I believe the author put a lot of research into his novel. No only is it in the pov of a believable women but there are a lot of religions which are brought together for the re-telling of Adam's first wife, Lilith. There's regret, abuse, anger and the need for forgiveness that often comes afterward and Lilith has had many years to build up her regrets. Tagging along are her friends who she's saved from horrendous backgrounds as well as demons with even stranger stories to tell.
It wasn't a difficult read though it's certainly not a YA. There are many dark themes throughout, which there should be, it's about demons and their mother after all.
There is a real movie-like quality to the read. It's punched with action, dramatic dialogue and big characters with big problems. I'd give this a fat 4 out of 5 stars. I'd certainly be back for a sequel.
Great read! Very engaging and really draws you in. Not just to the legends of Lilith herself, but also of the disparate family that Gideon Hodge weaves together in all of their own turmoil and personal issues while dealing with the potential extinction of an entire race of creatures.
If you have not yet, definitely pick up this book!
Really engaging read. Takes a little to get going, but something about this surrogate family and this new take on the struggle of Lilith was captivating. In really drew me in. If you are a fan of Laurel K Hamilton or Anne Rice, I think this will be up your alley.
I've really enjoyed this story. The characters are rich and the approach to who Lilith would be today was great. The other characters fill the story in a rich weave. Room for a sequel!
