Use this book daily to ID birds in my yard and neighborhood. Good starting point. Some vague descriptions and some of the scientific names don’t match local bird list from TINS.

Very nice book. If you buy Sierra Nevada guidebook already, you won't need this one. Since it is a part of that book.

This is a great little guide! It is actually very helpful because it explains from the beginning some of the practical ways to distinguish birds from one another.
