Welcome to the world of Shanoria, Kingdom of the dragons where Alyxa is the daughter of the Dragon Charmer.
Join Alyxa for an exciting day in her life with dragons, danger and a hint of magic.
This is a prequel introduction to the series 'Dragon Charmers' and is written to compliment the series. It is written from Alyxa's viewpoint whereas the series is written from Logan's viewpoint.
Freely available from the author on Smashwords, thank you very much!
This reminded me right off the bat of my favourite Anne MacCaffrey novel, The White Dragon, which I have read and re-read many times as a teenager.
The writing flows along nicely and the descriptions are vivid. You get sucked into Alyxa's world right away. The story is very short though, really only a very brief look into the world of the author's dragon books. Could be great fun for kids and young teens.
This short story has been stuck on my Kindle for a while. It’s not really a story, just a day in the life of a character featured in a subsequent series. Sweet and genteel, with some good ideas on dragon husbandry, but too summarised to read clearly, this vignette has a rough draft feel about it which makes it less than a good read. I might check out the series but it’s not a priority.
I quite enjoyed this short story and will definitely read the rest of the series as I'm curious to know what happens. Alyxa seems like the type of girl to find herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and it already seems like she gets into a bit of trouble from just this short story. I quite enjoy reading about characters who find themselves in these situations, as no one's life is perfect and I enjoy watching them overcome obstacles.
As for the dragons,I think they are well described. Although, dragons stealing children is done often and felt a bit cliche to me. However, I can understand why it was needed and I probably would have taken the same route. One thing I haven't read is what happens with Dragon eggs and to avoid spoilers I won't mention it, but I thought that was awesome and it had my attention right away.
Alyssa heard her father calling for her as she raced to the other side of the farm. The Dragon eggs were hatching. Her dad said here's was a stone and not going to hatch. She begged her dad to give it more time. Her dad agreed because it was her birthday. He gave Alyxa her late mother's Dragon stone. She showed her friend Logan the Dragon stone. They were swimming when alarms went off that the Red dragons were coming. Her necklace came loose. She was not about to loose it. The necklace was found. She went home to check on her egg. It had moved and had turned blue. The little Dragon peeped out. Yay! Now I must read the whole series. This was such a good story. I loved it.
This is a nice and charming little introduction to the series. The world it is set in is really brilliant, and I'd love to see where it goes from there! I only wish that Alyxa - Dragon Charmer was just a teeny bit longer! Because the moment I was completely hooked into it, it ended. *laughs*
I guess that means I gotta read the rest of the series. ;)
I am also reading an additional Dragon series called Wings of Fire all of you should read it, it's a very exciting series but l don't think this series might be as exciting as Wings of Fire but since I haven't read the whole series don't be mad at me if you take this offensive
An interesting take on dragons, and interesting characters. As an introduction to the writer's world, this works well, and the writing's pretty good, too. There's just not a lot to this short story and I can't help wishing the writer had taken the story further.
Though not my usual theme I really loved it!!I read only a sample but what I read was awsome. Another series to continue and another kindle gem.God bless Amazon!!
This was so short that it's not even really a story - more like a lengthy vignette. I'll probably know more about whether I actually liked it when I read the first full-length story in the series.
