You really have to admire Joel and his message. I listen to Joel on the radio, and found that I had heard the stories in his book many times before. This is the first book that I have read of his, and I assume that his books are just his sermons compiled. He likes to tell the same stories over and over again, as I have heard on the radio as well. I do find that his stuff is very uplifting, and I am obviously drawn to it just like others for inspiration. Joel uses the bible along with stories from people to uplift and empower people. I wish that the stories that he told applied to all people, oh boy would the world be full of miracles, but I do believe that although there is suffering, miracles do happen every day. He provides a good road map of how to get through this hard life with a good attitude, and that is what is important, even if you are not on the other end of the miracle!

Well, I have mixed feelings about this one. First of all, let me say that I won this in a First Reads giveaway. I have read several of Olsteen's books in the past and they seem to have the pattern of being quite redundant. The message is excellent, and I love tuning in to his broadcast and listening to his sermons, but his books aren't quite as good. That being said, he does make the point that God doesn't want us to just accept a mediocre life. He has big plans for us, and we need to do our part by stepping out in faith and trusting Him to do the rest. I would recommend this book to those who don't believe that they are strong enough, or smart enough, or rich enough, or whatever the case may be, to do something huge in the name of our Lord and Savior. He has our back.

The author is a minister of the Gospel. He has a lot of stories that he tells to help us understand God in a better way. I have been able to share one of those stories with a friend who needed help which fit that situation in her life. Therefore, I see these stories as helpful and soul satisfying.

In some places he uses Biblical passages. However, I feel that in too many of the stories he used Biblical references but he did not tell where to find the particular passages. That was a big let down for me.

Definitely a book I would recommend. Your heart and soul will be blessed and your mind will be able to assemble the words for you to help others. However, we need to know where to find the particular passages that will help us to help others.

So far, I'm enjoying this read, as it is an easy one, and I always enjoy Joel's programs. I have to agree with some of our other reviews as saying alot of this is redundant, but I think that's his "thing", trying to get some of us "hardheaded" negative thinkers to think more positively, and trust in God to help us out; build our faith to new heights. I hope to finish this book very soon, and I'm proud to say I won this book (Thank you, Goodreads!)and will have a full review in a day or two!
I am now on pg. 116, and hoping to finish this book by this weekend, if not sooner! I had to re-read and catch up to where I left off a couple of months ago (sorry!) (blame it on my ADD) But I will finish the review when I finish this fine book! :-)
Finally! I'm finished with this wonderful book, and I was not disappointed! I see Joel as a male cheerleader for his brothers and sisters in the Christian community, gently encouraging us to believe and strengthen our faith in God. Thank you, Joel!

This is an amazing book! If you only read one of Joel Osteen's books, read this one! Joel gives scriptural reasons for why God wants us to succeed and to live the promises that He has placed in our hearts. Those dreams that we have in our hearts were placed there by Almighty God and will come to pass as we place our faith into action and trust in Him. In some ways, this book reminds me of the movie The Secret. The difference is that this is coming from a Christian perspective. Personally, both work for me, but Break Out just takes things one step deeper as I see that my faith in Jesus can and will ultimately lead me to my destiny. There is a plan for each of our lives and God wishes for us to be healthy, whole, and successful. He desire us to "loan and not borrow." I recommend this book to anyone seeking to be all they can be in the world for the glory of God.

This is an excellent follow-up to "I Declare". "Breakout" is almost a companion book to "I Declare". By all accounts it is not but one could follow the progression. The only reason I didn't rate this a five star review is the fact that in the later chapters it becomes a bit repetitive to things mentioned in earlier books. However, if you're new to Osteen, this is most definitely a good place to start. I will refer to the opening 12-15 chapters many times. His style is easy to read and purposeful. One does feel better about one's situation and how to deal with that situation after reading the book. It is very inspirational and good teaching material for small groups. Definitely a gold nugget.

Very repetitive. Gives one hope that if this thing can get published, anyone can get published. Borderline heresy -- while it is true that God is able to perform miracles and plow through seemingly insurmountable obstacles and respond to one's faith in action, God does not automatically do these things for believers, no matter how much they believe and follow God's path. There are plenty of examples of people of great faith who did not see the fulfillment of God's promises and did not have things work out in their favour (see Hebrews 11 for some examples of those whose faith was rewarded in this life AND those whose faith was not). Do not be deceived. God wants us to be fearless and act in faith and expectation, but God is not a cosmic vending machine who releases the treat we want if only we'd just continually press the right buttons in the right order.

I loved this book and thought it to be very motivating for me. You should always have a positive outlook in life and this just gives you more reason to believe that. Boy, I sure wish more people could believe in themselves to see things through in their lives. Don't give up at the first "no" that you hear. The next one could be the "yes" you were looking for. God has your back. If you are looking for inspiration, this is a great book to read.

