Things are going from bad to worse for Zoe Lake. Actually, if there’s something beyond worse – she’s pretty sure that’s the world she’s living in these days.
Between threats from hometown werewolves, visits from sarcastic ghosts and the eternal struggle of what shoes to wear to a party, Zoe can’t fit much more on her plate.
Covenant College was supposed to be a new beginning. Instead, it’s becoming a frightening ending for a series of girls that have gone missing during the winter semester. The problem is, there are so many monsters on the Covenant College campus, narrowing down the suspect list seems like an impossible feat.
Even with the help of her witchy roommate, Zoe isn’t sure where to start looking. When you add in the mysterious vampire that comes and goes as he pleases and the territorial werewolf that keeps showing up at the worst time imaginable, this semester at Covenant College is exactly the opposite of what Zoe expected – and more importantly, wanted.
Of course, things can always get worse. As the disappearances multiply, and more information about Zoe’s true nature comes to light, the true test for Zoe might be whether or not she can survive until summer vacation.

Warning: These characters are a little snarky and sarcastic. It’s not for everyone.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Totally hooked on this series, love the whole monster Huntering concept on campus.

This series has everything vampires, witches, werewolf and the people that want to end them. What could possibly go wrong?

Great series, I think buffy the vampire slayers fans would enjoy this because of the humour and the supernatural element.

Happy Reading 😇📚📗📗📘📙📒📚📕📖📚📚📓

This is second in a series and characters, situations, and relationships carry over from the first. So I definitely recommend reading these in order.

This is much like the first so you should know what you're getting going in. I had hoped for more of a growth arc for the characters (any of them, really), but we don't get that. You still have the various supernatural groups doing a fine job of not talking with each other and you have Zoe doing her best to find a middle line by antagonizing them all more-or-less equally. I wasn't a fan of some of the friend drama and one plot line () doesn't really go anywhere. But it still managed to be about right for my expectations.

So I'm going to go with 3½ stars that I'll round to four. A little weaker than the first book, but enough to be going on with.

A note about stuff: Still not a romance, though there's movement. I really hope this doesn't devolve into a triangle. The earmarks are there, but I feel like one side is avuncular-ish. I hope Lee sticks with that because it'd make a nice change.

3.5 Stars... I enjoyed this read more than the first in the series... The characters seem to be settling into their personalities and relationships, and the overall storyline is becoming somewhat clearer... The mystery within this read was entertaining and engaging with the supernatural twists that added an exciting element... Although the "evil" character is somewhat obvious, the way in which they are revealed is interesting and pulls different aspects of the read together... I can truthfully say that I was entertained throughout the book and it created a desire in me to want to move forward to the next one:)

So other than the supernatural stuff (which wasn't actually that heavy in this one), this is really not far off of what college is like. You get paired up with totally random people in a dorm, crushes form, feelings are hurt, people get mad at each other and then make up and somewhere in there you have class, eating, studying & partying.

Zoe can be a bit annoying, but she's also snarky and doesn't really hold in what she's thinking very well (most of the time), which I find totally charming. She also seems to be more than "human", but we don't really find out what in this book. This, like the first book, was a very quick read and I kinda didn't want to put it down. Ready to see what happens next.

I wasn’t thrilled with the first book in this series. The main character is so obnoxious that it was hard to care what happened to her.

This story is better, even with an incredibly pugnacious teenager in the lead. The mystery, while not difficult to solve, presented an opportunity to explore the different characters and types of supernatural creatures running around this tiny college campus.

I enjoyed the book and have already picked up the third in series.

This is the second book in hopefully a long Covenant college series. Having survived vampires, witches and werewolves Zoe heads home for winter break. But something is definitely different, when her wanna be boyfriend & werewolf Aric Winters shows up at her house to warn her that the werewolves in her town plan to kill her. It's just another day in the life of the sarcastic, snarky, Kardashian hating, tomboy heroine.

Once she's back at school she learns that she can see and hear dead people, ghosts specifically. And the first ghost she meets thinks its only been two weeks since she died, but it's been 38 years. And she isn't alone, girls are disappearing on campus.

With the help / interference of a werewolf, a tan vampire and some witches she sets out to solve the mystery. As well as discover what her special power is and continuing to discourage the local monster hunting professor whose belief 'the only good monster is a dead monster' is opposed to her world view.

