After the emotional turmoil that was ‘Jesse’ subsides, Charlie manages to find peace with her decision to leave him, despite her conscience telling her otherwise. Saying goodbye to the drama proves to be an easier task than she anticipated.

And although Charlie’s life continues to test her strength, her will, and her motivation to pick herself up and dust herself off, she carves a new path. Making positive changes in her life, she gets a new job, a new apartment, and a new guy; everything is nearly perfect. Nearly.

Hundreds of miles away, Jesse isn’t faring too well in their aftermath. But within his darkness, he finds a purpose and reconstructs himself with one goal in mind:

He needs to find his Charlie.

When I finished reading this book I swear I morphed in to a pissed off version of Serena Williams

And no my anger has not subsided. *Shrugs* In case you were wondering.

At the end of Progress, Charlie makes a decision that quite frankly left me speechless.

Mild-

Interrupted picks up immediately where book 1(Progress) ended. Jesse is devastated by Charlie's actions. Unable to handle her choice he makes a move of his own. And his move leaves Charlie on the receiving end as the one who is shocked and disheartened.

Life must go on
Charlie moves forward with a new job, a new apartment and a new man. A good man. Samuel is loving, sweet and H O T. He is in every way the opposite of Jesse.
He’s respectful
He’s attentive
He’s monogamous.

Samuel is DEFINITELY the kind of guy you bring home to meet the parents. Finally she is happy and in love with someone who can reciprocate those feelings.

So why the hell can’t she stop thinking about Jesse.

Jesse is alone and is not fairing to well. He eventually ends up on Charlie’s door step, literally. And she is not pleased by his presence.

 photo parkerhurley5_zpscabcbc2f.jpg

Not to be deterred Jesse makes it clear to her not only do they have unfinished business..they both still have feelings that neither can fight nor deny for that matter. The problem for them is the anger that they have both allowed to fester towards one another comes bubbling to the surface.

The thing about anger is it can also cause people to MATE not just HATE. *raises both eyebrows*

Charlie can’t fight the pull she feels that has her wanting him. She tries but what good is fighting when Jesse won’t allow her to.

“See, Charlie? It’s so much better when we just slow down. When it’s just you and me. Do you feel that? Everything else has stopped. We’re the only two people that matter.” ~Jesse

Just when I think things are going to go one way the script flips and I am left with..You guessed it.. A. MOTHERFUCKING. CLIFFHANGER.

My thoughts
First of all, Amy Queau what are you doing to me? This is SO unfair. I have no patience and I hate waiting.
I DO NOT think these two should be together. I just don’t. However I really don’t think that there was anything Charlie could have done because she feels this pull, this untamed urge to be with Jesse. And it’s scary because Jesse is just too unstable. I truly believe he is incapable of being what Charlie needs. His ass needs some serious therapy.

I NEVER pick a side and clearly draw a line when it comes to love triangles. I usually end up liking both males and won’t mind who the heroine picks. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER I CHOOSE A SIDE. I think Charlie should be with Samuel. But I have to wait for book 3 to find out.

WARNING: Reader beware if you prefer your hero and heroine to only have sex with one another that is not the case, in this book the hero and heroine are not in a relationship. This book contains cheating.

My Ratings

“It’s easy with you, Charlie. Because I know what I want, I know what I need, and I’m going to have to go home tonight alone knowing you’ll never be mine.”- Jesse

Interrupted is the second book in the Progress Series. I have been emotionally invested in the characters of Jesse & Charlie since reading Progress (Progress #1). Jesse & Charlie are two of my favorite characters in the entire book universe. I love how broken and damaged they are apart, okay and even together but they need each other in ways they do not even understand.

Interrupted picks up where Progress left off. Spoilers if you have not read Progress #1 Jesse and Charlie finally have slept together after a roller coaster of a friendship filled with emotions, sadness, and truth. Charlie couldn’t deal with what the future could endure with Jesse and his highs & lows and takes off afterwards to think. Jesse is hurt and determined to leave Charlie behind him and start new moving away with no plans to return.

Jesse leaves town without even a goodbye to Charlie leaving Charlie hurt, saddened, and confused. As she is dealing with Jesse walking out of her life she meets her knight and shinning armor, Samuel. Samuel is the most perfect, loving, nurturing man. He is study, with a good job, and ready to have a healthy relationship; the complete opposite of Jesse. Charlie & Samuel begin a wonderful relationship that is healthy, loving, and sweet.

description

See ladies, Samuel is totally swoon worthy!

What I loved most in Interrupted was the growth of Charlie’s character. She changed a lot in Progress but in Interrupted she matured and really did move on with Samuel when Jesse was gone for a year. She was happy and finally secure with herself and even her weight. It seemed like the first time Charlie was really Charlie and truly happy with her life. When Jesse returned it all changed. She went back to her old self, insecure and confused.

Once Charlie’s life is finally perfect Jesse returns to her life causing her perfect life with Samuel to crumble. Both Charlie & Jesse can’t let go of each other.

“You’re like a fucking rash. I can’t get rid of. I scratch and you get irritated. You get irritated and then you burn. And I’m stuck with this scabby rash on my face that everyone can see and I’m left standing, alone and humiliated again!” - Charlie

Author Amy Queau has done it again! She has taken my emotions all over the place. The Progress series seriously plays with every emotional chord in my body. I was pulled all over the place between all the characters. I want Charlie with Samuel because he is loving, she loves him, and they are great together but I also want Charlie with Jesse just because he needs her so bad, but does that mean you are suppose to be with someone, because they need you? I just can’t take this emotional overload… I want Samuel & Jesse to be with Charlie! There is a connection between Charlie and Jesse that you cannot question… it keeps the hope up he will change for her.

