WolfPack Delta #1

Wolf's Heart

Rate this book
Wolfpack Delta gave Ryden Coulter’s life purpose after the attack that not only changed his life, but destroyed his only hope for happiness. While the woman he left behind is always on his mind, he knows that his new-found strength lies in the power of his wolf, not in his heart…or so he thinks.
Being born for the sole purpose of saving another’s life isn’t quite the way one imagines coming into the world, but Carlee O’Shannon knows no other reality. The one time she ever opened her heart, she lost it all. Vowing to never let another person hurt her that way again, she’s unprepared for Ryden to come back into her life.
Together again, out of necessity rather than desire, Ryden and Carlee will be forced to fight not only for their lives, but the lives of Ryden’s unit. Secrets and danger lurk beneath the surface, and it will take more than the strength of a lone wolf and the woman he loves to fight their way out.

3.5 stars... I've been reading a lot of books that were solid but just had something missing from them. That was the case with this one. I really enjoyed the story line. The main character was a little annoying at times, but I got that she was quirky and supposed to be like that. It was steamy and I am definitely interested to reading more from these authors. I don't think I could not enjoy in some way anything that includes wolf-lovin!!!!!!!!!!!!

Book Review originally published here: http://www.iheartreading.net/book-tou...

I’m usually not a big fan of alpha males, or werewolves, but Wolf’s Heart is a definite exception. Even though Ryden is an alpha male, he doesn’t act like a douchebag (which is usually my problem with alpha males). Carlee was my favorite character though, she’s sassy, she’s intelligent, brave and sometimes surprisingly funny.

Back to the story. Carlee is an FBI agent working on a case that may threaten her life. She’s never had much luck in life. The sole reason her parents wanted her born was so she could save her brother’s life – but when that failed, they rejected her. When she finally fell in love with someone, he broke her heart. Now she’s devoted her life to helping others, but this time around, it gets her in big trouble.

Surprisingly, her ex-boyfriend, Ryden, shows up to save the day. He’s a werewolf and an Elite Delta soldier. He never wanted to hurt Carlee when they were together (yep, he’s the guy who broke her heart) but he had no other choice. Now he’s saved her, but the troubles aren’t over yet. Ryden and Carlee will have to fight for their own lives, and the lives of Ryden’s unit.

I loved the combination of a kick-ass FBI agent and an alpha male werewolf. Both Carlee and Ryden have strong personalities, and they’re not afraid to fight what they believe in. Unfortunately they don’t see how well they match, and spend most of the time bickering and worrying about the past and getting hurt again.

This wasn’t just an insta-romance, and the characters definitely developed throughout the book. The plot was intriguing too, and there were plenty of hot romantic scenes to keep the reader entertained.

Highly recommended to fans of erotic paranormal romance.

5 Breakthrough Stars!

Oh Ryden, you can shift for me anytime!

I must admit, I have this little thing for Alpha Males. Make him an Alpha Wolf and I am done! DONE I tell you, and Ryden makes me swoon.
This dual writing pair have now etched their way into my must read authors and if you love, or even like a bit, paranormal/shape shifters/romance this book will do. Brilliantly written in a setting where the reader is thrust into a world that resembles an action packed, suspenseful “who done it” FBI movie, mixed with some pretty HOT romance and I was stuck in my reading chair never wanting the story to end. Thank the entire wolf’s bane not in my possession that there will be a book 2 because I NEED MORE!
From the jump, you will meet Carlee. Smart, quirky, shy with a heavy dose of responsibilities, your typical FBI forensic scientist who has a past that keeps coming to bite her. Then our Delta Leader Ryden, the man who left and became something more but is inexplicably connected to Carlee. When their lives intersect it’s both of their jobs to keep each other safe. Hold on from here because this well written story goes fast with a good amount of details that doesn’t leave you behind.

Oh Carlee, is a sassy little thing, "Ryden, I need to pee, and I don't think you can do that for me." Her heart raced again as he gently picked her up and carried her to the bathroom. When he placed her feet on the cold linoleum, he stood there to make sure she didn't face plant onto the floor before he let go." I mean sass sometimes doesn't cover it, "you a**, you drugged me!" She slapped at his sleeping form, startling him awake. "I told you, Ryden, I did not want to be drugged. Who the hell do you think you are?" No one effs with his woman, "his body seemed to tremble with anger and his teeth clenched as he spoke. "Just seeing the marks on your body makes me wish I could kill them again. No one, Buttercup, no one will touch you again. No one effs with what's mine." I loved this book, it was such an adventure to read.

