Sweet Goddess of swoon thank you so much for this book that's made me get misty eyed, laugh, and want a Devin of my own!

Im usually a rather verbose reviewer, but it's hard to gush about all the wonders of the sweet, steamy romance and all the paranormal plot points without giving too much away.

The characters are far from cutout overtures of other paranormal books. The MCs have just the right mix of strengths & weaknesses to make them both relatable and envied for readers. I loved watching their relationship unfold. My only complaint was that the female MC often overreacted when it came to the male MC & acted a little childish at times. However, given her past woes with infidelity, I can understand her actions and feelings somewhat.

The female MC has been burned by men, causing her to weary of relationships, and her mother abandoning her twice as a child only furthers her no second chances rule. She can't seem to stick to this rule when she meets rich, charismatic, beautiful Devin & he awakens more in her than just lust. His obsession with having her breaks her walls down, but his obsession with keeping her safe, even if it's from him, is both her undoing and awakening. Is he the playboy that she thinks? Will she be able to give those that have scorned her a third, fourth chance? Can she control the sleeping giants that awaken within her? Oh, and just for good measure, she has to sort it all out while a bunch of mythological bad guys try their best to kill her and everyone around her.

The secondary characters aren't treated as disposable, faceless plot advancement pieces; they have their own unique voices, personalities, and roles within the book. The banter is often witty and/or endearing. I just loved all the "good" guys:)

The writing itself was also just to my liking. I prefer fast moving stories that don't ramble on about mundane surroundings. This author knows how to write a nuts and bolts plot and surround it with emotional, humorous, steamy, and just enough mythology to make it pure perfection. This author has a new fangirl;)

I will certainly be continuing forward with the trilogy!

CM Owens is probably my favorite author EVER, tied w. KA. She has this ability to create unique stories that are captivating. Honestly, most of her paranormal stuff is unlike anything I've read before. And every single one of her stories, under her other pen-names as well, have such an interesting mix of romance, humor, and intensity. It works so freaking well.

I started this months ago, but never got around to finishing it bc this is one of her earlier stories. I've binge read most of her stuff and her newer stuff is obviously better bc she has most definitely improved her writing. That doesn't mean this wasn't good either.

This was more of a 3.75 for me, so I had to round up. At times I was very annoyed at our h, but the overall story was too good for me to not be obsessed with. I've needed a book series to keep me bust before I binge read ATPM this weekend and I got so lucky that it's the same author!

4.5-5 Stars.

Enjoyed the ups and downs of discovering Adisia's identity throughout the book. I love Devin Cole, wow! I like that he was very much a man, and not some strange distant Titan-god-like-character. He is perfect in his wide range of resources and stunning good looks, but the point in the book where he gets angry with Adisia because she was an idiot , I liked the reality of it.

The way this book started and the way it ended, I was very surprised and shocked for all this book contains. It really is a great start to a trilogy. I can't give it a full 5 stars because it was a little slow for me at times, but I think now that we have a better understanding of our characters that it will be a breeze to finish up the next 2 books! I definitely have to know what happens.

EDIT: Read this a few times over the years (maybe in 2017 and 18?) and honestly it did not age well at all xD hahaha - the number of grammar and orthography mistakes, and the tone of the story. Big yikes. Still one of my favs, tho, for sweet nostalgia's sake, and I do recommend the trilogy, but more as a mindless romance read that is relatively creative. *chef's kiss* Most of CM's stuff from back then is genuinely amazing - always has been - but, yh, most of it reads juvenile now (which makes sense bc these were some of her first self-published works). The concepts are top-notch.

2014 review:
I totally recommend the trilogy to those who love a twisted, dangerous romance with more to it than just a mundane life.
This is the most thrilling book I've ever read. I loved every bit from the beginning to the very end of the trilogy. Adisia (Aphrodisia) Titan and Devin Cole were just perfect. But then again, that's what C. M. Owens was aiming for, I'm guessing. I'm utterly speechless. I have no idea how to describe this work of genius!!

Adisia Titan drummed up the courage to hit on Devin Cole, but he shot her down immediately and left Adisia with a bruised ego. It was out of her comfort zone but when Devin approaches her later she returns the rejection on him. However Devin finds a way to talk her into spending the night with him but he has no idea that there is more to Adisia than meets the eye. Adisia is a direct descendant of Aphrodite and with his help has released powers she didn't even know she had. However there are forces out there that will destroy her if they even get a hint of who she is, can Devin protect her?

Overall I liked this story but the ending left me a bit confounded. Had a couple parts that were a bit draggy but I liked the idea of this story. The chemistry between Adisia and Devin is electric, not an overly steamy book though.