This is a fun read loaded with pop culture references. There are references to people sleeping together but no details.

I love all the different supernaturals in this.... Its very College minded... Maybe a bit highschoolish, but it is YA.... yea i liked it.

This semester.... Aric isnt giving up, Brittney is as annoying and unbelievable as ever. Paris and Zoes friendship is tested, and a new boy is on the block... all this teamed with Ghosts and girls going missing.....

Whispering is the second installment into the Covenant College series by Amanda M. Lee.

I still find myself struggling to either fall into the dislike or absolute adoration categories I usually swim in while deciphering new reads. This debacle is mainly Zoe’s fault. For varying reasons her character frustrates me more often than not, with these small doses of humor and reason that swindle me into never truly committing to any form of negative attitude towards her.

Somehow Ms. Lee straddled the line of intrigue with her information outflow and teasing tastes of new knowledge into this literary universes take on the supernatural. Leaving my level of frustration just about even with overall enjoyment by the end of this book. There were far too many, mainly Brittany influenced, terribly teenaged immaturity levels inflicted on the reader throughout these pages. This alone leads me to suppose the intended audience was younger?

However, yet more pronounced at the conclusion of the second book is utterly underwhelming world building present here. The supernatural is yet still annoyingly untouched or explained in any form of satisfying detail, which is paramount in crafting a truly satisfying look into the many varying fairy tales and their twists.

I honestly don't know how many words can express my feelings about these books and this author. I downloaded all these 5 books on audiobook and when I saw it was 36 hours I was dubious about it. I started on 26 March 2021 and I can quite happily say that every night and every opportunity I have had, I have listened and got completely hooked on the books, the plots and the characters!!! As soon as I started to get engrossed in this, I started researching and found out there was another trilogy (25 hours) which continues when they leave college. That was downloaded as well. All in all there is over 61 hours of fantastic writing from an extremely talented author. I LOVED EVERY SINGLE PART OF IT. There were not any moments of the plot dragging, I didn't get bored once and that is astonishing when you think of 61 hours!!! Do not hesitate for one second to read/listen to these books. They deliver on every single level.

So, I love Amanda M. Lee's writing. Really love it. It's not perfect, and I do catch some mistakes once in a while, but I love it. I am addicted to her Avery Shaw, Wicked Witches of the Midwest, Aisling Gridlock, Charlie Rhodes, Ivy Morgan, and Mystic Caravan series. I recently finished her new series - Moonstone Bay - and I really enjoyed it.

I have not read her Harper Harlow, Rowan Gray, Maddie Graves, or Harper Brothers Security series, yet.

I read the first book in her Covenant College series, and it was okay, but I had other things to read and I did not follow up with the next installment. Until recently. I was desperate for something to read, so I got this book. I enjoyed it. It's not one of my favorite AML series, but I will continue it.

Going alone is a bad idea

Now that they are down to 3 roomies things are getting a little tense. Brittany is wanting to join the sorority of her choice and boyfriend troubles besiege the other two. A further complication is that she can now see ghosts. Namely the ghost of a murder victim. Was the young girl killed a few weeks ago or has time slipped away from her. Further complications arise with new murders and the falling out with her roomies. Can they get to the bottom of the killings? Why do all the supernaturals seem so intent on getting to know her? A good plot but really the killer was obvious from the start. This really didn't detract from the story about the girls but it would have made it even better if it had been a surprise.

3 stars, maybe 3.5 as the characters start to grow on you more in book two of any series. I was not a fan of the first book that I read by this author "Any witch way you can" do to the lack of magic in that book. There is not a great deal of magic in this series, but it does have a better story and enough magic to keep you interested. I jump ahead in this series in a way and did the "Dying Covenant" series first. The Dying covenant series is a continuation of this series but is better as the main character are adults and are less pron to do stupid things. If you liked the first book this one is mostly the same and maybe a little better.

Great story. Zoe Lake returns to Covenant College to complete her freshman year. But that's just after finishing with the almost cliffhanger from the first story. This semester turns out to be slightly more insane than the previous. She continues to let her mouth get the most of her, especially where Brittany is concerned. There's plenty of time with Paris as well. The cast expands with more time for Matilda and Laura. The ending is quite snarky.

Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Funny. Romantic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

Still finding it's balance

Zoe is still trying to find out what she is in a paranormal sense. Still trying to avoid Professor Blake and his team who want to eradicate all paranormals. Finding herself while trying to help a student ghost who's been dead for nearly 40 years, trying to convince herself that she is not attracted to Aric and getting in the middle of a spat between Paris and Laura isn't easy.. especially when there's a burial ground, missing girls and a Sphinx on the loose isn't easy.

Still a bit patchy at times.

Zoe has the possibility of a werewolf boyfriend but there is also that mysterious vampire that is fixated on her. It is tough being the most beautiful girl in the school, and she also has this incredible power that makes many attracted to her while she seems to have special skills just awakening. One such skill helps her get info from ghosts to help deal with evil doing between trips to the salad bar, fraternity and house parties, and sitting around making fun of other people with her two best gal pals.

Lots of college drama, new guy in town, girls missing and a ghost

What I enjoyed:
* I'm really liking Rafael and hope we learn more about him soon
* Aric is growing on me
* I'm hoping things end well for Laura, but getting a bit worried

What could have been better:
* Zoey is still acting like a 12 year old and saying everything she thinks without regard for how it will affect others

Zoe + Aric = Their forever starts now

I've actually back tracked to this series so I wasn't expecting it to grip me as it has. It's fun to see how Paris & Zoe's friendship becomes deeper than just roommates and how Eric finally wins Zoe over. The mystery is about a new supernatural that I've never heard of before and the history of it a bit. All & all its a great series and I'm really loving it

Again, I like the humor and snark. But the annoying parts of book two, are more prevalent. The constant references to books and movies; the nonstop use of "...has a point", the barely explainable attraction between Aric and Zoe; and Zoe's obliviousness to her best friends personal dilemma and secrets; make this a mess of a story. A lot of things make no sense and one thing that is really bothersome is Zoe's stupidity. Why didn't she just ask her parents a few pertinent questions?

Unimpressive but entertaining for sure. I laughed out loud a few times with the snarkyness of the main character.
This second book had some more supernatural but it was still mostly focused on college living which is kind of fun but not really my thing.
I don’t find the writing to be my style either but it’s not bad.
For an audiobook I enjoyed it some.

Very exciting!

College might be boring classes and keg parties for freshman Zoe, but what happens after class is what's really important and interesting. What's a girl to do when everyone seems to want something from her and know something about her. Great story, characters, snarky banter, a few murders. What more can you ask?

Aaaaand, That’s A Wrap

CovenantCollege2

There went second semester.

Zoe is free of Will, but hasn’t settled on his replacement.

There is a new kid, with a strange hair cut, who wants to be in the running.

Professor Blake is holding out for Zoe to join his hunting group (she still says No).

And someone is killing co-eds, but the school isn’t talking.

Fun Read

Although none of the charachters actually come across as 18 or 19 year old students, they are otherwise well-known developed and interesting.

In every book of Ms. Lee's I read there are grammatical errors, often with the use of prepositional phrases. It is frustratingly disruptive to the flow.

Entertaining

I am enjoying this series, I get a kick out of the author's humour and the characters' personalities. It is entertaining and fun. It's not Stephen King, but its no slouch either. Sit back, with a rum and chips, and enjoy this book series.

Really wonderful series

I love how this series gets more in-depth with each book. I absolutely can't stand Brittany, she is a self-absorbed person. No wonder Zoe can't help but be mean and sarcastic to her. I love Zoe, Paris and Aric!

Not as enjoyable as book 1 as it left a few things up in the air - like why didn’t she revisit the ghost after they found the bodies??? Will still carry in with the series though because I do enjoy the characters

Nice light read

True beach reading. Amusing, easy, fun characters and premise.
If you are expecting great literature you will be disappointed. If you want a fun piece of fluff and like paranormal cozy mysteries, this is the ticket.

Loved Book 2

I love Zoe come backs. I wish I had her super power for snarky responses. I think Zoe gets a new power every book. Similar to Clark Kent in Smallville. Looking forward to the next book.

This series is the story of Zoe Lake. There are many spin-offs to this series so I decided to read this one. This series starts out slow introducing all the main characters you will see later on. So I’m learning their relationships to the spin-offs I have read.
