Greer Noble, author of Checkmate, Veiled Madness and My Funny Africa is a third generation white African and lives a nomadic life between Africa and Europe. An adventurer born of another era, she's a restless spirit who does not conform easily in the modern world.
Driven by her lifelong passion for the bush, she draws much from the antics of wildlife, so much so that her new title, 'My Funny Africa' is devoted entirely to the subject. Her 'joie de vivre'? Safaris into uncharted territory, diving the warm Indian Ocean waters and her fury, bossy, felines.
Writing her best at night after sundowners with her soul-mate of many years, she never grows tired of the familiar calls of the wilds, all be they imitated by her attention-seeking African Grey who refuses to believe he's a parrot.

Potent, savage, wild.. you can smell the game-trodden savannah, sense the fear, feel the hurt. The tension intensifies with each page. The erotic magnetism of opposites.. a forbidden and secret love, will leave you breathless.There's an undercurrent, a veiled madness, that cloaks the real evil as mysterious murders mount.The author skilfully draws the reader into a decadent colonial era, now a thing of the past, her passion for the wilds of Africa, forever apparent. If you have a penchant for the unpredictable you won't be disappointed. I could not put this book down.

Greer writes amazingly catchy books full of romantic suspense and mystery specific to description and gripping chapters with a lovely flow one into the other, keen to get onto the next page. I enjoyed this book which I have read and fully recommended to all readers who love romance and erotic mysteries and suspense. Looking forward to more of her lovely books.

Veiled Madness by Greer Noble.
Greer Noble has the potential to become the female‘Wilbur Smith’ of books on Southern Africa if she continues to produce books of this quality. ‘Veiled Madness’ is racy, it moves fast following the heroine through a turbulent early adulthood through brutal treatment by close ‘friends’ and callous abuse by soul-less low life to full adulthood. Her beauty, essentially caring nature and basic naivety whilst young leaves her open to all kinds of exploitation and there are many who try to exploit her. Violence is everywhere and generally from the most unexpected sources.
She suffers false love, loss of loved ones and great disappointment before meeting someone who ultimately provides her with a sense of security, stability and real love. Set largely against the backdrop of magnificently described scenery, the characters, all with their own agendas and hang-ups curdle rather than mix as their nation is torn apart by the racial violence of the ‘Bush War.’ Sanya, alone among her group comes through with a chance at normality.
‘Veiled Madness’ will be a window into the recent past for many and for those that knew Rhodesia in its latter days it will rekindle memories of many kinds. A ‘damn good read’ and an exciting one to boot.

This thriller has exciting and unexpected plot maneuvers -- enough to send the reader into a tailspin. From Chapter One, tension abounds, fueled by the greed and deviance of a couple of dishonorable characters bent on preying upon Sanya, the young heroine. The author skillfully describes Africa's scents, sounds, vistas and bush scenes with great authenticity, and the tale she tells is jam packed with tension, murder, sex and love before it reaches its surprising conclusion. Greer Noble is a master of intrigue and suspense. The heroine’s misery and suffering at the hands of two evil men as she progresses from a teenager growing up in Rhodesia to a woman is unbelievable as she is tries to escape from their clutches. I enjoyed visiting places I am familiar with and the descriptions of fauna and flora are well done as is the dialogue. The story is packed with suspense, murder, sex and love as it unfolds to an unexpected finale. Veiled Madness is an exciting, fast moving and well written book that I couldn't put down till the end. Well done.

Every good story should have heart and soul, this wonderful story is set in the heart of Africa and follows the soul named Sanya as she suffers and fights her way through life. Like the Animals in Africa hers is not an easy life, there is suffering, death but also immense joy. Take the time to emphasise with our heroine and you will be rewarded with a strong story featuring well developed characters and you may end end up with a yearning to visit Africa.

I had to read this book, the author and I being of the same country. It's a violent yet beautiful mystery. It's of a wild girl in a wild place, a protective father, his sinister partner, a stranger, a voyeur, a pilot and a mercenary, all inextricably bound together in a web of blackmail, romance and even murder. The intrigue is so intense I could not put it down.. I didn't want it to end. I'm proud to be a fellow countryman. There's only one word to describe it, 'Wow!'

Awesome, awesome book! I laughed, I cried and at times I wanted to murder a couple of characters myself!!! I've read a number of books in this genre and of this country in Africa but I can honestly hold a candle to this one. Wilbur Smith eat your heart out! I have a new favourite author. After reading some reviews comparing the book (and author) to a female Wilbur Smith, the synopsis sounded very adventurous and I bought it without hesitation. Without giving any spoilers away, various incidents early on were quite disturbing, but I thought necessary to create the background for what lay ahead for the main character. However, the story just never picked up pace or direction; it was as if multiple attempts to create a plot were started, but never finished. I continued reading hoping that at some point the reader would be surprised by a twist or revelation of some sort, but sadly, it ended without any adventure, plot, direction or even story line. It probably did not help that I expected an African adventure similar to my favourite writer and I was therefore very disappointed with the lack of a decent story. Sorry, but definitely not for me.

Greer has the ability to draw you in from page one. This is one of the most enthralling books I've ever read! It has everything; adventure, the element of surprise, murder, revenge, mystery, eroticism, romance.. you won't want to put it down.. I didn't. Everyone living in Africa will love it, everyone who's ever visited Africa will want to return and everyone who's never been to Africa will want to come. A masterpiece of intrigue and suspense.

A really good read. I found myself during the busy times of day thinking about the story and anticipating what was going to happen next, wishing I could just pick it up and read - well written and clear - sometimes I felt like I was back in Kariba all those years ago - I just loved the nostalgia it evoked - more please ! :).