Interrupted does leave on a GIANT cliffhanger making you want to throw your Kindle against a wall... I know I wanted to! I NEED to know what will come of Charlie, Jesse, and Samuel. I am all over the place; I really NEED Jesse to finally step up and be a man for once. I really hope after finding the letter Charlie wrote him Jesse will finally be that man Charlie needs, because in all honesty I do want them together I just do not know if they should be together.

All I can say is "Wow", what an ending! Do I have to wait until Spring, 2014 for the last installment to this mind-blowing series?...lol!

***POSSIBLE SPOILERS PRESENT WITHIN REVIEW***

Raw, emotional, heartbreaking, loving are just some of the words that I can use to describe the second book to author, Amy Queau’s Progress series. Oh, my – just so riveting with ups and downs. Emotionally charged. High intensity. So many ways to describe only 284 pages of taxing upheaval. Wow! I really didn’t see revenge being a key factor between Jesse and Charlie. I mean, I knew that Jesse felt abandoned and was hurt beyone recognition from Charlie’s final decision to end their relationship. But, I didn’t think he had it in him to violate her trust and just take her so unattached and callous-like – especially when one knows that the feelings that he has for her are so deep. Damn! I think I was crying too. And, that doesn’t happen often when I’m reading a book. I don’t know if I still liked Jesse. He was just such an unpredictable ticking time bomb always hanging around waiting to explode. And, Charlie was way better than that. Charlie who always wanted to fix everyone. In reality, I thought that she must first fix herself. Her insecurities. Her sense of self-depreciation. So, Charlie leaves after finally sleeping with Jesse. And, he’s so angry. In fact, way beyond angry. He’s outraged and ready to detonate.

“Jesse was fueled with hatred. He had trusted the wrong one. After finally gaining the courage it took to confide in and respect someone, she left him. Just like the rest of them.” (pg. 4)

But, Charlie thinks she’s doing the right thing by leaving him because she believes she will never be what Jesse really needs. She feels guilty about it. He was a beautiful broken man that was begging her to stay so he could tell her what she meant to him, and she disappointed him by being so selfish. Jesse was just not ready for things that Charlie was at this point in her life. He would probably eventually reject her since he doesn’t “do” relationships.

“Love isn’t supposed to be the place you go, just because you have no place left to run.” (pg. 14)

Jesse realizes that he needs to leave. Not just his employment at the restaurant, but a living change of of scenery. The Crimson is looking for a Delivery Manager in Rye, New Hampshire, which would be an excellent place to start a new beginning away from the destructive relationship with Charlie.

“She had taken away the bullshit. She had successfully removed the misery from existence; it was so easy to forget when I was with her. And now it’s all back, and then some. If I don’t get out of here, I don’t know how much fight I have left in me.” (pg. 11)

Jesse leaves her without saying good-bye, and Charlie is so wounded and heartbroken, but maybe eventually everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was just not meant to be. But, that still doesn’t make her miss him any less – her best friend. She thinks about him every day. But, knows deep down that she’s made the right decision.

Enter Samuel. He comes into Charlie’s life like gangbusters, and is she ready for a new relationship when the one that she just got out of with Jesse is still so fresh in her mind? Sam is just so sweet! So cute! So charming! And, he likes her. Besides, he comes with no drama. Their relationship is tender and heartfelt. He understands her. Will they be able to keep this passionate romance together if and when Jesse comes back into the picture? Or will they be forced to re-evaluate the true meaning of their fascination with each other only to not be certain if it is exactly what both are searching for?

The author does a great job with moving the character development along. Just when I had Charlie all figured out and rooting for her “happily ever after” there’s another monkeywrench thrown in the equation to throw everything off. She did something so stupid and so out of character for her that I was extremely shocked and disappointed. Never did Charlie think that Jesse was so filled with revenge and hate towards her. But, I just chalked it up to just the effect that Jesse had on her and their relationship. Unfortunately, though, Charlie is left to her own demise. Just something more for the reader to have questions as to what will happen between the characters in book three. Will Sam still be around? Will Charlie and Jesse finally remain together as a couple? Or will Jesse’s manic depression be so out of control that something big will happen that finally seals the fate of his often downward-spiraling unpredictable behavior?

What an awesome read! So much heartbreak and turmoil amongst some powerfully compelling characters. The only one that I was basically sure of their intentions was Samuel. He seemed to be the most stable of the three. Charlie wasn’t unstable. She was just unsure of what and who she wanted. Who was essentially better for her is the big question. Samuel was safe. Jesse was unpredictable. Samuel was self-confident. Jesse was unreliable. Samuel was connected; existent. And, Jesse was broken; lost. Both men were beautiful in their own way. Jesse was her weakness, and he just seemed to consume her entire existence. Charlie had to chose. Let’s just hope that she’s made the right decision and that it’s precisely what she is looking for. Win or lose, though, ultimately somebody will get hurt.