I really liked Joel's new book. The only reason why I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it was many of his sermons rolled into a book. I really like his sermons, but I was hoping for some new material, too. There are some new things in the book, but a majority is sermons that I've already heard. But his message is so positive, that it's excellent reinforcement of things I need to hear! Listen to this book to get yourself pumped up to tackle life! You can do it!

My main problem with this book is that Joel uses several... many stories & examples to get the reader to the point. Perhaps some readers need several examples. I do not. It frustrated me & I felt like I was wasting my time.

I thank God for anointing Joel to write this book. It's definitely a life changing book, very inspiring. Before, I was just going about my life, praying to God to just help me get by. I thought I had no purpose, no passion, no talent. I was waiting for God to show me what my talent was though. It was hard for me to keep living in the spirit because I had no hope, no vision for my life. I was addicted to this computer. Still wasn't happy. I was stressed and depressed all the time. I didn't believe anything great could happen for me. I was grateful for my life though. God was always good to me in that I always had what I needed. God also protected me and my loved ones, then and now. I was addicted to this computer. My mum told me this book would change my life; to get it. My best friend, got it for me for my 25th birthday. Now, I believe God had this book prepared for me before Joel even wrote it. It ministered to my spirit. With the Holy Spirit teaching me step by step, I now know that I am not useless, I am not alone, I am not hopeless, I am not stuck. Now, I know that God is breathing in my direction. I feel things are shifting in my favor.I'm expecting increase. I'm praying bold prayers. I'm standing on God's promises. The little things I was passionate about since I was a child, I now realize that's what I want for me, that's my dream. The thing is, It's impossible, but I know even if it doesn't seem possible in the natural, my God is supernatural, and He's working behind the scenes for me, right now. His favor surrounds me like a shield. Now, I thank God for grace. I thank God for Jesus dying for me and because of that great sacrifice, I have The Living God, The Holy Spirit, inside of me. I am highly favored and blessed. My God/Father is a King, and He wants the best for me. I will, with the grace of God, honor God and His praises shall be continually on my lips. This book definitely helped me break beyond the barriers/limits of my past into believing, praying, declaring and thanking God for the extraordinary life He has for me. I was born to leave a mark on this generation.God bless you Joel. I declare a 'barn load' of blessings for you and your loved ones, so to speak, an overflow. You are definitely a blessing to me.

P.S - My best friend gave me a precious little box in the shape of a cross, saying, 'All things are possible with God,' I had nothing in it before, but, today I wrote all things things I'm asking God for because I'm expecting it. I know in His timing with this unshakable faith I have,by His word, and by His grace,in Jesus's name I will receive it. Then I can look back and say look what my God has done for me. Glory be to God! My God is the God of the breakthrough!

So many times I have been down in the dumbs, as I got this book, it would lift me up. God has a great annointing on Joel to encourage believers. To many people attack Joel saying, "He's phony" "He's too positive," "He preaches a feel good message," and my favorite accusation, "He smiles too much." My friends I get it, you may disagree with his theology but pleese have a better explanation. If we are really going to knock the devil down we do not need to aim at people, we need to aim at their beliefs. I can remember hearing a lady make a comment on a review of his book; I can't remember word for word what she said but it was something like this, "I just can't stand him (Joel Osteen) all of his books have his face on them! And his smile is so fake. His wife looks like one of those barbie dolls that just grin to hard." I was taken back from these statements. I'm not sure but I think that's called, "Rude." Look if you are going to bash the catholic church, don't make a meme and put it on facebook saying, "The pope is the anti-christ." No no no, that is what a child does. As Paul said, "Putting away childish things" (1 Cor. 13:11). Lets be real and talk about what we disagree about instead of bashing more popular people simply because we are jelous. Anyways back to my review of the book, I love Joel's book, it was so cool to have him read it. Of course I'm talking about the audiobook. I can't think (off the top of my head) of another author that reads their own book in the audiobook format. This was a joy because with some audiobooks I have trouble with the fact that I can only picture that person saying those words. Like I have said before in other reviews, I don't necisarilly agree with this idea that God is in complete soveriegn control of everything, but I honestly don't think Joel does either. I think that what he means is that God allows things to happen, and other times we are in control. Another positive thing was how well the stories are told. I am still in thought about the Olympian who passed up his chance to go to the Olypics just to be there when his son was born. Then 28 years later he came home with a gold medal and gave it to his dad saying, "this was your medal that you won 28 years ago. Wow! Joel's book is full of stories and you will really enjoy it.

As soon as I opened the book and started reading "Believer bigger," it's like Joel Osteen speaking a live sermon in my home as if I hear his voice loud and clear as it rings in my ear. Shifting is a way to start a chapter and speak on things that people are either going through, struggling to get through, or seeking for a break-through. I am speaking some of the things aloud as well, we do need to BREAK OUT and GET FIT (faith, intimacy[with YHWH God], and trained)!

