I love writing, it's been my dream for many years, and in October of 2013, when my first book went live on Amazon, that dream came true.

Writing love stories that are centered on flawed but lovable characters is my passion. Finding love between people isn't easy, nor should it be. Even in a book, there have to be obstacles for the story to feel real.

I am a mother of three amazing people, and three adorable fur babies. I live in Colorado but love many other places besides my home. One state in particular is New Mexico, the state where I was born has always held a place in my heart.

People and places make my stories what they are. Each character I've written is a part of me in some way. Each place I write is as well. Adventures come in many ways, and each of my stories has taken me on an adventure that I treasure.

Come with me on my adventures and fall in love with my characters, as I have. I promise, you will love the ride.

Glitter kink cowboys. Big Lights Twink meets Cattle Baron Dom.

Yep. Goes from staked under the open sky to a Houston play mansion. I actually liked that when Ethan and Hunter met that there was a period of acclimation before they jumped each other. The balance between tension and release was satisfying and made the eventual coming together more pleasurable.

The kink is very mild with lip service D/s and some spanking/belting/flogging. It's more pretty boy getting reamed on both ends from his Master's monster cock. Entertaining, but not realistic 'cause after some of their activities I certainly think Ethan would have been immobile.

Proof editing: Please, please...someone do a Search and Replace ALL for "fanaticized" which really should be "fantasized" . Also grammar checker uncapitalized several instances of Hunter and Cookie. I could mention some missing commas, which are less for nazi grammarian reasons than clarity, but I'm beginning to feel like I've reached my limit for acceptable critical items mentioned in a single review.

Anyway, this is total fantasy. But if a slutty twink finding his place in the sun with an intimidating if tender-hearted dom appeals to you, then this is a few hours of diversion. Just don't expect any deep revelations or reality.

Favorite quote:
“But what if it gets dirty!?”
“It’s supposed to, dumbass, it’s a cowboy hat not a fucking tiara!"

Ethan agoraphobia is cured with just "hug me while we ride"

Puff... Ladies and gentlemen, the magic of the horniness can cure agoraphobia... Be aroused can make someone having a panic attack be ok and feel perfect well, and go out, camping!

Oh please... Don't insult me making an characters with such serious medical pathology be cured because he is in love.

Oh boy was this ever good! Rain Carrington now has a new stalker... oops .... fan. I love a good cowboy story and this was awesome!
Ethan is hitchhiking to California when he stops at a little town in New Mexico. He decides to rest a day or so and goes into a small bar called Honky Tonk to get some food and hopefully a lay. Instead, he ends up with a job, a room at the bartender’s house and a crush on his boss.
I don’t know who I loved the most Ethan or Hunter. Though Ethan is young, he seems to be very wise and know what he wants. I love his confidence. Hunter is just pure perfection. A cowboy, a businessman, smart and a Dom. What else could you want?
This story is full of surprises. It is hot and sexy and yet sensual and sweet at the same time. There is plenty of conflict and interesting characters to blend with the sex making it a story you won’t want to put down. As a matter-of-fact get ready to shop again, because there is a book two already out!
If you love cowboys, bartenders, short order cooks, ranchers, and BDSM this is definably for you. Did I mention cowboys and hot man-sex?

This was definitely a solid read. The beginning was fantastic, I absolutely loved it. The middle was steady, not as intoxicating as the beginning but definitely kept my attention. Ethan fell into his role of a submissive surprisingly fast and smoothly, I supposed bc he was a natural at heart? At one part Hunter did a couple things that really bothered me and I actually had to put the book down and walk away. LOL. Which I suppose is a good thing in the sense that the author was able to get my emotions boiling! Once I was able to swallow Hunter's transgressions(as well as Ethan's response to them), accepting the fact that people aren't perfect and will make bad choices from time to time, I returned to finish the book in peace. It ended nicely with no blaring cliffhangers, leaving the reader with the feeling that Hunter and Ethan are truly in it for the long haul, imperfections and all. The BDSM scenes were hot but not over the top and I enjoyed their chemistry as Master/slave. Hunter was never cruel and Ethan was ever submissive. A good match indeed!

Ok, I saw this book for free and thought why not. It sounded pretty good. I was truly shocked at how great it really was. It had light BDSM in it. It wasn't as correct as some people would point out but you all know I don't sweat the details. Don't get me wrong the insta-wet scenes were hot, hot and I do mean hot. I thought the back story between Hunter and Ethan was just TERRIFIC. Once I started reading I could not put it down. So if any of you come across this book I strongly suggest you snatch up a copy I don't think you will be disappointed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a terrific story. I mean you can't gripe right now it's FREE!!