“Does every woman feel this way? Are we always brought back to thoughts about the first man we’ll feel in l-no, strike that. Not love. It was never love. Was it? Okay, so maybe it was. But it was only because I didn’t know what the real stuff felt like. Jess was the closest I had ever been to falling for someone, so I guess instead of trying to guess what it was, I can just call it that.” (pg. 227)

As Charlie goes back and forth between both men, trying to figure out what is right for her, she tries to understand exactly what the past and present mean to her. The past is Jesse and his uncontrollable urges that always result in toxic consequences. And, the present is Samuel who just radiates stability and safety. But, when Charlie finally wrecks her new-found level of balance between emotional respectability and physical security, she questions what her real intentions could have been? Poor Charlie! Always trying to do everything right...well, she really messed up this time, and she treks to the cemetary. There’s just only one person that she can talk to for maybe some type of an answer. Some hope that she could possibly be redeemed. Forgiven. Try to make it right. Somehow, someway just trying to condone the disappointment in herself could maybe shed some light on why she hurt Samuel and their relationship.

I loved this book, and I can’t wait for the third and final installment of this trilogy! It was amazing! A great addition to this intoxicating series by talented author, Amy Queau...

*ARC provided for an honest review*

4.5 Stars :)

I read these books as a double whammy so that is how I am going to review it. First time I have read anything by this author and I must say I was not disappointed.

This is the story of Jesse and Charlie. Jesse is a sexy, bipolar, troubled manwhore in his late twenties with major trust issues. He will sleep with anything that is skinny, hot, walking and over 18...ewww :( Charlene or Charlie is a 24-yr old big....fat (however you want to qualify it) girl with some shitty self-esteem. She was terrorized all through school for her size so her self-esteem is in the toilet. She genuinely a  sweet and nice girl if she just saw herself a little better. She is still living at home with her parents, working in pizza parlor called Crimson and has never had boyfriend. She meets Jesse at Crimson. He is the delivery boy and she is the front hostess.

Progress is book 1 and is the story of Jesse and Charlie meeting and all the bullshit that happens in their dysfunctional “friendship”. She  figures out he is bipolar, has trust issues, anger issues and relationship issues. Enough issues for you? But with all that I could not help loving their very damaged but endearing relationship. He is just one big ball of issues but still very sexy in his own way.
Jesse treats Charlie like crap half the book and sweet the other half. How could I like a book where the male lead treats the female lead like shit the majority of the book? I have no effin’ idea but I did, I really really did :) He is so messed up but Amy does a great job of helping you understand why and makes you care about him in spite of the craziness. His attitude is not all because of him being bipolar and that understanding gives him “pass” some of the time.

I spent most of book 1 pissed at Charlie but mostly because I saw some of myself in her when I was younger. As a big girl,I understood her need to take the emotional abuse even when most would have told him to “go fuck himself” from the beginning. Throughout this book Charlie spends it dealing with her weight and by the end has lost a substantial amount of it. Jesse becomes that “extra” motivation she needs to lose the weight. As most girls she has the “if I lose enough weight he will pay attention to me” mentality. She grows and gets stronger emotionally as she loses the weight. It is a wonderful thing to experience with her.  After one very hot night with Jesse, Charlie finally decides to “man the fuck up” and Jesse decides to leave because of it....nice right? WTF?? That was me after reading the end :) Progress ends in a cliffhanger between Jesse and Charlie.....thank god book 2 is already out.

On to book 2....

Interrupted is book 2 in the Progress Series. It picks up where Progress leaves off. Jesse has moved to the east coast and while Charlie stays in her hometown. At first she decides she made a mistake in the way things ended with Jesse. She could have handled it better but the ass just picked up and left before she could do that. She does want to make things better but it  becomes clear that will never happen. Jesse makes no contact with her once he leaves. Finally, she puts on her “big girl panties” and starts getting her life in order.

She gets regular job, she moves out of her parents house and even gets a boyfriend. Oh Samuel....I love me some Sam *swoon*. He really is the sweetest, sexiest and nicest guy plus he is perfect for her.

He pulled a loose hair behind her ear. “You’re beautifully amazing, stunning, and mature woman, Charlie Johnson. And I can say without a doubt that I am completely in love with you.”  - Sam

Charlie has been dealt such a shitty hand in life that she does deserve the good guy. I wanted her to have the nice guy. So why am still sitting here waiting for Jesse??? Because Jesse is just perfect for her. They make such a fucked up beautiful couple.

“See, Charlie? It’s so much better when we just slow down. When it’s just you and me. Do you feel that? Everything else has stopped. We’re the only two people that matter.” - Jesse

Things are going well for a year. She is moving on. Charlie still thinks about Jesse but has accepted that some things are not meant to be but if it wasn't for him she would have never grown up. Great right? Yeah....til Amy comes and throws a wrench in that crap.

“You’re like a fucking rash. I can’t get rid of. I scratch and you get irritated. You get irritated and then you burn. And I’m stuck with this scabby rash on my face that everyone can see and I’m left standing, alone and humiliated again!” - Charlie

“It’s easy with you, Charlie. Because I know what I want, I know what I need, and I’m going to have to go home tonight alone knowing you’ll never be mine.”- Jesse

Jesse returns  and wants his Charlie back except that she isn't really his anymore. She has found her happy place with a great guy but that doesn't  stop those sparks from flying. Prepare yourself for another cliffhanger that will leave you saying “Really? REALLY AMY??? You gonna play me like that!.”