Delta Unit - Seven men and one woman led by Ryden Coulter. This series about them and those who touch their lives and heal their souls.

Carlee O'Shannon is an agent for the FBI who has devoted her life to solve the puzzles of the crime victims and evidence comes through her lab. Knowing she was conceived and born for the soul purpose of saving her brother's life and rejected by her parents when her bone morrow was rejected as a suitable match. Ryden Coulter grew up with a childhood of neglect and abuse. Now as an adult he is an Elite Delta soldier. The two fell in love and completed one another. Then Ryden broke Carlee's heart by cutting her out of his life completely without giving her any reason. Circumstances have brought them together again. Their lives and those of Ryden's team depend on what they do.

I am in love... I am just not sure with which one yet. Cam Cassidy and Ruelle Channing have created such fantastic and realistic characters that I think it is easy to fall in love with them. Ryden and Carlee are both alpha personalities with an ingrained need to to take care of those they consider themselves responsible for. Yet they seem to be unable to see what is right in front of them where there personal lives are consider. Which with there backgrounds it is not surprising.

This is the book you hate to start when going to bed thinking you will only read the first chapter to unwind a bit so your tired body will sleep. The reason for that is...once opened you will not be putting the book down. A mistake I made at one in the morning. At three in the morning I was yawning so much and had my eyes propped open with toothpicks because my mind would not let me wait till later to find out what happened to Carlee, Ryden and all the other characters. If this is authors Cam Cassidy and Ruelle Channing first attempt at a paranormal romance, then all I can say is I can not wait to see what they do for an encore. Now, when will that be do you suppose?

Considering this is a first novel one would expect it to have moments where it lags or a scene is forced, but this one does not on a scale of one to ten it deserves at lease an eleven. Pick up a copy and judge for yourself.

I really do enjoy a good paranormal that comes filled with romance and adventure. The double pleasure with this novel is you might say it is also a second chance at love being they have been together before but one of them threw it away to protect the one he loved. Carlee has become puzzle solver immersing herself into the FBI crime lab becoming a forensic scientist after having her heart slammed shut by Ryden leaving her behind when he left for the service than dumping her. Right off when I see the word FBI I know I am in for a good intriguing storyline if written right. Nothing better to get the blood flowing then mystery and danger in the mix with paranormal on top of that. Inject it with romance and I have found my sweet spot to sit to journey somewhere with these two characters to see if mysteries will be solved that involve murder with it. I learn right away what happened also with Ryden and why he walked away from Carlee even though she is always center most in his mind. He is way changed not the same man she knew for sure but just like a man to think the one who loves you won't understand. After being brutally beaten by someone who poses as her lover/co-worker on the run Carlee goes but ends up right into Ryden who then realizes he can no longer run from her. Protecting her also at all costs cause he realizes also she is his mate becomes no one in his sight with this bringing the two of them together with help from trusted mates of his to rid her life of the danger that has entered. This also causes them to sit their sights on him also because of what he is. Lots of fascinating secrets revealed with the answers at times under some noses. Love to read about the heat between a wolf and his mate with the intensity that a good writer can give it comes forth in this one as these two rebuild a relationship which their love for each other becomes really strong not neither can deny no longer. Gripping adventure on the edge of your seat reading contained forwith in this novel to go along with the heat this packs. This author brings it all together with a most satisfactory ending that leaves you glad you indulged and entered once again into the paranormal world. Received a arc for a honest review.

The first book in the WerewolfPack Delta series is a thrilling action packed read that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. Ryden Coulter and Carlee O’Shannon are forced to fight not only for their lives, but for the lives of Ryden’s unit. With danger around every corner and secrets lurking beneath the surface, it will take the more than the strength on one lone wolf and the woman he loves to fight their way out.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps the adrenaline pumping with lots of action, suspense, drama, secrets, betrayals and romance. The authors bring the story to life with well written scenes and details and well orchestrated and believable actions scenes that make the reader feel as if they are part of the story. The strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction between Ryden and Carlee burns hotter than the explosions set by the bad guys and the sex scenes scorch the reader with blazing hot intensity, but the relationship starts off on the wrong foot because of their past relationship and now of course the bad guys are determined that they never have a happily ever after. The reader can’t help but get emotionally caught up in the story, especially when Carlee’s past is revealed and the fact that she doesn’t let life get her down and the fight she has to live after what the bad guys did to her really grabs the reader’s heart.

Tension building suspense engaged the reader’s curiosity at every turn and the author spices things up with lots of twists and turns and intriguing characters that capture the imagination. I was totally caught up in this riveting werewolf romance from beginning to end and I can’t wait to read the next one and see just what the bad guys have in store for everyone.

