In the near future, a shadowy competition known only as the tournament has the power to change the fates and fortunes of millions. One man—Eddie Mazaryk—fights to control it all.
Mazaryk gathers influence as the steward of the Black House, working behind the scenes to create a global mafia of the world’s most powerful tournament teams. His goal: to mold the tournament into the strongarm he believes it was created to be.
Frank Youngsmith and Allen Lockton know the only way to beat a man like Mazaryk is with information. They race against time to provide Ellie Willmore and Team Blue with an edge—insights into the inner workings of the most dangerous man in the game.
In the fallout from Shawnee, Team Blue is reeling and the remaining teams are divided. Ellie is the only one who can stop the Black House, but to do it, she needs to pull off a miracle: unite sworn enemies to beat the best of the best.
The stakes have never been higher: The winners own the tournament while the losers forfeit everything…even their lives. Ties of friendship, love and hate are tested to the breaking point in Black Spring—the spectacular conclusion of the Tournament Trilogy.
B. B. Griffith writes best-selling supernatural thrillers. He is the author of the Vanished series, the Tournament series, and the Gordon Pope thrillers. He lives in Denver, CO, where he is often seen sitting on his porch staring off into the distance or wandering to and from local watering holes with his family.
The Tournament is now prime time entertainment for the masses. Worldwide focus is on the teams, the players and what will happen next on an international chess board where the winner will take all and there will be no re-match for the losers. Eight teams went in and one team broke all the rules, now everyone will pay. A demented quest for absolute power must be stopped and like David and Goliath, sometimes the bigger they are the harder they will fall, but heaven help those who stand against them. Enter the world of BLACK SPRING with caution, you never know who has you in their sights.
I had the pleasure of reading each book in the trilogy one right after the other and all I can say is what a ride! Brilliant storytelling, characters that do not require that you like them, understand them or root for them. Each player is unique, driven by their own inner demons or sense of justice. Some are driven by fear and the will to survive, but every one of these players will register something on your radar, be it their quirky sense of humor at the most unlikely times or their dark side that can be comprehendible. You might even find yourself amazed at the one odd man out who found something besides his boring life to live or die for, courage!
Once again, B.B. Griffith deals out edge-of-your seat action throughout, be it physical, mental or emotional, this was one thrill ride that will leave readers wondering, what if and quite possibly, why not?

We get to know more about the players, what has motivated them. Each is unique as of the country they come from, No limit, and nothing is held back at this underground betting. It is all part of the game. The plot the characters are one of a kind. The author has drawn us in to play, and has mastered the game.
What a great story! I enjoyed the way the story played out and was quite sad to finish it! Definitely recommend reading. Concept is well thought out and the author’s style of writing makes it a pleasure to read. I really enjoyed the characters so will be reading the 4th book which is set 10 years later to see how they ended up.
It finished off the trilogy nicely but overall I found it harder working through this book than the previous two as there were more aspects to the story but also what felt like some unanswered questions to the whole Tournament idea.
So, the conclusion to The Tournament trilogy (which apparently has a book 4 coming soon if it isn't out already). And it did feel like a conclusion here, so I don't know if I'll read any further with what now seems to be a series.
This time, The Tournament has become a worldwide sensation. Everybody and their dog is watching on tv, showing up where teams might be expected to appear, having an opinion and a favourite team. It has basically turned into an enormous sporting event. Team Black has holed up in an old house in Moscow, and invites the other teams to join them there. Some go, some, suspecting a trap, don't. But Team Black has an ultimatum, and this Tournament will spell total control for one team, and total submission from the others. And there are a couple of 'new' teams who want in on the action, whatever the cost. In the midst of it all, our faithful former insurance agent and his courier companion are trying to work out the history of The Tournament, to prevent disaster.
This is a pretty hectic book, with a ton of action being played out for enormous stakes. Characters are falling left, right and centre, and it's not clear who might survive. Ellie turned out to carry on as a fairly decent person, as did Ian, and the French team, while still being somewhat nuts, were definitely much more likeable. As such, it meant I finally had a fair few characters to root for, which made this probably my favourite of the trilogy.
One of the problems with reading a series of books that comes out a couple of years apart, as most do, is that one forgets the earlier parts of the story. It took me a bit to get back into this one - it's not like TV or a movie where there's a bit of "last time on..." - and I wasn't going to go back and reread the first two books just to get back up to speed. Now that the trilogy is complete I'd recommend just sitting down and reading them back to back. Well paced action adventure, fun read, well written.
I just realized that there is a 4th book. I won't be reading it... This one was okay. It felt like a last book, and so I have no real desire to read any more. It ended well enough, and I was mostly satisfied with it. I didn't love this series, though, and I take back any recommendations I might have made for it...
An okay ending to a fun series. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, however I do find that in this final instalment the originality of the series has run its course. Still a fun read, but now I am slightly questioning if it was needed to (over)stretch this nice concept into several books.
Good tight writing, excellent pacing. This is a really well written and engrossing book, and an excellent finale to The Tournament series (although I think everyone agrees that there is and should be a "summer" out there somewhere Mr Griffith).