Overall conclusion to the Progress Series......when is book 3 coming out?? I need it like yesterday :) I need to know what happens to Jesse, Charlie and Samuel. I loved this set of books. Amy Queau really is wonderful writer and I recommend you pick these up. You will not be disappointed. They were a great unexpected surprise. I connected with all her characters. As much as I wanted to beat the shit out of Jesse, I want to hug him just as much. He truly cares for Charlie is his own way. Not everyone would get it but Charlie does. I loved that Charlie was broken and damaged but she had spunk. She had a backbone. Jesse may not have treated her great but she didn't just lie down and take it. She fought back. It made me root for her. That is always a good thing to me.

The author splits the books into sections. You have a set of chapters about Jesse, then a set about Charlie and then a set of Charlie and Jesse as a couple. This format really works for this story because if gives you  the ability to really get to know the two main characters well before you see them as a couple. My only issue really with this series are the covers. To me, they really do not do the series justice. These books are about two people that logically should not be together but somehow find their happiness in each other. It’s an unlikely love story. I think the covers should reflect that and would get people reading this wonderful series.

So, when I ended with Progress (book one of the series) my heart was breaking for Charlie and Jesse. I wanted them to be together so badly and I didn’t know if I would ever get over what had happened. Enter Samuel. Samuel is the “perfect guy”. He fills the void in Charlie’s life and makes her finally realize that she deserves the happiness that she had been lacking. I was completely over Jesse. Charlie’s world was calm. She had finally found her Prince Charming, so that made me very happy too. And then.....well let’s just say I was ready to throw my Kindle against the wall. The emotional roller coaster that was all throughout the first book started once again and it never stopped, not even at the end. I was beginning to question my own feelings that I had felt throughout this whole book. So I could totally get where Charlie was coming from. Would I have made the final choice that she did? I’m not really sure.

So now, I’m stuck at the top of this roller coaster until the third book releases, hoping and praying that Charlie made the right decision. These characters and both books of this series will remain in your heart and on your mind long after the last page. LOVED IT!!

Did you ever wonder what happened to Charlie after she left Jesse? I sure did. Interrupted picks up right where the first book in Progress series ended.

Charlie struggles with her decision to leave Jesse that night and feels remorse. Regretting her decision and feeling guilty, she secretly wants to reconcile. Only this time it is too late. Jesse asked to be transferred for a job in a different state. Charlie never gets a chance to see him or say goodbye. Broken hearted and lost, she is sunken in a turmoil of emotions. Just when she finds herself happy, life throws her another challenge.

Interrupted is a breath taking novel. If you liked Progress, then Interrupted will blow you away. Throughout the story, each character faces a life turning challenge. It is impossible to predict which decision is right. There are no winners or losers but people with passions, struggles, and weaknesses. The choices they make are the choices that will affect many. There is tragedy, drama, loss, betrayal, sex, and everything else you need to read your night away.

I thought it couldn´t get any worse. Oh boy, was I wrong. Interrupted ( Book #2 Progress Series) by Amy Queau gave me the worst emotional ass-kicking ever! The first book ( Progress ) was a beautiful and torturous read...but this one made me feel like someone slapped me across the face! Interrupted started off right where the last book ended. With Charlie leaving Jesse. And thank God she really did leave him.

I´m not saying it was the right choice......but in that moment, Charlie felt the need to leave and move on with her life, knowing if she stayed....they would never be able to break free from the disaster they created. Jesse leaves and Charlie thinks she´s the one to blame for Jesse´s departure. ( aaah....yes, I also think she´s the right person to blame..lol)

With Jesse now out of the picture, Charlie decides not to dwell on the past and move on. The poor woman was ruined enough for two life times anyways. When one fine day.....an old friend from college shows up at The Crimson Cellar to pick up pizza and notices the now to skinny Charlie. They never were bff´s in college but Sam ( the new hot guy..*grinning big over here!*) always had a special spot for Charlie. And still does! Charlie on the other hand struggles with the fact that Jesse left and isn´t really interested in diving into another relationship that might end up breaking her worse. Thank God Charlie collected her wits and agreed to go on a date with Sam!

HA! Let me tell you something.....normally, I´m the type to dwell on old stuff too, always thinking about the " what if´s" and the " should´ve, would´ve, could´ve ´s....but in this case....well, actually while reading this book, I was totally ready for Charlie to find some permanent happiness in her life! After all that poor woman went through, she really deserved some light at the end of the tunnel. And that happened! She developed feelings for Sam. She actually loved him. * still grinning people!*....Charlie took her life in her own hands and started to live.

Finding an apartment and another job, she was ready to make some new memories instead of reliving the old ones. Sam turned out to be the perfect guy and Charlie felt all the good things in life...

....until the disaster began once again. Of course, I should have known the cruel author would wipe my fat grin off my face. As if fate didn´t like Charlie being happy, the poor woman had to go through some brutal situations. I sobbed.....I was really bawling my eyes out at some scenes. The author has an uncanny ability to make you feel what Charlie went through. Amy Queau put so much effort in the dramatic scenes that I could actually visualize them perfectly. The heartbreak, the loss, the love Charlie felt was devastating! But Sam was always there for her. Standing by her side and never leaving her no matter how bad life got. * sigh*

Despite the fact that I had strong feelings for Jesse in the first book, I didn´t miss him WHAT SO EVER! Not after I saw what Sam was able to give Charlie. A stable relationship.
And then BAM! BOOM! PANG! He´s back! Yes, Jesse decides to come back to town and get in touch with Charlie again. My first thought was: " Oh just stay away! " .There was catastrophe bound to happen....and it did happen! Charlie was ripped out of her normal life and sucked back in the past. Back to Jesse and his bipolar disorder. Charlies world was turned upside down and she started to question her choices, her relationship with Sam, and Jesse. Could it get worse? Yes. It could. And it did.

