I like that they eat mice. I learned that they circle and circle around for a little bit, and then, once they spot a prey, they use their talons and they GRAB A FISH!

I learned that they use their beak to scratch and scratch and scratch the fish’, mice’, or bunnies’ skin.

This title is one of the “Backyard Wildlife” series. It covers the characteristics, habitats, and reproduction of hawks. Each spread includes a page of brief text coupled with a large color photograph of hawks in action. The font size and format are aimed at early readers. Back matter includes a glossary, bibliography, publisher’s website and index. This series would fill the need for nonfiction science titles for early readers. It is also suited to ELL and special populations. Order if needed.