Great story. I loved the characters. I'm stingy with giving books a five star rating, but I did really like this. The one negative was the editing. I'd like to say it was poor, but it was far worse than that. However, the story and characters were strong enough that the poor editing will not keep me from buying the next book in the series.

I liked this a lot. The story kept my interest and I liked Hunter and Ethan. I’m assuming Ferguson will show up in the next book and that will explain wis actions at the party in Houston. I know that some people complain about Ethan’s agoraphobia, and how he was able to overcome it by riding the horse in front of Hunter and being held around the waist. It didn’t bother me because I just take it as part of the story.

I was a little bothered by the need for better editing, and that’s why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Read like fanfic. Very little and very bad BDSM. First impressions were misleading for Hawk. He ended up being a poor Dom and boyfriend. He was inconsistent, had double standards and did not communicate. Evan first came across flakey but gained my respect as he matured. Still not convinced he was cured of his agoraphobia. Lots of punctuation and verb tense errors. Not continuing with series.

Read the first part of Honky Tonk Trilogy.

This is the first book I have read from this author and also book 1 of the series. The story is surprising interesting. Ethan , young man , gay and promiscuous. Self baptised a slut. Hitchhiking from New York all the way to a small town in New Mexico ... Ethan gets lucky to find a job the first night in town and a friend in the bar bartender/manager Carter. Also finds a friend in another young man Reggie. Reggie's shy closeted gay attitude. They are good friends , that the understanding.
Hunter Westmore , owner of the bar and ranch owner , catches Ethan's eyes immediately ... Hunter tries to resist Ethan as much as possible. Until He can't wait to make him his ...
Hunter's behind closed doors is different and Carter thinks Hunter and Ethan will be good for each other.
Hunter is Dom and that is something Ethan has always wanted. The story develops with the relationship between them, the challenges of being together and the love they start feeling ... Many factors are out of their control ... But they declared that love. The past comes clashing with Cane , an ex sub ... And Ethan's ex lover from New York.
Reggie becomes friends and helps Hunter. The story doesn't have a cliffhanger per se , but there is currently a 2nd book ... With more of them.

Just going to get my quibbles out front - Not quite sure how wearing a cowboy hat cures Agoraphobia but it does in this book and, commas, please use commas. I'm far from being a grammarian but the wrong word usage and lack of commas was very distracting from the sexin'!

On to the story: Barely-legal Ethan has been drifting for a while and shows up at the rural Honky Tonk bar and meets hunky, monster-cock, rancher Hunter who seemingly is immune to our cute twink's come-ons.

Luckily for Ethan, Hunter catches him in his barn with a local in-the-closet man and realizes he's jealous and is bound and determined to make Ethan his and sure hopes that Ethan likes his dominant ways. And since this is a fantasy read, it's tru luv and everybody is happy and rides off into the sunset.

I liked it enough to get through the lack of commas so that's saying something. Enjoy this fluffy read, just put your dictionary away.

Love this freakin book - review by Nanee upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com

Love these characters. Ethan I just wanted to hug, he's a self proclaimed slut but what he wants is love, to be loved and cared for. Hunter oh my, he's a hot as hell sexy as sin cowboy with a attitude and he's a Dom. When these two meet sparks fly they just didn't know it. It's sexy as hell, very sweet, romantic story. Sex scenes are amazing and I mean AMAZING! The author captures your attention and keeps it, she writes a sizzling story. I can't wait to read book two. Love the secondary characters too. My favorite part is the learning to put someone else's feelings first with Ethan and Hunter learning to love. Love Reggie and Carter. 5 Huge Stars

I loved this book. I usually steer far clear of cowboys, but the D/s and master/slave focus grabbed my attention and I'm so glad that I took a chance. The character of Hunter is spectacular - strong and sexy but flawed. Evan was adorable and the sex scenes between those two were sizzling (esp. when tents were involved or those BDSM parties in Houston). I liked many of the secondary characters, but had a hard time connecting with Reggie. Looking forward to much more of the story. Recommended with enthusiasm, esp. if you like hot, kinky m/m scenes between a hot loving Dom and his beautiful boy. Mmm!!!

Loved it! Ethan was super sexy with just the right touch of vulnerability. Hunter's aloofness in the beginning really set the stage for the passion that develops later on between the characters and the drama the author expertly weaves into the idyllic southern landscape. The villains are relentless and the supporting characters are not always so easy to place in the good guy box keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. You will definitely not regret buying this read if you love books where alpha men are unapologetic in their desires the men who love them are willing to go to the mat for them, you will love Honky Tonk.