I was emotionally drained once again. * I´ve stopped grinning....I´ve got no reason to anymore*.......All the good Charlie had going on was going down the drain and Jesse could´ve cared less. All he wanted was Charlie back. That made me mad. How dare he come back and try to plant mysery in her life again?

But was Charlie really miserable seeing Jesse after so long? Did they resolve their unfinished business? Or will she give him a propper ass-kick and end up marrying Sam?

Haha....I couldn´t even tell you that even if I wanted too. I don´t know the answers to those questions either, because the author decided to end this book with the most devastating chliffhanger ending EVER! So, there will be a third book!

All I can say is that I highly recommend Interruped to anyone who is into romance! Gut wrenching, awfully torturous and never ending worrying is written big in this book! I will promise you that this book will not leave you alone for a whle! You will love it and hate it! You will want more.

The Divas are giving Interruped by the amazing Amy Queau 5 out of 5 Champagne glasses...

**KIM'S REVIEW**

*3.5 Stars (first half) - 4 Stars (second half)*

“Nothing about that night was innocent. Nothing about it was right. Including my decision to leave him.”

Interrupted picks up right where Progress left off. Charlie has left Jesse after their first time together and Jesse is beyond livid about it. He’s pissed, filled with hate and feels like he trusted the wrong person.

“Who just gets up and leaves when someone is about to bare their fucking soul?”

He decides to leave Minnesota and start new in New Hampshire.

“She has taken everything from me. I’ve got nothing left to lose.”

Charlie is completely second guessing what she did but it seems to be a matter of two little to late. Before Jesse left for New Hampshire, she tried to call and look for him but she was never able to find him. Now she’s trying to move forward with her life and runs into an old college schoolmate, Samuel, at work one night. At first Samuel’s intentions weren’t exactly pure but he came clean right away and they decided to take things as slowly as they possibly could.

“Slow. Damn it, this is going to be hard.”

A good portion of this book is about Charlie and Sam and I felt a little disappointed at first. I know Sam is the safe option but I really wanted to see what would go down between her and Jesse. By the end of book 1, I was definitely Team Jesse and was really rooting for him. I would’ve liked to have him more in this story, even if it was while he was in New Hampshire. However, I did start to fall for Sam. How could you not? He genuinely is a sweetheart.

“Are my knees working? Everything feels like rubber. Holy shit, this guy can kiss.”

Sam goes to NY for a business trip and guess who finally comes home?! Yup, Jesse! And now that he’s back, you know things are bound to get ugly. Will Charlie stay true to Sam or will her feelings for Jesse win?

“Two men, both are occupying my heart and my body. Both are equally beautiful in their unique ways.”

I’m sitting here typing this with huge knots in my stomach. When Jesse came back sh*t got real. I love angst but boy does my stomach hurt!

“Everyone is brought into our lives for a reason. Whatever he is, whatever your story, he has shaped you to be who you will be for your future.”

I really did like Sam but there’s just something about Jesse. I think my problem is I always root for the underdog and I really want to see him come out on top. Yes he has some really serious issues but he needs help and I’m struggling with how I feel right now. I don’t think everyone will see it this way but Charlie came off selfish to me. While I do understand while she feels the way she does, I also don’t understand why she keeps trying to push him away and not give him a real chance? Just as he’s finally ready to open up to her in the last book, she decided that was it. And yes we get an explanation why she did in this book but I feel like after you’ve pined for someone for so long how do you just drop them like that? She spent more time listening to her head instead of her heart. All her inner thoughts are about how she wants him, misses him, etc. but when she actually talks that’s not what comes out of her mouth. I’m really interested to see what happens next.

“Have you ever felt so high…that when you came down you broke inside? Not really knowing how to put the pieces back together?”

“It depends on the day. Some day there’s more sun than others.”

**I received and ARC in exchange for an honest reviwe**

Are you ready for the emotional rollercoaster of a sequel to Progress? Interrupted (The Second Book in The Progress Series) by Amy Queau picks up exactly where Progress ended. After the events of the first book, we find Charlie and Jesse going their separate ways. While, Charlie moves on seemingly quickly, Jesse has a harder time. I give this book 5 stars because it will make you laugh, cry, shake your head and believe in "normal" love again!

I view this book as Charlie's coming of age story. Her relationship with Jesse has made her realize things about herself and she starts changing her life for the better. She gets a better job, moves out of her parents' house, and starts a healthy relationship with a man named Samuel. Charlie and Sam's relationship develops throughout the middle of the book. Samuel is everything that Jesse couldn't be to Charlie and their relationship is so genuine and real. Ms. Queau does a fantastic job of allowing us to fall in love with the story of Samuel and Charlie that made me question my conviction for a happy ending for Jesse and Charlie. Sam and Charlie go through the normal bumps in the road that every couple has with some added twists, of course.

While Charlie's world is progressing so well, Jesse's is falling apart. After months apart Jesse re-enters Charlie's life only to once again bring chaos and an instant attraction. The pull between those two is just as strong in Interrupted as it was in Progress. Jesse is Charlie's weakness and that comes through so well in the writing. But, will the entrance of Jesse back into Charlie's life cause more chaos, or can they learn to be just friends with their undeniable attraction to each other?

