TEMPT (a Take It Off novel) ***This is a new adult contemporary novel and contains sexual content and graphic language. It is not intended for young adult readers.*** Stranded and alone with not one, but two wickedly enticing men. Ava arrives at the airport, expecting to board a commercial flight to Puerto Rico. But a plane ticket isn't waiting for her. Instead, she finds a guy with dark curly hair wearing seriously ratty jeans and holding a sign with her name on it. He may not look like a pilot, but he is. And he's her ride. So now it's just Nash and her on a tiny tin can of a plane flying over the Atlantic. When a thunderstorm comes out of nowhere, it proves to be too much for the little aircraft. Ava and Nash plunge from the sky and end up on an uncharted deserted island. Stranded. As if that isn't bad enough, Ava starts to desire more than just rescue-hunger for more than food. Nash is only too happy to oblige... but it seems they might not be as alone as they thought. And Nash might have some competition in claiming Ava's body... and her heart.

This was another okay NA contemporary romance, but once again it was a bit cliché.
Ava and Nash were both alright characters. They seemed to cope with being stranded on a desert island fairly well, and seemed to look out for each other when they needed to.
I felt like this story was quite cliché – stranded on a desert island with a gorgeous hunk, she’s inexperienced so he teaches her all about sex, then there’s a miraculous rescue. I didn’t feel like there was really anything new or exciting in here really. The romance wasn’t too bad, and the sex scenes weren’t too bad, I didn’t feel involved in the relationship at all though, and the weird dreams of having a threesome that Ava had were a little odd.
The ending to this was alright, but again it felt a little cliché. So far the books of this series have all been very similar. 6 out of 10
Yowza! What do you get when you strand two people on a supposedly deserted island? Two people with a ton of chemistry between them and they are forced to rely upon each other, trust each other? Well, you get a whole lot of temptation, is what you get. Tempt is the third book in Cambria Hebert's Take it Off series. As per usual with Cambria's books, I loved it. I loved the writing, the plot that had me second guessing myself constantly, the characters, even Ava's dreams!
Going into this book I wasn't actually sure I wanted to read it, even though it's a CH book. Why? Because I don't like love triangles at all. There are some situations where I will read them, but typically I'm just not for them. This book is a complete exception for me. So I'm going to clear things up and state that Tempt does have an HEA, and it's written mainly from Ava's point of view.
Ava is an interesting character to me. I enjoyed her personality, and her will to just not give up. She's definitely a fighter. Right off the bat, the book starts out with you reading her dreams. It basically sets the book up and the plot line for what you think is going to happen or go down. Her first impression of Nash made me chuckle a fair bit because she was just like, "Wait, you're joking right? You're my pilot? You call that a plane!?". She's definitely amusing.
Nash is of course, the pilot who doesn't look like a pilot. The guy that sprinkles his English with a faint Spanish accent and peppers it with Spanish. Enough to make you fan your face. He's sure of himself, but not in a cocky way. Protective, charming, and somehow manages to keep a cool head and not kill them both. As a hero, I liked the guy and like Ava, he kept me on my toes.
These two have chemistry from the get go, but its not overt. It's more of a "Oh, he's good looking." You know, as in, you notice it but you're not falling over about it. There is no insta-love here or insta-lust. I'd call it more of a slow build and after their plane crashes and they are thrown together, they aren't exactly thinking of romancing each other. It's more how do we survive. What they go through on the island brings them closer though, and they find themselves falling for each other over shared protein bars.
All is not as it seems though, because they have to go through a whole many obstacles on the island before they are rescued.
Final thoughts on Tempt? I'd say read it, it's a relatively short, fast read, but still with a good enough plot to keep you entertained. For me, it's a five star! I loved the twists in it.
The last thing Ava expects when traveling with her grandmother’s ashes is for her plane to crash. Not to mention Ava’s pilot is out of this world hot and nothing like she expected. In fact Ava expected more than a tiny sardine-can resembling plane, so she’s not too shocked when they go down even if she is shocked and scared out of her mind.
Somehow Nash and Ava survive the crash. Finding themselves stranded on an island isn’t too horrible considering together they are able to create a island oasis for themselves. The two explore the island and are shocked when they come across another person living on the island. Only for them they don’t know how long he’s been there or really how he’s even survived so long.
Even worse for Nash is when this newcomer is showing feelings for Ava. Feelings she is none to shyly reciprocating. The three struggle to survive together on the island, finding shelter, food and clean water. What Nash and Ava never expect is for their newfound friend to be hiding a secret.