C.M Owens to me is a tub of ben and jerry's ice cream I usually devour them in one sitting, this book didn't disappoint......

A whirlwind, tormenting romance.
a mix of Greek Gods and goddesses along with their descendants....
overwhelming heartache
unknown enemies with an unknown agenda
hidden powers
and serious man candy......

Pair this with cookie dough Ice cream you have the perfect read.

A book has to be pretty bad for me not to finish it. And, I usually have a high tolerance with romance novels - meaning that I will put up with a lot. But I just could not read another page of how highly sexed the woman is, how perfect the man is, blah, blah, blah.

There was the bare bones of a plot, but the sex seemed to be the main thing and it didn't even do anything for me. Ugh.

The only saving grace is the book was free.

Like that's any way of ending a book. ARGHHHH
It was a nice book. But it was so long, and I can see that it could have been better edited.
There are numerous repetitions and grammar and spelling errors. I understand that this was an early published book but it is no excuse that after all this time it wasn't revised.
Anyway the story was quite captivating. The main squeeze a delectable piece of man meat and the side characters were pretty cool themselves.
I cannot say that I'm too invested in the heroine, Adisia was an airhead most of the time, very whiny and confused, made very stupid decisions and managed to jump to piss poor conclusions without even listening to the man she loves the most in the whole wide world.
But, it was a nice world building that I will probably venture to read the sequel to.

End to soon

Immortals living hidden in a Mortal world. Gosh this book has a little of everything betrayal, love, anger, making up, laughs, and I could go on.

There's so much push and pull between these too. Now are we back at the beginning?

When a story opens with a heroine who doesn't wanna hook up, but to appease her best friend she'll dress hot, shoot down all wannabes and cry foul when she is rejected by tall, dark and handsome - I cringe.

Actually I cringed quite a few times through this.

For example, how many times must you describe someone as perfect? Or point out how insanely good looking a couple is compared to everyone else? It made me gag.

Especially the lack of romance. I suppose it may have been in there somewhere. But it was too heavily saturated in lust for me to see it clearly. It was all driven by Aphrodite's need for carnal satisfaction and not that slow burn that sets the pace for years to come.

There were a few points that had me in fits though. Like our heroes idea of seduction -
"I can promise you I'm no threat. I simply want to feed you. Relax."
or when our heroine pointed out -
"I suppose sexy men hang out with sexy men. It's not that way with most females. Insecurities and all."
Yea, those were some good times.

Parts of this read reminded me of this authors other trilogy, Deadly Beauties. Our heroine magically comes into her own after meeting someone like them, each has parental issues, they have an entourage of 'insanely hot' guys following them, neither can control themselves unless they're with the love of life and if you're not a related female you want to steal their man. Or you're some crazy ass strong chick that has to protect the heroin because the only other option is enemy.

Some parts were too clichéd, others were damn entertaining. If you like things light and based around hotness than this maybe for you.

Happy reading.

Honestly, it was good. Fast paced. No slow build ups that take forever (pet peeve of mine).

I wish the author would have taken more time to build the characters and created dialog which incited a feeling of chemistry. Don't get me wrong though, it was a lovely story. I just felt it lacked depth in certain areas and lacked a reader/character connection for me personally. The story itself is very interesting and pulls some mythology into the mix.

Pros: Unique, good pace, mythology, MC that doesn't mope too much and create unrealistic problems for no reason (another pet peeve)

Cons: depth of characters & relationships, the ending (UGH HUGE PET PEEVE)** I can not stand when authors take everything I just read (relationships, experiences, etc) and flush them down the toilet. Personal preference again. You may not be bothered by it.

Overall, it's a good read and I enjoyed it. I recommend it to young adults who enjoy mythology with their romance. Also the sex scenes are pretty PG-13. I'd vote this a New Adult book.

This book started off sooooo good to me. It was hilarious and also very unique, considering I've never read any story that centralizes a "daughter of Aphrodite".

However...it just devolved early on into continuous (closed-door only) sex and barely any plot progression. Seriously there was so much sex...but not even good sex because it would skip over it. And next thing you know, the heroine would "wake up with a sheet wrapped around" her. Like it doesn't matter where they have sex, she always somehow ends up in a bedroom with a sheet over her. Boring.

And the heroine just became immature and annoying. She was honestly super rude and disrespectful to everyone; it was unrealistic how these immortal super-powerful beings put up with her.

A lot of things have happened since. 2014 Was a very hard year for myself so all the reviews are showing up on the same date. I can't explain why they are, if the ratings are justice or accurate I can also not say when I truly read these. I'm just going to say 2014 on the same day added just to keep the year right if not the month...

