Everything has changed… For one brother, a new life is beginning with the woman of his dreams, for the other, survival is all he can think about. Twin brothers, Cade and Jarrett, have found themselves on opposing sides throughout their whole lives. Having lived for almost 300 years, there are a lot of differences between them. One of those differences is a woman named Collett, a woman with no past. Known to many as The Hunter, Jarrett had disobeyed The Faction. By allowing Collett to live, he finds himself in deeper trouble than even he can handle, now finding himself the hunted. The brother he’s scorned may be his only hope. Desperate and certain his time is coming to an end, Jarrett’s enemies are closing in. Meanwhile, Collett’s nightmares worsen as her powers gain more control over her. Between the two of them, Cade finds himself torn between protecting both the woman he loves and the brother who has always opposed him. With danger around every corner and the enemy in hot pursuit, their only hope of survival lays in learning the real truth behind Collett’s past, and the strained bonds of brotherhood. When it seems all hope is lost, they will be forced to face their enemy. In a desperate battle, on a high sea cliff, a warrior from the most unlikely place will emerge to save them. Victory however, may not be what any of them expects. Will the price of knowing be more than they are willing to pay? In this thrilling modern fantasy sequel to, Forgotten Enemy, things are just heating up, and the truth is not far away.
Camille Bateman Haight, was born and raised in Sandy Utah. She was born seventh in a family with eleven children. Growing up in a loving home she was taught strong principals. Among those lessons was first a love of God, second, a love for family, and third, a love for stories.
Her father helped her mother learn to read after they were married. Together they taught their children the value of a good book and the hidden worlds between the pages.
Now as a mother of five girls, Camille passes those lessons to her own children. With a BA in communications, she found a way to turn her love of reading into a love for writing and hopes the messages hidden in those pages can inspire others.
Having settled in Utah County with her family, Camille spends her extra time bringing new characters to life.
Camille believes, a good story can lead us out of our darkest places. It should pull at you from within, challenge you to think, and bring forth a bond between you and the characters. The characters must be more than just names on a page. They should be your best friend or your most hated foe. A good story will make you laugh out loud or have tears slipping down your cheeks. It should feel real and engage you on every level.
From the start, I felt connected with the characters, as if I were an invisible spector to their world, a floating particle of perspective just dying to jump in with them. We are quickly emerged into a world of demons and monsters, with a society all their own.
I didn't need to read the first novel in the series to feel comfortable picking this one up. At first, I was cautious skipping a novel but a friend had recommended this as a "must read," and we have honestly been talking over the subtleties ever since.
I highly suggest picking this up, but start with the first! If you're going to do it than do it right. Haight is worth the reading spree. I am looking forward to whatever else she brings to the table.
Omgosh, I am flabbergasted. WTH just happened. Straight to book 3 for me. I am too invested to stop now. By the way, this one was just as amazing as the first. I could not put it down. Only work caused any interruption in my reading and I am only there until I win the lottery, lol. Ok, off to read book 3.
The pacing was excellent and really drove home just how powerful a novel this is. The characters were interesting and a little bit one-dimensional, but not in a bad way. It was a good vs evil story at it's core, and I really enjoyed reading it.
This was the second book in the series, and now I can't wait to move on to the last book and see how everything ends!