As with the other books in the series, Tempt is not short on suspense and intrigue. As soon Ava and Nash crash, their worlds are turned upside down. Together they have the power to stay alive, even if they have to fight to the bitter end to do so.
Overall another hit for Cambria Hebert. Not to mention there is nothing more romantic than being stranded on an island with a hot capable guy. Given no one dies of course… I really loved this story line and characters. The plot was not something that is typically done but I enjoyed every bit from start to finish. I would certainly recommend to fans of NA, this series or a quick and fun read.
******2021 Review***** As one of many stranded on a deserted island reads I've read recently this one was pretty good. There is an added suspense/danger element that made things exciting given you are as clueless as the characters. It had been like 7 years since I read this and I remembered nothing which was nice as it was all new and fresh. I liked the concept of there being two men but I didn't love the execution, especially the heroine constantly thinking of them both but really only wanting/being with Nash. I'm all for some menage but that's just not what this was and the blurb had my naughty little hopes up lol. I wish the story was dragged out a bit more. It's hard to imagine falling so deeply for someone after only knowing one another a week or so. Not to mention I love the idea of having to survive amongst the elements and as their time here was rather limited there wasn't much of a threat to the characters starving or worse. Then again there are pirates so things are not all hunky dory on their island paradise. Cute read.
DNF @ 40% - so I’m not really a big love triangle hater… but this ain’t how you do it. Nash was a good guy who had been nothing but dreamy. Definitely not the sort of guy you’d want to have to compete with some rando creepy dude. Maybe if he’d been an ass to the h, this would have worked. But he was a legit dreamboat. And the heroine was rapidly falling in love, for good reason. So, this made the heroine’s immediate horny reactions to the newcomer weird and cringy. All of the sudden the hero is a “douche” and she’s creaming her panties for the new guy. 😵💫
I’m not impressed.

Fast-paced and very short, this felt too rushed...but still it was a nice change of pace from the heavy on the angst NA Romance book I just finished. This is part of Cambria Hebert's Take It Off series, and though this is the weakest of them, I still recommend reading Text and Tempt which are my faves. And it's worth mentioning that it's impossible not to compare this book to On the Island by Tracy Garvis-Graves, which is insanely brilliant, in my most humble opinion.
When Ava Malone is tasked with taking her grandmother's ashes to be scattered in Puerto Rico, she doesn't expect to be alone on a ragged private plane with an equally scruffy pilot. Turns out the pilot, Nash Prescott, is the son of her grandmother's best friend, and has flown from Puerto Rico to escort Ava and her grandmother's ashes back. Until a sudden storm comes up, causing their plane to crash, depositing them on a seemingly (but not really) deserted island.
So, today I read two books about a couple of people from different parts of the world (both with one from the U.S., the other from a Caribbean island) stranded on a desert island after a plane crash. This is definitely the better one. In fact, given the poor quality of most stranded on a deserted island books, this one is practically Shakespeare. I'm not sure why it's rating isn't higher on Goodreads.
This book has interesting characters (I love Ava's internal monologues), two people with a legitimate reason to be on a small plane and a reason for them to crash. Plus, this book has external stressors (not just the strain of trying to survive). I think it's actually a pretty good romance novel.
So another great book but with a twist. Right from the start you fall in love with Nash and then when he tries to save her while whispering to her in Spanish your heart melts a bit.
Loved the idea of this book but there were a few things that weren't for me. Part of it was my logical brain not computing with the situation. Like what about toothpaste? There was a lot of kissing with no toothpaste and where are these infamous birth control pills?? Sometimes when things aren't logical my brain rejects the notion.
With Ava I wanted her to be so enthralled with Nash and I didn't love the Duke story so much. I get why it was there and for others they will love it but it just wasn't for me.