This book is one that must be finished. I'm offended many are poorly reviewing the book without giving it the benefit of a cover to cover look over. This is a story that takes both romance and sexuality and binds them together to create the magnificence that is the Honky Tonk series. A great read and I will definitely revisit.

This was a trip and a half! I’m giving it all the stars and recommending it as a ‘give it a chance’ read. The first chapters and set up of the story were superb. The entire book was enjoyable.
I enjoyed the clear writing, very hot MCs with depth, and sympathetic side characters. Am surprised that the BDSM was a turn on as were all the incendiary sex scenes of duo, foursome, sex party. There is a darn good story in this New Mexico romance!

3.5 Stars ~ For anyone who follows my reviews (and I hope there are a few), you should be familiar with what types of stories I'm going to instantly be drawn to, regardless of whether I've read the author before. Cowboys are a personal kink. And BDSM is a personal kink. So when I saw 'Honky Tonk' by Rain Carrington, an author I am personally not familiar with, and read the blurb, I knew I had to give it a try.

Ethan is, without a doubt, what my grandma called "a shameless hussy"! And I loved him for it! He's an out and proud slut and he's been vagabonding across the country from New York heading to San Francisco. Ethan ends up in New Mexico and falls into a job as a short order cook at a bar called Honky Tonk. He lucks out because the bartender/manager, Carter, gives him a room to rent in his house and life is looking up, for a while. Ethan befriends Reggie and helps him to discover his sexuality. Told ya ~ big old hussy! But when Ethan meets the owner, Hunter, all bets are off at that point. Hunter turns Ethan's crank, if you know what I mean, and Ethan is determined to get his man. He has no idea what trouble he's inviting in.

Hunter introduces Ethan to his own naturally submissive nature and with his Dom, Hunter, they begin exploring their relationship. It was rather fascinating to see how much maturing Ethan did just because someone finally took the time to care about him. Hunter finally finds the perfect sub for him in the city-kid, bratty, twinky bottom who is Ethan. Their romance was both sweet and super hot. The author managed to throw a little mystery into the plot which added some additional depth. I enjoyed getting to know Ethan and Hunter plus some fantastic secondary characters, as well.

If you enjoy cowboys, snarky bottoms, BDSM, and scorching hot sex, then this might be the story for you. I can recommend it as an easy read.

This would have been a 5 star for me if it weren't for all of the errors in the book. For heaven's sake, if you can write a great story like this - get a good editor! Normally I would not even be able to finish a book with errors that pull me out of the story, but I really enjoyed the characters and the story. I have downloaded a sample of book 2 hoping that the editing is better.

I loved Ethan and watching him grow in confidence under Hunter's care. Great characterization and story!

This is an advance reader copy given to me by the author for an honest review. As with all of my review, these are my own opinions.

Also note that I will be hiding spoilers and the quotes because of sexy time quotes.

This is the first book of Rain Carrington that I have read, and I always enjoy the chance to find a new author. With this discovery, I now get to read all of the other books!

Basic Plot:

Ethan Kerr is on the run, from his past, as he hitch-hikes across the country to San Francisco to start a new life. Ethan is more of a lover than a fighter, moving from one night stand to another. He doesn’t believe in love or commitment. He finds himself in New Mexico and somehow gets a job at a bar called Honky Tonk. The owner, Hunter Westmore is silent, but intense, something that Ethan would love to conquer. But for some reason, Hunter eludes him. Can Ethan finally get his man, or will Hunter just keep their relationship “all business”?

Ethan Kerr:

When I started reading this book, I found Ethan annoying. The author spends the first 25% of the book letting get to know how “happy-go-lucky” he is when it comes to relationships and that is a self identified “slut”. What we learn as the book progresses is that there are reasons for his actions and Ethan has deeply held pain within that he hides with his “twinky” personality.

Frankly he didn’t see the difference as far as fidelity was concerned but who was he to judge? He’d had married, single, straight, and gay alike in his few years of being sexually active. was a good as another as long as the bearer of it was decent to look at, had a fair bit of meat between his legs and knew how to use it.

So, Ethan is a bit of a kid. I like to think of him as in the “young and stupid” phase of life. I found his character obnoxious in the beginning, but really his character is the one that grows the most throughout the storyline.

Hunter Westmore:

Hunter is the “Hot Dark Male Dominant” that you see in most BDSM based romances. He is a successful businessman (he owns a ranch and the bar), who keeps his sexuality apart from his daily life. He has had no real relationships, mostly just using slaves from his club on occasion when he is out-of-town for work and pleasure. What we find in Hunter is similar in Ethan, he has never felt the need for monogamy in his life.