This was my first time reading a paranormal with werewolves and it definitely won’t be my last. There’s something mysterious about the unknown and it’s what makes this story quite intriguing. The authors first book in the series and I have to say Cam and Ruelle, you nailed it.

Ryden Coulter grew up in foster homes leading him down the wrong path until an encounter with a store owner helped him find his way back. He served in the military and at that time found the love of his life, Carlee whose parents brought her into this world for one reason and that was to help save her older brother Kyle. Everything was perfect until one horrible night. Ryden was out in the field and was attacked. His fears of hurting Carlee lead him to leaving her and breaking her heart.

Several years later, Carlee is working for the FBI as a forensic scientist. She was assigned to two cases and so close to finding the answers but before she does she’s brutally attacked. She feared for her life and disappeared. Once this happens, Ryden has a sense something bad has happened to Carlee and has to find her. He finally finds her and she makes it extremely difficult to let him back into her life because she knows if she does the attackers will come after Ryden. Because she’s still deeply in love with Ryden, she goes back and forth and when she gives in the chemistry between the two are extremely hot, especially when Ryden laps his tongue over the site of Carlee’s wounds to heal her. OMGEEEE!!!

I can’t wait to see what happen's in the next book.

Just Amazing

I so love reading paranormal and Werewolves are my favorite shapeshifter. Carlee is a geek but a very, very smart one at that. She was brought into this world for one reason and one reason only to help save her older brother Kyle. Ryden Was unlucky as a kill his Mother leaving him to fend for himself she never looked back. So going from forster home to forster home Ryden never had anyone who cared until one day when he was trying to impress a gang the store owner stopped him and help him find his right path. Ryden, is military all the way. When Ryden and Carlee met years back they clicked and were happy but when out in the field Ryden is attacked he fears he will hurt Carlee with his transition so he breaks up with her and breaks her heart. Years later Carlee is in trouble she works in the forensic dept at the FBI . With the 2 cases she is on, she is getting to close and so upper level people don't want that info out. Carlee is attacked badly and all she know is she has to disappear and find out what is going on. Ryden is back on a leave and he has a feeling that he has to find Carlee and he knows something is wrong and is determined to find her and help her at all cost and No one or nothing will stop him not even Carlee. These two or on a mission to find out who is behind the mess Carlee is in and who and why they want her dead. This was an incredible story but we have a Cliffhanger. I would recommend this book to any one that loves paranormal reads.

Carlee is an FBI agent. She loves her job and is especially absorbed in her current case of people going missing than showing up dead with body parts removed. She even blabs about it endlessly to her agent friend, sort of boyfriend, 'G'. One night 'G' is insistent on having a surprise for Carlee. He makes her dinner, gives her a whole romantic night then takes her out for dessert. But dessert turns out to be a beating almost to the death and a warning to stay away from her current case. While Carlee is being beaten, her ex boyfriend is home on leave and can feel that something his wrong. He is a werewolf and his wolf can feel that his mate (carlee), that he has stayed away from for the past few years, is in danger. Ryden comes to Carlee's rescue and they are on the run from enemies unknown.
I enjoyed this book, a lot of action, a decent amount of romance and smexy time, but not a huge fan of the large cliffhanger we were given. And I dont see a release date for a follow up book, which stinks.

I did like sassy Carlee with her babbling and determination. And Ryden was a good strong man/wolf. There were really good parts and some parts I felt could have been explained more. But overall a good read.

I read the sample and was immediately hooked, but sadly, the book did not live up to my expectations.

Ryden broke up with Carlee three years ago when he was turned into a werewolf because he was "protecting her." Present day, Carlee is being attacked and hunted because of her job and Ryden is back in town. He somehow feels that Carlee is hurt and sets out to find her. Which results in the two of them running from danger and trying to figure out why they are being chased in the first place.

Random Thoughts:

- The h's nickname for the H was Peaches and all I could think about was

description

- I'm not the biggest fan of second-chance romances.

- Ryden wasn't that badass. He was meh.

- Carlee was TSTL. In the words of the villian:
"For someone who's supposed to be a genius, you're so fucking stupid."
-She kept pushing Ryden away to "protect him." Ugh and her TSTL moments were used to move the plot along, which just seemed lazy. At one point she literally ran out on him while he was taking a shower knowing full well that he would go after her, putting both of them in danger!

description

- I however did like the fact that she did not spend the three years they were separated moping. She even moved on from him and was kinda dating another guy, G. I don't like it when I read second-chance romances and the h hasn't even thought about another guy while the H has moved onto other women. Make it equal.