In the end, loved Nash, love the idea of the story, love this series, this one just wasn't my fave out of the three so far and I can't friggin wait for November when text comes out! *squee*
Oh, dear lord! Can Cambria Hebert's books get any hotter?! I have completely fallen in love with this series! It is one of my absolute favourites! It continually blows me away and Tempt is no exception! I had been desperate to read this book since I first read the synopsis! I mean who wouldn't want to be stuck on a desert island with a smoking hot guy? So, it's fair to say the synopsis sucked me right in! And then I saw the cover! Can I say hot? The plot of this book was also amazing and completely lived up to my expectations of it from the synopsis! I completely adored the plot! I was sucked right into it from the first page! I also loved the twists that were added as they made the story so much more interesting! The plot was fast paced and had quite a lot of action in it! It's like huge adrenaline rush while you read it! I also didn't want to put this book down and I nearly read it in one sitting! I was eventually able to pry it out of my hands to go to sleep lol! The characters were also amazing! Ava was the main character and I loved her! As I was reading this book though, I kind of wanted her to start to maybe try and take care of herself as her love interest seemed to take care of everything, but then Ava told her love interest to let her start to take care of herself which I loved! Ava was a character that I connected really well with! She was just a normal person placed in a really tough situation! I loved Ava's progress in this book as she grew so much! She was able to learn more about herself as well! Nash was the love interest of Ava and he was smoking hot! He can rescue me any day of the week! I loved how protective Nash was of Ava and also how much he was willing to risk his life in order to keep her safe! Nash was a character that just oozed sex appeal! He definitely makes it onto my book boyfriends list! There were a couple of other characters in this book as well and I can't really mention them or talk about them as if I do then I will rattle on and will probably reveal a teaser which will end up ruining the story for you lol! But these characters do add a lot to the story! There was also even a sort of love triangle in this book! This may or may not reveal a spoiler, but the synopsis does mention it! This love triangle was admittedly pretty damn hot, but I was happy that it didn't last for the full length of the book! I'm seriously looking forward to reading the next book in this series! I know that it's going to be about different characters and have a completely different plot, but judging from the synopsis it's going to be epic! The cover for this book is seriously hot! It suits the book, the characters, everything! I love it! I won an ebook of Tempt from a giveaway from the author, so I'd like to say a big thank you to Cambria for my ebook!
*****Review by Gladys #XOXOtheNerdGirl #NerdGirlOfficial*****
We do often judge a book by its cover don't we! (In this case, I love the actual cover of the book although I picture Nash with sexier hair! Oh and I picture a cute Filipino version of Ava underneath him - Ha... I sure do love to insert myself in there don't I) Anyway back to the saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover!" Ava did didn't she?
When she saw Nash she was very sketical about allowing him to pilot her to her grandmother's final restring place. She didn't think that Nash had anything special about him to pilot that hunk of junk he called a plane, nor did she think he could save her from the what happened on the island or the hurt she went through in the past.
They did share a few things in common, their love for her grandmother (his was more of a respect for the women his own grandmother loved), their zest for life and their mutual desire to survive. The last two things grew exponentially when they realized there were more dangerous things on the island to worry about.
I was totally lost in this book. It was suspenseful, captivating and took such an interesting turn in the middle of the book that I couldn't tear myself away from reading it.
I am a fan of Cambria because of her paranormal young adult series but have totally fallen in love with her new adult series as well. Her transition into this genre is seamless and very well done. Again! I tip my Nerd Girl hat to you Mrs. Herbert! #AwesomeSauce Indeed
Not that I was specifically waiting to hate one of her books, mind you. I'd rather like the books rather than them be a waste of money but ever since I've become addicted to whatever Hebert writes I have this niggling suspicion in the back of my head that I should probably hate them. They're awfully cheesy and hopelessly predictable. And I'm sighing and shaking my head in disappointment and then WHAM! the author throws in a curveball I did not see coming and I'm suddenly lapping up everything she puts forth.
That did not happen in this book. It was hopelessly bad and tiringly mundane since the every beginning. It had instalove and an awfully stupid love triangle - the banes of my reading existence - and a fully unsatisfying and idiotic ending.
I did not understand HOW and WHY did anyone fall in love with anyone and why pirates were given so much less space? And how did anything make sense.
A really huge disappointment. But I've finally made it clear to myself that my objectivity when it comes to reading Hebert's book has not been an issue at all.
Oh Nash you sexy beast you, "my jeans hold in everything that's important." He talks about his 'member' like it's a real person and well I found that funny, "he's not going to get any smaller with you sitting on my lap like that," he murmured." I mean ladies, the man is a looker (winks), "his skin was bronzed and darkly tanned, smooth and hairless...except for a little trail of dark curly hair that started just below his navel and traveled into the tan cargo shorts that hung loosely on his hips." I love men with happy trails, follow it to the buried treasure. He's a possessive man, "no. He can't. You're already taken." His mama raised him right, "a strong man always makes sure his woman is provided for. That she has everything she needs." Hot damn I hope the boy has a brother that's free and single. Although I enjoyed this bookie I have to say out of the series Tease is still my favorite. I can't wait for the next one in the series, Cambria's writing gets better and better with each book she puts out.
