Whether you need a compassionate reminder, gentle reassurance, something to hope for, guidance towards growth and healing, or the tender hand of acceptance ‘Take What You Need’ delivers. Exploring themes of love, connection and self-acceptance this collection of aphorisms and essays breaks down the journey to peace and provides a roadmap to get there.
“You will have to learn to communicate to listen, not just to be heard.”
“Instead of invalidating your hardships by focusing only on the silver lining, could you alternatively accept that things are allowed to just be terrible from time to time?
Could you take a break from the temptation to put a positive spin on things? Could you recognise that part of self-compassion involves allowing yourself to grieve what could have been and accepting how painful this current reality is?
Acknowledging that this outcome was not what you wanted, won’t dash all chances at hope, but it will grant you the opportunity to truly process and heal.”
Take What You Need is the latest offering from one of my most favorite authors. This is different from her previous poetry books, in that there is a mix of poetry and short essays. Zara calls this “A handbook to soothe your spirit”, and this is exactly what this collection offers. It is common sense, inspirational writings to help and uplift their spirit when life throws many different difficulties and obstacles. This is a beautifully written book, and I anticipate that my copy will be well read. I highly recommend this!