- But did not like the fact that her relationship with G was inconsistent. In the beginning she was saying how they're just "fuck-buddies," but later on she was giving the impression that they were in a serious relationship.

- We don't get a resolution. I'm guessing the plot will carry on to the the other books? I can't say I'm disappointed since I honestly didn't care about the mystery, I was just glad it was over with.

- I usually hate set-ups for another couple in the present couples book, but this time I was actually more interested in the side characters, JT & Lou. I might come check out their book when it comes out.

I have been waiting for this book to be published and now it has. I purchased my copy a few days after the release and started to read it. I had a hard time at first with the story switching perspectives making it a little hard to follow, but soon got into the book. I love the stories concept of romance and action that was presented throughout.

Ryder is the Alpha male, military back ground and wanting his heart back for his love for Carlee. I like that he never stopped loving regardless of what he was. I would have liked to know a bit more on his background and why he was attacked in the first place and if anyone else was effected too? Would have liked to see more of the past connection with him and Carlee.

Carlee is a strong, smart female who is trying to forget her past love, but little does she know that Ryder will always be a part of her past and future. Once I was into the book I was able to finish reading it within a day.

Even with some questions that arose it was still a good read. I do hope that Cam and Ruelle answer these questions in book two. Knowing these two I am confident they will do this and look forward to reading more about the Wolfpack Delta series.

This book was a great read! It had an interesting plot and was full of action, intrigue, romance and a good dose of humor. The visuals I got while reading were vivid. Particularly during some of the action scenes. Which is a sign of great writing talent. I was a bit confused by some of the flashbacks toward the beginning, but it wasn't enough to detract from my interest in the book. I look forward to seeing what comes next with this series!

I enjoy this book. Carlee is a strong female character working for the FBI and trying to close her case. Ryden seems to be your typical Alpha Male denying his true mate but he won't be able to for much longer.

This book has a cliffhanger and normally I don't read them until the majority of the books are released but I look forward to reading the next one.

Starting a new series by unknown author or authors is always an adventure. Sometimes you walk away from a B-grade movie and think "Well that was interesting." Other times you are thrown into a universe that causes you to shout for joy because "I've found a live one." I'm thrilled to say "I've found a live one."

The story of Wolf's Heart is filled with everything that I look for when I'm reading. Great characters, story line that not only makes sense but causes the story to move forward, and the ability to get so wrapped up in the story that you keep flipping the page to read just "One more chapter." Even when you promised you were going to put the book down and go to bed hours ago.

Our hero, Ryden Coulter, has served his country in the military but found a slice of heaven when he met Carlee O'Shannon. When his world implodes and he is attacked and left for dead everything that he had wanted and desired to have with Carlee died too but he can't help but longing for the girl he left behind. Carlee has her own personal demons she faces every single day which includes knowing that the only reason she is alive was to help keep her older brother alive. This has lead her to a profession that allows her to help others get answers because she has become one of the best forensic scientist and works for the FBI.

The skill which Ms. Cassidy and Ms. Channing kept me on the edge of my seat through out this book was truly breath taking. There were at least three times that I wanted to hurl my Kindle across the room because of what was taking place between the characters or to the characters. And "Wow" did they also make me laugh out loud numerous times whilst reading this book. The suspense and drama that were maintained at such a peak level without making me bonkers was truly a gift.

It has been about a week since I finished reading this story and there are still moments that have been frozen into my memory including a rather spectacular car chase scene. The ability to describe this scene by the authors is stellar because I can still view it like I was seeing the entire thing play out on my large screen TV in my family room.

Ok so then I can hear you all asking what about the interaction between Ryden and Carlee? Gripping is the only adjective that I can come up with. These two are just amazing characters but you get them in the same room together and watch out. The fact that they had history and this was basically a second chance for them only made this story better. I'm a sucker for second chance at love romances.

When you have been blessed finding new authors or series my immediate reaction is to do a little dance. Thankfully the only one to see my Book Dance is my dog, Sook, and she gave me the stink eye after I finished this book at 11 pm because I woke her up. I wait with expectation to see where Ms. Cassidy and Ms. Channing take WolfPack Delta series next and I shall try and be as patient as I can while I wait.

Final note, Buy this book now if you love a great story, suspense and romance steaming from the page. This book will also be added to my must read list for 2014, which is only the second book I've read this year to make it to this exclusive list.

Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review.

Rather dry

Just never got into this one. Cardboard characters and too many plot lines, not developed. The main couple is rather boring and the secondary characters are just annoying.