The beginning of this book starts out going into minor details and skipping forward. This was a little distracting in the beginning, but once I read the entire book, I understood the reason for this. Keep on reading! It only gets better and more emotional. But be warned, you may want to have a box of tissues next to you when you read this book. I can't wait for the third book in The Progress Series to come out. Charlie and Jesse's story is one of those stories that you will never forget!

**I was lucky enough to beta read for this lovely woman and get an advanced copy of her wonderful novel **

Interrupted follows on from the aftermath that is Charlie and Jessie's relationship in Progress. The two have gone in seperate directions and are leading very different lives. Whilst most of the story features around Charlie and not Jessie, we do get glimpses into his life and how he is dealing with 'life after Charlie.' (not too good I should add.)

Charlie has moved on from Jessie and is finally in a loving relationship and is developing into a confident and happy woman until her world comes crashing down around her. (I'm not even going to give oyu a clue as to what that is!)
She learns to deal with the hand that she has been dealt and once more picks herself up and dusts herself off, and just as she is realising her dreams, guess who turns up? Yup, you guessed it! Mister tornado of emotions himself!

Well you can imagine how well that turns out can't you? Charlie is about as happy as a box of rocks, but despite all this Jessie seems to still have a hold on her. Is it love? Is it hate? Is it infatuation? I don't know, and if I'm honest I don't think Charlie fully does either.

There's a whole heap of conflicting emotions and relationship issues that follows that you just have to read to fully grasp.
I felt anger, sadness, happiness, frustration. Just like with Progress, Amy Queau has wrote a compelling and original book, however she seems to have truly found her groove now and her writing is so much clearer than Progress.

I really enjoyed this book, and feel honoured that Amy let me read it and give my thoughts on it.
I can't wait for number three in the series.

Me throughout the second half of this book...

sad gif photo: Olivia sad tumblr_lldvibUbzq1qa4ncw.gif

My God! So emotional!

This starts off slow and right where progress left off.

There is so much drama in poor Charlie's life, she works hard to make it all work and to find happiness in herself.

She has everything she could ever want and although it took a long time to get it she has it all.

That's when Jesse comes back, in book one I loved his angsty approach, I found him hot and desirable...

Book two I hate him, I just want Charlie to be happy.

We find out many more answers to questions left open in progress.

The end... The bloody end! Charlie, I could have beat her with a mallet, I was in shock and my heart was racing.

I hope that a happy ever after happens in book three; for everyone.

I recommend this when it is officially released, you may want a lot of tissues at hand though.

Amy... Get writing, book three is needed :p especially reading one chapter of it... Tease ;)

Thanks so much for asking me to beta read, Amy. I wouldn't change a thing! Epic.

I was lucky enough to have the chance to beta read Interrupted for Amy Queau and can I firstly say wow.

Wow. What a wonderful read. If you haven't read the first book in this series, I suggest you go and buy it now. You won't regret it.

Interrupted picks up where Progress left off, so it was very easy for me to jump back into the story.

I don't want to go into too much detail, but I love Charlie and throughout this book all I find myself wanting is for her to be happy. I love her humour, her awkwardness and the fact that she has flaws. She's not perfect, yet she doesn't focus on her imperfections which makes you want to root for her all the more.

Interrupted pulled every emotion out for me. I was happy, sad, angry, laughing, crying...What a rollercoaster.

This was definitely one of my top reads for 2013.

First thought. If you haven't read Progress, you need to before you read Interrupted! The story won't flow if you don't. As the 2nd book in this trilogy, I expected some twists and turns. Charlie continues to define herself, which makes me very happy. She is still smoking, which makes me unhappy. (I realize that this is a minor issue, but she has done so much to get healthy I was hoping she would kick this habit!) Jesse continues to struggle in his life. He isn't doing much to improve things, but I keep hoping that he will! I found myself hoping that some of the secondary characters would step in to help these two, but that isn't happening thus far. I can only hope that the 3rd book will resolve these unfinished issues! 4 out of 5! {babusbookshelf.blogspot.com}

In Interrupted after Charlie leaves Jesse (read Progress!) Charlie is who she is meant to be. Charlie grows (up). Charlie gets a new job, an apartment and is in a stable relationship.
Interrupted is a different read from Progress. The characters continue to change, grow and develop but now you know their history and it's just a matter of where they go from here.
Interrupted is still a book that brings out emotions in you (yep, I wanted to strangle someone at one point) and I might have almost cried once.
I definitely recommend continuing this journey to find out what happens to Charlotte and Jesse.

Did that seriously just end that way!!!!! I am at a complete loss for words....this section of the series grabbed me and took hold of all my emotions. Charlie, Charlie, Charlie!!! What is going on?? This book has given me a book hangover, my emotions are completely raw! Amy Queau has really pulled this series together with this middle book. Book 1 left me scratching my head trying to figure out the dynamics of these 2 people and Book 2 left me rooting for one person over the other and being angry at some of the decision being made. Off to find out how this ends.....

My Favorite Lines:

The entire prologue.

“‘Remember me,’ she said. Oh, and don’t worry, Charlie, I have no intention of ever forgetting.”

“Everyone is brought into our lives for a reason. Whatever he is, whatever your story he has shaped you to be who you will be for your future.”