Death and danger follow Adisia, over and over again. Between that and the lust of Aphrodite, the scenes are repetitive.

⭐️ shit. My bad.

This clearly wasn’t for me. No, this book was written for a much younger age than mine. I found this book to be way too innocent, too sweet, too pegi thirteen, too weird and too dramatic. I would have probably loved this book when I was in my early teens, but not now. Absolutely not.

Just to be clear - this is a classical it’s not you it’s me thing. I love this author, and there was nothing wrong with the writing. You cannot read Winnie the Pooh and criticize it for being to childish and not realistic enough.

Spoiler alert!

Plot:
The girl, Aphrodisia, and the guy, Devin, meets and falls in love super fast. They quickly realize that weird stuff starts to happen every time they touch. After a couple of days of knowing each other Adisia, short for Aphrodisia, gets sick. Devin being an immortal and thinking that Adisia is a mortal, believes he has infected her and makes her sick with all his God glory. Never thought I write that sentence, but carry on. Turns out, Adisia isn’t infected like most of the mortals Devin seduces but is actually an immortal herself. Devin just activated her powers with their immense love. Yeah. So, Adisia is hurt for a while since Devin didn’t think her love was real. They eventually get back together, and suddenly all immortal hell breaks loose. Every evil immortal tries to use Adisia to kill Devin and his super powerful mother. Side note; Devin is the son of Poseidon. Adisia learns to control her power which is the power of seduction and sex. Super. They spilt up for a while because Devin’s ex shows up with his watch, and that clearly means only one thing: Devin had sex with his ex. Yeah, okey Adisia. They end up back together right before the evil immortals finds them again, and the book ends with a bunch of people being taken while Adisia freely offers her self in return. No such luck, miss goddess of sex.

Let me take a big leap her and guess that in the second book everything seems to be a lost cause, but Adisia finds powers within herself that is greater than anything else and saves both her soon to be husband but also the rest of the world. Well, I guess I’ll never know since I definitely won’t be reading the next one.

An Interesting Story

I enjoyed the story, and I love mythology, so this was an appealing take on modern immortality of ancient myths. I like the creativity and the characters are fun to get to know.
I was not a fan of some of the writing, but perhaps that’s just my personal issue. About halfway through the book, I started getting quite annoyed at the repeated use of “seduce” during conversations where it was repetitive and unnecessary, but I liked the story enough to keep going.
I look forward to reading more and hope to see this author smooth out the writing. Thank you for sharing your creative mind.

The story was engaging from the first chapter until the end. Adisia and Cole loved fiercely, and I was on cloud nine with so much love. However, when things went south, which both of them hurt badly, it tugged my heartstrings.

The heroine, Adisia had suffered from bad relationships in the past, which led her to be suspicious of Devin's behavior. I should have understood her for that, but sometimes I wanted to shake Adisia out of her childish act. The hero, Devin, was a lovable character. He was super cool and patient in handling the goddess.

If I were to read this book before the other two books were out, it would've halted my life! The only thing I disliked was this couple couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Seriously, Adisia, tone down a bit and have more control of your power.

Good story, just not for me. The heroine was too insecure and ruined the book for me. You can't agree to marry someone you don't trust, and yes I get it you were always cheated on, but you can't keep punishing someone in your present for someone else's mistakes. Also, they never really resolved any issues, they just had sex and then they were happily together again. Ya, this was more lust than love for me.

I'm clearly a huge fan of CM Owens, so I was very excited to be reading yet another book of hers! I really enjoyed reading this book--just as I knew I would. It saddens me to say, but the editing could have been better developed, but all in all, this was a great story with a unique plot. I was confused at times while I was reading, and I occasionally had to reread certain paragraphs to figure out what I missed. However, I give CM Owens a pass because I love her work that much!

Wow that ending

Great book the only fault in it is the female leads very immature for my liking but she is still a like able character. The story line was fantastic and all the backing characters where well fleshed out. An easy 5 stars will definitely be reading the next book after that dramatic ending.

Maybe more like 3.5* I Don't know, it's nice in the begining but become a bit boring toward the end, with the h stupid insecurity and all.
The book made me think at a mix betwin Twilight remove vampire and add kindagods) an fifty shades of grey what with the sex being the mane story line, but without graphic scene, it was wierd, could have use one or two real steamy sex scene.
Nice story overall

Hard to believe this is my 5th? 7th? Time reading this trilogy. Despite some character flaws and some definite relationship problems and red flags I still love this series and this book.

Arguably this is the best plot in the trilogy. The set up is great and the plot twist is extra twisty. This has been a favorite of mine for nearly 4 years and I can’t get enough.
