Chronicling the meteoric rise of one of today's hottest musical stars, this comprehensive biography of Taylor Swift reveals how she conquered the pop and country music charts, earned a shelf full of awards, and broke multiple chart records--all before she turned 20. Beginning with her childhood in Pennsylvania, the account recalls her early ambition to land a record deal, describing her personal deliveries of demos to Nashville record companies at age 11, her first failed deal with RCA Records, and her ultimate success signing with Big Machine Records. Alongside full-color photos, the guide goes on to detail Taylor's songs, albums, and tours; friends such as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Kellie Pickler, and boyfriends, including the Jonas Brothers' Joe; and other must-know facts, from musical influences, duets, and acting gigs on "CSI" to charity work and future plans. Lively and engaging, this unofficial story gets to the heart of a fearless young star and shows how she captured the world.
Liv Spencer is the writing duo of Jen Knoch & Crissy Calhoun.
Jen Knoch is an editor at ECW Press and the founder of the Keepin’ it Real Book Club, where you’ll find her thoughts on books she reads and on other book-related adventures. Crissy Calhoun works with Jen at ECW Press, as its managing editor, and she also writes companion guides to The Vampire Diaries (the Love You to Death series).
One fine day while toiling at ECDubs HQ, Jen and Crissy decided they should join forces to write books together about subjects they love — hey, half the work, double the glory! — and Liv Spencer was born. (Fun fact: our pen name is a combo of Olivia and Spencer, the children of one of ECW’s pop-culture-minded bosses.)
Despite book-writing being kind of a heck of a lot of work, we can’t seem to stop — there’s nothing better than diving into something we’re fans of and emerging 60,000 words later looking a little haggard but feeling even more in love with our subject than when we pitched the idea to the editorial team at ECW. And once our little books go out into the world, it is the best, most nerve-wracking thing to hear what readers think!
As the editor of this book, I may be a little biased but this is a well-written, compelling, and complete biography of Taylor Swift filled with great photos and interesting analysis and background on Taylor's music. Highly recommended for any fan of T-Swizzle.
I really liked this compilation of Taylor Swift’s life from childhood to 2010. It brings back memories of the earlier Swiftie days before Taylor Swift was a global superstar.