“I want to giggle all the time. I want to fall asleep watching Star Trek with him at night, and wake to him showering me with kisses every morning. It’s silly, all of it. But I’m not going to deny myself any of it anymore, now that I know how it feels and that I’m worthy of having it.”

“I remember thinking that day he came to the restaurant that his timing was horrible. But in hindsight, I can say that his timing was absolutely perfect. I suppose that’s how life works. People are brought into our lives for different reasons, at different times, in order to teach us something: the things we’re supposed to learn.”

“She had left the storm of adolescence behind her and she was moving forward, but she still carried the regret of what she did to Jess that night.”

What I Thought:

What is there to even say, after you stay up way too late reading a book because leaving it until morning just isn’t a possibility?

I want to start off this review by saying something about Amy Queau. Now, I’ve been a writer for about two seconds and am far from an expert, and I’ve read a handful of self-published books by really, really amazing authors, but Amy Queau is in a league all her own.

I’m a character reader. Meaning, when I read a book, it’s all about the characters. If the characters aren’t good and the plot is great, I’m lost. It’s all about the people in the story, and that’s where Amy Queau truly excels. Every single character in this book is well thought-out and unique, whether they’re a major player or a small role. They’re incredibly real, and I love all of them so much; even the ones I kind of hate.

I liked Progress. A lot. So much that I changed my rating a few days after reading it, because it stuck with me. But Interrupted? I’d have to say it’s hands down one of the best novels I’ve ever read. I don’t critique writing style as you can tell by all of my reviews, but this novel was perfectly written in every possible way. It flowed so smoothly, there was no way I was putting it down again for more than a few minutes until it was done.

I loved Charlie before, and she’s only gotten better in this book. She’s such an amazing character. I feel that a lot of times, whether in books or movies or whathaveyou, strong women tend to come off as rough and unlikable, but not Charlie. She’s incredibly strong, but you can still sense her weaknesses. She’s amazing.

I don’t reveal spoilers in my reviews, but I’ll say this: I smiled like an idiot at the ending. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but it was so, so much better.

Apparently the third book won’t be out until February. I’m not sure I’ll be able to survive those long months until I find out what happens to these characters, but I’ll try my best.

4.75/5

Okay so we all know that Jesse is, well, an ass. At least from book 1. However, I did feel my heart get pierced at the end when it felt like he became vulnerable and opened up a little bit only to have Charlie walk out on him at the end. I get it though, she was scared that he didn't mean it and come morning he would be throwing her out. Do I wish she had stayed to find out for sure his next move that morning, sure. But if wishes were kisses and all that jazz. Charlie made her choice and book #2 here picks up the pieces.

Unable to stay around Charlie after her leaving him, Jesse gets the heck out of dodge and life goes on. Sam comes into Charlie's life and I have to say he seems so wonderful. I couldn't help but fall for him and that shocked me. Normally first guy in a series I am rooting for all the way, hoping and wishing for them to work things out. Not here, in this book I am finding that Sam is a balm to my nerves and seems to be the best thing for Charlie. I really saw her grow with Sam in her life. So much happens though and it is just amazing to see how strong Charlie is.

So for most of the book we learn about Sam and Charlie and don't hear much of Jesse but that changes as his story is brought back to us around halfway. We learn he still isn't doing well and the one thing on his mind still is Charlie. After much time apart Jesse and Charlie's worlds collide again and oh boy.

And then, then the shit hits the fan and it would seem the world crumbles around all of them and I am left there trying to catch my breath as I say "no way" and "oh my god." And how it ends?!?! Oh my gosh you will be so glad the third book is out because all you will want is to dive in to find out where this crazy world leads to next.

This series has left me flipping and flopping and just so very attached to the characters. These character are so real and the depth into Jesse's mind me go is again, so very real.

I freaking loved this book, the characters, the everything.

One quote that I thought was so perfect for Jesse and Charlie from this book:
You're like a fucking rash I can't get rid of. I scratch and you get irritated. You get irritated and then you burn. And I'm stuck with this scabby rash on my face that everyone can see and I'm left standing, alone and humiliated, again!" - Charlie

If you have read Progress then keep reading!

I was devastated with how Progress (Book 1) ended that I couldn't wait to read book 2- Interrupted. At the end of Progress Charlene and Jesse finally take their relationship further that just friendship and Charlene walks away. She thinks that it is the right thing to do for him but it not only devastates Jesse but it messes up Charlene also. Jesse decides that he can't be in the same place that Charlene is and decides to move away. He transfers to another job and leaves with out saying anything. While he is away Charlene moves on and finds someone new. She is quickly falling for this new guy, Samuel but still misses Jesse. She can't completely let him go from her life but she has to move on. Charlie and Sam make their lives great for each other and Charlie is really happy. She has a new job, new responsibilities and a new love. There is some horrible things that Charlie has to go through but she makes it through with her family's help.

On the other side of the story is Jesse. His bipolar disease isn't helping him at work and he is still heart broken over Charlie. He doesn't know what to do. He can't seem to do well with his job, his womanizing ways have returned and he can't get Charlene out of his mind. He has to make the decision to stay there and try to do better or to just move back but have to be able to deal with being around Charlie again.

I loved this story as much as the first one. I was getting so frustrated in parts and was really pulling for Charlie, Sam, and Jesse. They have to deal with so much and I had no clue how the story was going to end up. I was twisting and turning all over the place. A must read!

I was excited when Amy contacted me to review Interrupted. I needed to know what happened between Jesse and Charlie. Luckily, Interrupted picks up right where Progress left off.

