Strong Winds from Nowhere is the story of Tasha, who is banished at the age of ten to eternal exile by the people of her village for being too beautiful. Along with Ceyon, her guide and teacher, Tasha heads to the vast expanse of nowhere in search of freedom, truth, and friendship. On her journey, she meets the Shohonks, a mysterious people who capture her heart through their clear sight and immense powers. Gradually she discovers that under their impeccable facade lurks a dark and frightening shadow that consumes people’s hopes and aspirations; and Tasha decides to face this shadow, despite the personal prices. Strong Winds from Nowhere is an empowering story of change, bravery, and the triumph of free spirit. It is a combination of fantasy and wisdom, filled with depth and layers, yet simple and intimate in language, keeping the readers close to their heartbeats, close to their hearts.
Strong Winds From Nowhere is poetically philosophical, beautifully written. I loved Tasha’s journey to self discovery because who isn’t on a road to finding themselves? I likened this book to The Little Prince as it is penned with wisdom all the while being poetic in it’s own way. Those who are looking for a newer feel on literature will enjoy this book.
For me I love the mysteriousness of the characters and the setting. I could never really put my finger on when the story took place. The elusiveness of the setting aided to my page turning as I craved more details to put the puzzle together. All the characters are soulfully developed making them relatable and likable. I don’t think there wasn’t a character I didn’t enjoy or wanted to know more about. Of course the heroine, Tasha, captured my heart. Her bravery and beauty runs deep within herself and the story.
My only criticism is the love story written into this book. I would have loved to see more of an interaction between Tasha and Ian. But this criticism comes from someone who loves a good love story. With this book being the first in a series, I am sure the love story will develop in the next book. I’m very much looking forward to reading the next one.
Wonderful, interesting, thought provoking, delightful, and soul searching. I’m sitting here waiting anxiously for book two and looking forward to reading this to my daughter one day.
