Artemis #1

Artemis: Poison of Hera

Rate this book
After a seemingly-irrelevant, recurring nightmare, Alexis begins another day of her simple life on the holy island of Delos. After encountering strange visitors to the island and watching her mother’s increased, bizarre behavior, Alexis begins digging . . . and is shocked at what she finds. Her life is suddenly plunged into the magical world of the gods. She discovers that she is Artemis, Goddess of the Moon; murdered and reborn into hiding as a mortal after her titaness mother, Leto, makes a deal with Hades. Alexis is soon thrown into the middle of a treacherous conspiracy to overturn Zeus and end freewill, or possibly the world as they know it; and she, alone, is the key; destined by the Moirae to stop Hera before she succeeds. . . if Alexis can stay alive long enough.
Soon after Alexis’ discovery, a ship wrecks just off shore of Delos. It is carrying a strikingly-handsome captain who manages to ensnare even Alexis’ attention. Little does she know, he is there to capture her and bring her back to Greece as part of Hera’s deep plan to ensure her death . . . again. Alexis finds herself fighting to remain hidden from Hera; fighting for her life and freedom of the gods, beasts, and man alike; and fighting her involuntary love for her capturer, the ship captain.

If you enjoy Mythology, Artemis: Poison of Hera written by Rebecca Murphey is an excellent read. This is book 1 in the Artemis Series. Alexis is a regular woman living on the island of Delos with her mother and variety of friends. Ever since she was little Alexis was looked at differently because her looks were very different from everyone else on the island. Alexis has had nightmares all of her life, which were very vivid and real. Her mother refused to way in on what they could mean so she just left it all alone. Until on day a straggler, also known as a witch came to the island specifically looking for Alexis. Many weird things were starting to occur and Alexis was left with more questions than answers. Alexis confronted the witch with the questions she had. The witch made it very clear a war was coming and it was all due to Alexis. The witch also made it a point to warn Alexis not to trust anyone. Alexis wanted to find out who she was, who her father was, and why all these things were happening. Rebecca Murphey writes an excellent story about a girl who has a heavy past and burden. The Gods are heavily involved with this book as well, but how exactly does it all fit in. Will this war end Alexis' story or will there be more to come with her. Artemis: Poison of Hera will hook you and leave to ready to start onto the next book. I look forward to continue the books written by Rebecca Murphey.
