Ryder Matthews was, by all intents and purposes, a rock god. The lead singer of Bad Blooded Rebel, he was talented, gorgeous, and used to getting his way in all aspects of his life...until he met a raven haired beauty backstage after a concert in his hometown. She seemed like she'd rather be anywhere than at his show...and it intrigued him.
Everleigh Stone was about as down to earth as a girl from Indiana could be. She felt out of her element when her best friend dragged her along to see a famous rock band in concert and couldn't wait to leave...especially when she goes backstage and meets the bands lead singer who makes her reluctantly weak in the knees.
Ryder can't get Everleigh out of his mind after their first encounter...he has to know her. What will happen when takes a chance and follows her to her hometown?
I currently reside in Indiana and I am a wife, mother of 3, a hairstylist, and now, published author! I love to write, and I hope my book is the first of many!
It's not that this is a bad story because it isn't. I'm just having trouble because the main characters act more like college-age or right around 21 rather than 24 and 27. There's an immaturity they project, and the fact that the lead singer of a major rock band doesn't have 24 hour protection and use more common sense when leaving the house, just isn't sitting right with me. Ryder doesn't even try to disguise himself in order to have peace, and he drags Everleigh into the middle of his notoriety regardless of her feeling.
I was able to download all four parts for free, so I'll be finishing them. I'm hoping it gets better since I had high hopes from the description.
The book started out rather well until the ex's name seems to be throughout the book - in her thoughts and hanging on the tongue constantly. The Way Ryder and Everleigh talked and behaved reminds me of some teenagers.
What did I think of Rebel? I LOVED IT! I'm a sucker for hot rockers in love and Mellie George did not let me down! Ryder Matthews is just yummy. He is hot, he is sweet and he falls hard for Everleigh Stone. He is determined to make her his even though in her eyes she's not worthy of him or anyone. And so we follow them on this quick but interesting journey as they get to know each other and fall harder for one another.
Mellie George has managed to capture the emotions of both Ryder and Everleigh really well; I had tears in my eyes at times, and really felt like I knew these characters, which, in a novella, does not always happen. I liked that the reader also has a chance to meet the supporting characters, best friend Danni and band members Beau, Kris and Jude; I just know we're being set up for some awesome spin-off stories! I also loved the alternating POVs. I always enjoy being in the heads of both the male and female characters, it provides so much more insight into their situation. The one thing I thought could have been written a little better was the way they switched back and forth. Sometimes they just seemed to recap what each other already told the reader, so it felt, at times, like I was reading the same thing twice just in different words and a different tone, rather than getting new insight into a situation. This, however, did not bother me enough to affect how much I loved the story. It's just something I picked up on while reading. I think it's also something an author can easily improve with more experience and practice (it also might just be my beta-eyes working overtime).
The hardest part about reading a really good novella is that it ends too soon. Just as you're getting really invested in the characters and the storyline, it's over. While this was the case for me with Rebel, I didn't feel like it was too short. Sure it could have been longer, and more detailed or just taken place over a longer period of time, but to be honest, I don't think it needed that. The author knew what she was doing and leaves us at a point in the story wanting more. This is a great way to lead us into Book #2 (which lucky for me is already waiting for me on my Kindle). I cannot wait to see where she takes us. I've already got my tissues on hand as I know there will be a lot of tears in the early part of the second book, but that's just fine with me.
Thank you Mellie George for giving us Ryder and Everleigh and for introducing us to their world. I'm looking forward to the rest of their story as well as all their friends' stories in the future. You rock! :)
The overall story is good but it follows the format for rock band stories so I found it a tad predictable. The 4 childhood friends + 1 girl (years younger than the rest of them) who they all loved and protected like a sister, along with the life-long camaraderie of having endured -and survived-useless parents as the base frame for the main characters left me feeling like I have read this before.
The story itself was entertaining throughout and the character development of Ryder and Everleigh evolved enough for me to keep reading. As I was not expecting a Pulitzer-Price-modern-classic-deep -and-meaningful-work or literary art, I cannot say in good conscience that it was in any way a disappointing read. The humor was good when and where it was used and the love scenes smokin'
The only downside for me was the seemingly never-ending grammar and spelling mistakes. I myself am very prone to spelling and grammar mistakes and as such it does not normally bother me, but in this book it is so bad in places that I had to read certain sentences several times to try and decipher what it was meant to be.
Ryder Matthews lead singer for the band Bad Blooded Rebels. He's sexy and tattooed and muscled. But he has a heart of gold and is not a player like another member of the band. Everleigh Stone is dragged to the rock concert of Bad Blooded Rebel by her best friend Danni Sharpe, all she wants to do is get back home, not interested in all the tattooed, screaming, and over-confident rockers she is anything but excited when she is forced into taking photographs to make Danni happy.3 months of thinking about the her leads Ryder to Muncie, Indiana to see if he can figure out just what it is about Everleigh that has had him in knots. When he gets there, its not what he's expecting nor prepared for. Taking him back into his own tragedies he tries to win over the girl, he thinks he doesn't deserve. This first book in this series was a short quick read with a cliffhanger. This is my first time reading this author. This was a really good book it was well written and the MC's were very likeable. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Ryder Matthews... need I say more? LOL This was my first knowledge of Ryder and wow, where has he been all my life? No seriously though, I totally loved meeting Ryder and Evie. who wouldn't want a rock star to fall in love with them? well obviously Everleigh Stone, at first. She didn't like the "rocker" type, the ones that are all about themselves and are groupie "sluts". But when their eyes meet during a meet and greet backstage, and Ryder touches her when Evie's friend Danni who she came with, wants a photo of the band, Ryder will only take the picture if Evie is in it. As she stands next to Ryder but as far away as possible, Ryder decides to pull her to him at the last minute before the pic is taken. Needless to say, Evie is NOT happy about that. Three months later, Ryder can't take it any more and drives from Cincinnati to Muncie to see Evie, things begin to change. This story had its ups and downs and a couple sad spots and lots of love and happiness.
