt I could almost write the next pages before I turned them.

I fully accept that, if you're new to erotica, then these are new themes, new experiences, but for many, the dreaded 'been there - done that' takes you away from what is, in all respects a good read.

I must declare an interest - I also write a plus-size series and I have striven to be as honest as possible.

IN SHORT - I like Jasinda's style and ability and will almost certainly try her out again. Maybe I just picked an early series, or they were written for a specific purpose. Whatever the reason. She gets a 4.5 from me for style and ability, but a lot less for taking the easy 'plus-size' route.

I am so grateful that this was not my first exposure to Jasinda Wilder because this series is not at all representative of how talented she is. Basically, the first 48% of book #1 is about an insecure BBW who suddenly finds herself having sex with two different men. The entirety of this first half is a compilation of all of the sex she encounters, with no meaningful plot or storyline.
It’s not until book #3 that we get ANY background/history on the main character. At some points, there are hints of a steamy love triangle building, but that fizzles out real quickly, leaving us with a basic friends to lovers story that is mostly sex. Long story short: if you are the kind of person who fast forwards through the six scenes, you won’t be listening to very much!!! The only reason I listen to all of this was because I kept waiting for the impressive side of J. Wilder to come through, but she never did.

The plot was great, and the characters interesting, my problem with the series is that it seems to want to label itself as a feminist body image self love anthem of sorts. Yet it doesn't meet the bechdel test standard, while most romance novels do not meet that standard they also don't claim to promote body positivity either. The other thing that bothers me is that it is very poorly edited. I had high hopes for this series, and though the I enjoyed the story immensely I couldn't rate it higher than a 3.

I actually found a book that I felt like I could actually understand the character. I loved this store, there was one point that I wanted to smack Anna upside the head and ask what was she thinking. I was addicted from the first page. Not gonna say I was a fan of Chase, but I loved Jeff from the beginning. I loved this quick steamy read! If you are looking for a quick read that will have you not able to sit still this is the book for you.

These are all relatively quick reads that all (yes, even #4) end in cliffhangers (with #4's possibly being the largest of them all). Each book is steamy in its own right, but they feature varying types and amounts of sex.

#1: Big Girls Do It Better
The first book in the Big Girls Do It series introduces us to Anna Divine and Chase Delaney. Anna is a woman who has accepted her body and is comfortable in it, yet still holds some insecurities about her weight. Chase is muscled, handsome, and sexy. She doesn't think there's anyway her size 18 body can compete with all of the skinny, "more attractive" vying for Chase's affections. The beauty of this first book is that Chase is able to show Anna that she truly is a beautiful, desirable woman (and a sex goddess). It features one semi-steamy scene in an alley and one completely steamy scene in his bedroom.

(Interlude) The Long Ride Home
This isn't exactly a book in and of itself, but I thought it worth mentioning (as it is there after all). This scene features Anna, you guessed it, driving home. During the drive she ponders two things. First, she describes what a typical one-night stand would look like. Second, she notes that her time with Chase was nothing at all like her description.

#2: Big Girls Do It Wetter
While Jeff, Anna's business partner and friend, is mentioned in book 1, this is where we really get to know him. Jeff is a solid, dependable man of few words. He has had feelings for Anna for years. She knows it and he knows she knows it. Now that Chase is gone and Anna's inner sex goddess has been awakened, she's starting to see Jeff in an entirely new light. Honestly, I didn't think that her getting involved with Jeff at this point in time was fair to him, but she does. There is plenty of sex in this book, more than in book 1. But where sex with Chase was a little bit wild and frantic, sex with Jeff is sweet and slow. As Anna puts it herself: "Nothing we did was was wild or kinky, just vanilla, multi-position sex, but [Jeff] rocked my world every single time."

#3: Big Girls Do It Wilder
At the end of book 2 I wasn't sure how to feel about Chase's letter. It seemed rather presumptuous, but off to New York Anna went. Getting to this book is where we can really see the differences between sex with Jeff and sex with Chase. Upon getting to NY, Anna and Chase "f**k like bunnies" (as she so eloquently puts it in book 4). Honestly, I spent most of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop. Chase, while seeming to truly care for Anna, has achieved rock star status and all that entails. In other words, he has women throwing themselves at him left and right. Needless to say, I was not at all surprised by the compromising position Anna found Chase in near the end. On two occasions Chase's wording really said it all. First is after the first show she attends where he tells the groupies he is busy tonight but has another show coming up soon and that they can find the details on the band's website. The second is in the alley when he tells the women that he doesn't want Anna to find them, seeming to indicate that his main concern is getting caught, not being faithful to Anna. While actions he might be able to explain away ("Oh, they cornered me in the alley. They were coming onto me, not the other way around." etc. etc.), his wording pretty much condemned him.