"Don't feel badly because you're not where you want to be right this minute. Don't focus on the disappointment, the failure, or the mistakes. They were all a part of God's plan to prepare you for your yes. Keep moving forward, being your best, honoring God, being determined and persistent, and God promises yes is in your future." (page 82). This is exactly what I needed to read or hear since I feel this way right now, or for quite some time and have to keep pressing toward the mark! We have to keep dreaming! Continue to dream 4 more, and soar for your encore (I always say at the end of Adrienna Turner or Dream4More radio on BlogTalkRadio).

4.5 stars; leisure read, 2014.

Back to basic.

I have read Joel Osteen's other books and since most of his messages were similar I naturally thought this book would same as well. To some of you this book sounds just like his other books. Same uplifting, positive, never give up speech and I thought I was past such phases. But for whatever reason I started to read this book, thinking to myself, his messages are pretty much same this book should be no different.
I am surprised of myself of enjoying this book and how much encouragement Joel gave me with his same messages. They do sound the same but it helps. I needed to hear these messages again, especially this time in my life. All the promises I have forgotten about, God has rekindled them in me through Joel's cliche messages. I thank God for leading Joel to write this book and I thank God for leading me to read this book.
This book will not be forgotten. It will be read by many people who God intended for them to hear.

Anytime you read a book by Joel Osteen you will put it down feeling encouraged and ready to face any difficulty you are dealing with. If, however, you are wanting an in-depth book about Biblical principles you might want to look elsewhere. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I liked the ease of reading this book, the author’s ideas and stories flow from one to the other. I did think that some of the material was familiar, like maybe I had read some of the stories or ideas in one of his other books. That said, it is still an enjoyable and uplifting read. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a few words of encouragement in their walk with the Lord.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

I think this might be my favorite of Joel’s books so far, partly because of the message of it, but also partly just because it came at the perfect time in my life. I love this man’s faith, his message of hope and trust in God, and his encouragement to live a life fully focused on the goodness and greatness of the God who created the whole universe and who loves us more than we can ever imagine. Another super encouraging, challenging, and motivating read from a man who I’m finding I respect and agree with more and more!

Favorite Quote: “I’ve learned this, when you face the greatest pressure, that’s when you’re closest to your victory. When the intensity has been turned up, that’s a sign that you’re about to step into a new level of God’s favor.”

What draws me to Joel Osteen is his optimism. His charisma is catchy lending his words to inspire. I listened to this audio recording on my Nook as I was preparing for work each day. I found that when I arrived at my desk each morning, I was freshly invigorated. I felt victorious regardless of the any obstacles I encountered throughout my day.

Mr. Osteen's, BREAK OUT, does not offer any mind boggling light bulb moments. Instead, it offers a simplistic easily obtainable outlook on life. I highly recommend this audio recording because I believe it will make your day brighter. Couldn't we all use a fresh perspective from time-to-time? Happy Reading!

I love watching Joel on tv, and I read and enjoyed his last book Every Day a Friday, so I definitely wanted to read this. I bought the audio book so I could listen on my long commute and it was awesome! Since he is reading it, it's like listening to his sermons. I keep it in the car so I can listen to it when I need a pick me up. If you can, you should get the audio version, but the print says the same thing without tbe smile and the accent!

God did not create you for mediocrity, but to be extraordinary. ~ Joel Osteen, Break Out!

Listened to audio program while driving to and from work. I was extremely encouraged and even had a comment from one of my co-workers asking why I was so positive. I knew it was because I was hanging around Joel Osteen. You can't but become more optimistic about life as you listen to this program.

Let the spirit of Joel Osteen rub off on you as you listen to this program!

Some churches have issue with Osteen and his church, referring to it as prosperity gospel. I don’t find it that way - I find his message to be one of love and optimism, as well as joy for a loving God. He is a terrific storyteller, using Biblical stories and verses intermingled with stories he’s heard or seen in his life or at the church. Some stories I’ve heard before but that’s ok - repetition makes things stick.

5 stars was given because it inspired my faith and made me realize that my dreams are not dead. Joel does like to repeat little stories over and over which I don't care for but the overall effect was great!

I read one review that stated most of Joel's books you can start reading about chapter 8 or 9. I believe it to be true on this book as well. Still 5 stars because of the message.

While Joel isn't necessarily my kind of preacher, his books have really pushed my faith to a new, better level. His hope and enthusiasm, I believe, are strait from God, and you just can't help but smile and repeat after him, "Yes is in my future!" It's like a B-12 shot for your soul.
4 stars because this one was a bit long in my opinion. But a great supplement to my Bible reading.