This is a novella about Everleigh and Ryder. I really liked these two as a couple from the first time we meet them.
Ryder is a Rock Star Everleigh is a girl next door type but he falls for her at first sight. She rolls her eyes at him and pays him no mind. Which of course makes him fall for her all the more because shes not throwing herself at him.
We also get to meet the rest of Bad Blooded Rebel and these guys are all swoon worthy for sure. I look forward to getting into their stories as well.
Currently Ryder is trying to convenience Everleigh they belong together. She is trying to deny her feels as well as deal with her terminally ill father.
I love this story, and I love this little rock family that is developing with the characters. If you like Rock Star romances this is a good one.
Bad boy rock band Bad Blooded Rebel's lead singer Ryder Matthews has had his choice of groupies for years, one of the perks of being a rockstar. That is until Everleigh shows up backstage one night. Everleigh is NOT a rock fan... but her best friend dragged her there. Now Ryder is obsessed with her and must get closer to her. I really really enjoyed this novella. There's just enough to draw me in, but so much that it was dragging. I was drawn enough that I'm dying to know what happens next. The only issue I felt was the characters seem a bit younger than stated... they have a sense of immaturity about them, but not like annoyingly so, they just seem younger, however it is to get past that because Everleigh and Ryder are such likeable characters. Definitely recommend the read...

I would've given the book more stars but it was WAY too short. It was literally half the size of a normal book and the font was pretty big. There was not a whole lot of character development and at times, the female lead really pissed me off with her negative self-image. People telling her she's gorgeous then the media naming her a plain Jane? Makes no sense there. I thought this book would be 1 rockstars story complete with HEA and the next book would possibly be the next band members book - alas, since this was only a half of a book, there is, indeed a cliffhanger *weary sigh*
Mellie has once again found her way through to gold. Here you will go on a journey many have been on before and many will go through in the future. You will enter a world of the everyday and it will collide with fame and celebrity status. This series is sure to touch all of your emotions and leave you aching to open the next one and ride along. What are you waiting for this is just the first one, there are 2 more waiting for you with more to come....you gotta catch up!!!!
I really enjoyed this first book in the Bad Blooded Rebel series. I liked getting to know Ryder and Evie and the rest of the guys. It was great reading the different points of view from Ryder and Evie because it made me feel like I was getting to know them better. Ryder was hooked on Evie from the moment she rolled her eyes at him and vice versa and it was sweet seeing their romance begin. Looking forward to reading the next book and sharing more emotions with Ryder and Evie and the gang.
Short & Sweet! Everleigh meets Ryder, a bad boy rocker, at his concert and is totally unimpressed. Of course, part of the problem is her ex-boyfriend, Scott, convinced her that she is ugly and no one will ever want her. Unfortunately, Everleigh believes him. So when Ryder takes the 2 hour trip to her hometown to convince Everleigh how gorgeous he thinks she is, she does not believe him. Lots of conflict in this story!
So I very rarely write reviews only on books I love. soooo...
Rebel is such as amazing book!!! I recommend this to anyone who loves rockstar romances...part of me wishes I waited until December to read..JUST SO..I can go right into the next book!!!! I don't wait to wait but at least it is only a little over a month away!
Mellie is an awesome writer...SPREAD The word to read her books!!!
so so read. Lots too fast on the relationship side. every conversation felt stiff/no emotion really. It was hard to really "get into" the story..it was too short, too quick and too "monotone". It felt like reading a boring report on stock futures or something. Hard to explain really, but it just seemed to be rote.
This review is for all 4 books. I enjoyed every bit of Ryder and Everleigh's story. Ryder is an awesome book boyfriend in every way. Everleigh is such a sweetheart, she didn't deserve everything that happened to her. Loved all the supporting characters too. Wish for more of Ryder and Everleigh. Thank you Mellie for an amazing story!!
Really like the book and liked the characters but was unhappily surprised when the book suddenly ended on a cliffhanger. If I had known it was going to end on a cliffhanger I would have waited until more of the series was out before buying it. It sorta ruined the story for me.
Loved this book but I was really sad how short it was :( I'm very impatient and December is WAY TOO FAR away!! I DO NOT like waiting!! Haha Have to say I do love the guys in the band and look forward to all the rest of the books in this series
Okay, I know this is only a novella but it was too short and a little boring. The story is okay but predictable and their relationship was too fast. I mean, they meet at a concert, 3 months later the guy finds the girl again then--boom, after a day, they're together.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is not a complete story. You need to purchase another book to finish the story.
The characters are young and immature. There is a good side story with the dying father. Yet the girl is perfect, sweet, beautiful, nice, etc. The guy is handsome, rich, rock star, pines for her, etc.