#4: Big Girls Do It on Top
This is the book where all of my concerns and fears really came to a head. Overall, Anna has put herself in a pretty cruddy position. She has feelings for two men who also appear to have feelings for her. At the end of book 3 I couldn't help but think that, considering the position she's in, I really hope she doesn't go running back to Jeff while things are still unclear with Chase (as she obviously still has feelings for him). While that's not exactly what happens and her feelings for Jeff are real and strong, it is never a smart idea to go into a relationship with one person when you still have feelings for another. This book doesn't have as much sex in it as books 2 and 3 but more than book 1. I think this book was the one that housed the most emotions, both good and bad. The cliffhanger at the end of this book is huge. Personally, I am dying to know what happens next in book 5, Big Girls Do It Married.

I actually read all of the books...and I wanted to really like it.

One of the main problems I had with this book was the chemistry between Anna and Jeff. It was like roommates who might hook up when drunk; as opposed to her chemistry with Chase which was hot, raw and intense. Chase seemed the most genuine in terms of his feelings for her and it seemed more real. Her interaction with Chase was fueled by intense passion, want and desire, lots of fun and a true expression of living out loud and embracing not just her sexuality but her beautiful nature. A hot rocker liking the big girl is not the most common, but to experience it and leave it only to choose the safe bet? Not very believable. If she wasn't ready or willing to take the risk, she should never have gotten on the plane to see him...bottom line.

Now, while I am sure the fact that the author spent so much time delving into the woes and broken nature of Jamie, Anna's roommate and best friend, was all part of a set up for the spinoff for Chase, it made it even more unbelievable. The depiction of Anna when it came to choosing who to be with came over as a "big girl" looking to be loved and willing to sleep with anyone to find it or feel close to anyone. But when it came down to it, she decided to settle for the guy who has always been there and supportive, even though she never really showed an interest in him, over the guy she clearly had an interest in, but was too afraid to be left behind by him one day for the hot skinny girl.

This series, while emotionally accurate because we all find things to doubt, went from being hot with her relationship with Chase, to being barely luke warm with her "friendly" relationship with Jeff. It did not come over as a believable relationship, but rather the one you settle for because you know it is a sure thing.

I know what happens in the Rock Star series with Chase, and honestly, it just makes me feel like Jamie wanted what Anna had and Chase wanted to be able to keep Anna in his life. I was not happy with this series since the moment Anna made the wrong choice she never corrected her mistake and left me reading a less than hot romance that was more friendly than fiery.

Speaking of no plot...

I can enjoy romance if there is an underlying story line to hold the reader's attention. Don't expect to find that in these stories. Overweight girl who makes it clear in the beginning of the first novella that she hates herself because she is overweight hooks up with a budding rock star. The pages that follow are descriptions of sex and angst because he can"t possibly love an overweight woman. Until, toward the end, the protagonist declares that at some point, after an early relationship bombed, she had learned to love herself as she is. Wait a minute, what? I am no prude, but descriptions of "hot" sex do not a book make! Descriptions of sex in wildly inappropriate locations are disgusting and embarrassing, not sexy! Were I you, I would give this one a pass.

This was the best way to start this series! Jasinda can take a reader from the highest high to the lowest low still in the same heartbeat! You will catch yourself talking to the characters and cheering them on or screaming at them to stop. You'll cry when they make mistakes and laugh when they get it right. On several occassions you'll be squirming in your seat as you're carried along in the action. Whatever you find yourself doing, it will be with this book or your e-reader in your hand because you will NOT want to put this one down! Go ahead and finish this book though because Jasinda Wilder takes care of her readers! There are more books in this series just waiting for you! Each one is more intoxicating than the last and not one of them will leave you uh... disappointed!

I'm so glad this wasn't my first exposure to Jasinda Wilder's writing because I absolutely loved the first 3 books I've read of hers before this series. I felt this entire storyline was contrived, not very believable and when I got to the end of this boxed set I found myself totally uninterested in who Anna ends up marrying. I absolutely loved that it was free and really tried to like it, I read all the way to the end but just felt it was all a bit fantastical. Also, I think this could've all been included in one story and one book instead of the novella style but I got it on amazon during a 'free' window so it worked out well. If this is your first read from this author try some of her other work as well she is an amazing writer!