While Progress was good, this one is even better. I devoured this book. By the time I got to end, I had felt a hundred different things. And of course, I was left with the question I’ve had since the beginning… What is going to happen with Jesse and Charlie?! Even though the ending is a giant cliffhanger, the book is such a satisfying read.

One of the reasons I enjoy this series so much is the fact that it’s so relatable. I can connect to Charlie in so many ways. She’s real and I understand and feel for her. I’ve known (and dated) a Jesse or two in my past. It’s scary in some ways how much I can relate to the series. I’ve definitely become emotionally invested in the series and I cannot wait to see how it ends.

I would have given this book 2 star but gave it 3 cause of the ending. The end completely blew me off. This book is more of Charlie's book than of Jess and I did not like it.A new character Samuel who was introduced as Charlie's would be boyfriend in the 1st book was given alot more importance than my liking and so it didn't work for me.He was cute, good etc but as I am a fan of Jess I was very disappointed to read about Charlie and Samuel's love story.Thank God for the ending it was completely worth reading.Cant wait to read the next one.

Fate brought me here!, October 12, 2013

I found this series by fate. I was browsing for a new series to read, when i stumbled with the first book in the series, read the synopsis and bought it right away.

It was very entertaining. I was surprise because, you can tell, how easy was for the author to coordinate and lay out all situations. It was an easy read, however, not easy enough for my heart.

I read them all in a row. Didn't stop much! It was a good series. I believe the next book is coming out soon! so take the chance.

These characters my paper heart just shreds for them. Charlie is such a beautiful person gah how my heart ached for her and the situation she found her heart in.She had so much love to give but needed to love herself more before she was capable. Jesse that man who has been cut so deep by life and so afraid to really let anyone in shew I wanted to hug him - punch him and hug him again. Then enter Sam - Samuel perfection and all that Charlie should want and need. 3 words come to mind - Choices Chances and Consequences. .. gah what a beautiful mess

The second book introduced Sam into Charlie’s life thus forming a love triangle in the series. Sam was so different from Jesse. He was the perfect guy for Charlie, loving, romantic, sweet and he made her happy and feel secure emotionally. However, Jesse’s return caused havoc to Charlie’s life. Their undeniable pull to each other totally derailed Charlie’s life. I enjoyed this series with all the drama and the anticipating of not knowing how things would end up.

Hmmmmm I was confused at times because I felt like there was disconnect between book 1 and this book given I believe the author rewrote book 1 in the first person. There were aspects of this book that I felt I was supposed to be familiar with but I wasn’t and wonder if it was something lost in translation in the rewriting of book 1.

Still I liked the continuation of the story and I knew things would go this way after the characters took a cooling off break from the blazing inferno ending in the previous book. Still an emotional and angsty roller coaster ride. And can’t wait to read the final book.

Read more reviews like this at http://lovelybooksblog.blogspot.com!

After how Progress ended I absolutely could not wait to get my hands on Interrupted! I was excited to see that this novel starts right where the previous novel left off and didn’t start a few days afterwards with a flashback of what happened that night. This novel really threw me for a loop, I wasn’t expecting any of the events that happened and that’s what made this novel such a fantastic read. Queau creates such developed characters with such strong personalities that it’s nearly impossible to dislike them or their story!

Charlie changed and grew so much as a character in this novel. She went from being a scarred and insecure girl to a stronger and more independent woman; she finally begins to let go of some of the things that were holding her down and embrace herself for who she is. The majority of the novel focused on Charlie with only a short section devoted to Jesse. I was a little disappointed to not hear more about him but in the end it was what the story needed and when Jesse makes a reappearance we get to learn more about what happened to him while he was gone. As much as Jesse frustrates me there is still something about him that I can’t help but love, he always has his moments where he just says or does the right thing and maybe, like Charlie, I just want to fix him.

I’m not one for love triangles, I never have been and I don’t think I ever really will be. However, Queau was really able to make the love triangle in this novel work. One of the biggest reasons I hate love triangles is because there is always one character I love and one character I hate; in Interrupted I found myself faced with two characters that I really liked. Sam is the perfect love interest, devoted to Charlie and drama-free his cute dates made me smile and, even though I didn’t think I would, I ended up loving him toward the end. Jesse on the other hand is always a wreck and half the time he and Charlie don’t even get along, but at the same time there is something beautifully tragic about him and their relationship. The more I read the more conflicted I felt, which made the love triangle work perfectly!

The biggest problem I had with the first novel was the third section, told from the point of view of an observer I felt that I just couldn’t connect with the characters the same way that I had in the first two parts. However, Interrupted didn’t have this problem at all! Even though the novel was set up the same way Queau’s writing has improved so much that during the section told from the observer’s point of view I didn’t get the alienated feeling that I got before. The novel flowed much smoother between the transitions in perspectives and I really liked how instead of going from Charlie to Jesse to the observer Queau mixed it up a little and started with Jesse then went to Charlie and went back to Jesse before the final observer section. Interrupted was organized so much more effectively than Progress that, in the end, I think I liked this novel even more than the first because of how well everything flowed.

The Progress series just keeps getting better and better and I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on the next installment! Fans of realistic fiction definitely need to check out this series. There is no doubt that readers will no doubt fall in love with Charlie and Jesse and find themselves desperate to read the rest of their story. I highly, highly, highly recommend this series!