Okay, so I went in to this book knowing that the author likes to write fantasy. I mean so far the books in this series have been a far cry from anything remotely close to reality. That's not really my thing, but I still liked the previous two books. This one was no different. It's a far, far cry from reality. Like, Pluto far. I liked it, but wasn't a fan of the fact that it was that far...I mean, she might as well should have written something about fire breathing dragons on the island. It also lost a star for the ending...thinking she was still dreaming about the other guy. Sorry, that was just weird.
This was as good as the previous books. I did not like the characters, I thought everything about the story was way too easy of a plot. Also, being stranded on an island is pretty cliche plot and the author did not bring anything different.
I did not like Duke, the stranger islander. He was way too creepy especially with his lust after Ava x(
This one wasn't as good as the other books in the series I've read (I'm reading them in order so this is the third) but it was all an okay story. I just didn't feel like i connected with the characters as much as the other stories.
A great book with romance, comedy and mystery. The bond that Nash and Ava create becomes a part of their survival. Can Bash protect her? Or will he be too late?
So, for some reason I’m obsessed with “lost at sea” romances lately - probably because I’ve been trapped at home for over a year during a pandemic. Anyway, this ridiculousness might have cured me of my obsession.
I can only blame myself really; there were so many red flags. So. Very. Many. I should’ve stopped when the H, who is a pilot, assumed that the airplane crashed near Bermuda, even though it was charted for Puerto Rico. I should’ve stopped when the h - immediately upon waking up from an airplane crash - was distracted by sexy thoughts while getting her wound tended. I should’ve stopped at the first inconsistency, and I DEFINITELY should have stopped at the h’s description of why she is “broken”. Unfortunately, I didn’t stop. I read every ridiculous word. My fault.
I don’t like to throw the word “stupid” around in reviews, but this book is too stupid to read. Save yourself. Run.
OK...I love Cambria but I’m not sure about this one...Tempt was the fourth book in the new collection but was book 3 originally in the series. This one was a little off the wall...I get it, if these were meant to be light, silly, take your mind off things, kinda reads then mission accomplished. Don’t go in thinking this will be the best book you ever read...
Nash was sent to bring Ava back to Puerto Rico. Once in the air, a surprise storm Was no match for his small plane. As they crashed, Nash did all he could to keep Ava protected.
When Ava came to, she realized they had survived but were now stuck on a deserted island. They soon found out they were not completely alone but would they be rescued or were they in grave danger?
Like I said, I am a huge Cambria fan and this was the first one I haven’t loved. I still enjoyed reading it but...yeah, not my fave 😕
There's naive & there's stupid-unfortunately, Ava, the female MC falls into the latter category (loved Nash though, one of the male MC's).
Also have an issue with the Dukes character, or more so with one of his actions, so I guess it would be more of a writing issue....If the pirates wanted Ava alive, why did Duke try to drown her?
That said, the book is still and easy and somewhat enjoyable read...I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I still look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series
I have been making my way through the TAKE IT OFF Series by Cambria Hebert and I just can not get enough. I am in serious love with these books.. I was a little worried about this one because I am not really into the triangle love thing but I took the plunge and Cambria did not even lead me a little astray! I loved it. THE whole series has just been fun easy reads with hotness and a little who done it. LOVING all the twists!!
Trapped on an island and no way off. Love this plot line. The author did an awesome job at mixing the steam of Nash and Ava’s connection, the suspense of what’s happening on the island, but also, the witty banter between the two main characters. The suspense aspect really kept me hooked from the moment I started. It was a pretty straight forward story. I really enjoy this series and the away the author intertwines the romance with the suspense. 4 Stars #2OCCJD
5 ⭐️ Wow. This one was a ride. Some parts had me gaping, and the last few chapters were pretty intense. I loved Ava and Nash together. It was so beautiful to see Ava figuring out that some parts of her weren’t broken and it was amazing to see Nash helping her realize that. They ended up in an intense situation and it was pretty nailbiting at some parts. I’m really happy they got out in the end and figured everything out.
I enjoyed reading this romantic stand-alone story. Ava and Nash are stranded on a deserted Island after a horrific flight. What starts out as romantic story turns into a fight for survival when they discover they are not alone. Sexy scenes and lots of drama.
Okay so I absolutely loved the story of Nash and BBC Ava. I loved the plot twist with Duke on the island as well. My biggest frustration is, as a Spanish speaker what little Spanish was written here felt butchered. 😭 every time.
I would recommend this book to adults that enjoy stories that are funny, steamy, suspenseful, and romantic, with strong characters both male and female.