“He’s not regular people and I don’t care about gay or not, it’s your own business but what he is has no label.”

I found Hunter’s characterization lacking, in fact he does something around 75% of the book that I found difficult to forgive. I will talk about that later in this review.

Strong Points:

I have to say, that this novel has some of the most intense sex scenes that I read in a while. The added M/s dynamics enhances the scenes, giving us more than just a quick shag in the alleyway.

I also found the depiction of the BDSM lifestyle and Master/slave relationship dynamics accurate. There is a scene where Ethan and Hunter sit down and write out their contract, which is accurate and clearly done.

What could be better?

As you can tell, this book has a large BDSM and Master/slave component. However, in my mind, this novel is more of BDSM erotica, rather than a gay romance. While there is a side plot, it distracted me from the relationship. I think that the author should have either beefed up the cattle plot or focused more on the emotional relationship of Ethan and Hunter. Instead, we got a lot of sex scenes that tied together the cattle plot with the “mystery” solved in the last 10 % of the novel.

In the BDSM lifestyle, while a Master/slave can be a committed relationship like a vanilla might call Husband/wife, the relationship might never be a “true love” relationship. Honky Tonk provides the reader the latter relationship type. So, for someone who wants a “HEA” “true love” story, this is not for them. I found Ethan and Hunter’s relationship (despite the “I love you’s”) lacking emotional depth. What I would have preferred was not just hot kinky sex, but more depth on the power exchange aspect of the relationship. We could have seen some intensely emotional scenes where we see Ethan deal with his past and see how Hunter find Ethan to fulfill something that he has found lacking in his life before.

However, what really drove the stars down for me was the confusing “suspense” aspect that came to a strange halt at the end (I am still not sure how Hunter “fixed” it at the end) and the editorial and typographical errors I found throughout the novel. The errors were not enough to ruin my enjoyment, but it did distract me.

Conclusions:

Overall, I enjoyed reading the book. It provided me a look into how the Master/slave dynamic can work and it did it in a realistic manner. The sex scenes were very hot, especially if you like any type of BDSM actions. However, if you are looking for a soft, character driven gay romance, then perhaps look for another novel.

There is a second novel in this series, Honky Tonk: Coastal Cowboys, so perhaps some of the relationship issues will be explained then. If you like BDSM gay erotica, then I think this book is for you.

I don't even know how to rate this. There was just so much I did not like but the author made it fucking work. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I'm going to try to review this but I doubt it will make sense. Ethan is a misunderstood slut. I liked Ethan. A lot. He has a random phobia that is mentioned pretty early so I assumed would play a significant role in the story. But it doesn't. Ethan was a pretty solid MC minus the phobia. Hunter was kinda blah. He was sexy as a sex symbol but didn't care for him as a person. (He didn't win any points with me with the whole Cane situation). I would have rather Ethan end up with Carter. Secondary characters played their roles pretty well and I liked them for it.

The start of Ethan and Hunter's relationship was pretty promising. I had to pause for a bit when Hunter announces that he's a Dom. I just didn't see it. I didn't feel it. I also don't think the start of that type of relationship was handled properly. I just felt the setup was all wrong. Yeah there was a contract and a "trial period" but I don't feel like Ethan (or I) was ready for how fast the scene progressed. For example Hunter tells Ethan what type of relationship he wants from him and the next day he's on display. There was no training or preparedness. (Although one could argue Ethan wasn't put in any situation where he needed "training"), but I for one wasn't a fan of Ethan getting totally dropped into the lifestyle. But once I got over my skepticism over this Master/slave relationship, I could not put this down because I kept wondering what the hell would happen next. The sex was frequent. I skimmed a few scene but the scenes I did read were down right smexy(my favorite was the group scene). I genuinely enjoyed the characters, and this romance.

There some other minor annoyance like this big bad cattle problem that gets solved in one page or Ethan basically telling Reggie to become a Dom and his life will be better. gah It just made no sense. I may have done more than my share of eye rolling and I assure you I'm leaving out lots of things that bugged me, but this left me oddly satisfied and I'm glad I read it.

And after all this, Some sick masochist part of me wants to read the sequel...

I liked this, but there were a few things that kept me from loving it. This definitely needed to be edited and cleaned up...wrong words, missing commas, all sorts of things. Also, even though this was in 3rd person POV, it still jumped back and forth between Ethan and Hunter within the same scene.

I don't know if I ever warmed up to Hunter and really felt crazy chemistry between the two, but I really liked Ethan. I also liked Reggie, who I assume will get his own story? That seemed to be a set up for future books. I'll be interested to see who gets the next story!
