What a wonderful book!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I sat down to read, but I was delighted with what I got. Anna Black weaves a wonderful tale of a young woman who suddenly becomes a witch. I'm not talking about a practitioner of black arts or some evil person who casts spells to curse others. She's a witch who has amazing powers and draws her energy from the elements.
She uses her gifts to track down killers and bring them to justice.

WITCHed is an exciting, fun filled ride with Becca as she discovers who she is and how she came by these fascinating powers. Not to give spoilers, but there's also a little romance for those of you who like it.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by Anna Black. I highly recommend this book to people who like an exciting, fantastical journey in a modern setting.

In “WITCHed” by Anna Black, we meet Becca. She’s a young woman going about her life when she witnesses a murder. As she tries to assist the victim, something odd happens. The victim is a very powerful witch, who with her last few breaths transfers her powers to Becca. The killer wanted those powers, and now that Becca has them, she becomes the next target. There were some things I especially liked about this book. The story flowed very well. Some books are more difficult to read than others. This one was a delight to read. Effortless. I enjoyed the aspect of Becca learning her new powers. It made me think a few times of that 80’s TV show “The Greatest American Hero” where the main character stumbled upon a magical superhero costume but lost the instructions. Just like that, there is a quaint charm as she tries to learn what her powers are and how to use them. She fortunately has a guide, but it seems at first that she has to beg, borrow, and steal information on just what she has become. It’s a romance novel surely. Some romance novels come off as tacky to me, but this one hit the mark just right for my tastes. Some very cool scenarios too, such as Becca being able to change her (and others) appearances. That was really fun. Overall, I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

In Witched we met Becca coming to the aid of a stranger being attacked in an alley on her way home from work. The stranger dies in her arms and that is when the trouble starts. The stranger was a witch and when she died, she transferred her powers to Becca. From there Becca tries to solve the murder of the stranger, keep from getting killed herself, learn how to control her powers, fall in love and find an obscure prophecy before its too late.
Sounds good so far, right? So, why did I only give it three starts? Parts of the story felt like filler to me. I wanted to know more about all the characters in the book. Especially the ones that help Becca. She just accepts them at face value without even wondering if one of them may be connected to the bad guy. The romance between her and Cane was just way too easy. Within a matter of a few days they are not only sleeping together, but living together and ready to commit to each other for a lifetime? Really?
With that said, though I liked most of the book. I will be buying the next book in the series.

I read this book awhile back and had to refresh my memory by reading other reviews as to what the story was about. And after reading one, the images of the book came flooding back to me. That made me give it a five-star. After all this time, I can "see" the story. To me, that is the sign of a truly good writer, being able to write words and tell a story that conjure images in the readers mind that stay with them long after they've put the book down.

I love witch stories. In this one, Becca becomes a witch unsuspectedly. She takes the twists and turns that come with her new identity well, and pushes forward. I was sorry that her original guardian died, but it didn't take away anything from the story for me. I'd read another book by this author. I highly recommend this book.

On her way home from work Becca witnesses a murder, while the lady is dying in her arms, she gives Becca her powers and tells her to find Patrick. One of the officers to come on scene is Cane. She cant explain to the cops what she saw completely but it keeps throwing her together with Cane. Come to find out the witch that died is her great grandmother, and because of the powers someone is trying to kill her. This is a page turner that makes you want to read more!!

A great read!!

WITCHed is a unique and entertaining book. I read this book on the recommendation of a friend, and I'm glad I did. This book will draw you in and keep you guessing through out the book. Black does a good job of making you feel things through Becca( female lead character). It's definitely a must read. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