I enjoyed this set of four books. It was a little spicy but the story kept me interested. It is about Anna, who is a size 18. She meets a rock star, Chase, and can't believe he would be attracted to her, but he is and they wind up spending the night together and then he leaves for nyc maybe never to come back. Anna is devastated and turns to her partner and Dj , Jeff, he loves Anna but she doesn't notice him. They start to date and get close and Anna gets a letter and ticket from Chase and runs off to New York leaving Jeff behind. You have to read this set. I was so interested I just bought Big Girls do it Married and Big Girls do it Pregnant I can't wait to read them. Isn't that what books are about keeping your interest and wanting to buy more to read. Love it

Endless sex...got boring.

Generally I wouldn't complain about endless sex but that's truly what these books were. Pages of sex then a few lines of storytelling. It's not the worst I've ever read, and many of her fans encourage readers to not judge Ms. Wilder by this series alone, so while I hated the cliffhanger at the end, and the books could use a proofreader, I won't hesitate to give this author another chance if I encounter one of her books in the future.

This set contains books 1-4 and a bonus short called The Long Drive Home (it takes places between books 1 and 2). I really enjoyed this series and I was getting a little irritated with the female lead Anna by the end but I still enjoyed and look forward to reading more books in the story. Anna meets Chase and has a one-night stand. She is a big girl and he is a super-hot up and coming rock star. She then starts seeing her best friend and partner Jeff differently because of it. They begin something but then when she receives a letter and plane ticket to go to Chase in New York she jumps on the plane and takes off. Things with Chase are hot and exciting. There are definitely sparks between them but there is also a slow burn with Jeff. When things hit a rough patch with Chase she heads back home. Confused about how she feels for both men and what she is going to do about it. After taking some time for herself she goes to Jeff to talk to him about what she has done and hopefully at least keep him as a friend. Only nothing is that simple and Jeff wants to try again. She agrees. But of course, there is a twist thrown in at the end of book four that you will have to read to know. Things are getting really messy and emotional for all three characters. Anna has big choices to make and she will need to do them soon.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in the series and seeing where things go from her.

3.5 stars...Four short stories of a contemporary erotic romance series featuring Anna, Chase, and Jeff. Anna is a big girl (her words) with a terrific voice. She attracts Chase Delaney, a bad boy rocker, who wants her, and bad. One special night of no-holds-barred sex, but then he is off to New York City.

Jeff, her partner and friend, is waiting in the wings. Suddenly, they connect, and it is phenomenal, too. How could she have ignored him all these years? Oh yeah, she didn't want to ruin a great friendship. Until...

Chase sends an airline ticket, and it is off to New York. Chase and Anna re-connect in more spicy ways, until...

And then it is back to Detroit, nursing a broken heart. Can she connect again with Jeff, or has she ruined her friendship with him? What is a sexy, beautiful woman to do when torn between two lovers? Cliffhanger ending with both men wanting to marry Anna...

Lots of spicy scenes throughout the four stories, but a bit frustrating with the teaser ending.

Big Girls Do It Book Series isn't your normal erotic romance book. I've read a few romance books and I just couldn't get through it. I'm not to sure if it was because I was to young, just didn't like to read, or it was boring. Jasinda brought on a whole new meaning to an Erotic Romance. The way she explained her characters made me feel as if I was there with them. Might sound a little off or weird, but it felt as if I was at the bar with Anna and Jeff, or in the room with Anna and Chase when they were together. These books sucked me in and I just couldn't stop reading them. I HAD to buy the next book, I HAD to wait for Jasinda to release the next book to find out what will happen next. She really does bring life to her characters and makes you fell as if you known them your whole life. Or makes you want to know them and makes you want more.

I’m finally getting around to this book a decade after receiving it for free. Initially, I didn’t realize it was erotica but it became clear when it was 90% sex. There is little to no plot until the last book. The FMC starts out constantly belittling herself for her weight and by the end she’s shifted into repeatedly self-sabotaging. It probably wouldn’t have seemed as bad if I’d read one book at a time and given myself a couple days break in between. Since I didn’t it became even more obvious that she was bed hopping between the two guys using no protection with a complete disregard for health or pregnancy. When it ended with another cliff hanger it solidified that this author is not one I will ever read again. Additionally, there were plenty of errors despite me updating to the lasted version.
