Took me back to grade school - must have read these books back then - wonderful memories. Books like this are what I remember when my grade school had book sales; I would go and pick out a book and then trade with a friend after I was finished reading it. This book really seems familiar - would not be surprised if I read it for the first time years ago.

A lovely little book showing scenes of spring enjoyed from a child's perspective. I love books that feature outdoor play and children appreciating nature. This books shows children venturing out to play after the winter, seeing new creatures and plants come to life. Lovely that this book features maypole dancing, this is a custom I love, it's sad that this has become less popular in recent decades as it's a lovely seasonal custom.

Read on open library.

Love the classic theme on it also the details in her illustrations. The story, the plot, the setting, the character, I love them all...

Sweet sentiments and illustrations. NOTE: Some of the illustrations are a bit dated in regards to gender roles and diversity. Additionally, there is a specific piece near the end of the tiny book that features what appears to me to be a small Caucasian boy wearing and Native headband/feather. Would recommend for those of a certain vintage looking for a moment of nostalgia but would not recommend presenting to a child today without some age appropriate discussion of the above issues.

This is just the sweetest little picture book. I remember going to my elementary school library and picking it up Every. Single. Time. so I could flip through the pages while I picked out my new books. I don't know why I loved it so much, but it has stuck in my mind for over 25 years, so that says something.

💐One of my favourite books. I was obsessed with it as a kid. I decorated my copy with stickers and coloured in the pictures, something I never did with any other book. Joan's art looked much better without my additions, but I have to admire my bold use of colours and disregard for staying within the lines. One of the pages seems to have been coloured in with a shockingly pink colour, still vibrant all these years later. It doesn't match the scene at all!

Some of the stickers are cute animals and flowers, which almost fits, but I've also included a blue helicopter, a television and a baseball (though I have never played or seen a game of baseball⚾).

At some point I moved from felt pens to crayons. I have made a calf blue, green and orange...

I left the final two pages as they were. The art is lovely, and I think I would like to find another copy of this book so I can appreciate the images as they were intended
